  • It's a special day as I get to break into two brand new Sheng PuErh made less than 200km apart from each other. How do the intricacies of Terroirs affect the taste?

    Not really a tea person. Not even sure why you tube put this on my recommendations. I am actually a beer kinda guy. But I watched it. I can not dismiss your enthusiasm and thoroughness. You have me wanting to buy direct from a tiny Chinese village now. Bravo.

    Great tasting. This floral muskiness you are talking about is called 'indoles' which is found in white flowers such as jasmine, gardenia, orange blossom and tuberose. There is a lot of variety as to how it appears. It's fascinating really.

    I love these tea reviews, definitely displays the dedication and hard work the Mei Leaf team puts into sourcing their teas. I would enjoy “a best of” reel video of Don’s vivid tasting notes with maybe a thought bubble 💭 with an animation inside of it visualizing the notes’ description (e.g. an transformation animation of a baked apple - no sugar, stuffed with stewed strawberries, with grenadine syrup)

    I would be interested to know what you think about the ageing potential of each raw puerh. When you taste a young tea, can you notice certain characteristics that would make you think that it would be an ideal candidate for extended ageing? Wine critics can taste young wine and have a sense of how it will age; likewise, can you tell if some raw puerh teas are more likely to age well than others? What do you think the ageing potential is for these two teas?

    I'd love you to make video in deep how to make a distinction between different aroma notes while sniffing. It's hard to me to smell one thing next to other etc xD
    Also how to know if smell is sticky and what textures it has
    Btw I didn't know using strainer makes difference in texture, good to know

    I'm assuming the farmers were different and processing was different. Wouldn't this be a bigger factor in the taste than the climate/terroir?

    @Mei_Leaf First things first: Celine's artwork is amazing, especially the Paradise Snapper.
    Two questions: How long is this tea 'On Sale'?
    And could you offer more 100g cakes in the future?

    • @MeiLeaf
      @MeiLeaf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi and thanks, I will tell Celine. We use to offer 100g but found that the compression on those is too firm and the beeng hole takes up an excessively big proportion of the cake. We may do some limited runs of 100g Shu in the future.

    • @MeiLeaf
      @MeiLeaf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh and sale will be about a week

    • @alexair1737
      @alexair1737 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MeiLeaf Ok thx. I understand that problem with the compression. I can confirm that with Tipple Twister and Psychic Stream Seeker. But I thougt, that teas like Tub Highness, Shimmer Bliss Roady or Night Forest Muse would reach more people, cause they were be more affordable. Looking foward some 100g Shu cakes. Do you search for a successor of Gem Juice Outlaw?
      PS: My favorite wrapper so far is the Dream Scene Smuggler.

    Thank you @meileaf, must say I tried almost every sheng/raw puerh from your site. I always seem to get an astringency that I don't really like, starting from the third infusion. Is this normal?

    • @MeiLeaf
      @MeiLeaf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. All raw PuErh has astringent in varying amounts. The best way to control is drop the water temperatures by 5-10 degrees celsius.
