Sean - you are a real breath of fresh air to the Corvair community! Again, I wish I could have been there and had a chance to meet you and see your Corvair. Maybe another time….
Wow! I don't remember seeing so many Corvair convertibles in one spot! Glad you and your wife had a great time with the car there in Helen. God bless you guys.
Sean, glad you made it to Helen back. 😊 Enjoyed the video and all those Vairs! I’m planning to go to my first substantial Vair gathering in September, the Great Plains Corvair Round Up in Wichita, hosted by the Mid Continent Corvair Club. Vair On!
Nice video! Wish I could've made it, but my car isn't not quite there yet! I should be at the Dayton convention in July, though! Glad you enjoyed it and glad you're enjoying the 'Vair community. Corvair owners are some of the nicest classic car owners I've come across.
@@AutoAnatomy I bet you when you really get it dialed you can do better than that! My EFI early turbo gets around 24 at freeway speeds and I believe I can get it to 26 with some more slight tweaks. Subtle things like leaning out the mixture to 18-20:1 AFR when going down hills and running at stoich on flat level ground and going to best power during harder loads can really make a difference. When mine was carbureted, the best I ever remember was something like 21 or 22mpg on the freeway. Most of the time, especially "around town" 16-18 was about the best I could hope for, even without ever going into boost. Now, its more like 24 in around town driving. It takes some pretty wild timing changes to get it to lean out like that and not feel it!!
Hey Sean awesome travel video with the corvair! 😄😊 Question for your 66 thunderbird did the factory ac compressor work? and how can i test to see if it engages? I just want to save myself any unnecessary work. still working on 66 tbird to take out for its first official drive Also I don't get any air coming from main vents just the floor. blower motor works :)
The factory compressor did work but needed o-rings and a new receiver/dryer assembly. After that, it blows nice and cold. Good luck on your first test drive! As for the vent issue, I've got to believe that it's a vacuum issue. Make sure all the 200' of vacuum hoses behind the dash are not rotten.
Hi Sean. Super nice to see that your ignition setup works great! 👍 👍 👍 What was your consumption on the trip? How was the feedback in the community so far?.. The station corvair is a nice product! 👍
It got around 21 MPG (8.9 km/L) at 70-75 MPH (112-120 KPH), which is better than it was. I think it would get close to 26-27 MPG (11.0-11.5 km/L) if I could keep my foot out of the throttle. But it sounds so nice revving up and feels great!
@@AutoAnatomy Hahaha, that's a good one! 👍 👍 👍 👍 If the motor runs so good it's hard not to play with the throttle! 😉👍😜 I know that, had the same on my 1966 6V Beetle after rebuilding and change it to 12V with high voltage coil and Weber Double Carburetor! From 44 HP to about 56 HP is a big change! 👍
Sean, I guess that you might be the guy to ask. OK, I'm in the process of building a model Corvair two door H/T and so far, I'm having trouble researching the bumperettes. Not everyone has them and so far I'm having trouble getting the dimensions of them. are the front and rear the same size? also maybe you know of them or know someone who has them. I want to make them for my model. Also, I love the color of the rag tops and I know that this green was not offered on any other styles. But, I'm gone to paint my car this dark green. Thanks, you're coming along nicely with you car project.
Sean, we've talked about bumperettes and their size. Also I said that my model will be dark green like a convertible. OK, the rag top of the car is a light color while the car body is dark green. I was thinking about painting the model dark green on the bottom and a light color on the top. So, my question to you is did Corvair paint any of their cars two tone? Thanks.
I know the trucks and vans were two times but don’t remember any cars being that way. If you email me at autoanatomy@icloud.com I have someone ready to take measurements for the bumperettes

Thank you, and hope to meet you soon!
Sean, it was great meeting you. Thank you for the awesome shout out! I'll keep you updated on my 65. Thanks again for boosting my confidence.
With all those beautiful (restored) Corvairs at that show, I hope you will continue your work on yours and start the body work and paint soon.
Sooooon

It was so much fun, and we're planning on going to the national convention in Dayton in a few months.
Enjoyed seeing all those cars together. They are just too rare where I live. The LM coupes are still my favourite
It was really fun to see all the different varieties of Corvairs. I like the LM style but would love to get our hands on a van or wagon (or truck!)
Hello Sean. What a great turn out! Lots of convertibles. Looks like lots of interest in your set up. Thanks for posting.

Thanks George, it was a lot of fun and got to meet some wonderful people/friends

Have fun at the Vair roundup!!
Thanks for this video! Was there, but this is something to share with my friends who could not be in Helen...
You are so welcome!

Sounds great!
Nice rides !
They are!
GM needs to bring this car back with the same body style and same motor with new technology ❗️🇺🇸
Agreed
Drooling 😂 , but id would lean towards the van / light truck variant myself with stinger specifics and options 🎉
Agreed, I love the vans/trucks/wagons the most
Were you able to do a gas mileage check? Its amazing how big a change can be made to fuel mileage when EFI is really dialed in nice.
It got around 21 MPG on the interstate at 70-75 MPH. Would be a lot better if I could keep my foot out of the throttle!

It needs more tuning for sure, and could prob get into the upper 20s with not much work

Good morning! I don't have any bumperettes but know someone who does. Let me see if I can get some dimensions for you.
@@AutoAnatomy Thanks Sean. I even talked to the guy who supplies parts to everyone and everything Corvair, he said he didn't know!
@dalemettee1147 Email me at autoanatomy@icloud.com and I’ll get you the details
