Exactly, it's not they dont want Bow 'Hunting'. They dont want Bow 'Hunters'.
They dont want hunters at all. Their plan is just one sub group at a time.

There was a move internationally to ban selling Seeds to grow your own food. It was pushed experimentally in the US and New Zealand by Big Companies like Monsanto. You now see the same with 15 Minute travel zones they test these ideas in one or two countries to see if the public will fall for it. During Covid PM Scott "BUDDY" 😂Morrison pushed MONEY IS DIRTY don't use it this was tried here first we now see a push to rid every country of Cash Making it easy for government to control everything you do, what you spend, where you travel what products you are allowed to have even applying fines directly. This is already in effect America used Ukraine as a test bed to fully digitalise all Government services and Banking. Ukraine is a Nazi State with no free media no opposition parties carrying out all sorts of terror on its population even against religion. Imagine what will happen if you disobey orders. Don't think this is tinfoil hat stuff you're seeing it everyday.

Having lived in this State all my life, it's becoming more and more anti-hunting in general, not just bow hunting.
Every year the loud minority, lobby to try and ban the duck and quail hunting season.
As you mentioned, you don't hear a thing from the RSPCA when the 1080 poison signs go up in our national parks!
Now that is cruel and inhumane and in discriminant ....... secondary poisoning is rarely mentioned.

Is it humane that hundreds of fish a day, be caught in a net , and struggle and drown for over an hour ??
or how about these animal production farms, where cattle, fish, chickens are stuffed in a small cage, and slaughtered by the tens of thousands, for fast food restaurants ??
Bow hunting is a traditional way of life for alot of humans with sustenance lifestyles (Subsistence living).
These Australian lawmakers, don't know where their food comes from....have they been to an animal processing plant lately. ? Have they experienced a bowhunt ?
First they Shorten the Length of Knife blade you can carry. and ban many other brands of knives.
Then these small groups, push to ban the type of Ammunition you can use followed quickly by the types of guns , untill all guns are banned.
Then these small groups , push a ban on Campfire, at a campsite , and what type of wood should be used.
Then they restrict what type of outdoor vehicle you can use, in chosen camp sites.
They put restrictions on Hiking trails .
They put bans on where to hunt (private property) and what to hunt, and with what firearm is allowed.
They put a ban on what type of fishing hook to use and when to use it and what season to catch a specie of fish.
Now they want to ban Bowhunting from Traditional to Compound to crossbows and how many arrows your allowed to have on your person. How much poundage, types of arrows & broadheads etc.
They put more caps and restrictions with pushing and hiking the price of the hunting licences, permits, training courses, tags, dress codes, till it becomes a massive investment to hunt and deter people all together .
It won't be long till they turn the listing of "declared pests" into game animal title and you can't even hunt, trap , snare these.
It won't be long till they put up a paid for , Course , where a would be hunter , will have to go through a month long training course and prove their hunting skill and carry a paper , that proves they have put in the time and aquired the skill to hunt.
But when their is a Specie population problem , (example Feral Cats) They put laws on how many feral Cats and other pests, you can harvest and how much each one is. These politicians have no problem with controlling this hunt, either , and which hunting tools to use (ex: poison)
You break these laws, you pay a heavy fine , and loose the small amount of hunting rights, you have left.
How is this ban, gonna affect the Sports hunting business's ?
Do you See a pattern happening here ?
It's about people , who have no experience or learnings , about sustainable / Sustenance /Subsistence living ...
These politician , policy makers are increasing control over people , without facts, science or life experience and are disconnected from their ancestral roots. These types of people are from the assimilation clan and control is their agenda.

Good post, but now the RSPCA will obviously claim that rifle hunting should be banned too.
But, the RSPCA refuses to enforce the law or their ideology in Aboriginal areas where domestic animals routinely suffer horrendous abuse & neglect, let alone wildlife, so until they clean up that particular back yard and hold all people to the same standards & rules, the RSPCA should keep quiet.

Well said mate. As a proud South Australian and occasional bow hunter I am utterly shocked and ashamed of our once great state. I hunt exclusively rabbits and exclusively for food. As a low income earner I am being forced into either obtaining a firearm and all the expensive accruements that go along with it, i.e. a safe, the licence and courses etc etc, or I have to spend more money on meat, quit eating rabbits all together, or become a poacher. None of which I want to do. This draconian and preposterous law hurts everyone except the wealthy, a large fine is only large if you are a middle or lower income earner.

G,day Rob, I have made my home in Victoria but I am South Australian bourn been here 28 years. We as hunters with bow and gun, are in the minority, but bow hunting has been going on for thousands of years, whether we use traditional bows or the new up to date bows, we use the best broadheads we can and practice. But these other people who say it,s unethical and inhumane live in a fantasy, I've been told by my brother in law over there that deer in South Australia are deemed as a pest by government and can be shot with a.22 LR, any ethical hunter wouldn't do it, who wants to lose a deer because of the wrong choice of calibre, what I'm trying to get at is this, certain people in government make these laws by listening to these do-gooders who have they're own interests, I fear it's not going to stop, but these anti hunter groups cry foul when you point out to them about the calici virus or the baiting program here in Victoria to get rid of deer here or even the shooting of deer by government agencies,to me that is unethical and inhumane, just my rant for the day, I believe in one shot one kill and strive to be the best I can, cheers for the channel new subscriber.

Valid comparison regarding the limits of .22s. Or in many hands, other light calibres, but bans/conditions are something to limit as much as possible (like hunting licences/limits for introduced pests). And avoiding suggestions recreational hunting is pest control (it rarely or ever is, but is often detrimental to that objective), & some of the comparisons about the relative ethics of the different techniques. Like bow vs firearm vs poison vs traps & dogs, all have their place in either (or both) recreational and ecological/economic protection activities. As improvements emerge modifications can be made, improvements in bow gear being an example. The parallels between the bunny huggers, green activist & recreational hunter lobbies have many similarities when broken down into fact and emotion, & skewing to an agenda.

RSPCA wants to ban bow hunting because 3 idiots (probably teen idiots who have never hunted) caused harm to animals etc. but the 3 idiots shot arrows with target tips at animals, no bow hunter would do that, a bow hunter uses a broadhead (cutting blade tip) to kill the animal as quickly as possible. So in short RSPCA wants to ban bow hunters when the evidence says bow hunters were not involved in the incidents. That's like banning fishing because someone (not a fisherman) strangled a cat with fishing line.... I wish ordinary citizens could see the lunacy in this & stand up for their fellow man. Poisoning the animals will increase their suffering. Unfortunately RSPCA hasn't let a complete lack of understanding of the subject stop them from developing a strong opinion on it..... now lets get to the real crux of the matter, 3 people were idiots with weapons, happens too often. Gangs harm people, bats, machetes etc. take away bats & machetes and they'll just find another tool to use inhumanely. Don't blame baseball players for having bats, blame the criminal. It doesn't matter how much you ban bow hunting, ban knives, ban this, ban that. Criminals are criminals and they're going to break whatever new laws you make, so get tough on crime not your fellow law abiding citizen. Give this a like if you're sick of being persecuted because of a criminal's actions that you have nothing to do with, despise and would like to see harsher punishment for.

All the inhumane acts involving bows I have thus far seen in media involve non hunters shooting local pets and wildlife with field points on arrows which pretty much stick into the animal and seal up the wound killing them slowly days later.
No actual bow hunter would do this and anyone doing this will take no note of a bow hunting ban because they are being stupid and not actually bowhunting.

LMMFBO...My bow is putting out 13% MORE kinetic energy than required to kill a moose, brown bear, or cape buffalo. The people who DON'T know modern archery should NOT be making laws regarding such.
Make them go watch a 646gr at 17.06% arrow shot out of a Mathews V3X at 60lbs shot through a cadaver of a cape buffalo or even a cow, shot directly through the scapula, and see that it goes full pass through.
Hell, that bow and most in its category set all the way down to 50lbs, and 25" draw STILL wall take down any animal in North America.
Then equate the fact most archers get closer to the animal making a cleaner kill. Then most archer's take more time in the shot placement and result in a cleaner kill...... Imagine that

Here in Tasmania they banned bow hunting. Don't let them do it in SA! Once it's gone it doesn't come back. The people that want to ban it don't do it, have never done it, and don't know anything about it. It's part of our culture, heritage, and traditions. In places they're trying to ban 4x4, campfires, hunting, fishing, etc. They take these things away from us one by one until the only thing to do outside of a city if go for a walk.

Well spoken, the RSPCA it talking about how things make THEM fell not the animals. They support things like poisoning, myxomatosis and calicivirus in controlling animals these are the cruellest In the most inhumane ways of killing. Hunter coming across an animal afflicted with one of the aforementioned would dispatch it is an act of mercy. But the public seldom sees these methods of killing so have little opinion on it. Of all the ways to die as a wild creature is to be hunted by man, it is the quickest and least painful.

We did our evaluations at 15, 20, 25 meters (6 x 6 arrows, max 360 points) and the results ??
the two "hunters" seemed always in a hurry, have the worst result and we don't see them since march. I know very good archer hunters and i think it's safer until you're a very good archer....

Not a bow hunter or even a hunter. I enjoy fishing and can see that they are slowly taking away people's rights to hunt, fish, camp etc. Usually over a small group of idiots who leave a mess behind or think it's their 4WD right to chew up tracks, damage fences and native vegetation, shit and leave shit everywhere and just have little to no respect or care for the environment and other people. Sometimes it can be a couple clowns or incidents that gets something banned. With the push for the voice and some of the other talk around water ways and rights and land if we are not careful, we may give up more rights thinking we are doing the right thing only to find the devil is the detail that was yet to worked out.

Good video and good representation mate, You should have pointed out that aerial culling is illegal as well mate. In Vic the firearms act specifically says no shooting from a moving vehicle and they will say we have a permit, last time I checked you can`t get a permit to kill a person and the reason is it`s against the law so is aerial culling. I would imagine it is the same in South Australia.

The people that are pushing to stop bow hunting or hunting in general have more than likely never hunted anything or even held a gun or bow and arrow. They’d rather poison the animals and have them die a long painful death than control the population by hunting. Poisoned animals are left to slowly die and rot, where as hunting provides food for the hunter’s family. I’m sure that culling the animals by using helicopters is basically the same as poisoning. The animals are most likely left to rot. It would be better to increase the bag limit so that hunters can harvest more animals for food. I think that this is just about disarming the citizens even more.

    Great video mate.
Here in the U.K. bow hunting has been illegal for decade. However there are hundreds if not thousands of animal mutilations as a result of illegal bow hunting every year. Kids who either don't realise the law, or hunters who can't own fire arms. As you stated the efficacy of the practitioner is the key component to an "ethical Kill" and it is much the same for rifle hunters.
This has nothing to do with BowHunting Just hunting. They are already reducing gun ownership in Australia
If you take the time to look in to history.
A certain German chap in the 1030's 40's also banned gun ownership for the public and outlawed fox hunting.
    there is a pattern I'm sure ????

The ethical or unethical aspect is up to the individual Hunter. What he or she decides when to or not to shoot the bow is just a tool. Just like a firearm neither of them have a conscious it is the hunter that is ethical or not.

Well said, unfortunately facts are over looked in favour of votes. I'm not a hunter but believe we should have the right to do so, as a fan of the show MeatEater I am in full support of true hunters, they are the ones most in tune with what is happening in regards to animal populations and are huge supporters of maintaining the balance of non-native species to preserve our native species.

Humans are visual creatures, blood sends panic through most humans, even a cut sends them into the RAH for emergency Band-Aid’s aka ambulance ramping.unfortunately in SA we are so far behind the world due to this natural response which is endemics to the labour government. I’ve been a slaughter man, meat inspector and Hunter for 30 yrs and due to being a rifleman alway head shots or miss. Until retirement I never consider bows but now have been researching across the world and become dumbfounded that we don’t consider it a humane method. I believe we should consider a version similar to USA in tagging and staged methods of tools (bows, rifles, guns, etc as they are tools not weapons)to dispatch animals humanely.

Please please please make a video on the issue all south Australian hunters are facing with the state government having passed bill to COMPLETELY EXTERMINATE ALL DEER FROM SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
This is starting in my local area at the beginning of next month by way of helicopter. culling and we are trying our best to fight it but it's truly a David vs Goliath battle.

Have these people ever seen a animal torn apart alive by wild dogs. Slowly dying from disease starvation and age. I do know what I would prefer. Not to mention the damage feral animals do to native animals and their habitats. We are talking about people that can't spend 10 minutes away from an air conditioner.

Credibility crashed when the vitriol about alternative methods to effectively kill pests was introduced.
Not only proved nothing with the selected facts presented, strung together attempting to justify the theme bowhunting is best, but also attempted to suggest it is relevant to pest control. Apart from surreptitiously getting the stray cats/dogs in urban settings, that is utterly delusional. So is any idea of superior humaneness in field situations, apart from a possible theme arrow cutting wounds are more comfortable than shock/trauma puncture bullet wounds. & Since if internal organ damage is involved the distinction is minor. Not to mention poor shots happen (with firearms also).
Killing animals is always a problem for some, ironically many with cats that happily gratuitously torture vulnerable natives when allowed to exercise their right to freedom etc.(as an example of common double standards). The lobby groups on all sides tend to be selective with facts.
Plenty of good reasons exist to effectively kill pests if our wildlife is to be saved.
And reasons also for the opportunity for recreational hunting on public land if it is not compromising such pest control (it is planets away from being pest control) wherever permitted, free of fees, licences & limits. Kill whatever pest rocks your boat, and bowhunting is the choice of some. & as long as they do their best to kill as humanely as possible & dont expect priority or undermine structured pest control work, fine.
Not personally choosing to use bows (attitude being the animals don't deserve it & can use a rifle) is not a reason to oppose those who choose to ethically. Extensive professional hunting variety, first hand experience of aerial shooting, many tons of poisoning and some dogging work has provided first hand interpretation of pros & cons. to actually achieve target results. & to validate or dismiss critics.
Cancelling techniques has real potential to compromise our native species viability, be it poison, traps, shooting or specific limited dog use. And rec hunters choices are also valid, gratuitous cruelty apart.
It seems very evident both pro and anti hunting (& methods) groups have a long way to go with cooperative objectivity, the similarities in their lobbying methods are often equivalent & amusing. Almost.

    • @johnmead8437

Falling into the trap of comparing techniques and trying to justify personal preferences is rife, gets emotional and facts get distorted. This clip exemplifies that. Some assertions are as invalid as some of those concerned with the ethics of bowhunting. Many hunting interests get as emotional and distorted as their opposers, & it damages their credibility.
Culling from a helicopter (& poisoning) is every bit as ethical as bowhunting, done effectively.

Anyone can miss. it happens. Minimised, & correcting as fast as expediently possible (e.g. a second shot, bow or firearm, but in some cases possible includes leaving awhile for animal to settle). Something to consider if jumping into criticisms of alternative methods without actual knowledge (social media reliability is for those unable to rationalise & need a crowd).
Hunt as soon as you are confident, & don't shoot until close enough for your skill level. Stalking close is much of the skill/interest involved, & don't let excitement cause a miss, waiting is ok..

I live in country South Australia. The majority of the ratbag youth have no access to wild animals. They live in suburbs with less than 200m2 backyards. If anything, if there are youth terrorising animals, it’s be domestic animals. Sooo far removed from bow-hunting or hunting in general. It’s just a lame grasp at some sort of valid excuse to ban hunting.
