Could you please explain a bit more about “do you want to order first or do you want to grab a table”? It is a bit hard to understand this particular phase because, in my home country, we are supposed to order food once a table is arranged.

I live in Mid-Missouri, and I say "to be honest" all the time! I also say a few of the other one's as well but not as often. It makes me wonder how often other people here in the midwest say it.

Love phrase videooooo
Watched another video of you about the different accents that are hard to understand. I personally don't have any problem with either one of the accents. I'm Dutch, but i've listened to English from all over the world since i was about 4 years old. This makes it possible for me to understand most English accents as a non-native speaker although i do have to pay attention when it comes to the Geordie and Glasgow accent. Indian-English is also hard to understand as it's use of vowels and general speach is softer and influenced by their native language(Hindi, Tamil, Urdu or other languages). I find the Irish accent a lot harder to understand than the Liverpool accent. I'm influenced by both Brittish(RP), American, Australian and African English. I loved watching Keeping up appearances and use a similar exaggerated RP accent, but i do switch from Brittish to American words and spelling when it comes to words as words becomes more regularly in appearances. I'm keen on languages and have been able to understand even Old English and read Beowulf while understanding it. Basically i love languages! ;)

I am in Canada and a lot of these phrases are used with no British English context. Only like 2 or 3 of the examples are not used in Canada.

7:21 Faff can also mean procrastinating or doing something that doesn’t really matter. “Instead of doing some work I just faffed about for a bit”

Compliments for your frisky lessons! I feel that modern British English takes more and more after the America's East coast way to speak : sort of an "Atlantic English"
I don't know about other parts of the UK but where I'm from, we barely ever say "definitely". We say "deffo" instead. So much easier to pronounce. 😁

Is the UK really big, though? The thing I find odd is that it's not a particularly big country, geographically, yet the accents are so defined and there are so many of them. People in New Jersey don't sound much different than we do in New York, but in the UK the same geographic distance can include radically different accents. I feel like there's a lot more distance between accents here. When people do an "American accent," they'll do a Texas twang, a California surfer dude or California valley girl, or a New York accent. But there's a good 1,600 miles between Houston and New York, whereas you travel 1,600 miles from London and you're in Bulgaria, Moldova or Ukraine.
Maybe this is because the UK is an old country and the regional identities are a lot more defined, but that can only account for so much.

Di you think english is a reál language??? Its only a lot of idioms and phrases.
As Native Hungárian we are unable to learn english at all As a language.
But if we forget our language, and using idioms and phrases, we speak fluently.
