I'm most excited to see the red suit with the Lady Dandy waistcoat. I think the Rita blouses are right up your alley, so I'm looking forward to those, too. May the sewing gods smile on you! 🦚🔵🧵

They will all be beautiful, Sian! I particularly love the Night and Day dress. I am using one of the views as inspiration for a dress I plan to cobble together from one of my self-drafted bodice patterns, my favourite bishop sleeve pattern, and a gathered skirt attached at dropped waist level. Should be pretty 😍 🤞 At least I shall have fun trying!

The magnets for cape closures ARE a good idea. They will work. I did the closure and also magnet closures when I made a vintage Butterrick cape pattern for my daughter. Those magnets are very strong.

Yay! I love these patterns 🥰 I’ve just made a mock-up of the Lucille trousers. The pockets are awesome 😂 and the crotch is super comfortable. The waist is too high for my short body so I’m rethinking the waistband and need to try a really drapey fabric as the the fabric I used is overwhelming my frame. We succeed or we learn. I’ve made two Rita blouses which I love. I would use cotten with a tiny bit of stretch next time as getting them off is harder than getting them on 🙄 The pencil stanwyck stumped me as it has extra hip/bum shaping that isn’t on me. 😅 I love your fabric choices ❤ You can do it!

I love all your plans! I actually want to make the waistcoat with the lucille trousers too. I have made the trousers but they turned out huge on me so I need to watch that fit clinic. Also you inspire me sooo much with your goal of doing the things that scare you. I will try this too and not only with sewing... ❤️

Charm patterns are such your style! I'm guessing that if you stick with one company you only need to learn once what to do with their block to fit it. WRT removable collars, I have a RTW blazer that has one. Tiny buttons are hidden inside the blazer collar and the fake fur bit has little loops of elastic that fasten around the buttons. Hope that helps!

All of your ideas look wonderful. You will do great with these projects. You totally have the skills to take these on. Break them down into small parts and get them done. I am most exited to see the process of how you do these makes. It will be so nice to see you stretch yourself. It will give me the motivation to do the same. Lets not forget to have fun through the frustrations that are inevitable and remember that is how we learn what works🥰😁.

Make the Society dress *and* the Lamour dress, I loved the process of making mine & I'd really like to see your take on it... Have to admit I have the Rita & Dorothy on my 'to buy' list for this year but want to make more progress working through the patterns of Gertie's I already have, given my Charm patterns collection, Simplicity & Butterick Gertie collection, my patreon Gertie collection and Gertie book collection!! You are going to smash M9 again, I know it 💛

It will work! I found with pencil skirts, I can ear them with more ease in the hips and legs. The silhouette is there but more ease. My plan is I am making a dressy version of the Sienna maker jacket (with parts morphed on), make some blouses, and if the jacket works, I will make a wool crepe one and a rayon challis one for summer. I am also going to fit my first corset by the end of the year for dress corselettes.

Yay! I've been waiting for this one. 😉 I'm so excited to see how these come together into a collection throughout the year.

Greetings Sian. Thanks for the inspiration. I liked what you did last year by choosing to work with D & D patterns for your make nine. I think I'll "borrow" that idea and work with the MimiG patterns issued by Simplicity. I have all of them, so the only problem is choosing nine and then selecting the fabric. But it's a start. I am looking forward to seeing your "Spicy Pirate Diva" (my name) collection reveals.

    *Laughs at myself*
I'm looking forward to all of the HUGE sleeves, anything with a fitted bodice, and anything with a twirly skirt! So that's nearly EVERYTHING in your list of projects.
I made a hobble skirt/wiggle skirt in year one of apparel design school. I then wore the muslin and the wool skirts To Death. I mean, they were literally were falling apart but I ADORED them. I think you will love how snatched the Stanwyck skirt will make your waist appear. *Winks cheerily*

Yay so great to finally see this video and your plans! ❤ Love Charm patterns and I’ve been a Patreon since month 2 so also have lots of these patterns… I got the Lana and NIght and Day for Xmas so fab that you’re making those too. I’m not going to make the Lana bodice until I’m at my ideal weight just because it would be so hard to adjust I think. I’ve made 3 Ritas so far, 1 with bishop sleeves that were HUGE - I ended up taking them up to 3/4 length and am much happier with that. I’ve made the Stanwyck circle skirt twice but not the pencil skirt yet…

  • @krazycarole

I am looking forward to seeing all these patterns made up as I love the designs but I think that they would be too formal for the life that I lead. Although I might buy the patterns for the princess coat, Rita blouse and pencil skirt. I am also interested in the construction of the waterfall dress, as I think it would make a wonderful special occasion dress but I understand if it's not your thing as the back does not show a defined waistline.

    @nimuenorth6295 ปีที่แล้ว

All the pretty plans! 😍 I like the whole outfit idea around the Lady Dandy waistcoat the best. But the dresses will be gorgeous, I’m sure. Are you familiar with flipper bones to anchor strapless dresses to a corset and prevent them slipping down? I find them very intriguing because I dislike strapless anything for that very reason. I’m just nowhere near tackling a proper corset for myself. ❤

I absolutely LOVE the society dress too and it’s barged it’s way into my plans! I’d actually planned to hack the woven similar 40s style dress (can’t remember the number but you’ve made it) into a knit dress so brilliant I don’t have to now. Have you thought about once you’ve made and fitted the LIz that you might look to hack the bust/straps to be like your Trashy Diva dresses? I’d love to see that - it’s one of the few patterns I’ve not got because I have narrow sloped shoulders and just don’t think it’ll work for me as is… 🤔

I just love this idea! I have never participated in a Make 9 before but I absolutely love the idea of sticking with one pattern company. I am totally stealing this and now I need to decide between Love Notions and Seamwork, two companies that I have a lot of patterns from that I have not made. I love Charm patterns, and 15 years ago they would have been perfect for my lifestyle, but not now. However, you have tempted me with a few of your choices…

Question. Are your colours only for your black hair, and need to change when you dye it another shade? For example the reds will look gorgeous with black hair.

    • @KittenishBehaviourSian

Apparently the way I had my colours done was with my skin tone and eye colour which won't change even though the hair does. :)
