Fantastic. This is one of the best tutorials on Gadget out there. Everything shown is useful and there's a great balance between basics and really useful advanced techniques.
I love tinkering with music but don't really have the knowledge or confidence to get very far. I bought Gadget around three years ago and your tutorial has finally helped me to understand the bloody thing. Thanks for posting.
Very well done. Basic stuff but informative for those not familiar with the DAW. Of course, your creativity shines through while demonstrating the features on some musical choices that were interesting. Better late than never!!
Having had Gadget since it came out, watching your video has made me realise that I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much.
thanks Martyn. The key initially (for me at least) with gadget was to sit in an armchair with headphones and just play around with a handful of gadgets that I liked the presets of: London, Helsinki, Berlin, Darwin, Tokyo. And then by just focusing on a 4-bar loop or even 2- bar loop - tweaking, automating, experimenting - and not thinking about turning it into a full song, you'll learn how to make it shine.
Returned to this app after not touching it for a year or so - bought it, messed around with it - then returned to Cubasis. But, boredom has really set in so I’ve decided to give it another go - and this seems the perfect tutorial to watch before I do. Cheers !!
wow without a doubt the best tutorial on how to use this app. Explained all the parameters in a slow and even pace and I could understand your accent. Good job sir...kudos to you.
I bought Gadget for iOS when it first came out, but I ended up not using it. After I bought my iPad Pro about three months ago, I eventually put Gadget on it. I saw your video months ago, and even downloaded the book. But it wasn't until this evening, while taking the train home for over six hours, that I finally watched the saved TH-cam absolute beginners video, and followed your directions via Gadget on my iPad Pro. I've only started on the Berlin section, and it'll bake me about another week to get through it due to my other commitments, but wow I'm already impressed. Your video has really helped me getting to explore it, and Gadget can be really useful. Again, I appreciate the help and information!
That is great Velanche. Thanks for letting me know. Gadget really is a masterpiece on the iPad and can genuinely give you professional sounding results in a really nice interface. I sound like a salesman (I have absolutely no official affiliation to Korg!)
This tutorial is incredible! I am an absolute novice to any music-editing. Installed the Korg Gadget LE and fiddled around. But after watching this video things started falling in place! Thanks a lot! I realize there is so much this software can do!
Hank’s Gadget vids were a great help to me in understanding and appreciating the depths and capabilities and realising the potential of this brilliant app. Quite interesting watching this again and seeing the older version before the most recent updates. I have to say, my eyes prefer the look of the mixer tracks being all in black as opposed to the new colour scheme where each gadget has been assigned a different track colour. I’m extremely colourblind. There’s too much colour variation in it nowadays. But that’s just my poor eyes having trouble! Excellent Gadget tutorial. 😎👍
Thanks a lot. You helped me find that for recording it was needed to press “play” button after pressing the record button, it was not intuitive. To you for this great tutorial.
Incredible video! I'm very new to this whole realm, been playing punk music since i was 14 but I recently acquired a few hardware grooveboxes/synths/etc and picked up Gadget while I was at it. Learned a lot from this video last night!
Thanks for this video & the tutorial. you're SO right about having so much gadgetry becoming paralyzing. I have Ableton and I have had so many system issues & crashes, that sometimes I go into a creative block. I just got an I-pad and I'm really enjoying the completely different type of workflow, plus the "toy-like" appearances of the little synths make them FUN!!
yeah making music on a single app on an ipad has been a revelation to me. I am careful not to get lost in app world though as that could be just as damaging. I know too many musicians (me included sometimes) that spend most of their time browsing gear demos and trying new stuff instead of composing.
Nice one Hank, I got a refurbished Pro the other week, which coincided with price reductions on Gadget and Cubasis so with these and a few other splurchases I'm inundated with massively powerful apps with little idea how to use them! This went a long long way to solving one of those problems so thanks a lot, I'll be watching more.
Thanks, I managed to get a mint 12.9" 128Gb for £559 on ebay, with a 12 month warranty so I'm pretty chuffed. I'm sort of replacing my lappy with it which I was unsure about at first, but the ios music is what sealed it for me. The Pro clearly won't replace an office laptop, or a professional studio, but for the price of the apps it's a steal. I think Gadget is going to finalise at the best part of £300 for the Mac and there's no way I would be buying that sort of software! £19.99 (plus the inevitable IAPs!), is just a steal. I'm just delving into your next video now - the loop to a song one, good stuff, thanks again.
Thank you so much man! This really helped me a ton! Without this tutorial I probably wouldn't have ever succeeding in making my first song! You're the best :)
Awesome tutorial sir! Currently on an iPhone with a somewhat small screen which is not helped by Korg Gadget’s small buttons but I can’t wait till I get an iPad to fully dig into the app! Great video!
Hey I was watching this video and was hoping to solve a little issue I got. So when I recird on instrument 2 it's not playing my instrument 1 .how can this be fixed?
Great video, thanks. Is there a way to punch in and out in Zurich? Is there a way to replace record when recording midi using an instrument? I’ve been searching on how to do both with no luck.
Hallo Hank! Thanks a lot for for your great tutorial!First I’ve seen your video and then I read your PDFa what helps me a lot getting an entry into gadget,You did a really great work here! Why didn’t KORG bring it? All the best to you and keep posting more videos from you! Many greetings from Berlin!
When you come next time to Berlin, just give me a hint and I will guide you and show you some interesting places. :) I’m born here and I really love this city. I live in an multicultural area (Kreuzberg) and the people here are so nice and open minded! Many artists and musician are here. I enjoy the living here. Have a great day Hank!
If I’m playing with a keyboard and want to record something at say bar two, how do I start recording from there? It seems my only option is to always start recording from bar one. I can’t figure out how to move the cursor line where I want to start recording. Surely this is possible?
I don’t think you can. There is a workaround though. If you have an 8 bar loop and want to start recording at bar 5. Turn the metronome on. Select the 4th bar in the sequencer window, press record then tap in the narrow strip at the top of the sequencer where the grid markings are. Real-time recording will now start from bar 4 giving you a 1 bar click intro first
really well explained. Considering gadget and coming from a pc daw and wanting something to use as a sketchpad. The way the song is built is still confusing to me as Im used to left to right transition rather than ableton kinda session clips, but I'll maybe just use it to make short exportable loops for use as sound material ,rather than fully realized tracks. Nice video =)
I'm fine), I bought a controller for scratch training pioneer ddj 200) and I use Korg Gadget on iPhone se). I want to buy a midi keyboard for myself. I have tracks that are not complete on the iPhone). I’ll soon put something in TH-cam, I need to get together and do it)
Thanks so much for this! Answered some of my questions! Love Gadget! I did a track for fun where I mixed Korg Gadget with multiple Korg Monotrons! My kids sing on it in Swedish :) Check it out out on Spotify & Apple Music: JUPITERBARNEN - SPELA FORTNITE HELA DAN
Wow I actually learned so much. Namely highlighting to change velocity and sliding to delete automation. Great tips!
Fantastic. This is one of the best tutorials on Gadget out there. Everything shown is useful and there's a great balance between basics and really useful advanced techniques.
I honestly didn't think I'd watch the whole hour, but you did a great job.
I love tinkering with music but don't really have the knowledge or confidence to get very far. I bought Gadget around three years ago and your tutorial has finally helped me to understand the bloody thing. Thanks for posting.
great to hear!!

Thanks a lot. You helped me find that for recording it was needed to press “play” button after pressing the record button, it was not intuitive. To you for this great tutorial.

Thanks for this straightforward, easy-to-follow video tutorial!
no problem. more to come!
Great stuff - this is one of the clearest and easiest-to-follow intros I've come across. Thanks for putting it together!
Thanks a bunch for making and posting this. I've just gotten started and this has been a huge help!
This was so good somI need to comment, I usually doesnt comment if its not a full "Tenpoint" and this one is.
this is great to hear peter, thankyou
Great tutorial. Picked up on a few features that I had overlooked. I didn't know that you could turn the grid off for automation, most helpful :)
Excellent thank you great tutorial
What a fantastic tutorial! This is very rare, you have a talent for this. Many thanks, I just got Gadget.

this is so fantastic, thank you so much!
Thank you very much for taking your time to make this awesome video. I love your tracks and videos Master:-)
Really happy that you like it Ivan. Thankyou
Excellent Tutorial 🙏🏾
Very good tutorial video, thanks! But if possible, including subtitles, without them it is very difficult for non-English speakers!
Sorry but the video is too long for youtube to automatically add subtitles.
Cut video 3-4 part and you can add subtitles. Please, there is no such detailed review on the Internet!
Very nice to Tutorial thank you very much!
you're the man
Yeah, that was very helpful. Ty
Very useful, cheers!
Thanks man, really helpful
What an absolutely brilliant tutorial. Many thanks for sharing your skills :)
Awesome tutorial sir! Currently on an iPhone with a somewhat small screen which is not helped by Korg Gadget’s small buttons but I can’t wait till I get an iPad to fully dig into the app! Great video!
Great instruction video.
That helped a lot!
Thank you for the tutorial. I am trying to get into this app. It's very powerful. I know this is stupid, but I hate the blue color. Lol.
Hey I was watching this video and was hoping to solve a little issue I got. So when I recird on instrument 2 it's not playing my instrument 1 .how can this be fixed?
That is weird. It should do. Have you checked obvious things like mute etc? Or maybe upload a video so I can see what is going on
Great video, thanks. Is there a way to punch in and out in Zurich? Is there a way to replace record when recording midi using an instrument? I’ve been searching on how to do both with no luck.
Thanks Luis. You have highlighted 2 major features that it doesn't have yet. Hopefully in future updates.
Thanks. Really pleased it helps you. I went to Berlin last September and had a great time!
When you come next time to Berlin, just give me a hint and I will guide you and show you some interesting places. :)
I’m born here and I really love this city. I live in an multicultural area (Kreuzberg) and the people here are so nice and open minded! Many artists and musician are here. I enjoy the living here.
Have a great day Hank!
That is very kind thank you. I went to Kreuzberg and ended up in club der visionaere. Very cool!
Thank you
THANK YOU!!
I think it's just pulling in the microphone on the drum track. Thanks for the tutorial!
I just got Gadget 2 for iOS and I don’t see any save option on any of the Gadgets.
click on the preset name. Save As will appear
If I’m playing with a keyboard and want to record something at say bar two, how do I start recording from there? It seems my only option is to always start recording from bar one. I can’t figure out how to move the cursor line where I want to start recording. Surely this is possible?

How many gadgets does it come with without the in-app purchases
You get at least 16 gadgets - plenty to get started. The korg website will be more specific.
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial and the printed guide! Now if I can just tear my iPad out of my wife's hands! ;-)
Very well done and very useful, thx for uploading.
Just a note...sound quality could be better
thanks for commenting. I agree about the sound. My voice in particular could be better
))) Hank !) Peace
Thanks for the tutorial. I think Zurich is a pain to use recorder. I’m singer songwriter and this recorder has no great options for proper editing.
I know what you mean. Garageband is probably a better option
how many tracks you can play together without sound crashin with an AIR 2 ??
About 25 max. But I stick to 20 because I use a lot of FX and automation
25 synth play together!!! without crashing!!! WOW !!!
Thanks ;)

5:11 *There is also a 2 Bar Count-In, thats very IMPORTANT, why you dont say THAT !!????*
Pretty good. Can't stand hearing your mouth sounds. Fix that. Doesn't fit with proper British etiquette.
