I've always favoured the Cats for the immense space. Electric has come a long way and continues to improve rapidly. Interesting times ahead. Thanks, Nick, great tour. 🇦🇺😀
I just read the other day that Samsung is getting close to commercial production of a solid state battery, probably later this year or early next. I wonder how much that might change the boating world in the next 5-10 years with the increased battery capacity combined with a lighter load. That is exciting to say the least I think.
I'm obsessed with this boat and the concept it embodies. I love the idea of its independence from ports. The size seems right to be able to manage as e.g., a husband-wife team and doesn't require a crew while getting as much space as possible. As some of the other comments have pointed out, this technology is only going to continue to evolve and it will be fascinating to see where things are in another decade or two. My only hesitation about this boat is I worry about her bluewater capabilities in order to move her e.g., from the Med to the Caribbean. I know there's been at least one transoceanic crossing (on a Silent 60?) a couple years ago and she's certified, but I wish there were more data and discussion around its ocean-going capabilities and I do hope that is something Silent continues to focus on--they don't need to make Hallbergs but it'd be great to see them at least bringing the capability for the occasional crossing.
If you crave space above everything else or your a "Green" fanatic then this is the way to go, Beautiful interior with nice finishes and colours. This style of boat is definitely something you can live on permanently moored in a great location or just slowly cruising along. Great tour Nick thank you.
What a great tour of a great yacht! Love the electric drive! Right now, the most efficient commercial solar panels are about 28% efficiency. Imagine what will happen once they get to 50% or 75%...no more diesel! Thanks Nick!
Life like boating is all about compromise and this vessel was a fine example of this. Well done Nick+ a mirror wave (sorry about last tour comment, you were so right)😅
It's very cool and an appropriate build for its purpose, it's a party boat 👍. 268 kw , is a very good power source for the intended use. It's a cool option for a lot of users. Nice find Nick, BTW real sailors don't want the wheel 😆👍 give me a tiller every day 🫡⚓
She a very interesting tri deck boat, love the idea of the solar panels to power the boat. Very spacious, comfortable. A family boat, or owner only or maybe a charter boat ( need to maybe rework some of the cabins ect to cater for that). Flexible in her use of facilities and in her power unit.
It's no Gulf Craft Majesty 175 but Mr Burnham sir I'll take a tour of a new Silent Yacht any day since you brought us the first one on your channel . Anything in the owner operator size range a Silent Yacht has to be in the running for me. I can see myself in my retirement pootaling along at 7 knots tour the coast lines of Europe, nice! I love the total choice of layout because I'm not overly keen on the layout of this one,the saloon not a great lounging area, totally exposed showers with the glass but the fly bridge is great compared to the original lowering solar panelled roof, but that's just me. Nick nothing to sniff at this year so far, keep it up sir Aquaholic ❤️ forever, all the best from Cornwall 🤗🖖✌️
It’s amazing how far the technology has come with solar and silent cruising! This boat is so spacious and it’s energy efficiency is admirable. Think what things will be like in five or ten years.
Lovely boat with many surprises. Extra cabin for son in law 😂, I say this as a father to grown up daughters. Definitely owner operator. Or charter if additional bedroom, if top deck is not a fly bridge, but additional living space. Thanks for the tour Nick 👍
Excellent tour video Nick. A huge space on this boat. I think I would have the upper deck entirely made in to the helm and a captains cabin freeing up the interior space on the main deck for living space and the kitchen.
i just can not fathom how this boat has soooooo much space, up to 6 cabins with ensuite and a crew cabin with ensuite is just insane!, it also always amazes me how wide those hulls are from the inside.
Huge amount of space and the options that gives. Though I like this layout, the option of an upper cabin would be very tempting, those views would be amazing. I'd still want an upper helm, but plenty of space. I love the electric drives. As the technology matures it will just get better.
Great review of a very impressive yacht. It seems prefect for cruising in the Med or Caribbean (draft dependent) in months with plenty of sunshine. Exactly what it’s been designed for.

Solar doesn't have the juice to really run it, the genset is on much of the time and that's less efficient that a direct diesel engine. What these boats COULD do with is one diesel and one electric engine.
@@darthkek1953That's completely false on both points. The solar on that ship can provide a significant amount of its required propulsion energy and diesel electric hybrid systems are the norm on large ships specifically because it's more efficient. So even if this boat would run it's generator 24/7 it would be more efficient than direct drives.
@@Pixelplanet5 this isn't a hybrid engine it is purely electric. Diesel is burn to create electricity stored in the batteries, electricity in the batteries is sent to the motor. I'm always curios why these large electric yachts don't have a large solar array you could deploy when docked or at anchor. Like an umbrella or a large floating array that fed right into the battery bank to cut down on the recharging time. Very nice yacht, and very nice tour!!
It's not pretty, but that's a hell of a lot of space for a 62ft boat. I could live on it quite happily! And amazingly efficient - congrats to Silent for producing a brilliantly sustainable yacht.
Hi Nick, And thank you for this great show of this Silent 62 Tri Deck by Silent Yachts thats need thing is that the propulsion is all electric mostly made out of solar power i am more a fan of the smaller one they have but this one is also stunniung 5 cabins all ensuite and one crew cabin also ensuite what a space is there in the salon and on the upper deck Thanks Nick impresive it is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a machine! Big fan of electric/hybrid drive, love the space gained by just having the electric motor. I'd have the 3rd deck cabin just for me though 😂
The weird On View Loo through the shower seems to be a Silent Hallmark. And did I miss the door to the Fifth/Captains’ Cabin? Assumed there’d be a pocket door but didn’t spot one.
I love the solar and electric propulsion as a concept, I would find it so satisfying knowing the majority of my usage was "free". Of course if you're buying a €4m boat you probably don't fret over a bit of diesel though. But silent, smell-free running must be lovely, especially somewhere you can rely on a good long day of solar generation
Hi Nick, here’s my take on this Yacht. The beam is impressive on the galley deck and above. However every other part of the yacht is compromised in some way. Every cabin seems cramped. Certainly not luxurious or comfortable. When I run a 4 million pound toy, I don’t want to consider which lights to turn off to maintain my battery levels! I just want to start an engine and go. Furthermore once the batteries packs loose their optimum power/charging cycle, how much would it cost to replace? Whats the fire risk to having massive lithium batteries on board, as compared to standard power? I think I would take my money and spend it on a Fairline, Princess, Pearl or Sunseeker. Interesting tour and great video Nick, many thanks 👍
Great looking boat! Fitted out properly, could it go trans-Atlantic? That would be a super enjoyable cruise. With all the storage I saw, you would not be wanting for any supplies I should think. Cheers from Austin Texas!
Great space. I think I would ask foe a few changes to layout. 1/ make that "small captains cabin" at back of first hull into a galley. 2/ remove main deck galley, leaving just a drinks/service counter. 3/ remove the forward "small crew cabin" in front of second hull, and incorporate the space into the masters cabin. Maybe for moving ensuite to that end or a walk in wardobe/dressing room. 4/ remove main deck helm. Put helm on upper deck, and combine it with a skylounge area instead of the "master cabin" Nick mentioned. Still leaving a huge upper deck area/terrace at the rear of the skylounge. As you can tell, I'm picky about layouts. 😆 But I'm all about maximising interior space because UK weather isn't the med.
Absolutely agree with all of this! Moving the main helm on the upper deck would also mean that you could completely avoid light pollution from people doing their thing (reading/watching TV/playing games/etc.) in the main living area, to allow safe sailing after dark, though of course the range would be severely limited at nighttime. Would be interesting to know how much power the generator can deliver.
So, no crew space at all? I think the reality of the size of this vessel would sink in after a while and some kind of crew would be needed to fully enjoy it. Maybe instead of an owner's cabin on the upper deck, it could be configured as an upper helm pilothouse with a captain's cabin.
@@FlintIronstag23 it's just under 19mtrs. And 9mtrs wide. Maybe some assistance with blindsides, but there is camera systems available for that. With a family or friends on board it need not a crew, unless more interested in being a passenger.
@@keithianlocke So why put the galley down on the lower level if you don't plan on having any paid crew? If it is just family and friends aboard, why have somebody stuck below decks in the galley instead of being able to interact with everyone else on the main deck?
@FlintIronstag23 because in my family the cooking element isn't the social aspect of food. Its the sitting down together and eating that is. And thers no reason why the person in charge of cooking that meal has to be on their own. Looking at the fridge freezer at back on salon next to stairs, it could even be possible to put a dumb waiter from the cabin/galley to main deck. Might even line up so it can go up to back of skylounge too.
How fast do petrol powered cats of this boat go? It’s perfect, only thing it’s missing is some sort of turbo mode so you can hop across the Gulf Stream faster. It’s 60 miles to Bimini.

Very nice. Lots of space. Only change id do is having hybird back up my cabin is full solar and its high maintence and short live batteries. Id like to see hydrogen system but its beautiful boat..
She is certainly a lovely boat and I think the economy and range are fabulous Sadly though, the saloon area definitely needs to be bigger. Seating for 3 or 4 on a single settee is not enough for those occasional wet days.
Hmmm solar power in it's infancy! Glass walls in the shower compartment, so much for privacy! Ladder in the bow crew quarters looks like it could take a leg off! Beautiful yacht configuration though! They have a long road ahead for sufficient cruising time. Thanks Nick for the great tour, interesting!
Something that is always missed out in boat reviews is security. How secure are these boats? Can they be locked up and isolated to prevent thief of the boat or equipment. This is very relevant as they are all left moored in public places. Could this be added to your reviews? Many thanks.
Lovely boat and I think the electric motors are something more builders should look at. Running generators to provide the power seems to be a viable solution. Given the amount of cabin space I think I would sacrifice some space for better crew space as that front cabin looked like a workplace lawsuit in waiting!
Maybe it`s just me but there seems to be a wrong cut at 7:38. There is suddenly a little shot about battery banks and then the tour continues. But we are never shown the battery banks or where they are locatet in the boat.
Did I miss it, or is there no door on that separate fifth cabin? If someone in there is a heavy snorer (i.e. me!), they're going to keep everyone else awake! Also, what's with the full length glass side to the showers? I'm guessing this owner spec comes under "voyeur"! 😂
A hybrid drive by the sound of it. As battery tech improves, it would be reassuring to know that the originals could be removed and replaced by the latest solid-state power packs.
How much cost for diesel does the solar offset on this size of boat? It seems such a practical application for these emerging technologies. As solar improves, the amount of power produced will only go up. Thanks for the tour Nick!
great review - been waiting for more reviews on these yachts - I'd so love to have one and take it around the world (slowly). So many beautiful beaches and diving (while the reefs last). Donate for a Dream
Great tour but Ive always found the idea of a completely clear shower partition that if you’re in the shower you can be seen through most of the cabin yet there is a door that completely closes to the head. Why bother at that point? Very odd idea that I would think most clients wouldn’t go for.

Notice how gingerly Nick stepped down into the 'crew cabin'. That's an accident waiting to happen in a seaway. Poor crew.
Crew are running the boat in a 'seaway', not hiding in their cabin. 🙂
Would LOVE to see a descent conversion of an older vessel to electric. If you get chance!
AMAZING!!
Because they are under the saloon floor. The batteries.
Great charter potential
Nice yacht Nick. Only down-side is, you don't need to suffer from claustrophobia in that "crew" cabin. That wouldn't do for me lol.
Good Video!
What is the lifespan of the batteries and how much does it cost to replace them?
It's a beautiful boat, but wow that's a LOT of boat!
Did I miss it, or is there no door on that separate fifth cabin? If someone in there is a heavy snorer (i.e. me!), they're going to keep everyone else awake!
Also, what's with the full length glass side to the showers? I'm guessing this owner spec comes under "voyeur"! 😂
There's a sliding door at the top of the stairs.
@AQUAHOLIC see, told you I'd missed it! Someone point me towards Specsavers!
A hybrid drive by the sound of it.
As battery tech improves, it would be reassuring to know that the originals could be removed and replaced by the latest solid-state power packs.
Cool. Did I miss the anchor?
Another thing on the list of things I'll never have. Thanks for the update!
You're very welcome! 🙂
How much cost for diesel does the solar offset on this size of boat? It seems such a practical application for these emerging technologies. As solar improves, the amount of power produced will only go up. Thanks for the tour Nick!
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
The drawer's finition !!! 😱
I'll buy it 😊
great review - been waiting for more reviews on these yachts - I'd so love to have one and take it around the world (slowly). So many beautiful beaches and diving (while the reefs last).

Great tour but Ive always found the idea of a completely clear shower partition that if you’re in the shower you can be seen through most of the cabin yet there is a door that completely closes to the head. Why bother at that point? Very odd idea that I would think most clients wouldn’t go for.
