Awesome. Gunna have a crack at making a water oil burner. Just tryna find the blueprints or understand how it works before I rangi mine up
You can do it!
Great job. Ive been trying to come up with ideas for a burner so im gonna go with this. Thanks for posting..
Looks good ! But things can go bad VERY FAST . Now make a turbo oil heater by sucking in more air Yes you can used it for a hot water tank too. with coils of copper tubing with water running threw it
Hi mate, did you ever make up a coil for heating water? I'm keen to do pretty much the same thing but keen to see if it's been done before with a burner like this. Nice job on the build!
Hi there, I'm doing really well with different ideas, even the failures I've been able to fix. I have fitted a adjustable air vent on the burning chamber, works great. The water heater is up and going but still in testing before before I install in the house. I'm making a small heater for a caravan to be outside and heat ducted inside with 12v fan.. Having trouble making it small enough,, and getting it to tune and burn well
+Paul Eastham I would really like to see your setup paul, do you have a TH-cam vid of it????
+Paul Eastham I am looking to make something on theses line but only small I am hoping to use the small gas cylinder from my co2 welder, thanks for showing yours, cheers, Pete
great build ,how slow can you run this ? like what is the best less oil use for the slowest burning ?
It depends on a lot of things, such as oil type, oil thickness, cold oil, warm oil. you need to have a valve to adjust the flow. you could just trickle the oil in to just keep it going but would lose optimum heat, to much flow and it will start to smoke. You can add a fan to force air into the burn pot, and this really gets the heat up, but I wanted to use no electricity. I have not tried a certain type of oil only waste oil, and that could of had transmission, brake fluid and engine oil mixed, I get it for free so I didn't really care how much it used, but my burner uses about 4 ltr an hour for optimum heat. I did use vegetable oil a few times and that was great, smelt like a fish and chip shop. but people around my area pay the business owner for it, they obviously are using it for Bio fuel of some sort.
+slipery mud thanks , i think its great without any electricity , great way to heat
Nice bit of Kiwi handiwork.
Nice work. I miss the old kiwi accents living here in Oz! Do you know if the chimney pipe size is important in a drip feed burner?
+antony wardle I believe the bigger the pipe and higher the pipe the better the fire.. accent ! i don't have an accent cuz only poms and Americans have those..
@@slipperymud lol, several years ago I went to NZ and the people I was staying with said I had an accent, I didnt think I did.
Nice work mate. Can you aproximate the surface that you are using to heat it? And from what exterior temp? I will do something similar anyway but I am just courious. Where I live in the winter temp drops to -10, -20 degrees C and I need to warm up my 80 square meters workshop at at least 10-15 degrees.
Thank you in advance.
+SuperMadcox Well I have a three bay shed with no doors on it, so two bays and the one its in is a workshop, with no doors, what i mean is that it has no front wall, like a hay shed , workshop . the temperature here can get to -10 and It allows me to work out in the shed in winter. if the place was covered in like a house was, it would easily heat a home of approx 220 SqM.
Seems like a safe way to light her up. Put a hole in the side near the bottom , use outside air for the fire pot ., I just used a piece of down spout . No sense letting the inside air go up the flue ( it will such cold air from outside into your shed/home if you don't )
Very Cool to see a Kiwi Bloke Build, what ive been looking at on you tube, for months, ive just started building one the same been collecting the bits & pieces to build it for the last year,& after watching this video, fired me up to get started,
awesome idea works well
Hey mate just building one atm 1 question how did u manage to cut the 6inch hold? My lpg tank is 7mm thick and tips
Hi I used a grinder and cutting blades
Great burner. I need to make one of these with my powerarc welder for the shop.
cool heater mate, what diametre is the burner pipe ,did you enlarge the hole in the disc rotor
yes cut the middle out of the disc rotor 6" oil pipe
u will make more effect with ventilator.
I really like your simply design,, I'm doing a small one the same as yours for heating water only. Thanks for your info,, have a great day and say Hi to the chooks, lol
Paul Eastham I have changed the bottom door now as it needs to suck oxygen in , so make sure you have a air inlet which can be adjusted or you could use a fan of sorts.
@@slipperymud Hi there Slippery,, well it's a few years on and how warm is your shed this winter?
I have made a few small ones and all is good.. A small one to do the hot water and I have plans for a larger one for the house heating.
I have made my burners along the same line as this one, it works very well. I hope you are well and doing fine.

@@pjetenere1 Hi there Paul, well a month after I had made the oil burner the local government ban waste oil burning in our region because of emissions , which put a stop to me implementing it into the shed, but it works just as well with wood. I have it installed to work on both oil and wood, if I need too, and do crank it up every now and again. just watching your Vid now. looks great.
I heat my house with wood an now I'm considering adding one of these too
So a year down the road how does it still perform? any major changes? also ever try sticking a crucible in the top chamber to try and melt some aluminum?
+FueledBy RedBull Yes a few changes , such as it needs adjustable air flow coming into it on the bottom door, i will post a new vid soon of the finished product.
It would differently melt aluminium, but it would more than likely need air pumped into it with a compressor or fan of some sorts to get the heat up, this was built to be off grid.
Nice. What if you line the inside of the upper chamber with fire brick. Hold some of the heat in for a more efficient burn
Great to see that inplix has new instructions to save my money and energy to build it.
Hay Shantell, im glad i could help. This would be more friendly for the environment with diesel or fish'n'chip oil. This was just a test. Let me know if you need any help developing your burner.
pure awesomeness my friend!
Awesome to me!
Mate that's very well done, great project.
Gh
Mate,... That was 127ml of Kero ;)
David Yummus lol yeah shat myself when it went boom.
shot bro! Awesome work
That's awesome! Well done
What size pipe do you use for the chimey?
6 inch
Cheers , have made one of these burners, but getting black smoke, but only have 4 inch chimney, have now got chance to fit 7 inch, will that solve the problem?
@@derekjamesjackson3670
black smoke has more to to with not enough air intake, its not getting hot enough to burn all the oil, you may need to experiment with maybe a fan to force air into the burn chmber or make more air holes in your bottom burn cavity. or slow your oil infeed, so it gets time to gasify it.
Thanks, will try some more air holes
1:56 hahahah awesome bro
Nice Job Sir.
Yrii.
You dont pump air into it?
underhover69 No I wanted it to work with no power what so ever. But yes that would give you greater temps if you did.
Lol another 'burn your shed/house down' when you turn your back on it special......after seeing one of this drip type oil stove burn down a shed on the West Coast in 2009 i do have to wonder why people still build them
Yip they are dangerous, never leave this type of burner unattended, it works just as good with wood tho.
I wanted a waste oil burning boiler that i could leave unattended so i built this th-cam.com/video/kh8E_dAM3Yo/w-d-xo.html
Yes iv seen yours and it looks great, but it doesn't run off grid. , as i wanted mine too do. mines basic but cheap, never to be used as a main heat source unattended.! as the drip method is very dangerous.
with a little creative thinking this guys control system could be altered run off-grid on a burner like your one that doesn't need a fan.
