Thanks for this great video. I plan to make one of these for our son's summer wedding. Just what I was looking for.

Ah I’m so glad! Do you think a full pattern would be helpful for the stars? I’ve been toying around with the idea and would love some thoughts!

I am making one of these now and just practiced signing one. Do you have any suggestions for stabilizing the block for signing? It catches on on the pen, especially on the upstroke! And any suggestions of things people can write? Would it be tasteless to put a printed sheet with ideas on it? Eeek

Hello! Love the sawtooth star, going to make a retirement quilt. Not understanding the freezer paper part, do you sew it in or ?? Is there a video? Thanks for the awesome ideas!

I haven't personally used the freezer paper method, but my understanding is that you would iron it onto the back of the fabric just for the part when people write on the fabric, and then peel it off before sewing the blocks together. If you try it out, let me know how it works :)

How I wish your video had been available two years ago when my son sprung the request on me about two weeks or less before the wedding. Needless to say I said yes. Planned to do Irish chain and incorporate some fabrics which were used in quilt for her granny who had died shortly before. I would like to scan and print the signatures before putting the quilt together to save. Any advice. They are all in colour and some have little drawings.

Thank you for this video. Did you and if you did, how did you prep your fabric? I'm thinking more about the marker staying on the fabric and how it will react to unprepared
    fabric.

Oh that’s a good question! I didn’t do a test for prepped vs unprepped fabric, so I’m not an expert on that. But, I will say, I use a little bit of best press while I’m making the blocks so they did have a little bit of extra stiffness!

@@HomemadeEmilyJane Thank you. Did you do anything special for the marker to go on the fabric? Did you have to prewash so the marker would adhere/not run/stay permanent?
