thanks for the video, mine was a 2010 awd, little different, my ecm isn't attached the box that yours was, and mine seems way more covered by hoses and wiring harness, but i got it figured out!

Like how did you get it to line back up???? Is the bottom part supposed to touch before I put the bolt back in or do the bolts make them touch....it's like the Bottom part is far away from the hole
I just discovered that my daughter's new to her 09 CTS isn't charging at idle. When the RPM climbs up some it charges some, just not at idle. I first determined that with a volt meter and then I disconnected the battery cable clamp and with no battery attached it ran for about 10 seconds before it died. $223 for one at Napa which is competitive with the other local parts places. They do have a 20% off promo code online so that will help some. 20OFF is the code in case anyone could use 20% off of $100 or more on an order.
@@tntoverhaulllc hello. He didn’t answer but I’m having the same issue. I have the sales codes po300 po301 po302 etc. says I have random misfire all 6 cylinders. Turns out I now have a bad alternator a month after those codes appeared
Wish this was for the 2.8. I've spent and hour trying to get the alternator power cable nut off. The rubber boot won't slide up so I can't get a socket on it. And getting a wrench on it is almost impossible.
@@trevorgattenby I got the rubber boot lifted, but it doesn't slide up the wire and it stopped the socket from seating fully. Finally got it. It was literally the most frustrating alternator change in history. Very little room. You have to go by feel instead of sight. My left hand is chewed up from shoving my hand in to guide the ratchet with my other hand lol.
Change alternator without disconnecting the battery now car does not work it turns on when jump start running weird and than died.. what went wrong and how can I fix it ? Thanks
No not yet have them try run the computer reads error.. alternator worked but key won’t get released and The gages not working either.. it’s been parked since.. help please 💞
Maria Garcia it sounds to me like the battery is bad low voltage causes all kinds of issues on the. See if you can get the battery out and take it to a parts store for testing of the cells
TNT Overhaul thank for your great advice while removing battery to have it checked double check and cleaned connections where alternator had been replaced it wasn’t snapped completely 🤦🏻♀️.. thank you so much 😊
Idk, I just did my 2012 3.6 Coupe today and it was...much harder than this video shows. Two of the three bolts are easy, but one you NEED a standard wrench for as its too close to a brake line and metal panel for a socket to fit, and there is no room to pull forward the alt to reach the nut on the cable. Worst of all getting the old alt out and the new one is is near impossible without removing the coolant lines ha... The video did still help tho. This and the other popular CTS alt replacement video really need to clarify what years they represent, and what body styles, as neither was very accurate to a 2012 Coupe

Could a bad alternator cause misfire codes. I’ve had the codes read. Says I’m misfiring on all 6 cylinders. Cars running fine though

With battery disconnected, can you use flathead screwdriver to"pick" the rubber boot off?

Completed this without the serpentine belt tool & without removing everything. Only thing I removed was the PCM.
Did you use the obd to cig lighter before disconnecting the battery?
Can I just buy a alternator from Autozone or does it have to be OEM alternator

Ok you didn't take off the battery from the back of the car you took the wire from the front is this right
