    I've only ever dove for lobster during the day, but in my experience I find lobsters in PV to be much harder to grab than in Malibu. They are definitely used to being hunted, and they have a maze of deep caves and cracks to worth with. I never specifically target lobster as I'm usually trying to work on hunting technique, and having a mix of gear definitely lowers your chances of taking a bug. The only legal one I've grabbed as a day with buddies early in October where we grabbed several before figuring out the range of legal size. Now If I grab a bug at all I feel like I won, the legal ones are now too cunning for me. I'll have to try at night with a light, but I think I'd be even more interested in hunting at night for some sizeable rockfish. When I dive without my spear I see big rockfish, when I dive with my spear I see dinosaur bugs. So it goes...

      Yup! 100% mixing your gear makes it even more difficult to grab those bugs. I try not to bring my pole spear or speargun when I go out for lobster now, because it usually gets in the way. I also agree diving at night give you a better chance grabbing a lobster since they tend to venture out of their holes more often. One thing I really like about diving during the day is that you don't have to use your flashlight the whole time and you can better identify reefs and stay on top of them easier. Best of luck, and dive safe!

      When I does this day it was not bad. I would say 10-13ft on avg with cloudy spots sprinkled in there.

    Awesome vid! Was wondering if you've ever dived Christmas Tree cove? Thinking about doing a trip there soon but I'm not familiar with PV at all. Whats your opinion?

      Thanks for the kind words. I have dove Christmas Tree. I am not a huge fan of that spot because from my experience that cove gets really milky more than other nearby spots.

      @@divespeareat oh gotcha, what other spots in PV do you recommend?

      @divespeareat  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@skylerwilliams7537 Some other spots in the area you could try out are:
      1. Flat Rock Point
      2. Blufftop Trail
      3. Drainpipe Trail
      Make sure you have shoes or grippy slippers to walk down the cliffs. If not, you will probably slip more and ruin your booties.
      Dive safe!

      Appreciate the kind words! To get started Spearfishing here are some basics:
      1. Get your Fishing License and add the Saltwater Extension (there is not spearfishing specific license)
      2. Grab your Spearfishing gear (Here is a video did on gear: th-cam.com/video/jXmpFYPmjEE/w-d-xo.html)
      3. Do your research on when you can harvest and where you can harvest
      4. Have fun and dive safe!
