Lilli Bolero , l haven't heard that tune since I was a child in school. I remember singing it , it brought back a memory from year's ago .

You're so right, Thomas, when you say "as you learn another culture, you naturally reflect on your own." It reminds me of Kipling's line, "What do they know of England, who only England know?" What is Britishness? Well, I'd say it's kindness, laughing at ourselves, wet streets, pubs, and cricket. There we are. Question answered!

Thank you so much for giving your thoughts. I do think had I stayed in the UK, I would have likely focused on other countries and cultures more, although at a removed perspective. Then again, one can never know. I agree with all five of your suggestions, and the standardisation of sport (or invention of sports if you prefer) was the topic of Episode 103. I really enjoyed that one.

I love the fact that Britain has a very multigenerational approach when dealing with culture. While it works towards preserving the history and traditions of its people across various regions and local landscapes (as we see in examples such as the revival of folk music), Britain also has a way of making new ventures and exploring diversity, especially as it now becomes a global country.

I became a massive anglophile after my amazing year living in London in 2000. I admire the British for their courtesy, honor, helpfulness, pride in history and culture, and respect for traditions. They have so much to be proud of.

Thank you so much for your kind comment, I'm really glad you enjoyed your time in London so much. There is so much to see there, old and new, and ancient. I've lately had the chance to visit far more than I ever have before, and am very grateful for the opportunity.

@@BritishCulture When my graduate school term ended, I honestly didn't want to return to the states, because I was having so much fun in London! Oh, to be 24 again :). Even though it was the new millennium...it felt like the swinging 60's compared to the dour, bleak vibe of my Syracuse University haunts.
