In the case of ethanol gaining 2 atoms of hydrogen, where is the hydrogen atoms coming from , since there is no additional reactant in the reaction,

Thanks so much for your observation, the hydrogen atoms are coming from reducing agents such as LiAlH4 or NaBH4, I forgot to mention it as I did in the case of acidified KMnO4/K2CrO7.
