I made a signature quilt as the guest book for my wedding! It was mostly white spaces for signing, and it coordinated with the colors of the wedding, but also our living room. It stays on the couch, and we get to remember our wedding and the love of our family every day.
Writing inspirational quotes in the signature spaces would be another way to use this pattern! That would be a great quilt for a wedding shower or ceremony, friends gathering, high school/college graduation, someone going through difficult times, etc.
Great idea. I could see this as a holiday runner (Thanksgiving, Christmas etc). Make it first, leaving the signatures blank- then have your guests "sign in" for a lovely remembrance of the holiday.
My grandson is very interested in our ancestry. He has been building our family tree for quite some time. This may be the quilt I was looking for to create for his 12 yr old birthday gift. I may get signatures of my immediate family, siblings and their children. Hmm. The possibilities are endless.
When I visited relatives in Jackson, Cape Girardeau area in '03, I took squares of muslin for them to sign & STILL have not made anything with them. Obviously I couldn't use them to make this pattern, but this will jump start me to do SOMETHING with them :) Great project!
This is such a beautiful quilt and the fabric is awesome. This quilt would be a wonderful gift as a wedding gift. The 'signature' strips could be sent out along with the wedding invitation. It could also be a wonderful for a graduate ... they can gather classmate's signatures.
My grandmother made, all by hand, quilting too, a signature quilt, with a little different look than yours and gave it to me when I was a teenager! It was a treasure and when my daughter married she took it with her! I did not know it at the time but she later told me she had taken it. I was happy she loved it as much as I did! That quilt is really old and is still loved! It will out live me! Thanks so much for this tutorial as I have thought of making one similar from my own mother’s dresses she wore before her death…Thanks again…
I thought that quilt behind you was beautiful when I saw it but it became even more beautiful when I saw what it actually was. Such a wonderful idea. And just beautiful.
When I made signature quilts for our school’s graduating seniors, I placed the rectangles on sticky mounting boards and it was very easy for the kids to sign.
Oh my gosh! I have been racking my brain trying to think of a special quilt for my oldest brother and his wife who bought a beautiful and large "home on wheels" It has a king size bed and we are a very large family...this is so perfect! Can't wait to get signature blocks sent out!!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
Beautiful and perfect timing as there will be a celebration of life for a family member in August and some of us in the family were wondering what we could do for the husband of the deceased. We could get the signatures of the attendees and send strips/blocks to those that couldn't make it.
I love this quilt. It will be a great gift quilt. I love your honesty and transparency. We all struggle with things in life. You make me feel better about my own struggles. Thanks for your inspiration. 🥰
What a great idea. I’m thinking about making a signature quilt with no names and have everyone sign it when we’re together. My family is all over the country.
I love the idea of a signature quilt. I'm going to make a grandparents quilt for our 1st granddaughter with all her grandparents signatures. Thank you for sharing this fantastic idea.
Cheryl, your lovely idea took my breath away! As someone who was born after both my grandmothers had passed, I just can't imagine what a treasure your quilt will be for your 1st granddaughter! Congrats and happy sewing!
This is a Fantastic idea. I can think of several reason to make a quilt like this, Grandma's BD, with all her family. Wedding, with all the guest. New Mom's with all her friends and family for the baby as a keep sake. Co-Workers as a retirement gift.. THANKS JENNY and all MSQC folks for another GREAT Quilt. This is one I will be making a lot of. : )
I love the idea of sending the strips to family members and having them right inspirational thoughts or some little quote of their own and then making a throw for the couch or picnic blanket with it blocks and sending it back to them
Great idea for church groups, social clubs, sports teams and of course, families. I love the blue, yellow and green colors in the quilt. It’s so cheerful!
Love the quilt. Visiting family the weekend and have the signature stripes in my stash. Couldn’t have been more perfect timing. Thank you and as they say the early bird gets the worm. It’s 4am at my house. Your the best
My daughter and I made a signature quilt, but we had everyone sign on a piece of paper cut to the finished size of the block. I then digitized all the signatures and used my embroidery machine to embroider all the signatures on the blocks we cut. It took many hours doing the signatures. This would probably have taken us less time. I'll keep this idea for any future signature quilt. Thanks for the great video!
It will also make a Perfect Wedding Gift. I made some a bit different with bigger prices for people to write on. And all the guest did write a peace. That was always a hit.
Love the inspiration and this block is fabulous. So many quilts can be made for the Signature Quilt from weddings, anniversaries and retirements. Love yours is a memory quilt for your precious family.
One of our favorites surgeons is retiring in October. I'm going to make the quilt and my operating room peeps are contributing to the purchase. It's a great idea!
What a beautiful quilt. Your teaching strategies and personal experience in this big beautiful quilting world are priceless. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us. Blessings to y'all.
What a wonderful quilt! Thanks so much for sharing! I am working on restoring an old quilt with embroidered names and best wishes, so this really is a case of everything old is new again!
I’m thinking if making the blocks individually, they can make great hot pads or mug rugs with a recipient’s name and or inspired quotation. We need more words on quilt blocks, personalization for the win!
What a wonderful and meaningful idea! I just love it and hope to make my own for my family. Thank you Jenny! Always so creative and bringing us such beautiful project ideas. Debbie
Dear Jenny, this is a great idea. We have a friend, who is moving to another state. So, thanks to you, I will be making this quilt, sending the stripes to friends for their signatures. Many thanks for a wonderful idea and gift for her.
This is a beautiful quilt! I want to make one for my family now. Thank you for all your videos, they truly are the best! You make me feel like I can sew any pattern, no matter how complicated it looks. God bless you for sharing your amazing talent.💕
Beautiful quilt Jenny! I will make one smaller version for my granddaughter, yesterday was her birthday. She is 21 and going to University in September. Thank you for the inspiration.
I love this idea! You always make quilting exciting and fresh Miss Jenny. Thanks for taking the time to inspire, entertain, and most important…teach us new techniques and designs to enjoy quilting even more. 🤗🤗
I loved this Jenny. I could watch you and your girls all day long. Amazingly helpful techniques. Sending love from Caroline from Newcastle upon Tyne. England ❤️🌈
Hint: at about 15'00" I have found with those sashing + cornerstone fitting perfectly with the block + sashing, even though the blocks are trued up, it can be tricky to get them to line up. Seems the narrow sashing + cornerstone has more give. Perhaps cutting the sashing pieces on lengthwise grain will help 💕
LOVE this quilt Jenny!! I can see it as a family tree type of quilt or with birthdays, so many possibilities! 😍 And your cornerstones are wonderful, they make a nine-patch pattern!❤️❤️❤️
Can't wait to make this quilt for my parents 60th wedding anniversary this coming August 16th. It will make me work in the fast forward version but it will be worth it. Thanks for the fantastic idea! ❤
Jenny, what a beautiful quilt and idea! Your are a marvelous instructor and I learned to quilt from you during the pandemic. I am hoping to visit your town in the near future.
What a beautiful line of fabric! And such a great idea for bringing the family together. I love that you put the year, and the kids’ area with them. Another fabulous idea. I hope y’all are enjoying your time together and staying well! Till next time, happy quilting! 🧵
Wow! That's a lot of family members. I wouldn't have near the number of signatures you have. Mine would have to be a much smaller quilt. It's very pretty, though.
Jenny, please don’t EVER retire! We SO enjoy your teaching and your love of making quilts. You are an inspiration to quilters every where.

My Mom made me a signature quilt for my wedding 26 years ago - it is one of my most prized possessions.

Hi Carol
Beautiful quilt! I just saw this fabric in the “New Arrivals” and I fell in love with it. Blue, yellow, and white are so pretty together.
I agree. I love blue & white but I really love blue yellow & white.
This would be a great wedding gift and bring it to the reception to have everyone sign.
This would be a great wedding gift - put it on display at a reception and have guests sign their family's name!
Hi Joanna

This is so timely! I've been thinking about starting a signature quilt while everyone is here this summer.
It will also make a Perfect Wedding Gift. I made some a bit different with bigger prices for people to write on. And all the guest did write a peace. That was always a hit.
