They are really good controllers, I do hope this is just a bad batch issue. A commenter earlier mentioned Power A was good at replacing when the problem happened. BTW which colours did you order?
@@thephototechy I ordered green and midnight blue because these colors were on sale. The colors don't really matter actually to my brother. What really matters is the lifespan of the controllers :)
@@najvisiusobi yeah same here TBH. I don’t know why this is happening, I have so many controllers without any issues and I’m not particularly kind to them whilst using. I still have an Xbox one day one controller and still works fine. I do hope the stick issues with controllers gets sorted. It’s just not feasible manufacturing these controllers with all the packaging and they are going in the bin. I’d rather spend more if the parts are modular and replaceable. Sony seems to have taken up the idea of replaceable thumbsticks, let’s see what their controller turns out to be.
I've had the Power A Advantage Lumectra RGB about 8 months and came to this video because it developed the "gittery" right stick issue you described out of no where. It started in certain games when I would open my maps it would be all over the place to the point I just couldn't use maps in certain games. After watching the video I think PDP deserves a try.
You did a super good job on this with the fps games and in depth review. I watched for pdp. I own a power a and I don't like it because the sticks have strong tension and a sharp response curve.
Thanks man! I have to say if the power A didn’t develop the issue I had, I’d still recommend it, but PDP is doing a great job with the aiming sticks. I’m about to publish my full review of the victrix gambit which is also by PDP, and same thing on that one as well, it’s not just the built in deadzones it’s the response curve which feels very connected to me. I do love using precision rings on PDP and without them putting a tall Kontrolfreek might feel a bit loose. I’m very excited about their BFG PS5 controller, I might actually get a PS5 just for that 😂
You should get a PC and then you have it for the office and the Xbox in the living room that's what I do. The dead zones and response curve make or break the controller I can't get my elite 2 to be competitive because of the dead zones I think so if I like the rematch maybe I'll get the gambit.
@@sevn8757 Ah man that’d be amazing. I have a few laptops but they are for my photography and video clients. They only have a 1650 in them, so I’ve never been able to play games above low quality. Originally I wanted to build a gaming PC but with Covid happening and me changing work everything just went off the rails. Now though I was checking some pre built PC from scan here in UK and they do look very tempting.
Building a PC really isn't the money saver that it used to be I built my old one this time I bought a pre built with a 3060 for 1000 dollars on sale. It's comparable to the Xbox but at 1080P pretty much everything runs at 120fps or close to it
@@sevn8757 I have to say I was checking the series X COD MW2 in 1440p at 60fps and then switched to 1080 120 and the 120 definitely looked worse but feels very smooth. There’s definitely some sacrifices made with Series X when we switch to 120fps, mainly draw distance and edges getting a bit zagged for me. Having a PC with true high settings at 1080 120fps would be amazing.
bought a pdp on accident when i was shopping online for the official microsoft xbox controller, lasted me 3 years. 2 years light use, 1 year abused and it just drifted lol. edit: keep in mind, i never played any shooting games with a controller, just racing games and adventure games. also on the year it drifted, i heavily pressed on the analogs for hours on end each day for a whole year because i was using it for drifting games. also great review 👍
That’s actually not bad, if I get eight months of use from Power A for the price it’s at, I’d be happy. Unfortunately for me it was more like 6 weeks. The feel of their controllers with the back button design is soooo good. I still want to buy the infinity spectra to try the trigger stops.

I didn’t mention it in this video but PDP rematch is the cheapest Xbox controller that can be over clocked to 500hz on PC, something way more pricey controllers can’t do. I really do love the aim response of the PDP stuff, it’s a little different to PowerA. Please remember PDP has built in deadzones so make sure in game deadzones are set to zero, otherwise it’ll feel very sluggish. May you dominate many lobbies to come 😂 thanks for the support bro.
@@KasperK-nj5lq The Hori controller costs almost twice as much here in Australia. Seeing as the majority of my gaming is done with keyboard and mouse I can't justify the expense. Cheers for the recommendation though, I've a handful of friends who would be very interested in the Hori controller
@@KasperK-nj5lq hey so I opened the cheaper controllers (recon,rematch&enhanced) and found them to be using the same favorunion thumbsticks. I actually opened the potentiometer housing on my rematch just to see inside and closed it, that actually made the sticks behave strangely, but I was able to do a recalibration from PDP software and that brought the sticks back to near perfect performance. You see the cheaper sticks from favorunion are rated for 1m rotations and only 100k presses. So any controller be it turtle beach, PowerA or PDP using them can have issues very quickly. Now that you’ve mentioned Hori, that has me intrigued on what type of stick it might be using. Appreciate the info bro!
My PowerA xbox one controller just broke (left pad drifting like crazy plus bumpers and triggers were also falling appart, B button from playing too much souls games also kinda broke) i guess i will pick PDP this time even tho it's a little more expensive since i see PowerA still haven't fixed those issue from seeing your video and reading to the comments.
Hey so I opened both of these and found them to be using the same thumbstick modules and tact switches for bumpers also same potentiometer based triggers. PDP has the advantage of software support and built in deadzones with calibration support. With your PowerA I’d suggest try a calibration first and see if the stick issue fixes it. I have a video on fusion pro 3 calibration on my channel and that’ll work with enhanced and other PowerA controllers as well. Hope this helps.
I just got the pdp today to have a working controller, but I’ll always rep the fusion pro controller!! Got the 1sr and 2nd gen. PowerA makes the fusion pro I believe. Watching this felt i made the right decision on the pdp. A good controller to just have in general.
So I opened both of them and these are so close with internals it’s insane, sticks are same modules, triggers are potentiometer based on both. Only thing in favor of PDP is the software and built in deadzone with a custom response on sticks. Also for some reason rematch and gambit are the only licensed Xbox controllers I’ve tested that can be overclocked to 500hz.
I've recent had a PowerA spectra infinity give up on me after a year of use, but I also bought it pre owned. I had a similar stick issue, but mine was resolved with the companion app on the xbox store and a simple recalibration through that app too.
Bro thank you sooo much for this comment, I didn’t even know about the app. I managed to do the recalibration and the jitter did get fixed,but the problem of aim going up is still there.I’ve tried different deadzone settings and still the issue persist. Still having this app is definitely a big plus for power A. I think I’ll be getting the spectra infinity now just to try those trigger stops. Really appreciate the info bro!

Ran through two of the power a first one took a month so I thought it was just my luck so I got another power a and this one only lasted 3 days before the d pad stopped working
As someone who has had the power A enhanced controller multiple times I can tell you that the controller is great, you see I play a lot of Raimbow Six siege and need a good controller with paddles for a cheap price and I have really enjoyed playing with it as the paddles feel great the triggers feel good however it is a very short-lived controller… I do take care of my controller and do not rage and smash or damage it in any way however I had had three in the space of around 6 months. The first lasted me around 3 months. The second one around 1 month and a half and now my most recent one which broke 2 days ago for just 2 weeks…
Hey I do love Power A controller feel. I just got the fusion pro 3 and man it feels so good. Have to say the sticks are feeling a bit different on fusion pro 3. I’m really putting a lot of time on it atm, hoping it’ll have better longevity. If the fusion pro 3 turns out to be better, than every other Xbox controller maker will have a problem on their hands. My elite series 2 developed faults with real minimal use, only my PDP rematch, victrix gambit and Razer wolverine have shown durability.
Adjusting the dead zones on the analog sticks and triggers are the sole reason I will only buy the PDP. Plus every time I get when it comes with 30 free days of game pass ultimate. I've had Power a and I have nothing wrong with them but they don't have the app to adjust dead zones and stuff. Power a is pretty good though
A+ review thank you for posting this educational video I needed this review yo like I was using power a power a power a forever scared to invest in a 250 dollar controller buying warranty now I brought a pdp i felt like it was the worst controller put dead zone to 0 and now it’s good and after watching you’re review im going to stick with the pdp and hope it does me justice i don’t want to constantly go back and buy power a anymore if this is the better one I’ll try and come back to reply
Ah man that'd be amazing, I'm interested to see how PDP products do with customers. I'm very interested in the BFG pro for PS5, so far I do think that PDP are making reliable controllers , just the feel is a bit cheap, but I'd rather have a cheap feeling but longer lasting rather than nice feeling and unriable product.

@@HighTopJopI liked both imma tell you some pros and cons ( my hands are big so may be different problems) rq PDP had better better feeling paddles but mine kept breaking literally crack and be unplayable , Joystick never drifted for me nice feeling controller closer to a regular Xbox series s/x controller (weight wise) , Power A I felt personally had more grip nice feel paddles were small but it never not once for me cracked or broke the joystick tho did drift after long wear and tear buttons felt nice as well. There both good options I play Fortnite mainly and edit with left stick so constantly applying pressure to left stick causing more wear and tear the paddles tho power a just for longevity was better for me. Last review to me if power a had a better joystick I would pick it over all the time , i would buy both there both reasonable priced and test both out I seen a more upgraded version of power a and I remember photo techs said they upgraded there joysticks cost more but I may go to it now I didn’t use control freaks or anything pdp is more closer built to regular Xbox controller than power a I remember it did take me a day or 2 to get used to the feel but not a big deal at all

Pdp rematch has BROKEN mic monitoring issues on Windows 10. I have tested this with multiple computers and multiple xboxes, as well as other PDP controllers like the afterglow. Specifically the rematch has a mic monitoring bug for PC where mic monitoring is tied to mic volume, so if you disable mic monitoring nobody can hear you. On top of all of this the controller will not remember PDP control hub settings from any PC but will remember settings from an Xbox.
on the pdp controller how do you change the dead zone to zero, BTW i have had 3 power A controllers & all of them got bad stick drift in less than one month, My old pdp pad i lost the back plate that controls the 2 back buttons & i threw the pad very hard its all cracked it has had coffee on it one screw holding it all together & everything still works great for over 2 years no stick drift no anything, My Turtle Beach React-R Controller that i used for three weeks got Horrendous stick drift & the right trigger stopped working & i looked after that pad, So am going to buy a PDP Rematch, And i wanted to know about changing the dead zone to zero as mentioned in your Vid BTW a great vid you got a new Subscriber👍
Hey so I've opened the rematch, enhanced and turtle beach recon and all of them are using identical internals. I think PDP has the edge because of built in deadzones and their custom response curve. The sticks they ar eusing are the cheaper models in the favorunion line up, and only rated for half the life of an alps or their own higher model. The PDP control hub allows us to change the deadzone numbers but mine was set to zero out of box any way, still at that zero setting they have some deadzones applied, as evident by the perfect centre position. I honestly think everyone has to stop using the cheaper modules and start using favorunion's higher quality module, the ones in Victrix Gambit. The story about yor PDP controller is amazing, after so much its still going strong. One thing I's suggest about PowerA, is to open the controller and reset the poteniometer. PowerA controllers are the easiest to open and resetting the potentiometer solved my issue. But it's up to the individual if they want to open their controllers.

On my Power A control my LT button would press the RT button at the same time. So when I'm playing cod zombies it would shoot immediately as i would aim and would be extremely annoying. Especially if I'm trying to go for headshots it would shoot immediately as i press the LT button
Hey the normal Xbox one and series Kontrolfreek works, they are just a bit tight and leave marks. The PS4/PS5 are a bit loose but works well as they don’t come off whilst gaming, also they don’t leave any marks on the stick. I like using the galaxies, specially the high rise on the right aiming stick.
im gonna be honest, the xbox one version of the powera enhanced controllers are signifigantly better than the series s/x ones. with the xb1 version i never had any issues with stick drift, but the xss/x sticks gave out recently after using it for a few months which stinks.
Bro now i'm gonna have to get one of the old ones. I saw they even made the spectra infinity for XB1 with trigger stops. I wonder if Alps couldn't provide Power A with the higher lifecyle modules due to supply issues. I read there are 2 types of modules, one with 1 million actuations and 100k presses,another with 2 million actuations and 500k presses. EIther way the enhanced is such a good feeling controller, but all the comments I've recieved about reliability issues means it's not just my unit.
Do not buy the SPECTRA infinity either, I’ve went through 3 of them and my 4th is in my closet in the box after the right trigger just broke off inside, the actual mechanism broke, as well as the trigger stops are fragile and that’s why the other 3 broke and I refunded them all hoping the next one would last, but they all break within 1 month of use… stay far away from POWER A
Ah man that doesn't sound good, I was hoping the spectra infinity would be better as its a bit more pricey. There is no controller with trigger stops at the low end, Hyperx have just announced one but I can't find any pictures or info on it yet. Really appreciate your input bro!
As someone who plays heavily shooters, this is my opinion. I've gone thru 2 scuff reflex with tac switches. 300$+ each within a year. One evil controller. 200$+. Switched to Xbox controllers. Although it's a bit more than 30$ at 39.99 sometimes on sale for 30$ tho, the powerA advantage has usb c and trigger locks. Plus back buttons remap. Absolutely phenomenal so far. Performs way better and has taken a beating so far. If it breaks within 6 months no problem😂 I'll throw 30-40 at them twice a year. Most of the switches inside the meter go bad on most remotes with heavy play in 6 months no matter the price point. I'm talking 100+ hrs a month anyway on the controller. If you're somewhat technical and don't mind working on a remote you love, it's reasonably simple to replace the sensors inside the joysticks. U can get a dozen or 6 sets for 8$
I tried both controllers ended up returning the Power A. I liked the PDP better for a few reasons, its USB C, and for me I like to map the "view" & "menu" buttons to the extra paddle buttons on the back. The power A controller wouldn't allow me to map those buttons, which is ultimately why I returned it. The PDP does allow for such mapping. Its a useful mapping strategy for RPG's where you are constantly dipping into menus/inventories. At least it is imho.
Yeah my experience with that model of the PowerA controller is the same. I've had two and the sticks just give out within 1 month. Arguably the worst analog sticks I've ever used
@@thephototechy Yeah the second one was the replacement and that one had issues within 2 weeks. I had no problems getting the replacement though so their customer service is good but the product isn't 😅.

@@thephototechy Agreed, I hope it's just a bad batch cuz the rest of the controller is good. You might want to look into reviewing the Nacon Revolution X Pro. I've owned it for 5 months and there is no sign of any stick drift even though I have the deadzones set to 0 in game and in the controller app. And this is with HEAVY use.

@@zikopro7369 ah bro I’d say check other controllers as pc will have way better options compared to these 2. But if you need to decide between the PDP and PowerA for PC, then PDP would win as you can overclock it to atleast 500hz and get better performance, PowerA are locked at 250hz. If you do look at other options like Flydigi, bigbigwon etc, you might be able to get a lot for your money and not having the Xbox license won’t affect you negatively either.

good review i been using power a the last 3 controllers after 4 months i get stiff analog stick witch makes it slow to move the character i did try cleaning whit air spray but no luck so am going try pdp one this month
4 months is definitely not enough, I understand that the sticks are designed in a way that they'd fail. I still can't get my head around how my elite series 1 lasted me over 6 years. Don't know if the products are becoming lesser quality or the games we are playing are more demanding on the inputs. In my case its always been COD, Battlefield and Battlefront.
@@thephototechy well demanding part for me on my controllers would say its same or maybe as a first person shooter it does requires quick reflex and study of patterns for no boss damage videos to make maybe should save for elite controller then
@@DavidLink05 the benefit of the elite is definitely the premium feel, 4 back buttons and Microsoft complete, which is a 3 year cover against faults and accidental damage. When I play with cheaper controllers the only thing I miss if the elite is 4 back buttons and the hair triggers. It’s just the elite is so expensive.
Power a spectra controller lasts about a month with heavy use. If power A can improve the thumbsticks then I would use all the time. After going through 2 spectra controllers and the right stick gets insane drift and squeaks. Sucks because it's a great feeling controller
I know, the ergonomics and the back button design is superb. If only the reliability can be improved, this would be unbeatable. I think PDP are using the same thumbstick modules,but they have done the tuning very differently, which in my opinion is giving PDP an upper hand. If Power A could implement the PDP thumbstick tuning,and PDP could somehow implement trigger stops,then these would be much better buys than the much more expensive pro controllers.
@@Mcflrp I actually wanted to add the recon in this vid, but the price point is so different from these. The Recon goes for £50 here whilst these are £30. It’d be a good comparison though, I do really like the recon and it was the first controller I bought after my series 1 had issues.
Surprisingly, I bought a cheap Chinese "no name" wireless controller for my son's Nintendo Switch it is going 6 months now and fine, no drifting. We had Power A before and after 2 months, pure drifting. My character in Mortal Kombat 11 jumping without me pressing and directional button.
I've had both and PowerA seems better IMO. PDP was okay, but the sticks aren't very comfortable due to their texture. I also didn't like the sharp grips. Both these things made the controller feel bad during longer gaming sessions. PowerA fixed both these issues. Too bad mine got stuck drift quite soon (compared to how long OG controllers last) because I actually like that controller. I would often use it over the OG Xbox controller
Man if the sticks didn’t develop an issue for me, I’d definitely stay with PowerA. My PDP rematch is still going strong to this day, although I do game with a lot of different controllers. Just to let you know I got the PowerA fusion pro 3 and will be making a initial review very soon. First impressions after a day of playing 2042 and MW2 are very positive, loving the new 4 back buttons so far. Plz stay tuned for a full review and comparison with the victrix gambit, thanks.

I've bought about 10 PowerA Controllers over the past 3 years why..? stick drift or that jitter issue..I love powerA but I'm done with the faults. 7months was the longest I've had with no issues.. hence why I was looking at this video..I'm running away from powerA 😔. They've served me well but I need better things.
I have to say their controllers feel amazing, I just wish they could last atleast 12 months. I do wonder why PowerA sticks are having issues and the original controllers from Xbox and PS don't get that frequently, maybe ALPS the sticks manufacturer gives the better quality sticks to Microsoft and Sony for contractual reasons.
I have the power A enhanced controller metallic blue i bought and it works really good. I recently bought a power A controller baby blue that works with xbox one xbox sires s and pc. But for some reason it on the xbox one s it wont vibrate. But on the xbox one it vibrates very low so when playing a shooting games it doesn’t have a kick like the enhanced version. I personally recommend the enhanced version its a solid controller at a very good price its. Good weight to it runs better in my opinion than the original controller its has a good kick when shooting. If you can find one online i recommend checking it out. How does it feel. Is it light in weight as compare to original controller? I’ve older version of pdp and it’s really light in weight don’t like the feel of it. Is it any better?
Ah that’s something I missed in this video. Yes the PDP is very light and I know sometimes that feels cheap. PowerA is a bit heavier but still a bit lighter than standard controller. PowerA spectra infinity I’ve heard has some weight and feels a lot more premium. I myself was used to of the elite series 1 for years, and I thought I need a controller with some weight to stabilise my hands, help with aiming, but I have to say I did get used to the light weight.

Hey Preston, yes I remember that review it came from a very frustrated place. Now I've realized the frustration is with xbox and not Activision. I just don't get the forced crossplay with PC players. I've been playing COD since 360 launch COD2 and it's always been on Xbox, now though I'm getting a PS5. I'll be purchasing the game again as I really love it, but I do need the option to turn the cross play off when I feel like it. I know the way to turn it off through Xbox settings but that only works for the 6v6 and not for ground war and invasion game modes.I myself consider a casual gamer and COD is my most played game.Over the years many of my friends left the Xbox platform specially when PS4 came out, but I stayed and TBH loved the XB1 and now the series X. Combining the forced crossplay and many of my friends playing COD on PS4 and PS5, and telling me how they are able to turn off crossplay and still play ground war,invasion and Warzone as well, is just the push I needed to get my first ever playstation.
For me personally, I’d go for the PDP rematch, just because it’s been more reliable in my case. If for any reason only power A is available, it’s still a very good controller with amazing ergonomics.
Hey thanks a alot. I stopped using power A due to the aiming issue with the right thumbstick, PDP on the other hand is just fine. The back buttons have developed a bit of play on PDP,as I use them alot for cod, but they work every time and haven't lost resistance so still no accidental actuations. In all honesty if Power A can last longer than thats a no brainer as PDP sort of lack in built quality and feel. Still PDP is going strong for me and the Power A lasted me just about 3 months. A lot of people did confirm that Power A is very good with the after sales support, but like I mentioned I don't know what I did with my reciept. If you are playing FPS then aiming is very important and to me it feels better on PDP, just remember to put your in game deadzones to zero as it has built in deadzones. Power A has better triggers and Dpad also same could be said for the ABXY buttons as well, but for me its PDP just because my Power A failed on me.
Hey man, I use my controllers very aggressively, specially playing FPS games. For me the PDP felt good, only thing is it’s a very light controller and feels like using thin plastic. How long the structural rigidity last is anyone’s guess at this point. For the couple of months I’ve had it, it’s been absolutely fine, the face buttons, bumpers, triggers and the sticks all been just like day one. The back buttons did get a little bit play developed on the outer plastic shells they are using, but the function and press is perfect. I’d love to say 2 years would be ok but with my recent experiences with controllers, it feels like everyone is aiming for a controller that last maybe a year only.
@@Warmaster2143 it depends, if there’s a benefit of pressing a face button without taking the thumb off aiming stick, u can use a back button. For instance jump shot or drop shot in fps. For some it’s a big deal and others are fine without them. I personally love the idea, I feel as if I can stay in the action if I don’t have to move the thumb off the aiming stick.
Hey, in my case the PDP seems to be more reliable. But I did open both these controllers and they seem very similar in component. The sticks they are using are the ones that are rated for 100k actuations and 100k press. So these should have a similar life span. The PowerA had better in hand feel, PDP however, has better aiming and response curve for thumbsticks. Also PDP can assign view and select to back buttons, PowerA can’t. Either way both for the price are good controllers.
@@thephototechy Thanks but im going to buy controller to play split screen wrc9 with my brother and One Punch Man they both arent basef on aiming so little aim differences wont really affect the gameplay and i love Power A 's design and colour so probably Power A will suit me more uhh i dont know thats too complicated for people who lives at Turkey like me because they are too expensive 8th gen costs around 80 dollars and Power A costs around 30 dollars Power A is pretty cheap so this will be a better choice even it breaks down i can buy 2nd hand 9th gen and that will solve the issue
@@DanceOfStars PowerA are actually very well built, the material they use is thick and in hand they do feel very very nice. They’ve just released the fusion pro 3 and it’s become my favourite Xbox controller. The design of PowerA controller is for sure amazing.
I can safely say that I love this controller. I play shooter games n the aim on this thing is so good especially in a game like apex, for the price n what u get its great
Hey so both are pretty good and in terms of internals very very similar. One thing the PDP has is the ability to be overclocked on PC to 500hz, bringing the response time to 2ms from 4. PowerA are locked to 250hz so even overclocking them keeps the response time to 4ms. In terms of design and in hand feel, PowerA edges ahead slightly. Also PowerA has just released the advantage line, it’s I believe $5 more but adds trigger stops, so a worthy consideration as well. Hope this helps bro.

I have had the same problem with the power a. Iittle info about the pdp, u can change the audio settings for game chat on the fly in the game by holding the audio function button and pressing left or right on the d pad
Hey man I’ve just finished recording a full video comparing the rematch and recon 😂 it should be out in a day or two. In short the recon feels very nice in hand and has better trigger design, but for some reason the aiming on the PDP controller is something else. The response curve on the rematch with their built in deadzones actually feel very good to me. I’ve played alot with both and I’d say if your aiming is good with the standard controller then you’ll be fine with recon, as the aiming on recon is very much like it. Rematch on the other hand has something going on, also rematch has no anti friction rings which helps with the use of precision rings. Basically if you feel the aim floaty you could try the precision ring and a higher sensitivity to check what suits you. Recon doesn’t play well with precision ring but just a mid rise kontrolfreek works well on the recon. If you check in a couple of days, the video will be on my channel. Either of them are a good deal in my opinion, but for me personally I’d rather have a cheaper feeling but better aiming controller, because I’m mostly playing COD only.

I'd say PDP just because the thumbstick issue I faced with power A, also I got other comments from people saying they'd issues with power A similar to mine. Are you on Xbox or PC?
I just googled the 8bit do and man I’ll be getting that for a review now 😂. For me between these 2 the PDP kinda wins, specially after others also commented about their issues with Power A, seems like there must be a bad batch out there. The 8bit though looks interesting, the mobile app to control things on the fly, that’s something just appearing in the form of very expensive Razer PS5 pro controller.
@@thephototechy yes 8bitdo is a fantastic third party company. I already own the pro 2 for the switch and pro 2 wired for the xbox due to the fantastic Dpad being on the top somewhat like the PlayStation layout both are great since i use them for 2D and fighting style games. I'm just tempted to purchase the Ultimate wired Xbox version since it's styled more as a regular Xbox controller just not sure if it's worth spending more for that if one of these is better. Possibly a comparison can help with the decision.

@@najvisiusobi yeah same here TBH. I don’t know why this is happening, I have so many controllers without any issues and I’m not particularly kind to them whilst using. I still have an Xbox one day one controller and still works fine. I do hope the stick issues with controllers gets sorted. It’s just not feasible manufacturing these controllers with all the packaging and they are going in the bin. I’d rather spend more if the parts are modular and replaceable. Sony seems to have taken up the idea of replaceable thumbsticks, let’s see what their controller turns out to be.

I've had the Power A Advantage Lumectra RGB about 8 months and came to this video because it developed the "gittery" right stick issue you described out of no where. It started in certain games when I would open my maps it would be all over the place to the point I just couldn't use maps in certain games. After watching the video I think PDP deserves a try.

Thanks man! I have to say if the power A didn’t develop the issue I had, I’d still recommend it, but PDP is doing a great job with the aiming sticks. I’m about to publish my full review of the victrix gambit which is also by PDP, and same thing on that one as well, it’s not just the built in deadzones it’s the response curve which feels very connected to me. I do love using precision rings on PDP and without them putting a tall Kontrolfreek might feel a bit loose. I’m very excited about their BFG PS5 controller, I might actually get a PS5 just for that 😂
You should get a PC and then you have it for the office and the Xbox in the living room that's what I do. The dead zones and response curve make or break the controller I can't get my elite 2 to be competitive because of the dead zones I think so if I like the rematch maybe I'll get the gambit.
@@sevn8757 Ah man that’d be amazing. I have a few laptops but they are for my photography and video clients. They only have a 1650 in them, so I’ve never been able to play games above low quality. Originally I wanted to build a gaming PC but with Covid happening and me changing work everything just went off the rails. Now though I was checking some pre built PC from scan here in UK and they do look very tempting.
Building a PC really isn't the money saver that it used to be I built my old one this time I bought a pre built with a 3060 for 1000 dollars on sale. It's comparable to the Xbox but at 1080P pretty much everything runs at 120fps or close to it
@@sevn8757 I have to say I was checking the series X COD MW2 in 1440p at 60fps and then switched to 1080 120 and the 120 definitely looked worse but feels very smooth. There’s definitely some sacrifices made with Series X when we switch to 120fps, mainly draw distance and edges getting a bit zagged for me. Having a PC with true high settings at 1080 120fps would be amazing.

bought a pdp on accident when i was shopping online for the official microsoft xbox controller, lasted me 3 years. 2 years light use, 1 year abused and it just drifted lol.
edit: keep in mind, i never played any shooting games with a controller, just racing games and adventure games. also on the year it drifted, i heavily pressed on the analogs for hours on end each day for a whole year because i was using it for drifting games. also great review 👍

That’s actually not bad, if I get eight months of use from Power A for the price it’s at, I’d be happy. Unfortunately for me it was more like 6 weeks. The feel of their controllers with the back button design is soooo good. I still want to buy the infinity spectra to try the trigger stops.
If you hold the mute button, you can change the volume and chat mixture using the D pad hence the symbols on the dpad

I didn’t mention it in this video but PDP rematch is the cheapest Xbox controller that can be over clocked to 500hz on PC, something way more pricey controllers can’t do. I really do love the aim response of the PDP stuff, it’s a little different to PowerA. Please remember PDP has built in deadzones so make sure in game deadzones are set to zero, otherwise it’ll feel very sluggish. May you dominate many lobbies to come 😂 thanks for the support bro.

@@KasperK-nj5lq hey so I opened the cheaper controllers (recon,rematch&enhanced) and found them to be using the same favorunion thumbsticks. I actually opened the potentiometer housing on my rematch just to see inside and closed it, that actually made the sticks behave strangely, but I was able to do a recalibration from PDP software and that brought the sticks back to near perfect performance.
You see the cheaper sticks from favorunion are rated for 1m rotations and only 100k presses. So any controller be it turtle beach, PowerA or PDP using them can have issues very quickly.
Now that you’ve mentioned Hori, that has me intrigued on what type of stick it might be using. Appreciate the info bro!
My PowerA xbox one controller just broke (left pad drifting like crazy plus bumpers and triggers were also falling appart, B button from playing too much souls games also kinda broke) i guess i will pick PDP this time even tho it's a little more expensive since i see PowerA still haven't fixed those issue from seeing your video and reading to the comments.
Hey so I opened both of these and found them to be using the same thumbstick modules and tact switches for bumpers also same potentiometer based triggers. PDP has the advantage of software support and built in deadzones with calibration support.
With your PowerA I’d suggest try a calibration first and see if the stick issue fixes it. I have a video on fusion pro 3 calibration on my channel and that’ll work with enhanced and other PowerA controllers as well. Hope this helps.
I just got the pdp today to have a working controller, but I’ll always rep the fusion pro controller!! Got the 1sr and 2nd gen. PowerA makes the fusion pro I believe. Watching this felt i made the right decision on the pdp. A good controller to just have in general.
So I opened both of them and these are so close with internals it’s insane, sticks are same modules, triggers are potentiometer based on both. I've recent had a PowerA spectra infinity give up on me after a year of use, but I also bought it pre owned. I had a similar stick issue, but mine was resolved with the companion app on the xbox store and a simple recalibration through that app too.
Bro thank you sooo much for this comment, I didn’t even know about the app. I managed to do the recalibration and the jitter did get fixed,but the problem of aim going up is still there.I’ve tried different deadzone settings and still the issue persist. Still having this app is definitely a big plus for power A. I think I’ll be getting the spectra infinity now just to try those trigger stops. Really appreciate the info bro!

Ran through two of the power a first one took a month so I thought it was just my luck so I got another power a and this one only lasted 3 days before the d pad stopped working
As someone who has had the power A enhanced controller multiple times I can tell you that the controller is great, you see I play a lot of Raimbow Six siege and need a good controller with paddles for a cheap price and I have really enjoyed playing with it as the paddles feel great the triggers feel good however it is a very short-lived controller… I do take care of my controller and do not rage and smash or damage it in any way however I had had three in the space of around 6 months. The first lasted me around 3 months. The second one around 1 month and a half and now my most recent one which broke 2 days ago for just 2 weeks…
Hey I do love Power A controller feel. I just got the fusion pro 3 and man it feels so good. Have to say the sticks are feeling a bit different on fusion pro 3. I’m really putting a lot of time on it atm, hoping it’ll have better longevity. If the fusion pro 3 turns out to be better, than every other Xbox controller maker will have a problem on their hands. My elite series 2 developed faults with real minimal use, only my PDP rematch, victrix gambit and Razer wolverine have shown durability.
Adjusting the dead zones on the analog sticks and triggers are the sole reason I will only buy the PDP. Plus every time I get when it comes with 30 free days of game pass ultimate. I've had Power a and I have nothing wrong with them but they don't have the app to adjust dead zones and stuff. Power a is pretty good though

Ah man that'd be amazing, I'm interested to see how PDP products do with customers. I'm very interested in the BFG pro for PS5, so far I do think that PDP are making reliable controllers , just the feel is a bit cheap, but I'd rather have a cheap feeling but longer lasting rather than nice feeling and unriable product.

@@HighTopJopI liked both imma tell you some pros and cons ( my hands are big so may be different problems) rq PDP had better better feeling paddles but mine kept breaking literally crack and be unplayable , Joystick never drifted for me nice feeling controller closer to a regular Xbox series s/x controller (weight wise) , Power A I felt personally had more grip nice feel paddles were small but it never not once for me cracked or broke the joystick tho did drift after long wear and tear buttons felt nice as well. There both good options I play Fortnite mainly and edit with left stick so constantly applying pressure to left stick causing more wear and tear the paddles tho power a just for longevity was better for me. Last review to me if power a had a better joystick I would pick it over all the time , i would buy both there both reasonable priced and test both out I seen a more upgraded version of power a and I remember photo techs said they upgraded there joysticks cost more but I may go to it now I didn’t use control freaks or anything pdp is more closer built to regular Xbox controller than power a I remember it did take me a day or 2 to get used to the feel but not a big deal at all

Hey, the face buttons on power A feels better to me, as they require a bit more force to actuate. But in all honesty the difference is not a lot.
Pdp rematch has BROKEN mic monitoring issues on Windows 10. I have tested this with multiple computers and multiple xboxes, as well as other PDP controllers like the afterglow. Specifically the rematch has a mic monitoring bug for PC where mic monitoring is tied to mic volume, so if you disable mic monitoring nobody can hear you. On top of all of this the controller will not remember PDP control hub settings from any PC but will remember settings from an Xbox.
on the pdp controller how do you change the dead zone to zero, BTW i have had 3 power A controllers & all of them got bad stick drift in less than one month, My old pdp pad i lost the back plate that controls the 2 back buttons & i threw the pad very hard its all cracked it has had coffee on it one screw holding it all together & everything still works great for over 2 years no stick drift no anything, My Turtle Beach React-R Controller that i used for three weeks got Horrendous stick drift & the right trigger stopped working & i looked after that pad, So am going to buy a PDP Rematch, And i wanted to know about changing the dead zone to zero as mentioned in your Vid BTW a great vid you got a new Subscriber👍
Hey so I've opened the rematch, enhanced and turtle beach recon and all of them are using identical internals. I think PDP has the edge because of built in deadzones and their custom response curve. The sticks they ar eusing are the cheaper models in the favorunion line up, and only rated for half the life of an alps or their own higher model.
The PDP control hub allows us to change the deadzone numbers but mine was set to zero out of box any way, still at that zero setting they have some deadzones applied, as evident by the perfect centre position. I honestly think everyone has to stop using the cheaper modules and start using favorunion's higher quality module, the ones in Victrix Gambit.
The story about yor PDP controller is amazing, after so much its still going strong. One thing I's suggest about PowerA, is to open the controller and reset the poteniometer. PowerA controllers are the easiest to open and resetting the potentiometer solved my issue. But it's up to the individual if they want to open their controllers.

On my Power A control my LT button would press the RT button at the same time. So when I'm playing cod zombies it would shoot immediately as i would aim and would be extremely annoying. Especially if I'm trying to go for headshots it would shoot immediately as i press the LT button

Hey the normal Xbox one and series Kontrolfreek works, they are just a bit tight and leave marks. The PS4/PS5 are a bit loose but works well as they don’t come off whilst gaming, also they don’t leave any marks on the stick. I like using the galaxies, specially the high rise on the right aiming stick.
Had a power A controller then it went bad with the triggers now i have a PDP gonna see how well it holds up
im gonna be honest, the xbox one version of the powera enhanced controllers are signifigantly better than the series s/x ones. with the xb1 version i never had any issues with stick drift, but the xss/x sticks gave out recently after using it for a few months which stinks.
Bro now i'm gonna have to get one of the old ones. I saw they even made the spectra infinity for XB1 with trigger stops. I wonder if Alps couldn't provide Power A with the higher lifecyle modules due to supply issues. I read there are 2 types of modules, one with 1 million actuations and 100k presses,another with 2 million actuations and 500k presses. EIther way the enhanced is such a good feeling controller, but all the comments I've recieved about reliability issues means it's not just my unit.
Power a support is amazing I have the spectra infinity and after a month the charger broke they sent me a brand new controller so now I have 2

Do not buy the SPECTRA infinity either, I’ve went through 3 of them and my 4th is in my closet in the box after the right trigger just broke off inside, the actual mechanism broke, as well as the trigger stops are fragile and that’s why the other 3 broke and I refunded them all hoping the next one would last, but they all break within 1 month of use… stay far away from POWER A

As someone who plays heavily shooters, this is my opinion. I've gone thru 2 scuff reflex with tac switches. 300$+ each within a year. One evil controller. 200$+. Switched to Xbox controllers. Although it's a bit more than 30$ at 39.99 sometimes on sale for 30$ tho, the powerA advantage has usb c and trigger locks. Plus back buttons remap. Absolutely phenomenal so far. Performs way better and has taken a beating so far. If it breaks within 6 months no problem😂 I'll throw 30-40 at them twice a year. Most of the switches inside the meter go bad on most remotes with heavy play in 6 months no matter the price point. I'm talking 100+ hrs a month anyway on the controller. If you're somewhat technical and don't mind working on a remote you love, it's reasonably simple to replace the sensors inside the joysticks. U can get a dozen or 6 sets for 8$
Thought I'd add, I play on pc so not sure if the console avenue is as user friendly.
I tried both controllers ended up returning the Power A. I liked the PDP better for a few reasons, its USB C, and for me I like to map the "view" & "menu" buttons to the extra paddle buttons on the back. The power A controller wouldn't allow me to map those buttons, which is ultimately why I returned it. The PDP does allow for such mapping. Its a useful mapping strategy for RPG's where you are constantly dipping into menus/inventories. At least it is imho.

@@thephototechy Agreed, I hope it's just a bad batch cuz the rest of the controller is good. You might want to look into reviewing the Nacon Revolution X Pro. I've owned it for 5 months and there is no sign of any stick drift even though I have the deadzones set to 0 in game and in the controller app. And this is with HEAVY use.

@@zikopro7369 ah bro I’d say check other controllers as pc will have way better options compared to these 2. But if you need to decide between the PDP and PowerA for PC, then PDP would win as you can overclock it to atleast 500hz and get better performance, PowerA are locked at 250hz.
If you do look at other options like Flydigi, bigbigwon etc, you might be able to get a lot for your money and not having the Xbox license won’t affect you negatively either.

PDP is so much better than PowerA when it comes to quality controllers. I've had issues with multiple PowerA controllers. Never had an issue with PDP.

good review i been using power a the last 3 controllers after 4 months i get stiff analog stick witch makes it slow to move the character i did try cleaning whit air spray but no luck so am going try pdp one this month
4 months is definitely not enough, I understand that the sticks are designed in a way that they'd fail. I still can't get my head around how my elite series 1 lasted me over 6 years. Don't know if the products are becoming lesser quality or the games we are playing are more demanding on the inputs. In my case its always been COD, Battlefield and Battlefront.

@@DavidLink05 the benefit of the elite is definitely the premium feel, 4 back buttons and Microsoft complete, which is a 3 year cover against faults and accidental damage. When I play with cheaper controllers the only thing I miss if the elite is 4 back buttons and the hair triggers. It’s just the elite is so expensive.
Power a spectra controller lasts about a month with heavy use. If power A can improve the thumbsticks then I would use all the time. After going through 2 spectra controllers and the right stick gets insane drift and squeaks. Sucks because it's a great feeling controller
I know, the ergonomics and the back button design is superb. If only the reliability can be improved, this would be unbeatable. I think PDP are using the same thumbstick modules,but they have done the tuning very differently, which in my opinion is giving PDP an upper hand. If Power A could implement the PDP thumbstick tuning,and PDP could somehow implement trigger stops,then these would be much better buys than the much more expensive pro controllers.

@@Mcflrp I actually wanted to add the recon in this vid, but the price point is so different from these. The Recon goes for £50 here whilst these are £30. It’d be a good comparison though, I do really like the recon and it was the first controller I bought after my series 1 had issues.
Surprisingly, I bought a cheap Chinese "no name" wireless controller for my son's Nintendo Switch it is going 6 months now and fine, no drifting. We had Power A before and after 2 months, pure drifting. My character in Mortal Kombat 11 jumping without me pressing and directional button.
I've had both and PowerA seems better IMO. PDP was okay, but the sticks aren't very comfortable due to their texture. I also didn't like the sharp grips. Both these things made the controller feel bad during longer gaming sessions.
PowerA fixed both these issues. Too bad mine got stuck drift quite soon (compared to how long OG controllers last) because I actually like that controller. I would often use it over the OG Xbox controller
Sounds like the same issue I had with my power A controller.
Man if the sticks didn’t develop an issue for me, I’d definitely stay with PowerA. My PDP rematch is still going strong to this day, although I do game with a lot of different controllers. Just to let you know I got the PowerA fusion pro 3 and will be making a initial review very soon. First impressions after a day of playing 2042 and MW2 are very positive, loving the new 4 back buttons so far. Plz stay tuned for a full review and comparison with the victrix gambit, thanks.

I've bought about 10 PowerA Controllers over the past 3 years why..? stick drift or that jitter issue..I love powerA but I'm done with the faults. 7months was the longest I've had with no issues.. hence why I was looking at this video..I'm running away from powerA 😔. They've served me well but I need better things.
I have to say their controllers feel amazing, I just wish they could last atleast 12 months. I do wonder why PowerA sticks are having issues and the original controllers from Xbox and PS don't get that frequently, maybe ALPS the sticks manufacturer gives the better quality sticks to Microsoft and Sony for contractual reasons.
Power A isn't the greatest at all I bought 1 it had stick drift out of the box and it's cheap feels cheap
I have the power A enhanced controller metallic blue i bought and it works really good. I recently bought a power A controller baby blue that works with xbox one xbox sires s and pc. But for some reason it on the xbox one s it wont vibrate. But on the xbox one it vibrates very low so when playing a shooting games it doesn’t have a kick like the enhanced version.
I personally recommend the enhanced version its a solid controller at a very good price its.
Good weight to it runs better in my opinion than the original controller its has a good kick when shooting. If you can find one online i recommend checking it out.

Hey I’ve opened so many controllers now and both of these have very similar internals, same stick modules and tact switches. PDP does have built in deadzones with their own output from sticks.
How does it feel. Is it light in weight as compare to original controller? I’ve older version of pdp and it’s really light in weight don’t like the feel of it. Is it any better?
Ah that’s something I missed in this video. Yes the PDP is very light and I know sometimes that feels cheap. PowerA is a bit heavier but still a bit lighter than standard controller. PowerA spectra infinity I’ve heard has some weight and feels a lot more premium. I myself was used to of the elite series 1 for years, and I thought I need a controller with some weight to stabilise my hands, help with aiming, but I have to say I did get used to the light weight.

Hey Preston, yes I remember that review it came from a very frustrated place. Now I've realized the frustration is with xbox and not Activision. I just don't get the forced crossplay with PC players. I've been playing COD since 360 launch COD2 and it's always been on Xbox, now though I'm getting a PS5. I'll be purchasing the game again as I really love it, but I do need the option to turn the cross play off when I feel like it. I know the way to turn it off through Xbox settings but that only works for the 6v6 and not for ground war and invasion game modes.I myself consider a casual gamer and COD is my most played game.Over the years many of my friends left the Xbox platform specially when PS4 came out, but I stayed and TBH loved the XB1 and now the series X. Combining the forced crossplay and many of my friends playing COD on PS4 and PS5, and telling me how they are able to turn off crossplay and still play ground war,invasion and Warzone as well, is just the push I needed to get my first ever playstation.

For me personally, I’d go for the PDP rematch, just because it’s been more reliable in my case. If for any reason only power A is available, it’s still a very good controller with amazing ergonomics.

Hey thanks a alot. I stopped using power A due to the aiming issue with the right thumbstick, PDP on the other hand is just fine. The back buttons have developed a bit of play on PDP,as I use them alot for cod, but they work every time and haven't lost resistance so still no accidental actuations. In all honesty if Power A can last longer than thats a no brainer as PDP sort of lack in built quality and feel. Still PDP is going strong for me and the Power A lasted me just about 3 months. A lot of people did confirm that Power A is very good with the after sales support, but like I mentioned I don't know what I did with my reciept. If you are playing FPS then aiming is very important and to me it feels better on PDP, just remember to put your in game deadzones to zero as it has built in deadzones. Power A has better triggers and Dpad also same could be said for the ABXY buttons as well, but for me its PDP just because my Power A failed on me.

Hey man, I use my controllers very aggressively, specially playing FPS games. For me the PDP felt good, only thing is it’s a very light controller and feels like using thin plastic. How long the structural rigidity last is anyone’s guess at this point. For the couple of months I’ve had it, it’s been absolutely fine, the face buttons, bumpers, triggers and the sticks all been just like day one. The back buttons did get a little bit play developed on the outer plastic shells they are using, but the function and press is perfect. I’d love to say 2 years would be ok but with my recent experiences with controllers, it feels like everyone is aiming for a controller that last maybe a year only.

@@Warmaster2143 it depends, if there’s a benefit of pressing a face button without taking the thumb off aiming stick, u can use a back button. For instance jump shot or drop shot in fps. For some it’s a big deal and others are fine without them. I personally love the idea, I feel as if I can stay in the action if I don’t have to move the thumb off the aiming stick.
Which one is more reliable
Hey, in my case the PDP seems to be more reliable. But I did open both these controllers and they seem very similar in component. The sticks they are using are the ones that are rated for 100k actuations and 100k press. So these should have a similar life span. The PowerA had better in hand feel, PDP however, has better aiming and response curve for thumbsticks. Also PDP can assign view and select to back buttons, PowerA can’t. Either way both for the price are good controllers.
@@thephototechy Thanks but im going to buy controller to play split screen wrc9 with my brother and One Punch Man they both arent basef on aiming so little aim differences wont really affect the gameplay and i love Power A 's design and colour so probably Power A will suit me more uhh i dont know thats too complicated for people who lives at Turkey like me because they are too expensive 8th gen costs around 80 dollars and Power A costs around 30 dollars Power A is pretty cheap so this will be a better choice even it breaks down i can buy 2nd hand 9th gen and that will solve the issue
@@DanceOfStars PowerA are actually very well built, the material they use is thick and in hand they do feel very very nice. They’ve just released the fusion pro 3 and it’s become my favourite Xbox controller. The design of PowerA controller is for sure amazing.

Hey so both are pretty good and in terms of internals very very similar. One thing the PDP has is the ability to be overclocked on PC to 500hz, bringing the response time to 2ms from 4. PowerA are locked to 250hz so even overclocking them keeps the response time to 4ms.
In terms of design and in hand feel, PowerA edges ahead slightly. Also PowerA has just released the advantage line, it’s I believe $5 more but adds trigger stops, so a worthy consideration as well. Hope this helps bro.

Iittle info about the pdp, u can change the audio settings for game chat on the fly in the game by holding the audio function button and pressing left or right on the d pad
I love both, but PDP is 1st for me and PowerA is my 2nd favorite to get. If anything. My green PowerA controller comes today 💚🔥🎮

Hey man I’ve just finished recording a full video comparing the rematch and recon 😂 it should be out in a day or two. In short the recon feels very nice in hand and has better trigger design, but for some reason the aiming on the PDP controller is something else. The response curve on the rematch with their built in deadzones actually feel very good to me. I’ve played alot with both and I’d say if your aiming is good with the standard controller then you’ll be fine with recon, as the aiming on recon is very much like it. Rematch on the other hand has something going on, also rematch has no anti friction rings which helps with the use of precision rings. Basically if you feel the aim floaty you could try the precision ring and a higher sensitivity to check what suits you. Recon doesn’t play well with precision ring but just a mid rise kontrolfreek works well on the recon. If you check in a couple of days, the video will be on my channel. Either of them are a good deal in my opinion, but for me personally I’d rather have a cheaper feeling but better aiming controller, because I’m mostly playing COD only.

I'd say PDP just because the thumbstick issue I faced with power A, also I got other comments from people saying they'd issues with power A similar to mine. Are you on Xbox or PC?

I just googled the 8bit do and man I’ll be getting that for a review now 😂. For me between these 2 the PDP kinda wins, specially after others also commented about their issues with Power A, seems like there must be a bad batch out there. The 8bit though looks interesting, the mobile app to control things on the fly, that’s something just appearing in the form of very expensive Razer PS5 pro controller.
@@thephototechy yes 8bitdo is a fantastic third party company. I already own the pro 2 for the switch and pro 2 wired for the xbox due to the fantastic Dpad being on the top somewhat like the PlayStation layout both are great since i use them for 2D and fighting style games. I'm just tempted to purchase the Ultimate wired Xbox version since it's styled more as a regular Xbox controller just not sure if it's worth spending more for that if one of these is better. Possibly a comparison can help with the decision.
