- Five points clear in the 1994 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final with as many minutes to go, the players of Limerick looked certainties to end a 21-year drought and return home with the Liam McCarthy Cup. By the final whistle, they were broken men, unable even to collapse in despair on the turf for fear of being trampled underfoot by thousands of ecstatic Offaly fans swarming the pitch to celebrate an extraordinary turnaround.

It just shows a small county like Offaly .they won all Irelands ..they won in 1981 ,1985 ,1994,and 1998..alot of the media felt that Offaly didn't deserve those successes ..don't forget those years not too many counties contested ten provincial finals in succession from. 1980 to 1990.....Limerick may have taken a While to win an all Ireland but they are some outfit now .. and will be hard stopped now..that time you had Offaly ,Clare and Wexford making the breakthrough...lovely to see
Great day for the Faithful, Johnny Dooleys goal huge turning point. Offaly built up huge momentum after that & limerick couldn't stop them. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪

I'd go with that, as Limerick up to then had steamrolled everything in their path that season.

Was a tragedy that lads like Ciarán Carey, Gary Kirby, the Nashes, Mike Houlihan, Joe Quaid never won an AI.
Having said that, they were robbed by poor officiating in the 1996 final vs. Wexford so I don't feel so bad as an Offalyman.

Ok I accept ,Offaly probably not as strong ,but u could never beat the rivalry of offaly v Dublin,Offaly v laois,, Offaly v Wexford,Offaly v kilkenny..some brilliant clashes down the years..no disrespect to Galway but the Leinster championship is the Leinster championship..its up to croke park to sort out that mess with Galway.... Offaly will get there , it's taking time but if the younger players come in with the more experienced players it will come
