We are Heather, Bradey, Alexa and Chloe. We purchased an abandoned stone barn in the foothills of the Italian Alps and we are working together as a family to renovate and restore this old stone barn into our dream home.
I think you have won a massive amount of respect from the local craftsmen because you roll up your sleeves & work beside them in every stage of your project.
100%
An apprentice.
ooo... I wonder.... could he "qualify" some how?
They have made friends for life.
Great young couple.
Braviiiii
The way it should be. A lot of lessons to be learned by our youths. Especially some of the privileged ones who aren't taught this. How to be unselfish and give back. I thought this same thing about the workers.
You have put heart & soul into this & worked with the Italian craftsmen every step of the way & becoming so good, learning along the way. I love my Sunday night fix of your videos. Thank you, well done & keep posting. Love from Johannesburg South Africa 💖💖💖
never in my wildest dreams did ever think that watching concrete been poured could be so exiting.
I’ve been thinking exactly the same thing for months!
Yep! Quite impressed here! Concrete is over $150 a yard now in GA, USA. I freaked when it went from $25 to $30 a yard years ago! We call it Grey Gold!
Exciting.
@@lakesidesusan6745 Oh! Lord! That is a LOT! (How thick/deep?).
Me too!!! Riveting. Isn't it crazy!? And I was hurting for them... those poor bodies!! I bet they slept well.
Never seen such a skilled build in all my 60 yrs so lucky to be in an area where the skills have not yet died out 😊 it is fascinating to watch the methods and end results as stunning as the outside is can't wait to see the inside taking shape too 👍💪💪💪 and hands up to the guys working with you in all that weather 👍
Couldn’t have said it better myself
I was just about to make nearly the same comment!
The tradesmen we've had in our house (Piemonte) have always been of the utmost professionalism and quick too. One gave me a pretty high bid on some tiling on bathroom walls. I thought he was trying to stiff me and I took a shot at it myself. He was right. The wall needed to be replastered and the job was worth what he was bidding. I tried to get him back but he took offense that I questioned his judgment and another guy fixed my screwed up work.
The flip side of this efficiency can be found in the Italian bureaucracy. They view the citizens' time as free and make you queue up endlessly and then require all kinds of useless documents/data. My theory is that it is to give the illusion of adding value.
👍
I agree with John Tomlinson. As soon as your weekly notification appears, I open the video. I love every minute viewing the progress made in a week. I will be sad when it's finished. What a labor of love...❤❤❤
Wow, thank you!
I also agree. I wish you could do more per week. Any chance that will ever happen?
I wish but just way too much going on right now, maybe someday
We understand. Lots to do. We all wait and enjoy your videos. I am from South Africa. ❤❤❤
I also count the days from this video till the next. Love love love watching in awe.
Oh my the terrace view is stunning! Love the terrace...please tell the craftsmen that the world is watching their craftsmanship 💖💖💖💖Seattle washington USA
I agree with Janice. In Morton Washington, I am so anxious to see the video come Su day morning!
I totally agree, from Massachusetts, USA
And from México. Bravo!
Italians are very hard workers and also skilled. I am a descendent of them and can't wait to visit Italy.
Watching from England
I love how the coffee break on the worksite is freshly brewed coffee and served in ceramic cups! ❤☕️
That is the Italian way!!!!
Yup!
I can't believe how everything is coming along. You have become a true craftsman. Even though you have hired workmen you are in there with them making sure everything is good. Well done Brady!
I so look forward to your videos. When the notification pops up I click it immediately. Your genuineness and passion are inspiring. What amazing life lessons your daughter’s are learning.
Yay! Thank you!
Most impressive and very humbling, thank you for the journey ❤
In the 40+ years that I've been employed in construction, I've wheeled concrete up ramps, down ramps, pumped it, or even carried it in 5 gallon buckets up ladders, but I had never seen a wheelbarrow with a frame to lift it with a hoist.
You've got a real specialized crew of masons there.
The rain, the rock, the mud, all I can say is, God love you all, ugh... That is really hard work. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
You and your wife have so much enthusiasm ! She and you are always smiling :))))))
Just got home from church, got the kids and grandkids coming over for lunch. Changed clothes and sat down expecting to see another video and was not disappointed. Love your work ethic and the wonderful home you are building for your family. Keep up the good work, and God bless!
Brady & Heather, you have amassed an incredible team of workers that I'm sure have quickly become part of your Italian family. I love to watch each Sunday edition of your videos & am so thankful that you have chosen to record & share the process with us.
Happy trails.
I would love one day for you or Heather or all of you to take us to the villages below and show us around….even at school pickup! I know everyone wants to see your building but you are ..Raising Voyagers!
I've asked that in the past,I don't think they're interested in doing that.
Some family routines should be private. I respect them for protecting their children.❤
I would live to see the area too!
@@tripletgirl2484 not sure if your new to this channel but their children have been in all their videos when they traveled everywhere before the Italy stone house and have been at the stone house all the time except now since it’s a busy worksite.
As an Italian living in USA I am very proud of those craftsman skills and talents. Good job brady
Brady those men certainly know their onions in their trade and craft and I think you have earned their massive respect for you as you are working just as hard as they are and not afraid to work and work along side them . Heather is so excited. You can see that you all were exhausted at the end of laying that cement terrace, enjoy your well earned week end off and rest. This has been absolutely amazing to watch and the stone addition is magnificent.
What a team of very young Italion workmen foreman and "gaffer" an absolute credit to their profesion well done all of you
Every week you come closer to a vision you had long ago. I can see.. you will have a wonderful life here in your new home. Great joys await you. A blessed future and an abundance of Love and Laughter. 💕
And on we go...
Seeing the foldable tape measure reminds me of my late father, a builder, back in the 70s and early 80s before the retractable tape measures really became the norm. I love watching these men at work. They are very talented!
The quality work on your build is solid. These guys are excellent. I love watching this solid structure go up.
A couple of the other homesteading/building channels I follow: Maya (I think she might be German or Swiss) in Portugal and Todd and Taylor in Canada (they're Canadian) have had a little or a lot of trouble with the work of their contractors and builders. It's wonderful to see that you're able to find such quality help in a country so far from home. It can be scary finding reliable help at home where you have command of the language and customs. And you have such a great attitude, as do your local helpers. Beautiful.
You need to make a Calendar highlighting all those wonderful craftsmen who have worked on your home. Including your family. Sell it on your channel.
I’ve been checking for your new video since I woke up early this morning. It’s an important part of my Sunday morning reverie.
Brady is becoming a master's apprentice. I can see him easily finding work in this trade once your house is done.
Looks like he's doing all the Grunt work though, He's paying them, right? Still great job Brady, you'll be proud when it's done.
So funny
@@DeborahKEgolf All of them are working really hard.
@@DeborahKEgolf I think it's clear that he's doing a lot of the grunt work and probably rightly so. He's learning and probably earning their respect by jumping in and doing what needs to be done.
You’re really progressing and it’s lovely to see their workmanship of Italian men and yourself. I hope it will stop raining so you could have some nice sunny warm days while you’re working on your homestead . Brady, you’re becoming an expert in making espresso coffee, which I truly believe that the workers appreciate it.
Very impressive. Your hard work will pay off. I cannot wait to see your terrace come to life. You will have a work of art when you are completely finished with your home.
A home that will last forever
You should encourage the guys working with you to start their own TH-cam channel. I would LOVE to see all the other projects they do there in Italy.
What unbelievable progress! I am in disbelief that only 3 men mixed and hand poured those huge concrete walls! I would definitely be cloister phobic removing the forms. What a Beautiful home your family is creating & I never hear complaints 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
I don’t know what’s more incredible - the workmanship or the hard work!! Wow. Just wow!
What incredibly heavy and arduous work. My body is screaming at me just watching you all work!
You are…..amazing, persistent, resilient, incredibly quick to master new skills…..God Bless you and your family!💕
I started watching as soon as I had my coffee in hand. I felt like I needed a nap when it was over. You all are such hard workers!
Amen to your comment!
You make the ideal Builder's Apprentice - Not afraid of hard work, ready to learn and take instruction, and do more than your share.
So beautiful!! I must admit that each time you walk backwards with the wheelbarrow near the edge, my heart skips a beat - week - I wish there was a railing!!
The Turkish inspiration for your terrace is going to be breathtaking with your incredible views.
The terrace looks AMAZING!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🌻🎶🏡🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Sunday mornings, cup of coffee, in front of the TV waiting for your video. Already looking awesome, letting my imagination out there thinking what would I do if that was my balcony hum, first thing comes to mind is a jacuzzi. Saluti a tutti voi da Miami
Уea, and Brady`s making coffee in this kettle is so appetised
Brady, you and the crew are true Roman's! They built the roads and aqueducts! True, slave labor but when the Roman army were told to do something else besides war, they were builders! A shout out to you Sara, and these Roman men assisting you!
The space outside your bedroom would make a greate greenhouse space. So that it can be used both as a sitting area and a greenhouse all year round. Pluss the winter sun would also be a source of heat as passive solar has been a forgotten technology in the modern world. Imagine the smell of roses and fruits that travel through the house. I personally like Wisteria grapes which bloom 3 times a year. The purple color so beautiful. Your idea with the rugs would still work with the green space. Soon I am going to build my dream cottage of stone and glass. So I can bring the outdoors inside so I can enjoy all year round.
The valley you guys live in is absolutely beautiful. Always love the long shots of it, keeps me daydreaming of an escape to Italy. Love the prgress on your home, its really starting to come together.
Hello from Greece. I am contractor and salute the brothers of arms there 😅. Nice work.
Watching your family and all the hard work takes me back to my early years raising our children. They were some of the hardest times but also the best memories. I see you all enjoying the fruits of your labours Enjoy every day.
Now that you are at the point of so much exciting developments please would you consider putting out TWO VIDEOS A WEEK as you will have so much to show. Loving your terrace.
I would love that also. This is my favorite channel right now. What a dream coming true.
This process has been so fun for us, too. It is going to be so fun to see it decorated. Keep the videos going.
That view from the terrace is incredible! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
Wow!! Such an honour seeing such hard working diligent men. All working together forming a magnificent team. I learn so much. Thank you.
Hi there, on a Sunday it's my TH-cam day. Then after church and Lunch I sit and waiting for all my TH-cam family's to start!! Whoop-whoop so nice to see all the progress, hard work and amazing views.

It is raining and “we are not letting us get it down”…love that you are mixing in the Italian sentence structure with English … I am studying Italian and I do the same thing … and like you said, I also forget English words and now am misspelling English words … ah la lingua Italiana è bella!
I love watching you work with the contractors! Your knowledge is incredible, I hope your work is saving you some money. Your family is super blessed to have you!❤❤
Forgot to mention... Brady, I LOVED watching you share coffee using the wheel barrel!! That was a great idea and brought a great smile to my face for such a coool way of showing hospitality to your co-workers.😁😁 I miss Expresso in Italy! Must get myself one of those!
It’s a Bialetti. Very inexpensive for what it does.
I am loving this phase of construction! We are seeing the final look take shape. Super exciting!
Come end of the day you must not fall asleep as literally pass out !?! You and your wife and girls have the most beautiful location for your home ! So looking forward to the end of construction celebration ! ps Thank you for your very informative narratives ! MUCH appreciated !
An insane amount of hard work, i applaud your drive, makes for very entertaining videos too
I love how everything comes together. You have come along ways. I have been watching from the beginning.
I am another viewer who waits anxiously for every video from you. I can't believe how hard you are working to make your house a home!! I'm sure it is taking a toll on your physical statis! But you are still young enough to take it I guess. I can't wait to see the finished product!! So exciting!!
The progress is incredible, and the terrace is really going to be an amazing living space! I am 57 and can no longer imagine working this hard...hats off to all of you! Being a stone mason in Italy would either make a man or a mouse out of you! Thank you for posting...love seeing the progress every Sunday. Mark, Kiel, Wisconsin USA.
I enjoy having coffee with you with my Sunday mornings, thank you
All of you deserve a minivacation to rest your weary bones and muscles! I shared this with my husband and he's in awe of all of you working together with such stamina in the rain!!! Amazing team! Looking forward to seeing the terrace completed! Thank you Heather for your work on this video - you do a wonderful job creating these ! Best wishes to your girls. 💜💜
Love how you keep your crew in espresso, just like they like it.
Good job Brady... it's amazing how you roll up your sleeves & work beside the local craftsmen the whole day long! I bet the guys just love your coffee service!
Here is some interesting information. Roman Concrete was not always poured wet. It was left somewhat dry in the mix. What would happen is that if the concrete were to crack, water would seep into the cracks saturating the dry mix. This in turn would straighten the structure without having to tear it all down. A very clever idea for areas prone to earthquakes.
What a well-oiled machine you guys are when pouring concrete! And the fact that all these craftsmen are willing to do as much as you are, not taking advantage of you. Viewers get to see that there are still people that take pride in their work AND work hard to achieve the best they can!!! Bravo!
Absolutely remarkable how well this crew works together. And those views!!!! Blessed and lucky you are….
I look forward to your videos every Sunday! The work you’re doing on your new home is amazing and it’s so helpful to have the skilled tradesmen helping you. Looking forward to the finished project.
The terrace is stunning.
Love your enthusiasm and the fact that both of you keep smiling even when thing aren't so easy ❤
Brady you are one the hardest work men I have seen. I have been watching your program from the start. I was glad to see you hire help to do the stone work and concrete patio. Look forward to your vid next week
Hi guys, tis me from the UK - keep up the stunning level of skilled work :)
That will make a fabulous family sleeping terrace….to gaze at the stars!
Only one minute in and I’m enjoying it already 😊
Your dedication & hard work deserves massive respect. Brady I bet you sleep good at nite!
The 180 views from your terrace are amazing. I live in Italy with great views, but yours are the best. 😉👍
Great progress.
The top and bottom rebar mat took me back to my youth!
Decks gonna be absolutely lovely! Well done indeed.
I love it when the guy says " very good " 👍
Oh lordy, how I ache for all of you!!! THAT was some CRAZY HARD WORK!!! I'll bet every one slept like babies. Man. I am so impressed. That was quite a journey this week. Bravo, bravi, bravissimo!
I absolutely LOVE watching the house coming along, and seeing how these things are done. That terrace is going to be a dream!
It’s too bad that not more people on the internet know about your channel, I think it just might be the best channel out there today. Right now, watching you all do the stone work is not only interesting but amazing also. I want a stone house now too but I live in SW Florida. Haha. I am Roman Catholic and I have a habit that every time I pass in front of a church or if I hear church bells ringing, I make the sign of the cross. Whenever watching your videos, I am constantly making the sign of the cross ✝️. Hahaha. One last note, where have the kids been? You are documenting your life so the kids should be there every step of the way also. Take care and God Bless your family and your workers. ❤️
Batista seems like he’d be fun to work with. Always bringing a laugh to each video.
What an Italian work of art your place will be when completed, but the process is also artful, nice to see the process in action ❤
It's really inspiring to see how much effort you put along with your team and the bonding you share with them is superb like a family , the view was fantastic and as always, thanks for making my Sunday special
The local craftmans that you found have been doing such a great job, and I am sure that they appreciate that you just get in there and work right along with them, not to mention how greatful they must be for the coffees.
You sure are getting your moneys worth out of that mixer! The rebar lacework is solid 💪🏻! Love the locals appreciation of your coffee making skills! 🤣🥰
Heather, you look fabulous in that plum colour!!!
I am getting so excited. This work is beautiful and Brady, you will soon be a master!
What a pleasure to watch you work. It's like a perfectly choreographed orchestra. Well done!!
or an orchestrated choreograph ;)
Oh Brady! Your back, your back your BACK!! And your shoulders! You totally deserve some R & R! Beautiful terrace & LOVE the Turkish rug seating idea! Awesome guys!💞💫💖🌈🎑✌
oh Brady, I loved the coffee going up in the wheelbarrow, good move!
Quel travail, c’est incroyable ce que vous accomplissez avec ces bâtisseurs autour de vous, et en prime toujours ce merveilleux sourire de Madame. Vous méritez le plus grand respect. Un immense bravo.
Whew! Finally goggles! As a nurse, I felt like a child watching a horror movie through my fingers when the dust & sparks were flying (at the beginning of the post). Heather does a fabulous job editing & I enjoy her choice of music! I look forward each week to “experience” your progress! You both are stellar troopers! Carry on……(Charlotte, NC, USA)
I can hardly imagine how exhausted you must be! What a feat! You are amazing, Bradey, Heather and fellow craftsmen. You will have such a sense of satisfaction when the house is complete and you get to enjoy a wine on the terrace gazing at that view. ❤
When you complete your house it will be the safest home and most expensive one in the area.👍❤️😃
You have an amazing crew!
It's amazing to see how far you guys have come, Brady much respect to you, you work incredibly hard.
Spectacular view of the village.
I’m so grateful for all you hard working men willing to do this kind of amazing work.
You guys are working so hard and that rain makes it miserable. You are doing an incredible job.
The talent of the local craftsmen is amazing. You are such a quick study. YOUR talent is also amazing!
Alabama, USA
You've definitely earned your stripes on the work there. I've worked and help numerous professionals on many different residential type projects, and I have never seen such any one, pro or amateur, put as much into the job!
Your terrace is going to be beautiful! Perfect spot for a hot tub 😁. I don’t know how you do it Brady….my back hurts just watching. Hello from North Bay Ontario 🇨🇦
I love your home, I love the place. The town, church bell, hills, the valley, snow covered mountain, the cold weather. Perfect. They say, ' your life could be someone else's dream.' Surely this is my dream. Love from Darjeeling.
The skillset and knowledge you have plus that which you are learning? Wow, wow, wow. You must be a gift to the workers you are helping!
Amazing level of coordination to bring all the materials together at the right time. Massive respect for the work you are putting into this and for the true artisans that you are working with.
I love what you are all putting together. After so much demolition and working on a 600-year-old structure, it is almost a change in mindset for me to see the construction process with modern additions and finishes starting to come into view. It's going to blend in seamlessly. You have a great crew to work with. Well done!
You so deserve your local folks who are artisan builders. So pleased for you all. Hoping summer arrives soon for you. 😀🎉💒
