An absolutely game changing tip for me. It delivered everything you said it would I gained distance and a consistent draw. My ball striking was pure and effortless . Videos on the range show I get the impact position I’ve been striving for. A less extreme version works brilliantly with my irons too. Thank you so much Alistair.
My golf has been awful this year, particularly the driver . I tried this yesterday at the range with a friend and good grief does it work ! The one thing I kept doing was picking up the club then coming over the top 😢😢 but this stopped it almost instantly with high draws and the odd hooks 😅 thank you can't wait to try it on the course. I did the same tip on my irons, but only a few inches to 6 inches depending on the length of clubs they all worked 💪 incredibly well. I have subscribed. Thank you once again
As a long term slicer with a driver, I would agree that this is one of the best tips that I have come across. Easy to visualise and to do. Simple is always best !Thanks Alistair.
OMG!!!! I tried this today as I was struggling with the driver lately. This drill is worth 10 lessons or more!!!!! I was hitting the ball straight and LONG, I easily added 30 yards to my drives, why the hell doesnt anyone else talk about this?????? This is easily the best tip I ever got and has done for my golf game than all the lessons i have taken combined. Thank you, Thank you, thank you!!!!
@@adaviesgolf Ok,I’ve tried Moes single plane swing with Todd Graves but I didn’t like it at all. I’ve been using the stack and tilt, weight forward, and I’m now having great success. However,I’ve been hitting my drives so low and your setup position,I believe, will really help me to hit a higher drive. Liking your channel, btw,my name is also Alastair. Thank you from Canada.
I have used your set up recommendation where the club is behind the ball 12 inches. As I recall, it did not feel strange at all and after viewing this video Alistair, I'm going to try it again. I do normally swing in to out anyway, so it should cause no problems! Good Job Alistair! Keep up the good work!!!
@@adaviesgolf I just revisited this video and found that I was setting the driver up more behind the ball rather than on an inside out swing path. I will be making the correction tomorrow with I'm sure, a positive outcome! Again Alistair, a great tip!
Thanks Alister I to have the over the top upper body downswing start, now with your set up shoulders facing slightly right you take your normal backswing ,(either arm swing or shoulder turn)please explain the how you think you are making your transition and downswing motion as this I would like to have in my mind when I get to the top
This actually works - pulling the driver head back a few inches so you actually hit up on the ball. I have been setting up with the head sitting next to the ball/tee, and could not get rid of my slice or sometimes taking out the tee under the ball. Another pro tip to help the inside out path - move your trail foot back a few inches (closed stance). 9 out of 10 times now, I carry the ball about 250 yards and have a slight draw.
Like the tip. My tip is don’t over grip the club. Woods in general. Don’t grip it too tight, causes over curve. That right there reduced my slice to a nice fade and hook to a nice draw. Dk what it does to the shaft and face but you can feel it in the hands keeps the ball from knuckling off the planet
Came to a weird theory along with my tip is how the club varies in stance ball position, so does grip pressure. Say a chip shot that you want firmer wrist firmer hands not really a lot of hinge etc all the way up to the driver I think the grip pressure also coincides with that. Depending on what type of shot of course I do tend to grip it a slightly bit firmer if I’m trying to fade the ball more than draw. But the clubs with the big heads on them I don’t think do what they’re supposed to do if you over tighten your grip, you won’t have any feel in that club through impact. Atleast for me I feel like driver and woods when I’m holding it correctly I feel compression and the club actually wrap the ball if you’re holding too tight I feel it’s always a glancing blow no matter what
I set up this way to get my low point behind the ball. I have a tendency to hit down on the ball if I address it with my clubhead right behind the ball.
I tried this during my last game halfway through my round and wow! I hit several drives way beyond my usual 210 yards and managed over 260 on one occasion. It got rid of my hook, a serious fault of mine. Can't wait to try it again tomorrow.
@@follyfour506 are you topping your driver? This isn't the fix for it. It's most likely an incorrect stance, and/or not shifting your weight in transition.
Wide stance, starting 12 inches behind the ball, single plane swing and the finish with the club. This is Moe Norman's Single Plane Swing. Give credit to the man from Canada. Todd Graves of Graves Golf teaches this swing with clear explanations.
Not a single plane swing, always credit Moe Norman with my start back drill not my slight start back address because he was much further back and higher handle
Cheating is a strong word. There nothing wrong or "illegal with a golfer using that set up of starting the club, 6 inches behind the ball, why do you say its a cheat.?
Thanks for watching probably the best driver swing video ever
Thank you Alistair. Excellent tip. 👍
Thanks 🙏

Not only a great tip but it's also effective, tks...
Thanks
Playing this am. Will give this a try.

That’s very interesting,Moe Norman always set up the driver head behind the ball
Yep that’s what inspired me years ago to experiment with it

Wonderful easy tip thank you.
Thanks
I will definitely give it a try. I still think your “low hands” swing thought (Justin Rose) is the best ever!
Yep I love that too
I’m looking forward to trying this. I’m curious why you would go back to the old way if this improved your driving. Thank you.
Thanks
Great tips

Let your lower half move laterally and keep back facing target longer
Many thanks will give it a go.
Will give it a try

Do you do the same gor irons?
You can do, it will help hit from inside but won’t help low point. So it depends what you need

Do you look at the ball or the spot on the ground where the club is starting?
Either if find but I would try ground first
I set up this way to get my low point behind the ball. I have a tendency to hit down on the ball if I address it with my clubhead right behind the ball.
Yep ideally for that
Moe Norman did this and he did not just place the club back he actually turned it into that starting position
Yes you have to turn the body into that position to make it work
I been doing this with my Driver and hitting the ball great, but irons different story. Would this work with the irons shots
Hi yes but would possibly keep shoulders square but try both

Start behind the ball and FINISH behind the ball!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, where is the club facing? Square to the target line or to the new swing path direction line.
At set up the target but can be adjusted if hooks come, but drill ideal for slicers so feed what we need
Mo Norman.
Eyes looking at ground 6" behind ball?
Yep try it and move around to suit
Awesome
Thanks 🙏
Is that also good for Iron?
Yep good for club path but less for angle of attack
Yeah, this works. I set up with the club head six inches behind the ball as a rule.
Good luck
Does it stop topped shots . It's crept into my game recently and I can't stop it.

Cool
Worked for Norman, works for Rahm, but did absolutely nothing for me unfortunately
Make sure you take your body and eye line with the start back
This is what Rahm does.
Yep 👍

Because it’s not orthodox, it’s a technique cheat
