      The original Gizmotron was invented in the mid 1970s by Kevin Godley & Lol Creme, ex 10CC members, and directors of many of the first music videos. It was launched to great fanfare but was never a success then and probably won't be this time round either. An E-bow is a better alternative (see Samurai Guitarist's first guitar gadgets video).

      danielffnando I have one, and it’s actually really useful. It helps with internalizing the beat, since you’re feeling it. Pairing the pulse with the app lets it be used to the full potential. The only issue is that it’s hard feeling the vibrations on certain parts of the body.

    • @littlefishbigmountain
      @littlefishbigmountain 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, people can feel the beat that the bass is laying down inside of them by standing next to the subwoofer at a show. I don't see how it's much different than that. Nothing unnatural there

    I bought the DR Black Beauties just for laughs and so far they're still strong after a couple of months compared to the Ernie Ball Super Slinky (my all time favorites). I have to add that I clean them every time I start and finish playing, but that particular guitar always stays home outside of the gig bag and there's a lot of dust and dog hair even though the house is cleaned daily (lately getting worse with pollen). Still I think it's time to change them but I really want to see how far I can push them before they start sounding like crap.
    Tonewise: Meh. They're strings. Sound like strings. Little bit muddy (noticeable when fresh, after a week they almost sound like every other set).
    Durabilty wise: Really impressed. Clean them often and they'll last more than what you'd expect

    Entertaining vid. If you are doing a part 3 gadgets you could also include the Aspri acoustic reverb which clips on acoustic and classical guitars and the tonewood guitar amp which attaches to the back of an acoustic guitar and creates sound effects through the body of the guitar.

    The violin thingy was a lot better-sounding than I thought it would be. It does sound like a violin (or a cello, at least). I thought it would just be a mechanical ebow, but it sounds completely different. Practical use, however? Not much. For playing live that means you need two guitars so you can switch to your unadulterated one, which is a pain, and for studio sessions, why not just use a string sample on the synthesiser? For $300 too you could just buy a MIDI guitar (I don't own one, but I quite like the idea of them!) and can then easily switch between various instrument samples as well as a standard electric guitar, with far less hassle. Asides from Sigur Ros I can't see why anyone would buy a (loud) twirling violin thingy device.

    I’ve had those green strings before, the green wears off quickly as it’s just painted on and they rust easier than any other strings I’ve used.

    Bought some of those string back in the day put a pink set on a bc rich Kerry king signature model they’re pretty decent at first but the color coating wears off the high strings so you always have colored dust on your guitars and you’ll have notches in the strings if you de tune your guitar

    If using that metronome in a band situation, then it will be far more fun if you don't sync them up :D
