Its coming on and I am loving the process, spent sometime on mine today shell is now completely stripped of everything so spent a couple of hours today removing the old sound deadening material of the rear floors and seat base a boring job but necessary, now to think about either buying a jig or making one.

Hi! Thank you 👍👍 yeah it’s a laborious job taking that horrible sound deadening off but it’s good you’re doing the job properly by spending the time taking it off 👍

Great work! A clever way to weld up that bracket with the bolt holes first. I guess that makes sense but I just never really thought about it.

Hi! Thank you very much 👍👍 it’s seam to work well doing it this way, it was a bit tricky getting into it to weld it in with our rotisserie jig back on the car but it’s another job done 😀.

It may be too late for this build but I can highly recommend a product called Aquasteel.
Similar to Kurust but it is thicker and is used in the marine industry.
They sell it by the litre so it works out cheaper that buying little bottles.
Amazon and all the usual suspects.

Hi Kieth thank you very much really appreciate that 👍👍. Yeah we’ve done one side with a whole new floor including the outer sill so we’ll be repeating the process on this side too.

Hi,have followed this build with interest for a while and seen all the older videos
i have been a back street driver and watched and enjoyed without comment as i did not have a mini and felt best not to comment as i was not doing the same as you
i would have appeared as a subscriber as ACORN MOTOR REPAIRS
I have now changed that to Classic Birthday Mini as on my birthday a couple of weeks ago a mini shell and loads of parts arrived
I will be making a video of the car as it is now and if there are people interested as i progress will add more
I have never taken videos before so that will be a challenge and trying to up load them
i did a dry run around the car with no sound was 2 short clips then did a walk around the car with some sound im not sure how to edit or improve on this but will try in the next day or 2 to upload them and maybe you and a few others i watch can comment and help me out on this side of things as soon as i have done this will make a start on the shell with a much closer look and formulate a plan of attack allso will videos the parts that are with it
    then will start the rebuild
I have convinced my self to buy a tig welder i have a mig and have used one for many years but i want to learn n to tig weld and i know i should practise on bits of metal but knowing me the practice metal will be the mini
any way thats enough rambling lets see if i can find the way to upload thses clips
    cheers Brian

Hi The strip you added between quarter panel and inner bin wall ... What is its purpose a) structure or b) prevent water ingress or both?. Do you weld to quarter panel as there is a large gap. Ta

Hi! That is an interesting question. It’s called a companion box closing panel, but I have to say other than is closing the gap into the outer sill I’m not 100% sure of any other purpose is has or serves, definitely not structural though. It doesn’t get welded to the quarter, so as you say there is a very small gap, but this is original haw it left the factory.
