      +houston34 Exactly. The Chinese always try to make everything profound and deep and cultural, while maybe that really is the case, we just need a simple instrution to enjoy a good cup of tea(and other arts).

    You have opened my heart and mind to the beauty of tea. Since discovering your site I no longer drink coffee, soda, or other awful tasting stuff. My day begins at 5am with Matcha and meditation. Then a hearty Scottish tea around 8am, at 10am a break for green or white tea, lunch at 1pm and maybe (hold your ears some iced tea) around 4pm green tea again maybe with Jasmine flowers another break & meditation then a light fruit tea before bed. I am a much happier soul Thank you.

      How can one find quality loose tea?

    • @thegreatchaos13
      @thegreatchaos13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ketsiachoisie9377 Answer: JUST DON'T DO IT! Loose leaf tea is basically the same as the tea in bags, except in the bag, the leaves are ground up so they take less time to brew. It's probably bitter because this commenter brewed it for too long. 3 minutes max if you don't want bitter tea bags. Common sense. Loose leaf tea is also very messy, and not all tea bags are machine picked. Some of the higher quality ones handpick them. Not much difference except a bunch of loose tea leaves all over the table as you struggle to get the right amount into the teapot where you could have used a pre-portioned bag of tea. End of Story.

    • @trout3685
      @trout3685 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @The Great Chaos at what temperature? I've never had good tea from tea dust. It's always burnt bitter even if I steep exactly at the suppliers' recommendations. I think if you reduce heat and time drastically, then it might be okay, but it's probably pretty bland too.

    • @dffgffffffdddddddddd
      @dffgffffffdddddddddd ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@thegreatchaos13 However, loose leaf tea has far more variety available. The average quality is far higher than bagged tea. Bagged tea, especially the lower quality brands like Bigelow and Lipton, is usually fannings - tiny tea leaves and dust with little flavor (except bitter - bleh!). Loose leaf teas tend to have far more flavor - and even better, because you can control the amount of leaf, you can control the flavor much better!

    • @thegreatchaos13
      @thegreatchaos13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trout3685 If you are using green tea, let the water cool down for a few minutes before adding. If you add the water while it is boiling, it will burn the tea.

  • @MickeyLeeBluebird

    My drink of preference has always been tea. Up until now, I've never studied tea or looked into it deeper. Just know I've always really liked it. I'm actually surprised at myself that I've never ventured down this path since I enjoy plants too. So, here I am. I'm starting at the beginning. I'm assuming I will eventually become a true tea head. BTW, I've always liked Asian style tea pots. I've often told my family how much I've wanted a unique tea set. I'm going to ask them tomorrow to see if they still remember what that one thing is that I've always wanted.

    absolutely beautiful presentation. I'll throw away my tea bags, get some proper tea and equipment and start my cultural journey in a proper way. Thanks a lot!

    I'd love a feature on Irish tea, it's so different to other black teas.

    Interesting vid. I have noticed when reusing a Keurig pod that the tea is less bitter and more enjoyable.

    Once again, I would like to leave a strong comment. These videos are excellent. Don is an extraordinary personality that brings the tea culture the warmth and welcoming it truly deserves. I have never purchased tea from you, but will take a leap and check it out. I have been watching several of your videos today and will continue to do so. Great job!! A+++

    great video for intro info! I'm new to tea brewing and this was great info. i love the chart. I do have one question. I'm not the best at tasting all the small notes of a tea or coffee for that matter but I am still curious on what to look for when it comes to adjusting the tea time. I noticed on the chart for stripped oolong tea it is recommended 20 seconds but you stated with this tea that it should be 10 seconds. My questions are in regards to how do you know the time should be 10 instead of 20. What do you look for in taste for adjusting the time. Also if the time of the infusion is 10 instead of 20 seconds is it safe to assume that more infusions could be used for the tea and how do I know when they tea is done and new tea should be used? Thanks for the help!

      Hey Talmadge. We are continuously working on our brewing times to find the best ones for us. The chart (chinalifeweb.com/guides/the-tea-brewing-chart/) is our most recent attempt but this video was made a few years ago so I would stick to the chart as a starting point and then try yourself. Longer infusions will mean that you get less infusions.
