i stand by the fact that the best designed bosses in the series are the octo expansion bosses. they took what felt like just ok bosses from the main story mode and added much more depth to them and made them actually difficult to defeat.
Here’s a hot take: Some maps should not be compatible with certain modes. They should add more modes, like one that works well on small maps, and then take small maps out of the rainmaker rotation.
@@DiademAce sort of. In both splatoon 1 and 2, there were certain map/mode combinations that were removed from ever showing up in rotation (once they were taken out the only way to play them was private battles). I feel like it's less a mode issue and more a map issue though, especially in this game.
Hot take: Mincemeat is not that bad. People treat it like deadly poison, and even though I can see why you wouldn’t like it, it feels surprisingly playable on majority of modes. Clams is.. a different story but I’d MUCH prefer playing on it over something like Eeltail, Scorch, Wahoo, Humpback, and even Inkblot
I would argue that Super Chumps is less of a Displacement Special (especially since it takes just a couple shots on Chumps to be safe and not have to move), and more of a Predicament special. You shoot your chumps towards the enemy flank: Do they (a) keep facing forward, and lose control of their flank? Or (b) turn to the chumps to pop them, and leave their front side exposed / undefended?
I don't know if this is a hot take considering how it's only been 3 days but Splattercolor screen might actually be the worst designed special in the entire series. Just the fact that it's making a good chunk of people feel sick and dizzy irl (plus that adding a special that messes up with your vision in a game that already has a lot of clutter in it isn't a... good idea) is enough to make it worse than missiles and sting ray from a design standpoint
Splatoon 2's bosses were so much better than Deep Cut. They weren't just shoot the eels or the shark or the stain on the floor, they were about finding the right time to strike and the right way to run in a cycle. They also weren't complete and utter pushovers. Even the fricking oven would toast any of the Deep Cut members. The only exception would be the final battle, but I call that one a tie as both are pretty unique, with one being and engaging and frantic battle while the other is a stressful journey to the boss and both having a very good final part. Splatoon 2 had: The oven, where you have to dodge increasing bursts of bread, dodge around ink columns, and move swiftly around the arena to avoid the hail of ink. The samurai, where you have to dodge vertical and horizontal flings as well as rolls, trying to close distance when he is vulnerable and run away or sidestep when he attacks. The Neo octostomp, where you have to keep a wide distance and utilize tactful movement to close the distance when he is vulnerable to bust his buckles. And the shower, where you had to utilize cover while still taking in information to know when he is charging and where to pop up on the tall walls and strike. The fights of Deep Cut can be summarized by shoot, shoot, shoot and they're dead. Shoot the eels then shoot frye, shoot the shark then shoot shiver, get radar then kill big man in 15 seconds by shooting his silhouette. They aren't bad, but they are not as engaging as S2's boss fights.
My hot take is that it would be fine to give missile to good weapons now, between the spammability and radius nerfs it’s not too overpowering and would be good for checking chargers on maps like mincemeat or brinewater. As long as they keep it on weapons that can’t sit back and leave it at 200p minimum for good painters it would be fine
Hot take: Tripple splashdown is way to OP. It has the same blast area and a booyah bomb (almost) and if you hit an indirect you can score some crazy chip damage. It also has very little counters and is more of a panic button then booyah bomb is. (To clarify this is referring to version 6.0.0)

It's just it's main gimmick doesn't work when other things do the same thing better. It's gimmick is to have low but consistent spread to strafe around with and chip people do death with. Biggest problem is wiper does this exact thing but doesn't need run speed, and doesn't have any rng. Wiper also has a long range mode, can attack through ledges, and has a one shot. Nova is just completely outclassed in everything but paint, so it turns into a paint bot instead.
@harmless9336 I agree, though most of the main weapons in this game are to weak or follow a specific role, but imo Nova has a lot of potential to be a good/fun if buffed right.
Yeah, it doesn't make sense that they brought back attributes of Splatoon 1 Dual Squelcher but then proceeded to nerf it in some of the worst possible ways. Dual Squelcher was already not good, and they nerfed its accuracy and damage for what reason? A worse version of a gimmick that Splash and Squeezer already have?
The worse shooters are the better the game plays. Good shooters only give more special spammy metas that bleed to all levels of play. I still believe pro, l3, and pre buff dualies were perfectly fine with pre nerf crab and splash having crab was the real problem
I do think shooters should still be good considering that they're the most accessible weapons in the game, but ever since the end of Splatoon 2 they've been continuously buffing shooters that are already incredible and that absolutely needs to stop. They should also start buffing other weapons in the game, especially ones that do well against shooters (which also means fixing the netcode for brella functionality)
@@Pearl_Blossom You said it! Although I get why they didn't do a lot in the recent patch, they really didn't need to buff shooter-type weapons like the 96 Gal (which is already problematic in Clam Blitz). Brellas, even with a good kit, still need a buff as right now it's just an inkjet farming weapon at best.
The ranking system specifically how ranking up and down should work. One after -500 points you lose rank. It’s already hard to get to this point so it shouldn’t be too bad. But the reason is for the worse part of the system. The rank resets. Having your rank go one rank down doesn’t help anyone. Newer or worser players are paired with better players. This makes it hard for people to rank up again or just play. And if your like me and are good at this game and can win series early the rank up battles can still screw you over. Getting rid of the rank resets and rank up battles can make playing series actually better and easier. It doesn’t match players with worser ones it doesn’t get rid of your hard work and it doesn’t waste so much time when you get that rank up battle just to lose all 3 and have to do it all again. Seriously it took me 10 rank up battles to get back to s+ despite winning 5 0 on my series and getting all medals and carrying just for me to get atrocious teams and lose the rank up battles. And that’s this season having to do it for every season is tiring and out right counterproductive just for me to be forced back to s like a lot of others who get tired of the game because of this. My Splatoon 3 Hot (or tepid?) Takes: 1 - Swig Express is severely underrated. 2- Marooner's bay is the 2nd worst Salmon Run map, not the worst. 3 - Splattershot Jr and its custom kit are both pretty rubbish in terms of the specials they got.
Here's my hot take, I don't think Urchin Underpass would translate into Splatoon 3 very well, the stage is surrounded by walls making Ink Jet and Zipcaster potentially able to get into annoying spots while Triple Inkstrike, Super Chump, Crab Tank, Trizooka and possibly some other specials would be weakened by how closed in the stage is, if Urchin Underpass does come to Splatoon 3 it'll likely come with drastic changes and at that point I feel that most people would be disappointed. A second hot take is that Angle Shooter isn't that bad, it does still need some buffs but even then it's really not as bad as people make it out to be.
I dont see how having a stage where certain specials are stronger or weaker would be a factor in porting the stage over. There are already tons of maps that have specials that are definitively stronger than others (zooka on shipshape lol). i don't think having annoying spots to take will make a certain special broken - anchov in S2 had an insane vantage point for inkjet that overlooked the entire enemy plat but that didn't make it broken, or everything else unplayable.
@@KallMeQul It's hard to really explain without visuals but just looking at the stage I see issues that'd need to be fixed for it to feel good in Splatoon 3, also just in general all returning Splatoon 1 stages have received pretty substantial changes anyway so Urchin Underpass would likely be no different and again would people be okay with that?

No, Dynamo is the best weapon ever, why? Because it's so fucking cool, it makes u feel powerful, and it's a very strong annoying weapon to deal with in its best favorable situations imo!
I’m going to disagree with you on the vunder one. That thing does not have a good kit. The sub weapon, Ink Mine, barely combos with the main weapon, can’t combo on command, can’t combo with the special weapon, rarely ever activates Undercover’s gimmick. The special weapon, Reefslider, can combo with the main weapon if your aim is spot on and the enemy didn’t splat you immediately after the special ends. Then, of course, you have Undercover being mid. With vbrella, the main weapon itself can suffer from lack of paint, so something cheap that can be slapped down and paint is alright on it. It can be used in an emergency during a fight. Not the best, but not the worst. The big one is the special weapon: Tristrike. It may lock you out of your main weapon until it’s thrown, but that’s not as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Brella likes stalling fights, and not having your shield can be annoying for it, but you don’t use Tristrike in the middle of a fight. When you’re starting a push, that’s when you should throw Tristrike, not during a fight. It’s still not a good kit for Brella, but it’s not as bad as people say. So yeah TL;DR Vunder is still worse than Vbrella, even though neither of them should be used over Sunder and SBrella
I'd argue mine has a lot more synergy with undercover than you're making it out to be, definitely more than vrella has with sprinkler. It does combo, you lure someone over them and it goes from a 3shot to a 2shot, paints their feet, and marks them for teammates to come support. Marking people and being able to get assists off it is a very good bonus. Reefslider is absolutely azz though.
@@KallMeQul You forget, this is Ink Mine. It takes so long to explode that you can absolutely Squid Roll away. Then that’s not a reliable source of damage. The tracking is nice, but only if your teammates can reliably combo off of it, which isn’t going to happen in SoloQ. Oh right, and it’s only in one spot. You have to hope that the enemy walks right over it. If they don’t, you’re fresh out of luck. They can also paint over it, which will activate it, without even tracking anyone if they’re not close enough. With Sprinker, you can at least put it down to passively paint, and it might help you in a fight, for immediate paint at your feet, which Ink Mine can’t do.
the trick to ink mine is to place them in spots that enemies have to walk over and in spots that you already plan to take fights in. there isn't as much hope and luck involved - you intentionally bait a fight over an area thats already been booby-trapped. people dont tend to think about rolling to parry a mine when theyre being shot at the same time. and being able to leave a mark on enemies is still a net positive for a weapon that thrives on assists, better than no chance at all. dont get me wrong, ink mine is not a very strong sub weapon, undercover has other options it would like better (torpedo lol), but it's not useless and the synergy is there (way better than mines on flingza, bare minumum). and i'd rather have mine on undercover over subs like suction, curling, sprinkler or wall
I love zip to death. I got 4* on all the weapons, but I think most reason for its downfall is players learning the game. If you jump up from a zip, most players are learning the muscle memory to shoot it down like a splashdown
@Quackwholikesvac73 I love it to death as well but I have 5* on stamper and light tetras and 4 star on octobrush. Yeah it is really difficult to use and can be killed but if used correctly its really good
I feel that you should move your avatar over to the left side of the screen. I think that placing yourself directly in the middle of the screen makes it feel like you're blocking the viewer from seeing the action, it has rude energy. Placing yourself to the side more creates the mental illusion that the viewer is spending time with you side by side instead.
@@rubengarcia7962 Stamp can do a lot of things Kraken can’t. It can cross grids, has better paint, is more versatile, has a bigger hitbox, can splat enemys more easily and has no endlag. Kraken is still much better than Stamp but I would not say that it is a better Stamp. The biggest problem it has is inconsistency. Nothing Stamp is supposed to do works a 100%. The only thing that works is that the user takes damage in rush-mode if you shoot at their feet. That’s the only reliable thing about the special.

Zipcaster is best special in the game smh
Casually, probably. Competitively, absolutely not.
@@PigeonNHLdefinitely not in casual as well
@@abdulrahiimliadi2002 I mean that it's one of the most fun specials to use casually
Ultra Stamp is the worst Special in the game.
Counterpoint: funni giant hammer :)
Jokes aside yeah it's not very good unfortunately
Kraken can do everything it can do (besides the throw) but better. It’s honestly better to throw it instead of using the rush.
@@rubengarcia7962 sometimes Stamp is just Burst Bomb²
@@rubengarcia7962 Stamp can do a lot of things Kraken can’t. It can cross grids, has better paint, is more versatile, has a bigger hitbox, can splat enemys more easily and has no endlag.
Kraken is still much better than Stamp but I would not say that it is a better Stamp.
The biggest problem it has is inconsistency. Nothing Stamp is supposed to do works a 100%. The only thing that works is that the user takes damage in rush-mode if you shoot at their feet. That’s the only reliable thing about the special.
@@rubengarcia7962Fr Stamp is just budget kraken
Remove X rank and replace it with League, add the ranked modes to some arcade mode ig and if you actually want to play ranked just do league.
Bro we don't want to look at your minimally animated OC during lengthy explanations. Unblur the background, put your OC to the side, and give us something to watch
I can't believe this has to be a hot take but everyone who puts in their names "gay", "trans", "homo" and such should be automatically banned from online play unless they change their name. This is inappropriate and annoying as hell.
How so?
@@beepybopbap Political and sexual themes should really not be in the game. Besides, it's the same as vegans telling you they're vegan every chance they get.
