- What’s up guys?! Here’s my review of the 2024 Toyota Supra 3.0 inline 6 turbo with the ZF 8 speed automatic transmission. I feature a launch edition 2020 model with all up to date specs and include the most important changes to the platform with this mk5 generation. It might not be a 2JZ mk4 Supra from the fast and furious, but this Toyota and BMW partnership actually faired pretty well for the Supra fans of the 21st century!

Looks awesome in yellow black and Red
Absolutely! Yellow is a great sports car color. 😎
Planning on getting one
Nice! They’re super fun! You gonna go with the auto or manual?
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 manual
You won't regret it. I have a '22 3.0 Premium (auto), and here I am watching videos of it because I'm at work right now and can't drive it😁
do you think it would be a wise decision in terms of reliability to get one as a daily driver and only car?
That’s a tough question. I would hope so, because these are super cool and very fun. If you live in a snowy climate you’d definitely need a dedicated set of winter tires. Maybe check out the social media forums and hear from owners who daily theirs! Best of luck! 🙂
I would not drive it on snow-covered roads. Other than that, it would be a great daily. I take my 2024 out as often as I can.
Editing is a little frantic this time, but still a good video!
I appreciate your feedback, thanks for watching! 🙂
They pushed the front wheel axel to the very front and planted the engine right behind it for 50/50 weight distribution. My 06 Porsche Cayman S also has 50:50 by placing the engine right in front of the rear axel. But my flax six adds to lower centre gravity.
Great insight! Yeah, 50/50 weight distribution is awesome! My 23 Miata is set up similarly, front mid engine, and 50/50 with an average driver in the seat.
this has the 2022 and prior year Supra wheels? Is this really a 2024?
No, it was actually a 2020 launch edition. My bad I just added the asterisks to the year. In the video at least 1-2x I briefly mentioned the year but provided 2024 specs. Sorry about the confusion. 😅
no big deal, just want to make sure you are mentioning the correct information. great vid! and nice review of that color@@AutomotiveAnonymous208
👍🏻👍🏻
Own the 45th anniversary addition... In my humble opinion, I am in love
That’s a sweet Supra! I’m glad you’re enjoying it. 😎
Same here. My 45th is in Mikan Blast color.
where did you get it? I've been on the hunt for one, no one seems to have them. what did you pay in the end?
@@dealerslicenseopsI got it in NY ended up paying a little over the MSRP for it- after I did some PPF and ceramic coating well worth it
My question is the 3.0 worth it or the 3.0 premium I am leaning more towards the regular 3.0
I think it’s just a matter of preference! As long as you get the 3.0 I think you’re in great shape! 😉
Interior colors choice are the only difference in regular and premium.
The new Supra has the BMW engine.
Toyota went to BMW for their engine, but Toyota told BMW that they had to bring Up the quality and reliability of Toyota or Toyota was going to go somewhere else.
So BMW did indeed bring Up their reliability.
L 😂 L
@@FullTraderAlchemist Look it up smart guy
@@Doc1855 good
this is why im getting a supra !!!
BMW is now rated #1 of more than 35 auto companies in Consumer Reports magazine's list of best to worst in their April 2024 Auto Edition. Their rating reflects the results of tens of thousands of surveys and direct testing. It includes individual categories that include reliability, quality of build, performance, and safety features/crash tests.
Nice ride Sir
It was a very fun one to get to drive! 🙂
Now it needs new rear tires 😂. Reminds me of my past M340i.
Oh yeah, those would help a lot. Way to much wheel spin if not being ultra conservative. 😅
This car reminds me of a Z4 I used to own. Very fun to drive.
Z4’s are sweet! This Supra was a lot more entertaining than most of the sports cars I get to drive. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208how much you you paid out the door??
The Supra is on a different level as far as sportiness is concerned. The Z4 is more of a GT car.
shame, either that dealer lied to you or they were lied to. this is not at all a 2024 model
you even mention this is just an updated 2020 model, which it is
You’re right, this is a 2020 launch edition! So I provided 2024 pricing related specs! Thanks for watching. 🙂
I'm looking to buy a 2024 model in MT of course. The only thing the AT has over the MT in my book is the extra exhaust crackles. MT is a must for me.
I guess your book doesn't include faster acceleration, better efficiency, and radar cruise for longer trips.
@davepaturno4290 no, my book trades all that for the pleasure of driving manual. Thanks.
@20spray1 I've never limited myself to manual-only driving. I guess getting stuck in traffic jams reinforced that decision. Currently, my manual car is a Mazda MX5 with PRHT. I drive it outside of rush hours on warm, sunny days. My auto Supra fills in on days when I need to sip on a coffee while hitting patches of traffic. Then, when traffic clears, hit the Sport button and get slammed into the seat within microseconds.
Jack Tors, car reviewer
Not sure who that is, lol. But thanks for watching! 😅
I don’t think this is a 2024 model lion at the wheels
You’re right, I used the 2024 specs for relevancy. But it was one of the launch edition that I used to demonstrate with, if I remember correctly.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 wym 2024 specs ?
The car is awesome but the back spoiler looks weird it should be not round more square
The center console is permanently set for right side drive...All thay money and you can't change the console for American cars. Will never buy.
that is not a 5 second 0 to 60
Would you care to elaborate? Lol.
Literally the car starts to accelerate at 12:11 and he hits 60 at 12:16 so I don’t understand your argument
Lol, GPS doesn’t lie. 😉
Car & Driver magazine clocked the automatic at 3.7 seconds from 0-60 mph.
How can i justify 60 grand for a 3.0L when i can get a 5.0l for less?
You raise a good point. If you’re looking at these cars purely from a performance perspective dollar standpoint the 5.0 wins. I’ve driven a couple S550 GT’s and they were all super impressive, but there’s a lot of character to these GRs!
Show me a 5.0l that goes 0-60in 3.7 seconds. Car and driver tested this car on a prepped track and it almost has the same 0-60 as a hellcat challenger. I recently bought this car and it’s definitely worth what it cost if you have the money. The handling is great on it and even on the street your gonna be faster then most of the people out there. Plus on street conditions this car is gonna get traction way before that big ass muscle car does. And if for some reason almost 400 horsepower isn’t enough it only takes a few bolt ons and a hood tune to give this car 600+ hp.
It's faster and looks better than a mustang
I had 2019 5.0 pp1 10 speed and i bought the 45th anniversary.. The supra is better and is faster..
Ahh,the bmw supra
Yes, lol.
You lost me at automatic….
Only problem with this car its still a rubbish bmw z4 underneath and not a proper supra like the mk4 before this 1
It’s anything but rubbish. It’s also not jUsT a Z4, toyota was making a ton of improvements. And B58 is just as legendary as 2JZ and I actually have a 2JZ in my lexus and B58 in my bimmer and both are great engines. Your comment suggests you have / had neither.
@@serge8314 Yeah, i'd hardly call the B58, one of the most highly regarded tuner engines as "Rubbish'.
60k for a “sports car” that does 0-60 in 5 second
That’s a good point, lol. Although I will say if I could test this with fresh tires at sea level on a sticky track it definitely could run the high 3’s without rollout that it’s rated. It was a very realistic but not ideal test for this car where I ran it. And I will also say that I’ve driven cars that have run better times here, but have been much less enjoyable to drive as this Supra was! 😁
3.7 seconds according to Car & Driver magazine
3.7 would definitely be in perfect conditions and without counting rollout, so likely a true 4.0 flat. My 5s time wasn’t great but it’s real world conditions and depending on driver mod its realistically what it would run on the streets. 😔 lol.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 According to Car & Driver, "Our GPS-based Racelogic VBox test equipment is accurate enough to measure the first foot of rollout, so starting with the December 2019 issue, we're changing our acceleration reporting." I guess their 3.7 second time occurred before my Supra was tested, so perhaps it is accurate.
Say it with me: Aftermarket
I'll admit. I jumped to the part that the automatic transmission was shown. And stopped watching.
Lol. 😅
Missin out
You can’t shift faster than a computer bozo
cool story, bro.
The automatic Supra is faster and more efficient than the manual version.
I'm stuck between a normal supra or the 40th anniversary one 😅
Can’t go wrong either way! This was such a fun car. I waited too long to drive one, lol.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I'm obsessed with supra, like it was love at 1st sight 😆
45th anniversary GR Supra is a 2024. That's what I have.
