Excellent choice; love the white because it shows off the black corking on the arch extensions and the (painted) black air intakes so well. Congrats for going for carbs, round-belly and not a low-body Countach too, all the correct choices. I bought my QV back in 2010 and even though I'm lucky enough to have driven almost everything, having a Countach stare back at you whenever you open the garage door remains very special.
My top tip would be to fit a new set of Pirelli P7 tyres, if the previous owner hasn't done so. They make a big difference. Next, check the geometry and the condition of all the rose-joints in the suspension. Once you've done that, simply keep filling it with super-unleaded (never check the mpg) and drive the wheels off it. That's the best way to enjoy the craziness of this legendary supercar, that's always hard work but also so damn rewarding to drive.
I agree with Doug regarding your channel. Love from Thailand.
@@soupappreciator8977 The car is beyond ugly.
That was a nice shout out Doug gave you for your channel there Harry, and he was 100% correct! Best automotive channel on TH-cam. Watching you get your Countach back up to scratch recently was an absolute joy! But even more so your Testarossa, absolutely love that car!
Harry I am watching your channel for years now. Great job, cheers from Switzerland 🇨🇭
What a wonderful comment from a legend. Thank you for the tips and for the kind words, Harry!
Congratulations on your incredible purchase!

I thought this was yours lol
My first thought was, that Doug bought yours.
i thought of you when i saw it.
Dan from Beirut.
thought it was yours he had bought to begin with :-)
23:58 "This is soo cool! I can't see anything... it's lovely!!!" Like a child in a candyshop. This is how real and honest enthusiasm and happiness looks like. Good choice Doug!
I don’t know if I’ve ever commented on a video on YT ever before. I have been a subscriber of Doug’s long before he reached half a million subs, but seeing the pure joy, smile, laughter, and excitement in his voice at the start of him driving this car is the ultimate character arc of watching him all these years. I couldn’t be more excited for him, and I couldn’t be happier watching this unfold.
Congrats, Doug! What a sensible and reasonable family car.
Practicality score of 0.
Best reason ever for no wife or kids... lol

It's a maintenance financial black hole. There will be engine-out services that will run him $30K
He can’t even fit in it, way too tall
Doug's the type of guy who is 6'4" and buys one of the most cramped sports car of all time.
That was my first thought as well
Doug’s the type of guy who claims to be 6’2”- 6’3” so he could be like the M159 AMG V8
I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw his head in the headliner.
Hoovie is 6 ft 2 and he also bought one. Matt Farrah is not the ideal customer either he also has one along with Harry Metcalf from Harry’s Garage who’s over 6 ft tall. But they look past that and buy one for the overall experience and investment potential. Besides it’s not like it’s going to be the daily in your car collection.
I sat in a 25 th Anniversary Countach with 650 miles on it and it fit me absolutely perfectly. Like it was made for me. I have long arms and 5ft 10 inches. Weigh 200 Lbs I felt like that’s the max to be comfortable the Countach. Definitely built for your average to tall Italian.
ok, your pure joy in this video was so contagious. Congrats man, theres literally nobody more deserving after seeing how much it means to you
Stoked for you Doug!! Perfect choice on model, trim, and year. The Countach is just the ultimate in design/styling, I could look at it all day!
Doug is the kind of guy who calls $500k-$600k a bargain and is right about it.
Who on earth is "DOUD"?
In 20 years we’re going to laugh at how “cheap” that seemed!
@@DougDeMuroTrue
@@DougDeMuro I have a 98 Mazda B4000 (ford ranger) and it has 118k miles on it. I bought it for $2500 7 years ago, it's now worth close to 10k, the right cars bought at the right time will go up in value, specifically because you cannot buy anything like it today. The current ford ranger is a fat unreliable pig compared to the old rangers, and people know it. The maverick is too small/lacks capability.
a Countach has always been special, but you can never buy something new like it. It's like your video on the Bugatti where they hid all the screens for the same reason. Because in 10 years all that tech will look stupid and date the car.
Or expensive as there are no gas stations to fill it up😂
Nothing is better than seeing a genuine car guy enjoying their car and sharing it with the world! So happy for you Doug, you're building one hell of a collection!
Oh, hey Matt. Nice to see you here!
Very well said, I was thinking the same thing.
Your one of the last people I expected to see here lol
Seriously. I drew this car so darn often when I was younger, lol. Very happy for Doug in this one! It really shows that the best car doesn't always have to be the most expensive. I can't wait to own another cheap and dirty 99-04 Mustang GT. Nothing too fancy, but man do I love driving them. It just feels so good to me! Maybe someday.
Well said. His appreciation for cars is so contagious!!
Having watched your channel for years, this is the happiest I've seen you driving a car; great choice, congratulations you just bought my 1980s poster car!
Dude… The sheer joy on your face while driving made my day! Thanks for that. And you are the perfect person to own that car!

I was considering a countach recently, but I preferred a little more rear visibility. So I bought a corolla.

There is something so satisfying in seeing someone so passionate about a car, with tons of specific requirement which were met, the luckiest deal possible... and then you pause the video at 22:47 - Doug is on top of his joy... and his head is touching the ceiling of the car :D

Shame on Doug for bragging about his wealth on youtube.
Congratulations Doug! Beautiful example of the Countach. It clearly has brought some serious joy into your life. Love it!

For some reason I’m so happy that Doug is like rich rich now. He just gets to live all his childhood dreams and he’s just genuinely enjoying life
Totally agree
Been watching him for a long long time now. It’s so great to see him succeed
Yep. My goal is to at least get to 40k a year so I can have a good life (at much less than half of that now)
For me it's the fact he still has his unique, distinct character that he's always had. I've been a subscriber since he had the 360 and it's great to see him diversify his content too
Now he just needs to stop renting his house!
Congrats the smile and “so cool” line is so honest you can tell this car gives you that amazing feeling

I couldn't agree more, I'm here in bed watching in the dark because I couldn't sleep, and within 5-seconds of watching the video, you couldn't slap the smile off of my face for anything, and I think it stayed right there throughout the entirety of the video. His "obsessed, obsessed!!' remark as he was driving it, is so genuine how could you not be happy for him. And at the same time grateful that he shares, without a shadow of a doubt, his true self while he is filming and talking to us as if we are on the phone with him having a conversation while he's driving it. Thank you Doug!

We made the right guy famous. I wish you great memories with that car Doug! 🎉
I'm gonna shamelessly ride your comment coattail, he was rocking around in that chair so hard i was worried it would tip over and mess up the car's bodywork
The joy Doug got from driving that beauty is infectious. Thanks for sharing Doug! I think you brought a tear to my eye...
Doug is like a twelve years old in this car! I had this car on my wall poster when I was twelve years old. Happy you’re having so much fun and seeing your genuine smile and having the time of your life. Love you reviews Doug! Keep up the good the great work.
That look on your face says it all. My dad bought an '82 Countach as his midlife crisis car. I'll never forget going into NYC with him to pick it up at the dealership. He was like a kid. On the ride home, my dad -- a very serious guy (albeit brilliantly witty man) -- was grinning from ear to ear with unbridled joy. I was also lucky to have a dad who wanted me to share in that joy, and made the car available to me to drive wherever I wanted. (Picked up my high school prom date with it!)
It was a challenging car to drive, but worth the effort. The old man kept his for about two and a half years, ultimately trading it in as it was just too unreliable. He was sad the day he traded it. His new car, a BMW 633 csi, was a terrific car though, and in many ways a better performance car than the Lambo. But up until the day he died, if I ever reminisced about the Countach, he would smile and say, "She was a beast, wasn't she?"
She really was.
Enjoy your new toy, sir. You've earned it.
I remember seeing a bmw 633 in 1993 in italy when I was in the service. Driven by another US serviceman.
I had a GEO storm gti - then later, a used 1990 Lada 4x4
What a touching story!❤

Doug has become a narcissist and self-serving person. How about giving to charity rather than buying ridiculously expensive cars. It is embarrassing.
LMAO there's always that one fake virtuous person who'll claim wealthy people should donate instead of spending on the things they like. How do you know he's not already a charitable person who also enjoys his cars? Being woke is more embarrassing.

Don't forget the Ford GT.
That's a pretty special analog car too.
@@Mamo878 it's the one I'd have, for the price and the mystique of it. Such a timeless beauty, and that V-8. The Countach will always be a childhood romance car, but it doesn't sound good like the Ford GT, and it's not as driveable. Same for the CGT, but another icon. Countach for bucket list cool factor, Ford GT for driveability, CGT for exhaust note and exotic car fix.
Belated congrats. That gated shifter! As someone who grew up reading Car and Driver in the '80s it was impressed on me that the two manual gearshifts that stood above all others are the Italian supercar gated ones and those in Hondas. I've driven a manual Honda almost every day of my adult life so far, and a chance to drive (much less own) a now-vintage Lambo or Ferrari is a bucket-list thing.
I absolutely love this car. You driving it with the video gave me all the smiles. I felt like I was driving it for the first time. So awesome! Still a dream car. Round belly. Totally the best looking. Congratulations Bubba!

That's what the mY tEsLa Is FaStEr!!!! bros don't understand. It's not about 0-60, it's about the whole experience. A Countach is an assault on the senses and requires constant engagement. It's an unreliable piece of crap slapped together by chain-smoking wine-drinking Italians and that's what makes it so great.
He is so correct. I was driving a C8 Corvette a couple weekends ago on some mountain roads and I came up on a VW Bus going slow. We were on a nice straightway, so I decided to pass this VW. I punch it and the C8 gave me all she got as I'm passing this bus, when I look up in the rearview mirror, and what do I see? A KIA. A KIA EV6 hanging step for step with a Corvette as we are passing this bus. So, yeah, he is 100% spot on. lol

Love the video! More power to everybody owning and loving a Countach!.. What bothers me is that the front wheel well looks so different from the rear one.. a glitch in the design, almost gorgeous, but that sucks, don't want a Jeep Wrangler wheel well on my Lamborghini, but maybe it looked just perfect to 80's eyes.

I will never be able to drive a Countach but watching you giggle at the visceral feeling of really feeling the car and the road reminds me of the first time I drove a bone stock early Mazda Miata. I had feelings like that in that Miata. The smell of the car and the way it handled will always stick with me. I imagine your experience is similar, with a lot more power and 500k. I have spent a lot of time in high performance cars but the 1994 Miata will always be the one for me. Your Miata video missed the MY by one year.

My favorite Doug review, EVER! Congrats on the Countach! It will remain the poster car dream of millions of car fanatics for many, many years to come! You're right about speed. It's so democratized, now, so easily accessible and relatively safe, too, that it will become secondary to the visual impact and visceral experience. Ferrari, for example, is going the right direction with the 296. Impossibly modern, yes, but what do they keep pushing? That it's fun to drive. That's where the value should lie in all of these toy cars - in the total experience - the smile factor! Congrats, again! Wonderful car!
Pretty sweet how in that 1 shot the red and Yellow one side by side look like side swipe and sun streaker the 2 autobot brothers from Transformers

You and Matt are so spot on with your opinion on the best looking ones - wing, flairs, round belly. So damn cool
Doug’s head against the headliner kills me😂 Congrats Doug. Incredible car.
that was my initial reaction to seeing this video. I've seen tall youtubers like Hoovie and Ed Bolian struggle with the internal dimensions of the Countach; it was not designed with 6ft+ american frames in mind. I'm not surprised by Doug buying a flashy 80s supercar, or his rationale behind why it will continue to appreciate in value; I'm surprised that he would buy a car that he very clearly does not physically fit in.
I'm also on the opposite end of the height spectrum as Doug so I don't have to deal with things being too tiny for me, pretty much ever. Maybe it's just something you get used to and it doesn't bother him much.
@@garfinkelc11 These cars never had an ergonomic sweet spot for any size driver...it's just part of the charm. Big drivers bump their head, short drivers struggle to back the car from the door sill. Medium drivers deal with blindspots and small mirrors and awkward pedal placement. Nobody is driving these from NJ to Florida, they're Cars and Coffee show pieces and a quick night out at a posh restaurant every few months on a perfect weather night.
I'm so happy to see Doug reap the rewards of all of his hard work. His smile says it all 😁
