Yep, this was a diss song referencing their split. The producer of this song also produced Rumors track. After they split, the producers created this new group. They called themselves Nouveau which is french for new, modern or recently created. I briefly mentioned what happened in your Rumor's reaction video. My favorite: I like this track beat better, but the lyrics of Rumors & the video had me laughing. I'm a sucker for a great beat so I'll say this one is my favorite plus I love Valerie's voice, she can sing. Her voice really shines in some of their other hits like Why You Treat Me So Bad & Situation#9. 🌟Nice reaction Jack.
This isdefinitely a diss track, but I hadn't a clue at the time. That's crazy that I didn't pick up on that. I remember when both songs came out. Club Nouveau had some bangers. You should react to their version of” Lean on Me”, and their song” Why you treat me so bad”.
Damn CRobb this song is funny as hell. This was such a clean but real diss song. No swearing just spitting facts. Low Key calling them snitches saying they are "dropping dimes" 😂. Great Request CRobb!
Here's info according to Wikipedia: "Timex Social Club disbanded shortly after the success of "Rumors". The band's producer Jay King, Denzil Foster, and Thomas McElroy formed Club Nouveau, whose first single was "Jealousy", an answer song to "Rumors" that references Timex Social Club's split." Looking at TH-cam, Haltime Chat, a comment said, "Jay King Produced Rumours for Timex Social Club. When they signed a deal behind his back he formed Club Nouveau and wrote and produced Jealousy as a way to hit back at the guys."
Yup, I even remember them talking about it on the NYC stations, the split was well known back then and the diss. Looking back, it might’ve been the first official R&B diss record.
The beginning part of the music video reminded me of mission impossible for some reason but wow these songs are literally timeless music let’s go. And yeah road to 80k subs.
Compare the covers for Timex Social Club's Rumors and the album cover for Club Nouveau's Life, Love & Pain ... basically growing up I thought they were the same group... one of those producer created groups that formed and reformed...
Timex Social Club had a song Thinkin About You and Club N had Why You Treat Me So Bad that also had the same beat(I Got 5 On It sampled the beat). Check it out. I like Club N better but they both gave great memories!
You should react to their song why you treat me so bad by club nouveau which ashanti sampled the song for her song only u which was the beginning part of the song
@5:00 I prefer "Rumors" because it's the original. It was the bigger hit, too. "Jealousy" sounds like a copycat song. Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy also went on to form En Vogue. They wrote and produced a lot of their hits. So we wouldn't have En Vogue if Timex Social Club and Club Nouveau had been able to stay together. If Dawn Robinson (original En Vogue member) and Raphael Saadiq (original Toni, Tony, Tone member) were team players, then we wouldn't have Lucy Pearl (a group formed with Dawn, Raphael and Ali from Tribe Called Quest). On and on. God creates beauty from ashes! It's funny to me how certain group members have to keep reforming new groups with other people because they keep thinking that the problem is others when it's really them. Like "serial monogamists" (i.e., relationship addicts). @5:32 This was the era of R&B diss records like Alexander O'Neal's "Criticize" , "Fake", and "Hearsay." Another example: New Edition's 🎶Where It All Started🎶 is a diss record against all R&B groups that "bite" their style, especially New Kids on the Block (formed by their former manager who specifically said that he wants to create a white New Edition).

Forster and McElroy 2 of the guys from this group discovered En Vogue.
Check out the entire album. It only has 6 songs but they are all great. "Situation #9", "Heavy on my Mind", "Why you treat me so bad"...

Their cover of the classic Lean On Me was a big hit back then. You should definitely check it out.
I LIKE BOTH SONGS BUT THIS BETTER TO ME.
Yes this a diss track, Why You treat Me So Bad was their biggest hit I believe.
Lean on Me was their biggest hit
Lean On Me was their biggest hit. Also, Why You Treat Me So Bad is musically derivative of Timex Social Club ‘Thinkin’ About Ya’.

I love their slow cut, "Let Me Go" the ultimate break up song.
My roommate used to listen to Club Nouveau in the 80's & I immediately loved them.
Thank you CRobb for the request!!!
Wow this takes me back !😏
Damn CRobb this song is funny as hell. This was such a clean but real diss song. No swearing just spitting facts. Low Key calling them snitches saying they are "dropping dimes" 😂. Great Request CRobb!
Yep a 100% pure diss song, lol. Thanks e-ross.

Side note: Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy are responsible for creating En Vogue
Didn't Foster and McElroy also bring En Vogue together?
@@JustPerusing yes
Club Nouveau hands down.
The beginning part of the music video reminded me of mission impossible for some reason but wow these songs are literally timeless music let’s go. And yeah road to 80k subs.

Amazing song request for sure been loving it 🔥🔥🔥 much love ❤❤❤

Are those clips of Josephine Baker dancing? If so wonder how they connect with the message of the song. Or were they just paying tribute to her?
Both was banging in the clubs in late 80s ...rumors and jealousy.
I did not know this was a diss track aside from knowing the producer of this and Rumors.
Its a diss. Their album covers look similar. Check it out. I don't know the story but there was beef. But check out those album covers. Its crazy!
Rumors was more mainstream and popular. Both good songs.
You should react to their song why you treat me so bad by club nouveau which ashanti sampled the song for her song only u which was the beginning part of the song
There's also one more song that was made similar to these two. Called Roaches by Bobby Jimmy and The Cfitters it is hilarious.😂😂😂😂
Rumors, by Timex Social Club was a better bop!
Jealousy
Rumors
