TEA DRUNK on a very special Gushu PuErh Tea - RESIN TEMPTRESS

  • This first-pluck Jinggu Gushu Sheng PuErh tea is an explosive session - brimming with a luxurious and adult character. From the heady smell of those leaves, through the thick mouthfeel, the rich taste and the structured finish - this is a very special tea. AND that tea drunk effect is up there with the potency of legendary mountains like Banzhang in my opinion.

This tea was an absolutely energizing experience. When Don says that you will want to sit there and smell the wet leaf for 20min.. he was not kidding at all. One of the best parts, is knowing how extraordinary this tea was, and anticipating the next time to experience it again. For the price, it is almost automatically reserved for special occasions, and the connection between the preciousness of this tea and the occassion that was deemed special enough for this tea shape a very full, multi-dimensional experience and memory. At least that's what it did for me. The only think I regret is getting 2 samplers instead of a full cake. It really does transcend beyond just a leaf when you treat it right.

Nobody deserves bad tea, but with this price tag, it seems that hardly anyone deserves the sublime stuff either. 😢

    • @LangCashman
      @LangCashman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

When you are lucky enough to know about Mei Leaf I think you definitely can get "the sublime stuff" very accessibly. In fact, almost all of their teas are sublime. Some of their lowest quality teas might not fall into the sublime category, rather they'd fall into the very very very good category.
The integrity of the Mei Leaf team is quite incredible in that the profit aspect of their business, which every business needs to have, never seems to be prioritised over the passion for sharing exceptional tea. You can see this integrity in choices not to stock certain teas in years where they can't find the right quality at a fair price point, even when they would likely make a lot money just by buying and selling a medium quality version of that tea just because of its reputation (e.g. Jin Jun Mei).
So thanks to Mei Leaf, I think we are some of the lucky few who get to experience some of they very top top, most sublime teas in the world in a very convenient way and at an extremely accessible price point.
This tea in particular I would say is not more expensive because it is exponentially more "sublime" then their other teas, but rather because it offers an extremely rarified and unique experience. When only 40kg is produced, only a handful of people in the entire world will get to go on the journey that this tea is the ticket for.
Tea is in demand and the family that produced the 40kg of this tea would know that and price accordingly. High demand, low supply = a very premium price point. I'm sure that the team at Mei Leaf isn't setting the price point purely based on the experience offered by the tea. If they could get it at half the price they did from the Ji family, I expect that we would be able to get it at a relatively cheaper price also. Unfortunately, rare commodities are always going to attract high price points.
So long story short, for the tea lovers obsessed with broadening the scope of their tea experience, they will pick up this tea and have a great time I'm sure. But for those who aren't lucky enough to get their hands on a cake of this, there are many other teas at Mei Leaf that, although they won't be the same experience, are also sublime teas and can bring just as much joy :)

I should clean up my flat... but instead I'm binge watching videos about getting tea drunk, a topic over which I stumbled today as I just started my tea journey literally two weeks ago... And I'm amazed by it. I started out with a green tea, Xi Hu Long Jing. I don't know about the quality compared to this tea, but as a starter I'm fascinated about the decency of different tastes this tea provides me with. I also like the effects of the caffeine.
I'm a rather unhinged coffee addict so to speak, but I'm also quite sensitive towards the effects when it gets too much. I feel caffeine rushes very intensely. I like that with the green tea it seems like the effects are coming much more subtle and are lasting longer than the usual caffeine-coffee rush upwards and then crashing at some point. It's much more decent and until now I didn't reach the rush level with tea.
I got a tea cooker, I infuse my water for about a minute each brew and can brew up to four times. Perhaps it's like three grams I put in. Today I just finished my second bottle of tea in like 4 hours, that means 1,5l and I'm calm and focused (yet easily distracted as evidence suggests :D). After that much coffee I'd be turning my flat upside down... And it seems as though the effects reflect the subtlety of the tastes I get of the tea. I never realised that tea has an inherent sweetness to it, or that much of flowery notes hidden inside while not being overly present and taking away anything else. I'm astonished, I'm excited. And I know that not too long in the future I'll try my first "Tea Drunk" and I hope that when I visit home during my next vacation I'll get to try this out with my best friend as well, because I'm pretty sure he doesn't know about the concept of getting tea drunk :D We'll see
    Thanks for your content!

I use food grade citric acid for descaling my kettle. Add a small amount maybe a teaspoon to half full kettle of hot water. Swirl it around for about a minute to clean the inside and pour it out from the spout so it cleans the spout also. Then rinse the kettle with fresh water. Everything comes out shiny bright with no scrubbing. I recall one older video where Celine shows how to clean teaware using citric acid. th-cam.com/video/nW3oMtdT8nU/w-d-xo.html

Then submerge my teaware in it to clean individually.
Next if you have the metal tea tray my tip is to place a rag on it in the sink and pour some on the rag so it doesn't just run down the drain but stay in contact with the tray and work the stains.
      It works...

This guys not buzzed on the tea he got wasted on the weed. ROFL. Personally I'm in to a good hojicha but Numi has a really nice chocolate Puerh as well. Last month I went to china town in chicago to the local tea shop and picked up an excellent gunpowder green for $135 a pound. Excellent taste I have to admit. Would love to sit down and drink that stuff with you boss, I love top notch tea. I drink over a quart of green tea every day for the last 7 years or so. My EGCG levels are thru the roof. Thats epigallo catechin-3- gallate for alll you newbies out there.
