My sister and I had the same Dream House as you. I thought the elevator was the coolest thing ever. The 90s being in historical gave me a few extra gray hairs.
Something I miss about Barbie when I was growing up was it wasn't all pink. Love the green coat. I'd love love love to see you make an adult version of it. I'd be wearing it every day
This is such a fun video of doll field tripping! I visited Chicago (my hometown) in spring and made a special first-time trip to the American Girl Doll store there. Emily was so smart to wear a sheer pink dress over the black and white bathing suit-- what a great way to feature both! And of course you look great too!
I've been looking forward to this video! The Barbie experience looked so much fun! While I didn't see them have the Barbie house I had when I was a kid, they did have the one my aunt had - the cardboard 1962 set! I actually got to play with it for a while as my aunt let me play with her Barbie stuff until she had a daughter. I was 13 by then, and was more than good with handing them back over by the time she was old enough to play with Barbies. I did see that doll house at a doll show a few years ago and nostalgia hit and I was very tempted to buy it. Still kind of wish I did, but I just have no room for it. I am so out of the loop for American Girl dolls, I don't recognize nearly any of them anymore, and I can't tell which ones are the historical girls and which ones are the girls of the year and which are just the girls of today. I really like Claudie, she's so very cute! Her 20's outfits are a lot of fun and I kind of want her bakery now! lol
Oh, that must have been so cool to play with the 1962 house! All of the AG dolls I collect are the historical ones, but the painful thing is that the historical line now includes girls from 1999! 😥
I've loved American Girl dolls since I first saw one in 2000! As a single mom of 4 kids, I couldn't begin to afford one but ordered the catalogs so my girls and I could drool over them! It was exciting to get to go along on your shopping trip to an American Girl store. So many new dolls in the last 20 years! I still want to own all the historical ones and I still can't afford them but thanks for the vicarious thrill!
I had fun tagging along, but never was a kid to play with my dolls. I think I might've enjoyed American Girls, though, because of the partnership with the books. The books woulda filled in what my imagination lacked. Thanks, Rebecca, for all the California Adventures!
I work at a thrift store and have had multiple Barbie cars come through along with many Barbies. I still have many of my Barbie stuff from when I was a child. I even have an original black and white swimsuit that I have no idea how it ended up in my collection. I do have Julie and Ivy. They were my first dolls from American Girl. She reminded me of my friend growing up. The bathroom was WOW! Crazy but WOW. I'm glad you had so much fun.
My daughter loved the Barbie bug car so much when she was little that when she turned 15 and we needed to teach her how to drive I bought her a yellow new beetle and we still own it even though she's 30.
@@phranerphamily I totally forgot that I have a red Barbie Bug car. Funny that it wasn't my nieces that played with it, it was my oldest nephew who loved cars of all kinds. I collect hot wheels and other toy cars and he'd play with them alongside my car obsessed dog.
I have the camper van that you showed from the early 1970s. As a matter of fact it might still be at my mother's house in the basement 😊 Just an aside I love the content that you do like this because I get to live vicariously through you going to things that I either can't go to because I can't afford or that my mobility issues make it not something easily done. So thank you and Emily for taking us along on your journey of the Los Angeles area and costume college.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions I'm sorry to hear that. I'll edit my comment so that it doesn't include that because I don't want anybody coming and being disappointed. My house is there but my kids live in it now so I don't go to Alderwood very often anymore. That area is going to be changing a lot in the next 10 years so I wonder if it would be something that might open again.
@@phranerphamily unfortunately I think American girl's plan is to keep closing off stores, potentially only keeping a few flagship stores open. I've heard that it might wind up just being NYC, Chicago, Dallas, and LA.
1. How cute are you and Emily?? Love the outfits! 2. World of Barbie looks very fun and I was a bit taken aback by how many of the displayed items I own! 3. Claudie is adorable and she is the one new doll that tempts me to buy her. Is hers a completely unique face mold? Because it is 🔥. 4. Thanks for another great video! Love your content, whether it's about sewing, clothing, or dolls.
I've been showing all of them off in my AG historical accuracy videos! And I do have one from last summer that shows off what my collection was at the time (it's grown since then).
Both trips looked to be fun. :) If I ever get to visit New York City, which is several hours away from where I currently live, the American Girl store is one of the places I definitely want to stop by. I had bought an older Samantha mini doll from eBay, but I'm still interested in having at least one 18-inch doll. My top picks are, perhaps, Nicki and Rebecca.
I love Emily's idea of wearing the striped swim suit under a sheer dress. It's a very creative way to "cosplay" an outfit that normally would be difficult to pull-off without being pool-side. I love whenever people find new ways to expand the versatility of fashion/costuming in a way that makes it possible to wear it out more and not only for certain contexts. I feel like over the years I've struggled integrating some of my Lolita wardrobe into daily wear so seeing this outfit was really inspiring!
Thats so cool! I read Addy as a kid and at the time there weren't many dolls/girls of color (i think she was the only one in the early 90s) so i love seeing that new ones are coming out. I think i need to check my library like you said bc i dont think i finished Addy's story and now can look for Claudie!
Addy's books are sooo good. I highly recommend them. My second favorite character's book series is Melody, who's story takes place during the Civil Rights Movement, and her story is so impactful. My library is being really slow to get Claudie's second book in, but I've heard it's good!

@katzenliebe...: I wish I had as much German as you have English! I always feel embarrassed when Europeans apologize for their English when I only have a few words in their language. I feel VERY uneducated in comparison!
@@katzenliebe2697 I did buy a pattern for a Regency doll dress, so it's probably one I'll do eventually, though I don't have any immediate plans for it. Also, your English is good!
That looks like so much fun! Claude's outfits are amazing but especially that minty green jacket set. It is so gorgeous! A little sad the store didn't show any felicity's and only one samantha TT, like you said the historical dolls are the best. It's so sad they've gone way more heavy on the modern sets.
Felicity is unfortunately retired and no longer available, and only the Samantha doll is available - you can't buy any outfits for her from AG anymore. It's really too bad!
great video! i'm going to ag place chicago in a few weeks! kit is definitely one of my top 3 girlies, are you going to make a historical accuracy video for her? i've found several magazines and patterns online that inspired her outfits!
Thanks! I love Kit's outfits, but I'm not sure if I'll do a video on them, because I don't have a ton of them, and I also am not familiar with 1930s kids clothes. So we'll see.

I like Addy and Claudia but being English they where not a part of my childhood so have no nostalgia for them

Yeah, it's only the newest ones that are ADA accessible unfortunately.
The 90's are historic? 😶
