    One thing I forgot to explain in the video is that the base of the reservoir MUST BE ON THE SAME LEVEL AS THE TOP OF THE SPIRAL to have enough flow for a large flame.
    Uma coisa que eu esqueci de explicar no vídeo é que a base do reservatório PRECISA FICAR NO MESMO NÍVEL DO TOPO DO ESPIRAL para ter um fluxo suficiente para uma chama grande.

    Of all I've seen, this burner works the best for my situation. Very nice. Your added foot note was my first question, answered. One thing I noticed is that if starting with a coiled tube, it is important to completely straighten it before attempting these bends. My first attempt is quite sloppy compared to yours but it works great. The only drawback being that if fuel is still in the can after a burn, it will drip from the hole in the loop, So I either have to empty it or store it at a slant. My second attempt was a tad tougher as the tubing was thinner and not willing to bend without kinking. So I went the sand route and put the wick in later...just not all the way around the loop. It worked much better. Thanks for this technique. It's a good one.

    The solder may not have sealed the joint, because it's clear that the soldering iron was primarily heating the solder, not the joint. Always heat the metal until the solder flows and wets it without it touching the soldering iron.

      These are not working methods, the easiest way is to wind a spring made of steel wire on top, or put on any other spring of the appropriate size, it will not allow the tube to break, this is what some novice air conditioner installation specialists do. These springs are sold where the tubes are

    Although in is pinch, these are clever, and could save your life in the time of need. I will recommend that two "back-flow" devices be installed on each leg. There is adjustable PSI that can be adjusted down to (0.1 PSI) or get the preset check valve units... These types of stoves love to back flow causing a gassed off explosion and often times leaving folks with horrible burns, and in some cases, left dead. The reason for such, is in the event that one leg/tube gets plugged from foreign materials, and the other leg/tube is still feeding the gassed off fuel oil and if you ever hear the flame roar go full throttle and double and triple in sound and size, you have about a minute to stop the flame, before the wicking action of the remaining leg/tube being gassed off internally causing a chain reaction of what is remaining and will splatter the remain fuel oil out of the holding vessel lid or no lid, now can ignite all of that... A glass of water on stand by to pour on the flame to put the flame out and to cool the leg/tube will prevent this run away... Good luck, I enjoyed the video.

      @@Br1cht Well, clearly, you have never had a 3rd degree burn before. or had to take care of somebody who has. Brother, as macho as you just tried to come off as, as if being burned by spraying oils, is just not that big of a deal, lets say if your arm is burned my oil that is flamed, the amount of open wound to allow infection in, with in 4 hours, is a very serious deal, people all over the world die from this. as their is nothing there to seal your tissue away from airborne junk, and no blood supply to try and heal the wound, it is just muscle tissue open to collecting junk. But, you do you buddy. I do not wish anybody ever have to deal with burns from oil. it is a horrible way to live, as most wish they would have just died due to all the complications and can take years, if they survive. A video showcasing a "CLEVER" way to light or heat a small space for what ever reason, perhaps, even SHTF gameshow, that is a really bad idea, compared to other methods that are 100 times safer. just saying... The idea that you are okay with people learning this method of oil lamping, with out a warning of explosions from gas backing, well, good luck with that. As per me being a Yank, YES, and I am damn proud of it. I have been is 27 country's of the 193 or 197 or how ever many there is, I LOVE my country, and no other country can measure up to the USA.

    Great project but watching the soldering was painful! Touching the iron for only a second at a time simply won't heat the joint enough, resulting in lumpy cold solder joints which will eventually leak. Keep the iron at the joint and let the solder wet and flow into the tin can. Keeping the iron for as long as it takes won't hurt anything. I would use a 100W iron to guarantee the temperature stays hot as the can and copper tubing easily conduct the heat away from the area to be soldered.

    Если затушить огонь подув на него, то все равно нагревшийся медная трубка начнет давать спиртовые газ с сильным выходом через отверстие, думаю это отверстие надо заглушить спичкою, или же на место отверстие надо припаять медный кран, а из него должен выходить напор огня, тогда этот спиртогаз будет завершон, как нагревательная плита.

    • @XaLi_GaLi
      @XaLi_GaLi ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Увы, спиртогаз, после задувания пламени будет выходить лишь несколько секунд, ибо вся эта система работает на постоянном нагреве небольшой части змеевика медной трубки, то есть спирта. Точно так же работает обычная паяльная лампа на бензине, нет нагрева сопла - нет сильного напора пламени(как при её разжигании). Правда, там ещё играет роль нагрев топлива в бачке лампы для поддержки его давления для форсунки. Но это взаимный процесс, а накачка насосом это лишь для запуска этого процесса. А здесь-же, "бачок" без давления и нагрева, и обе эти составляющие заменяет фитиль. Вся температура лишь в области горения, которая быстро упадёт при затухании. Автор продемонстрировал это ладонью. Всё просто ...

      Thera are many other videos without using Wick...i think the wicks only porpuse is to being able to start the flame easier.... Otherwise ,you have to heat up the piping with a blow torch to start evaporate the fuel ..... Also works with veggie oil...

      Claro que sim! É prático, barato, portátil, tem um desempenho extraordinário, mas sempre tem o risco dele engolir fogo e se ter um incêndio. Nesse tipo de reservatório como é aberto só fogo sem explosão.

      no, that's not dangerous, it's dangerous when you do it with a sealed container, for example a glass canning jar with an iron screw cap, that's dangerous (no) as long as there's no oxygen inside, it doesn't explode, as long as the wick sits tightly in the tube, the flame doesn't pass inside

    An excellent instructive video without any superfluous talking. BUT it you need to specify your fuel. People may want to try it with water - petrol, parrafin, kerosene, or alcohol - and the results could be dangerous.

    As a idea only. Could it be made with no holes in tank and have it outside, run a siphon tube from a tank outside so it automatically refills.

    I made the same one a long time ago, only in a HERMETIC glass jar with a screw cap, the cap is steel, I soldered a copper tube into it, the distance from the bottom of the spiral to the cap itself is about 2 cm, it is literally very close to the jar, the jar is 200 ml, the ends of the tube are 5 cm, very compact, but it is more dangerous, because the jar must be screwed tightly, there is pressure there! If the wick is soaked too much inside the tubes, it can spray very loudly when trying to light it, but if the wick does not sit there very freely, everything is ok, the wick should be made of asbestos or miniral cotton wool, but so that it is soaked as well as ordinary cotton wool, this is important. Ordinary cotton wool will burn close to the spirals. The main point of this burner is compactness, you literally have a 200 ml glass jar and a 4 cm spiral on top on 2 cm legs, it takes up less space than a propane cylinder for camping, gives strong pressure (if you move two turns incorrectly, the flame will either break off or overheat and go out) you need to set it up once and everything works fine, as well as a hole, I soldered a brass tube into it, this allowed me to change the diameter of the "nozzle" you can unsolder and solder a new one, the main thing is that the solder does not clog the tube. I measured the time it takes for a liter of water to boil - 7 minutes. alcohol consumption is 30 milliliters in 10 minutes. you also need to make a stand from an aluminum pipe, it should not touch the lid so as not to overheat it, this is an important part, since a lot of heat is lost at the edges, a pipe with a diameter of 60-70 mm around the spiral will collect heat, it is convenient to put dishes on the end of this pipe if you cut its end and bend it to the sides. This burner also allows you to heat a small steel part until the turns orange, you can solder it, a truly universal thing, except that it does not give off light

    Do you have to change the string often ?
    Or only if it runs dry and burns ?

    • @fireguardburnt
      @fireguardburnt ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the string is protected, being enclosed in the small pipe. The flame would have a hard time entering that small outlet hole.

    • @slipdagger2350
      @slipdagger2350 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Isopropyl alcohol will work but it smells bad and has a lot of water in it. Methyl alcohol works better and is available everywhere as Heet fuel additive. You can also find denatured alcohol at most hardware stores.
      The string needs to be cotton or fiberglass. Something that wont melt.

      If you make independent loops the pressure is independent in each, however if you make several loops and holes to one coil, the pressure will drop

    This is clearly an ingenious design. I've made the version that sits on top of a mason jar. BUT, for the life of me, I simply cannot find a viable use for it. It doesn't heat my room at all. If I want to use it to boil water, a cat can stove is infinitely simpler to create, to use, to store, ... everything. Please, what applications is this burner better than simpler options?
