Hail Samurai!
Yay!
"Unfortunately, all my friends have normal balls" - Samuraiguitarist 2021
Lol
That's so funny
i was waiting for someone to bring this up
Good old fashion ball jam.
Ahhh yes, I recall the ball jams of my youth. Wild, they were.
@@bikershark9 my brain heard your comment in Pop's voice from the regular show. 🤣
imagine going to a gig and the drummer is just air drumming
The people tripping would flip! 😂
Still better than someone just pressing "play"
That's a Rowan Atkinson gig, man…
Would be funny, but I've heard this can work terribly in uncontrolled lighting environments.
I really feel like the piano gloves are related to the eye drums that you've been working the same way imagine a cheap midi toy controller peripheral gimmick gadget band
Playing tennis with the Oddball would sound like a Phil Collins concert
😂😂😂
I can see it on the court tonight… oh lord… dun dun, dun dun, dun dun, DA DA DA…
This guy needs more likes because it's 100% accurate 😂
Hahahah 🤣🤣🤣
What lol haha
For those who may not know- that comb was pretty spot on in playing the intro to Good Mythical Morning
Wasn’t rlly long enough lmao
That’s what she said! …wait…. :(
It was short but I was like “yeah that’s it”
@@magnusquercu9905 Yes! Lmao. That's what I do too 🤣 People don't always get it... sometimes they think I'm saying it non-ironically 🙄
@@meddle333 😁👍
Ah yes, Irony, like Goldy and Bronzey! A cunning word!
"Unfortunately all my friends have normal balls" said the Chernobyl explorer to his doctor
Lol
If the virtual drumkit could be synchronized with a Daw’s virtual instruments or triggers, it could be an amazing home studio tool. It would allow people to make more realistic sounding drums without needing to have a drumkit at home (i live in a loft, it would be impossible for me to have a drumkit here; so something like this would be amazing).
i remember reading that it can trigger midi, so you can hook it up with some vst
It can, but if you want to make more than backing tracks, it's going to be difficult. A lot of drumming techniques depend on the natural bounce of the sticks, which wouldn't happen if you're drumming on air..
@@lzbgenna well, I don’t know the device enough or if it or the vst would be sensitive enough for it, but to do stuff like that that requires the natural bounce, you could hit the sticks into a flat wooden surface to simulate those effects of hitting an actual snare.
@@lzbgenna i think it's moreso for laying down the initial groove in a more natural way than dragging/dropping in your DAW. for more intricate stuff like ghost notes or whatever, yeah you'll probably still need to do that manually. but it definitely still has a benefit for getting the basic stuff down.
Also pretty expensive to get into, but there's a VR drumset I use called Paradiddle that's awesome for the same reasons, nice too because you can actually see it.
The palm synth and aero drums look like an absolute blast lol
Yeah I kinda want to buy both. Looks like the Aero Drums is out of stock right now though. :(
At this point after seeing how well they work, probably won’t be for a while lol
Aerodrums is amazing and I highly recommend it.
i have the palm synth and its quite great!
I was expecting really bad drum samples for the air drums gadget, and how my expectations were blown. I used to have toy drums as a kid similar to the air drum gadget but the samples were terrible with no variance in tone when playing. The kick drums were a really neat addition too, I'm genuinely impressed.
It can function as a midi controller, so the samples aren't really important, just needs to trigger correctly. But yeah, if those are the built in set, they're better than most electronic kits even at 2x or 3x the price. (Probably because it runs a computer instead of the 16 bit garbage microcontrollers they seem to put in drum modules.)
@@danieljensen2626 I appreciate the info, not much of a drummer but I'm always on the lookout for new instruments.
It is an excellent product. i promise if you look into it you will be impressed.
you can now play along with the entire Celine Dion catalog
You have no idea how much joy this series invokes in me.
Good rosin does indeed have a smell, cheap stuff is usually filled with cheaper additives like plastic and wax to lower cost but makes it smell like… well nothing.
Cheap rosin is less likely to make a mess in your luggage if you're flying
I used the play violin when I was a kid. My rosin smelt wonderful. Like cedar I think.
@@NedJeffery that is a pretty good description. I haven't played for almost 30 years, but remember the rosin smell and texture
Yes, rosin is supposed to smell piney.

I am thoroughly impressed with the aerodrums. I was waiting for the “gotcha” moment and you saying it was just air drumming in synch with music and that they sucked. Im glad they work well.
Also the ball gadget looks like a lot of fun
Imagine wearing the piano gloves while holding the oddball on one hand and the aerodrum on the other... Triple gimmicky music! Make it happen!!
Those air drums could be game changing! I could imagine an EDM group using this live to trigger beats/samples. Or even just for a bedroom guitarist/writer to rough out some drum idea's for a song.
They are excellent. I highly recommend it.
I bought Aerodrums back when it came out, I wouldn't really call it a gimmick, I've used it a lot and even recorded drums with it for one track. It's surprisingly solid, it doesn't feel fair to include alongside the other actual gimmicks. I also think there's something to be said for the Orba, we sometimes whip it out at a picnic or whatever and have a bit of fun.
I think in VR it’s a lot better because better position tracking, but not everyone has VR
1:51 That's the most Canadian thing I've ever seen. XD
My buddy Digital Sensei on twitch actually used those Aero drums to complete a Dark Souls run, mapping the drum hits to controller inputs. Surprisingly responsive.
that comb really worked lol i could tell it was the GMM theme and i got so excited.
That comb is actually incredible. I had no expectations going in at all, but GOOD GRAVY if that price isn't enormous!
Is the webcam included with Aerodrums now? I've had these in my wishlist for a number of years now but when I first heard about them you had to buy some PS4 motion camera of some sort to get it to work as it wasn't included. If they've changed that, that might make it more attractive as I'd quite like an electronic drum kit but my space is very small so this would be the best compromise to playing and recording drums without just using the drum setting on my keyboards...
He says it kind of quickly, but he did say "You setup the included webcam, which also has a light." It seems, yes, the webcam is included.
10:23 “included webcam that also has a light”.
It would make sense it comes with one since it’s a main component. Without it, there’s no gratuitous air drum solos
@@raxxer1234 ps3 eye**
Everything is included and I highly recommend it.
That’s fantastic! The air drums were a ‘smash’ !
They "beat" the other gadgets . "Peddling" gadgets with "Snares" like the gloves isn't cool! Just trying to take you for a 'Ride'!
@@stanphillips7277 this audience is full of punny dads!! Good one.
@@backlom thanks for the compliment but I think your pun "beats" mine , but I'll "stick" with it and improve "in time"😂
Highly recommended if you are interested you check them out.
if you've got a vr headset, you can pair the aerodrums with an app so you can see the drums like in real life
I would actually really like to try one of those Pickaso bows. I love the sound of the violin and I thought that it really did make an acoustic guitar sound like a violin. I was surprised and impressed!
The song you did with The Oddball sounds like something straight out of MGMT's last album
i love the orba. its a great synth to carry around with you and once you get used to the interface it’s really intuitive.
i was noodling on guitar while watching this and played some lead over your acoustic + comb bit and it was a fun jam thanks sammy ♥
For the first time in recorded history I actually have one of the Gimmicky Gidgets that mr. G shows off. I actually have an Orba. If you're one of those guys that just need to fidget with something, an Orba could be nice.
i just love it how he plays everything serious i doesnt matter what instrument it is
5:21 sammy g reveals his true accent
When you said that you used a lot of studio magic with the piano gloves I thought, how horrible are they really? Then you showed us and they were worse than I could have ever imagined.
7:54 could be a cool ambient piece
Sammi G can play drums! Im impressed
The guitar bow & synth touchpad seem to be the most professional of them all. The rest are more like fun little toys. Imo
Thanks to the guitar bow I will finally be able to turn my guitar into a cello/violin & play Farewell by Apocalyptica.
Yeah I thought so too until I went to the pickasobow website and saw that it was $80 before shipping haha
Jesus Christ died for your sins please repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand 🚧⛽️🚈🚈🚥🚆🪝✈️
I want that Picasso bow now.
Also, that Oddball thing was pretty cool. I love that jam.
“Unfortunately all my friends have normal balls”
Hey Sammy G do those AR drums send out MIDI? Those would be awesome i could replace the drum sounds with other samples, or even to be able to play them directly in a DAW
You can.
Just the image of the "Samurai Guitarist" (with man bun) wielding a hockey stick with some competence made this video well worth the watch ... thanks ...
The air drums actually sounded surprisingly good, ngl
Check out their nice website. The samples are very high quality.
I always wondered if the aerodrum will be able to pick up double strokes or paradiddles. It just seems like some novelty past time gadget than one many drummers will genuinely use
I had the opportunity to test out an orba- definitely a learning curve, but seems like a really cool gadget to play with on a plane / commuting to work. Idk if I would use it in live / studio performances but
Thank you for doing more of these! Sorry we keep asking for more of these!
i love this series, keep em coming sammy g
I am loving your videos man. Your screen presence is excellent, you’re wonderfully eloquent and I really enjoy the subtle humour. And all Topped off with fantastic playing. One of the best channels I’ve found in all my years on TH-cam. Looking forward to loads more
Jesus Christ died for your sins please repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand 🚧⛽️🚈🚈🚥🚆🪝✈️
Fun fact: If you get rosin in your eyes, that's a painful trip to the emergency room.
The series I needed to return
Loved the Picasso violin gadget! Thx for the vid
As a dev with experience with vr devekopment, that's some impressive tracking for a single camera. I legit thought the first demo was a goof that you edited. Kudos to the devs.
ha "im not a dummer" proceeds to kill it flawlessly, great video mate. im hooked on this series now, thought i was the only one that loved obscure musical things.
i love that air drum. it sounds better than sequenced simply because it has a more human feel.
Love these videos. Any of the ones you piece together a track. Amazing. Keep it up!!! Very inspiring. Music is life.
MGMT been real quiet since 2:25
Cool! Put a piece of paper on one side of the comb, hold it to your lips and hum. With just a little practice You’ll be surprised at the groovy sound that comes out. It makes any note in any key you can vocalize. If you know the guitar part to No Time Left For You by The Guess Who, it sounds a lot like that. One of my favorite “jams” to play on a comb when I was a kid.
Edit: I didn’t have a lot of friends.
Definitely the best and coolest episode in the gimmick gadget series!!! Loved it great work!!!
I've had the Orba since it launched, I'm impressed with what you've come up with on it
I have an Orba (backed it early on Kickstarter). I think it's great, though admittedly, I don't use it often enough.
I'm very interested in that ball and the air drum setup, even if just for some fun with the grandkids. They look great.
You should make a band or a song using ALL of your guitar gadgets that you've collected over the years
I literally just re-watched all your gimmicky guitar gadgets videos not 2 hours ago. Then this popped up and I was like HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE. Then I saw the upload time 🤣
that's the best "turn your guitar into a violin" weird gadget I've ever heard in this series, it would actually be fun for a quirky song
Finally, with the Aerodrums i can be the best air drummer
we really need a jam that features the oddball, the orba and the aerodrums
The drum sticks reminds me of something that came out in the late 80s-early 90s. A pair of sticks connected to a speaker.
I was totally expecting the pickaso to sound terrible but that sounded amazing!
that air drum looks really cool....
The bow has a cheap alternative! DavidLap has videos about using just a pen and he gets a great sound with it. You basically just need something for the rosin to stick to.
th-cam.com/video/y0PvQdYHadY/w-d-xo.html here's a link, he's got other similar videos too though!
I just testet it. Sounded not as good as the playing of DavidLap, but it worked. Maybe i have to find the right pen or work on my technique :-)
I'm digging that little synth jam.
the drums are super cool!
Love your videos been watching for a long time now but forgot that your channel existed over the summer. Just re discovered it thanks for getting rid of my boredom 🙂
The orba is just octavia’s mandachord from warframe, you can’t fool me
Ma boi
I love the weird gimmick reviews, very entertaining
That GMM comb shipping price is probably because you're a gosh darn Canadian! ❤️
Dude ... please please please do more of the "Angry mob" impression. That shizznit was hilarious.
That's was a killer 60s/70s rock piece. I'd actually be down to hear a full length version of that.
I love the energy you put in your videos
I use the aero drums for my own songs as a kind of more intuitive midi controller for my drums. My room is fairly small and I don’t have room for a actual drum kit. In my eyes, they’re a valid piece of studio kit and could actually be very good for tours or musicians like me.
Damn thats some good stuff today.. especially the bow sounded very good.. Pen does the trick but this was on a whole other level..
Oh my gosh the part at 1:50 literally made me laugh out loud! 😂
'I am not a drummer's
Kills it on the drums...good job Sammy
As someone who owns an Aerodrums kit, it's really great to see another review. They are exactly what they say they are, they can be triggered by any drum software, they have excellent dynamics and musicality and the many included samples are extremely high quality. Add to that the people that own the company seem incredibly cool and they have great customer service. I recommend them all the time.
The only real issue I have is you have to play them in a non-reflective area. The camera tracks the reflectors and if you have anything behind you that is two bright the software will get confused.
With that said, I still highly recommend the product. Hope this helps!
The aerodrums also has a VR app for the oculus quest 2 so you can see all the drums around you as your playing them
Love that he inadvertently did a theme and variation on the GMM into theme
Hahahaha love the oddball thing You done did right there😆
YESSSSS!!!! I love this series
Have you ever tried a Korg Kaoscillator? It's a wacky little device with a recorder and looper in it. You can select the MIDI patch for the track you want to lay down, then play the sounds by tapping, touching, or sliding you finger on the touch pad on the front.
I guess they have an app that does the same thing in a smartphone, but I got the hardware version back when flip phones were a thing.
Also, I love my Roland AE-01 Mini Aerophone. It's a MIDI wind controller, but it'll also play standalone with 6 different patches, and a bunch more when paired to a phone or tablet with their app in it. But you can connect it to a DAW and use it for MIDI input. A little limited when compared to the AE-10 or the AE-30, but for a first wind controller, it's pretty sweet.
enjoyed this you work hard brother I appreciate it
I really like how you approach all of them with the same level of effort
This is hilarious!!..thankz!! Made my day*
I love Good Mythical Morning. Never bought any of their merch, but it's always pretty cool.
The Theme played by the comb is for their show "Good Mythical Morning"
the post processing on that comb is next level
The orba palm synth is fun to play around on. I've had on for a while now.
You played the MMC right the first time!
And I've been wanting an Orba since I first saw the add.
Now I want it even more!
Those piano gloves might be fun to circuit bend.
"It doesn't really do anything that a normal MIDI controller couldn't do, except you can throw it against the wall."
Good sir, I will show you what my pent up frustration when trying to be creative can do to contradict that statement.
That pickaso bow is one of the few things you've shown off I might look into.
The mythical comb actually played their theme WAY better than I assumed it could
Nice, a lot of these look pretty good
love your videos dude you deff find some cool things
Him: keep in mind I am not a drummer
Also him doing a perfect drumming:
That drum one is AMAZING
To be clear, the pitch on the comb is due to the length of each tooth, not how many teeth there are
