    I made this realization a few years ago. My hair was dull and breaking despite all the natural this or that. I made the switch back to silicones and my hair is wayyyyy healthier and retaining length.

    I blame the silicone hate on the popularity of no poo routines. At some point, lots of women jumped on Lorraine Massey's Curly Girl routine bandwaggon and stopped using silicones, since they weren't shampooing. Over time silicones got a bad rep for no reason. I've never stopped shampooing and never cancelled silicone! However, I remember hating Aussie 3 minutes, when I tried it. Not sure how the formulation has evolved as it was years ago. Completely agree with the point that natural doesn't equal good. I think for some people it's kind of a spiritual thing though.

      Me too! Obviously without a shampoo you might struggle to rinse out silicones & yes for me in the U.K. the 3 minute miracle is still fantastic especially as a final conditioner not. Sure about the US & yess I understand when people have a reason for natural too!🤍🤍🤍

    I never had an issue with silicone and stopped using it because of all the talk. I started to think back to 80' and 90's and every hair stylist I went to back then would always compliment me on how healthy my ( boxed colored) hair was.Thanks for this. I knew I wasn't crazy!

    My hair is naturally straight and I was told going silicone free would be better. So I switched to “natural” shampoo bars and silicone free conditioners, didn’t use my hair oil anymore. My hair was looking so dull and tangled. Now I’m back to products that contain silicones. My hair is finally back to being shiny again with healthy end after I had to get it trimmed because of severe damage. Let’s say it had been an experience I don’t want to do again.

    Actually silicones agree more with my hair than so called naturally based products such as shea moisture and the like. I’ve noticed significantly difference with silicone products than the so called natural ones after 1 application. There is a big difference. I like my Dominican products for sure on my high porosity 3c 4a hair! Like many others, I really don’t know why I switched to the natural products and didn’t stay with what actually worked for my hair. I guess I was following the majority. You can’t listen to everyone else because every thing doesn’t work for everyone the same exact way. I’ve learned my lesson! That’s for sure.

I was wondering, as you mentioned you use 3 different types of conditioner on your wash day, could you either show us a step by step wash day with an example of each, or do a sit down step by step explanation with product examples? I've just found this video and been following for ages. I have always used silicones but one thing you said only just clicked for me. Not using a silicone product before you've washed and moisturized. I have been using the tresseme conditioner(have never checked ingredients) to detangle before deep conditioning never realising I've put a barrier on my hair so deep conditioning isn't 100% effective 🤯

    So, the best method if using a silicone conditioner is to go in with a non-silicone moisture conditioner/treatment first? Do I rinse/half-rinse that one out and then apply and rinse the silicone conditioner out after? I also use curl cream/leave-in on my damp hair with gel to style my curls...
    Sorry, I've been following the CGM for a while now but want to go back to incorporating silicone conditioners. Used one today for the first time in a long time and my hair started to spiral just combing my fingers through my hair! It was amazing!

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes exactly that! Making sure your hair is moisturised first & If you’re going to add a curling cream then fully rinse out your conditioner. I half rinse my conditioner so I don’t have to use leave ins etc

  • @emd1021
    @emd1021 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great video as always! I had a question regarding the ACV, so just mixing ACV with your deep conditioner every week is moisturizing/toning enough that you shouldn’t have to moisturize between washes? What do you think about just plain plant oils such as Argan, jojoba etc. thank you !

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes! The goal is to Not have to re-moisturise in the week. What we call “re-moisturising” isn’t actually that. When we spray water we just reactive the product already on our hair. And when we apply product on top of products without cleansing first it doesn’t do us the benefit we think it does! The best way is to train your hair to retain moisture better - I don’t re moisturise my hair in between wash day, just style it etc xx

      @@naturalnadinee Hi. So if I exercise and my hair gets sweaty, won't I need to wash it with shampoo in order to remoisterize it? Because when I don't, my hair feels crispy from the salty sweat and adding water, leave-in and oil on top doesn't help much.

    • @Didiecurls
      @Didiecurls ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@essiej5229that is exactly what she’s saying. Spraying water is just reactivating already existing products in hair. Now washing your hair with shampoo and applying the products is really moisturizing it. I hope that’s clear.

      @essiej5229 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My issue with Silicones is more that they ruin my styles. Especially WnG styles. I noticed that they *really* buffer against my curl formation and almost make my hair puffy and undefined? I don't find that they damage my hair but I think the bigger culprit is that silicones may still ruin certain styles (and people perceive that as hair damage). Oil has a similar effect in my hair so I'm conservative with both.

    Hi Nadine I've just tried this method for the first time - good but my hair feels like it could do with a leave -in. Is it okay to leave the Aussie 3 minute in as a 'leave-in'? Thanks for all your information which has been invaluable.

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi Natural Nadine! I just found your channel and I absolutely love the information you provide! I am a bit confused on silicones as a sealant. I usually deep condition my hair, then apply a leave in conditioner then oil to seal. So, if I use a silicone based rinse out conditioner after my deep conditioner, is there no need for a leave in conditioner? Do I simply rinse my hair and apply oil? And then how do I to re-moisturize my hair mid week? if I spritz my hair with water and a leave in conditioner will that penetrate through the silicone?

    • @naturalnadinee
      @naturalnadinee  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly girl I stopped using leave in conditioners a looong time ago mainly because they are formulated the exact same as rinse out/deep conditioners. I apply my rinse out A LOT of it then I rinse out the majority and leave in a little and use that as my leave in if that makes sense? && yess, if your product can penetrate through oils they can penetrate through silicone but in the same way it won’t be as much as if your hair was completely clean xxx

    Hi Nadine! Thanks for this video on silicones! I appreciate all this education. In regards to your wash day, do you shampoo, condition with heat under shower cap for 30 minutes using a deep conditioner without silicones, rinse that deep conditioner out, then add conditioner with silicone to the hair, rinse that, spray hair with apple cider vinegar water mix (1:3 ratio), rinse hair, and then style hair in wash and go. Is this correct order?
