Have you guys done any penetration tests in ballistic gel which may or may not be an accurate method? Point is learning which arrow weight with the broad head you wil hunt with gives you both an acceptable speed ( in your view) and penetration. Of coarse at 80#'s it probably isn't relevant but at 70#'s it can be very relevant.
Great question Tim, we have toyed with idea of doing some sort of simulation for penetration. There are a ton of variables involved with this type of test, for example are we testing the the arrow weight or the broad head? So we both dove down the Dr. Ed Ashby rabbit hole 2 years ago and we both agree, if penetration is first on the list of priorities a single bevel broad head is your head. We plan on testing a few this year and maybe sharing the results. We would like to test these on arrow set ups with weights from 575 to 650 grains. We keep saying we are going to make an arrow build video, but it seems like there are so many topics not sure which is best to start with.
Real question is it worth getting the Levitate if you have a Mach 1? Either way, I think the PSE carbon's are the most innovative and best shooting bow made in a long time and specifically for hunting. And I am a giant Bowtech Fang Boy! For whatever reason I thought the Levitate did not shoot as well as the Mach 1 but lots of the opposite experience. Makes me think the shops Levitate has something wrong with it.
Hey Chris thanks for watching! You are correct that is the biggest question, is the Levitate worth it if you already have the Mach 1? After spending a ton of time shooting them both, the main improvements that the Levitate brings to the table are quite substantial. It is 8-10 fps faster/more efficient, it is slightly quieter and has a bit less vibration or jump at the shot. Those things are good but the biggest improvement that we both have noticed is it’s accuracy and forgiveness. When the levitate is tuned properly, it holds similar to a target bow and the groups we have been able to shoot with it on a regular basis are far more impressive than what we experienced with the Mach 1. Not sure exactly how this bow shoots like it does or what improvements made it more accurate but in our opinion and experience it is!
@@brosbeforebowshunting That is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you I appreciate making these videos very few people dive into these types of set ups but there are people out there like you and I that love them!
So the levtate is not harsher than the Mach 1? Seems like Mach 1 there is 10fps faster due 5lbs of draw weight maybe the IBOs are more similar, like to these two bow with same dw head to head.
Thanks for watching! Go check out our latest video where we do just that. 80 lb PSE Nock On Carbon Levitate Limb Swap and Speed Test th-cam.com/video/iTi7b3W63HU/w-d-xo.html The main difference between the two draw cycles deals more with the valley. It seems that the valley on the levitate is shorter, but in many ways the draw cycle itself is smoother than the Mach 1. Stay tuned for more content with the levitate!
@@brosbeforebowshunting are the IBOs more similar in speed, always thought Mach 1 was moving along faster than IBO which is unusual for most bows usually go slower.
The listed IBO for the Mach 1 was listed at 332, we always felt that it over performed. The levitate has an IBO listed at 348, which it seems to be pretty close. Both bows are no slouch in the performance category.
Appreciate your thoughts, but a huge disservice to the Levitate by shooting it at a completely different spec. You could turn your Ventum and Mach 1 down to 75 and do a quickie... Love the concept, thank you!
Hey Jordan, thanks for watching! Yes, it’s slower but it’s 75 lb DW while the other two are 80 lb DW. With that in mind it’s pushing those arrows pretty fast.
@@brosbeforebowshunting Hey, thanks for the review. I own a Mach 1 and have been considering getting a levitate, so this was pretty helpful. It seems to me, there's only a slight difference in performance. I'm not sure it justifies the price jump - at least not for me. What I've found with the Mach 1 is that it "insists" on being shot with a slightly higher wrist than other PSE bows I've shot - Stinger, EVO XF, Omen, etc. I have a feeling it's the same with the Levitate. Once I gave in to how it wanted to be shot, the performance has been great!
Thank you for watching! You are correct, the Mach 1 is still one of the best carbon bows on the market. With the evo cam, the draw cycle is a bit more pleasant and “easier” to shoot. Stay tuned and good luck in the woods!!

i agree. i went to buy the levitate, but mach 1 with EC cam is so smooth
That EC cam is hard to beat when it comes to the draw!
