Holy shit, I love when I come upon a realization. I went under the car and noticed the axle boot had been off and covered in grease. If your turning left and hear the clicking noise its not the left side thats faulty. Its the right side. Just want to clarify. when turning to the left and hear clicking noise, its the right side, when turning right and hear the clicking noise, its the left side thats faulty.
Hi there, will it not be weird if you hear clicking sound from both turns, I mean either right or left turn, same clicking sound you can hear? Does that mean both cv axles are toast? I checked the boots and both look fairly clean and dry Thanks
I just want to mention that this clicking sound can also be coming from a worn strut. If the hydraulic from the strut loses its pressure for whatever reason. The coil spring from that side can start to slide and make a slight clicking noise only when your turning the wheel. You would have a slight pull to whichever side is damaged while driving and bad vibration at higher speeds and over bumps on the road. If the cv axle is worn or not pushed in completely allowing the c clip to catch it securely, or the c clip is worn, damaged or not present , you may hear a clicking noise from the bearings in the cup inner cv joint. I would also check tire pressure on both sides in front tires , compare and air evenly just to make sure the weight shift of vehicle is balanced. When moving vehicle in reverse and this clicking occurs doesn't rule out the worn hydraulic pressure but indicates this is more likely an inner cv joint issue not properly installed or with the c clip that secured it being the issue. If the clicking is from both sides , as you hear it turning left or right , yes it can be both sides and is not safe to drive . Whoever installed the cv joint on your vehicle did a poor job or incorrect or can just mean the cv joints need c clips or it's just that time to have it replaced. Many important factors will need to be considered because everything is caused by something else on a vehicle and it can get out of hand. Make sure you check all things needed before replacing parts and wasting time and money.
Thank you for that exactly what happened to my 2001 Honda Accord yesterday broke down on me on my birthday I told my daughter what it was and told my mechanic that exactly what it was you got to know your car and I'm 52 now
Here's a fun 1. I've got a clunk/thump when cornering, started only left turns now it don't matter. I've got new struts and new sway bar. Rods are a year old and cv axles are almost new I've visually inspected and there's no excessive wear that I can see. Steering wheel has slight feedback and I feel the thunk under my feet. Personally I suspect LCA bushings. But oem are 600 a side which makes it an expensive guess.
@@mrhyde0705 if your vehicles a front-wheel drive vehicle and this occurs while you're turning left or right may indicate a sign of low gear oil from transfer case. This gear oil is needed for when the vehicle is turning left or right on front-wheel drive cars as the inner tire for whichever way you're turning needs to turn more than the outer tire, and if the gear oil is low will cause the clicking sound from the transfer case.
I've just noticed my cv clicking/clunking when turning left on my 09 Ford Territory like 4 days ago. After talking with my partner about what cv's are actually for and the consequences involved with a guaranteed negative outcome for ignoring or putting off the problem, I've decided to start using my other car until I can save enough money to get the issue resolved. I'd rather use my pos jeep than potentially put myself and other road users at risk by driving an unsafe vehicle.
SOS Mini One Steering wheel-Scraping noise at low momentum- usually whilst reversing/moving out of, with wheel 3/4 to full lock. Slight scraping/scuffing sound and/or a clunk/thump when hits full lock. 🙏
Mine is clunking when changing gears, and there are vibrations when accelerating. It happens on lower speeds 20-30km/h. Both inner driver and passenger side have play in them so I'm changing whole axles soon.
Yes it does. Mine started doing that the other day and I took it straight to Midas and they confirmed what they had already seen during my inspection- my driver's axle shaft needs replacing at the tune of almost $600. I'd rather pay that than be in an accident.
So my 2015 Camaro LT is having a funny clunky noise when I turn. If I turn left I can hear it on my left side, if I turn right I can hear it on my right side. What can it be?
I hear more of a clunk noise and it almost seems if the car slips away a bit. I have only noticed this on full lock turns in slow corners, walking speed. Could this still be a CV joint issue?
I have noticed something similar: Full lock left turn, walking speed, clunking, feels as if the wheel was triangle shaped or something. Only noticed once a few weeks ago, too afraid to reproduce it :( Have you figured out what is on your car?
There is a click sound that appears when stopping or accelerating or when the transmission is placed on the R I am not sure if the problem is from the axes how do I make sure
when i turn right, i hear a clicking noise on the left side of the front of my vehicle. when i turn left, i dont hear anything. is it the left cv axle?
Yes. But if it makes noise even when driving straight it’s the inner cv joint and it can be hard to tell if it’s the left or right one. I just replaced my left and it turns out it was my right one…
i heard a loud thud when trying to turn left, when i stepped on the gas my car won’t move i tried reversing and it didn’t move at all? would this be a sign on broken cv axle?

I get a clunking sound when I turn in both directions, this happened the next day after driving my Discovery 4 through water, changed oil, no water in engine air filter/intake? Only happens when I turn the wheel and move and worse the closer to full lock. No sign of split boots, any ideas sir?

You’d hear engine knocking or sluggish acceleration if it was the spark plugs. You might also get a check engine light code warning you of misfiring. More than likely it’s the cv axles or wheel bearings and potentially even your engine or transmission mounts.

Hey I'm Dutch and I'm trying to find a term in English which I thought was the axle. My car makes this scraping sound on the left back wheel. First I thought it was the brakes, however I changed these and it doesn't solve the problem. Now if I grab the left back wheel with my hands and wiggle it around it moves a tiny bit in every direction whereas the back right wheel doesn't and i know it's not supposed to do that. I think it is the axle or whatever it's called because it had an accident on the left wheel side. I mean the rod thing that connects the 2 wheels together and supports the weight of the car on to the wheels. Anyone who can help me either help find the right term to search for or confirm it's probably the axle or whatever it's called? Thanks😅
Had a light bearing sound passenger side. Shortly later it became a lour clunking, shortly later i bust down, 3 out of 6 lug nuts torn off. Replace lower arm/ball/rod end, new bearing, new hub, still clunking again! The sound is coming from near the rotor. Double checked brakes. Ok. This cv axle was replaced 1 year ago under a recall> I ordered a new cv axle made in China. (what do i have to lose)? Is my manual trans axle shot? It doesn’t have to be leaking to be damaged. That just means that spot seems fine. But it could be damaged inside the transfer case.
What if you turn the steering wheel to the right and back up into a space or drive way and hear and feel the clicking noise?
