I currently own a 2016 R1200RT and previously a 2013 HD CVO Road Glide and before that a 2008 BMW K1200S and many other motorcycles over the past 52 years. I had the K1600B for a day to test ride while my R1200RT was in for service. Sometimes less is better. While the BMW is great for spirited riding the ESA suspension is not without its problems, with just over 25k miles my ESA needed replacement and was covered under warranty but the cost would have been over 3k if not covered. Even the extended warranty will not cover the ESA suspension since it is considered a wearable component according to my dealer. The electronics are adequate but lacking on the BMW, you cannot pair your smartphone to the bike. You can only pair the BT on the BMW to your helmet. The audio system is hard to hear at freeway speeds and I wear a Corsair X helmet. My IPhone 6 has a difficult time connecting with my R1200RT with the additional BMW audio cable, it may connect 50% of the time. However my old school 30 pin IPod works as advertised with my R1200RT If you like listening to music at all while riding the HD with the Boom Audio 2 system is the only way to go. There is no audio upgrade available for the BMW except for wearing ear buds or in helmet speakers (Sena 20S). With the HD audio system my IPhone 6 paired with no issues and once again the Boom Audio system blows the BMW audio system out of the water for sound quality and sound level at freeway speeds. The side bags of the K1600B cannot store my helmet like my R1200RT but the HD will not either. I am not a big fan of the side bag opening on the BMW (R1200RT and K1600B) because you need to buy bag inserts to keep the contents from falling out of the bag. When you open the bag there is just an opening with a slick hard plastic surface and the contents can and will fall out. On my R1200RT I purchased a top case that opens from the top and it is my go to option for storage. I like the HD side bags better because the bag lids open from the top and not the side. Yes the K1600B is faster and has more power then the HD it even has more power then my R1200RT. I view horse power ratings and torque figures as bragging rights. Both bikes will get you from A to B with no drama. Both bikes will exceed the speed limit and how fast does one need to travel over the speed limit on public roadways. If listening to music is important and connecting your smart phone to the bike via Bluetooth the Harley is the clear winner. If engine power / acceleration is your motivation then the K1600B is the winner. However if you want to cruise and drive within the speed limit both bikes will perform the task. I have owned mostly Honda sport bikes over the years and my first HD was a 2003 Softail Deuce followed up by a 2007 Road Glide and then a 2013 CVO Road Glide. All three HD's where dependable and not one drop of oil founds its way to my garage floor. There is no right or wrong answer between either the HD or BMW for bike ownership.
I'm not a big fan of side opening bags as well, for the reason you mentioned. However, the K1600 (not sure if K1600B is same) bags come off, so I think that's an exception. You can walk into the hotel like it's a suitcase, and lay it on its side, and not worry about anything falling out.
My bikes in the last 10yrs have been, 4 Victories, 2 Indians (19 Chieftain & 20 Challenger) and now the BMW K1600b. I have ridden relatives and friends Harleys along with a 22 Road Glide Special a couple months ago. The BMW kicks the shit out of all of them by leaps and bounds! Now, the K1600 isn’t perfect but it’s more comfortable, except wind buffeting is an insure unless you get a 3 foot tall windshield, which isn’t for me, the bags suck and the stereo is pathetic. But everything else is several notch’s above everything else on the market.
The best point made about the bmw is that it is a touring bike for retired sport riders. I currently own an american cruiser which I am trying to sell, cause I scrape the floor boards all the time and try to cowboy it in ways that it was not meant to do.I like that bmw decided to do that particular seating position, that is the big selling point. Wish they would reduce the cost a bit, by getting rid of the stereo, I have never understood why manufacturers add this to motorcycles, such a waste. Wind noise overwhelms me, and I am usually wearing ear plugs.
Risen both Harley and Bmw. Dad has the ultra classic. Great bike if all you want to do is go straight down the highway and constantly take it in for service. Bmw all the way for me.
even a 2018 Harley Davidson CVO road glide with a 117 Milwaukee-8 Brought up to stage 4 wouldn't be able to hang with the K1600B acceleration wise or in any performance metric.
@@ZombieZim713 Jason Harley-Davidson it's been telling us how fast and what great premium motorcycles they are for the last hundred years and now you're telling us we're not comparing Apples to Apples
actually you are pretty wrong, even the stock 114 first pulls away from K1600B and the K1600B will pass the Road Glide at around 150-160kmh and will slowly walk away from Road Glide. But then again we are above legal speed limit in most countries anyway. And the M8 stage IV is showing the taillight to this BMW up to 200kmh. Its not a huge difference but its so. While people think that K1600 is insanely fast, its just the sound of the 6 cylinder that makes them think it is...
Ride Like a Pro Jerry Palladino Gotta say Motor Man .... You have the Bluest Harley I’ve ever seen ! Wouldn’t you prefer an RT ? At least this way , the guy you’re trying to ticket couldn’t out run you ! Lol- 😜
Like the man said the bmw is not as comfortable a bike to ride as the Harley. Probably like some girls you may know, some built for comfort and some for speed, you choose.
Kind of apples to oranges, but both bikes serve the same general purpose of long range touring. I currently own a 2019 K1600GTL and previously owned a 2017 Ultra Limited. I loved the Harley and found it to be a comfortable, capable, and reliable ride. It was great on the Interstate for 800 miles a day or more and it was quite nimble as a canyon carver with some extra caution. The Beemer is considerably faster, handles considerable better on twisty roads, but is not as comfortable on high mileage Interstate rides. It is better suited to 100mph cruising speeds over the HD since the Harley shuts off at around 106 mph while the Beemer is just getting going. I think the Beemer will do around 150 mph but I can't personally attest to that. They are both great bikes!
How is that? BMW is cheaper better built, requires less mods to ride, better tech, more power torque, heated seats & Grips. I could go on but I have to find someone to buy my 2011 Street glide fast
I own a 2015 K1600 GT (orange) and a 2014 Road King CVO (also orange). Both bikes are great for different reasons. There is nothing like cruising on a Harley. The heartbeat of the engine is hypnotic and therapeutic. The sound is instantly recognizable and with the experience comes a certain freedom or sense of freedom. BTW, the CVO has tons of power and the bike handles well for that type of riding. Whether all day touring or short stints. The K1600 is also a great bike and amazingly fast. You get everywhere in a hurry. Suspension is great, brakes are great. It begs you to give it more throttle and to go faster. It begs you to challenge every road, every obstacle. And it delivers constantly. You can’t go wrong with either bike. Both will have you smiling. The HD as you ride and enjoy existing. The BMW as you ride and enjoy accomplishing.
I own the Honda Trail 90. It has automatic shifting, gets over 100MPG, and it's light enough to pick up. Chicks dig it, especially with how big it makes me look while I'm on it. I took the muffler baffle out, so it sounds more throaty and mean. And, it's paid for!
I own a Harley road glide ultra. The performance of my harley is sub par. A buyer shouldn’t need to spend money to upgrade an expensive motorcycle to be good enough. I only bought it because it was comfortable. I wish bmw or Honda would offer a touring bike to comfortably fit a larger man. I’d trade up in heartbeat.
I sold the Road Glide Ultra after 5 years of ownership. It wasn’t all bad but I’m glad it’s gone. I’ll be busy remodeling my house this year. However, next year I plan to test a Honda gold wing, a Yamaha transcontinental, and a bmw grand America as well as the Bagger model. If I can get comfortable on it I’ll test ride it.
Direct from owners of respective bikes. Very nicely done! The final comment is pure gold: one is flying carpet and the other is flying broom stick. Could not have summed it up better.
I own a 1200RT and regularly ride Electra Glides when I’m in the States. They are both great bikes and I know the K is even better than my R. But if I had a long day in the saddle ahead of me, I would choose the Harley. Looking at the other comments on here, I think most would disagree. But I think the Hogs are great. Well thought out panniers, good comfort with lots of vent options, the best stereo ever on a bike, and better handling than you may believe. I love BMWs, but a day on a Harley is never forgotten.
I have owned both bikes no money spent on the BMW at 114000 but the Harley 2017 road glide 9300 motor used oil 6 weeks to get it fixed my 13 road glide had to change the compensator 55000 , the BMW is a superior bike ,yes it cost more to buy but no in repair bills , the k1600gtl if you remove the touring pack looks better
Man you must of had a lemon. I have an 04 Road Glide with over 70k miles and I am finally getting the top end rebuilt. Never one problem other than ware and tare.
i don't remember saying the Harley was a fast bike ,so whats your point ,if you don't like cruiser bikes that's your problem . the great thing is people get to ride what they wish , have your self a great day
Go to the BMW forums and see what repair costs on those problematic bikes cost. The Bimmers always go up for sale right around when the warranty is about to be up or and extended one is added to help sale.
ttgk I personally have never had that experience. They do try to add on s*** you don't need there's no question but that's dealer pressure and that applies to most dealerships really
I'm not sure why people insist on comparing these two? Obviously, if you're looking for a canyon carver, the BMW is the superior bike. If you prioritize style, comfort and utility in your touring, the HD is the pick. I think the owner said it best, "there's a place for both in my garage."
No comparison... I've owned both. The BMW is basically a Super Bike disguised as a American Bagger. Although I'm partial to the BMW because of it's superior performance. The HD is about character and I'm connected to it.
I had both of these bikes...at the same time. As much as I tried to like the Harley I slowly realized that Harleys were not motorcycles. They are toys, made to be looked at, not ridden. I can't even begin to list all their faults. My K1600GT rides and handles like a Ferrari. Fun is when some Harley wants to give me a run. Even more fun is to follow a bunch of them on some sort bumpy road that keeps them below 55 mph. You guessed it, 100 mph in 4th gear around them all. At that speed the sound of the Beemer drowns out even the loudest HD. I swear I could ride the BMW down railroad tracks at highway speed, that's just how good the suspension is. Good luck.
To find the hp of the Harley take the hp of the BMW and divide by two. Then subtract the number of times you blinked while reading this and you will be pretty close.
To find the ownership length and satisfaction index of BMW, take the length and index of the Harley and divide by two. Then subtract the months, per year, that it sits in the garage. BMW HAS to have twice hp to put smile on the face.
I’ve ridden sport bikes for 30 years and just bought a Road Glide Special. I still have a 1000 Ninja. I can honestly tell you that I ride the Harley a lot more. My Ninja is the sports car and my Harley is the Escalade. They are no comparison. The BMW sounds like a sport bike, looks like a sport bike and adds touring capabilities but it’s no where near the comfort or wind protection for long rides. My 800 pound Harley kept me safe in 60 mph cross winds as I rode through the Nevada desert. The windshield help reduce fatigue as the wind went over my head. The 114cu motor is faster than most cars so I ample power for passing. If you want to race then maybe a Harley isn’t for you or shouldn’t be your only bike but as for me going on a long ride or even around town I prefer my Harley for the storage, space, customization options , power and resale value. I like the BMW but for touring I would rather get their new R18 as it’s a direct competitor to the Harleys Road Glide and Street Glide.
I have about four hundred thousand miles on Harley Davidson Road Glide since 1999 they are a very nice old man's bike. They handled poorly they weigh too much. Whole design needs updating as we've been telling them for 25 years. A lot of us older Riders I'm 64 now have switched away from Harley-Davidson either because the failure to make a better motorcycle for the price they are charging you. The last Road Glide I went to look at in 2018 was going to cost me $37,000 plus tax. To get out the door I drove my 2015 Road Glide to a BMW dealer and bought a GTL. Incredible motorcycle handles power 750 pounds 250 lb lighter than a Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra. I waited for 20 years for Harley-Davidson to make a fast good handling motorcycle. I now own a 2018 BMW GTL and a 2016 BMW GSA. It is so much fun to kick a Harley-Davidson ass on a giant dirt bike that has a hundred 25 horse 110 foot pounds of torque on dirt bike tires
I know what you mean. I have a 2020 BMW 1600 GTL, amazing bike. I also have a 2015 KTM 1290t super adventure. That bike is a hooligan disguised as a ADV bike. Don't let the 50/50 tires fool you. I once had a street glide try to out run that KTM, that's called a rude awakening.
No, it’s like comparing a Porsche Boxter with a Porsche Cayenne. Both excellent, at 2 completely different sides of the market. One is VERY comfy, has more room, has a comfy passenger space, made to tour (kinda, this isn’t a GTL). The other is a sports car (kinda, this isn’t an s1000rr), that is pretty fast, and pretty sporty. You can tour in the Boxter and you can try to drive the Cayenne sporty, but neither is in its element. Me personally, I’d take the beemer
for European riders the best choice would be an adventure sport touring bike. The b roads are not in the best situation and you will have to avoid obstacles on the pavement and many dips. You need powerful brakes and engine, abs and dtc for the slippery wet roads and suspension with long travel. All these cannot be offered by a harley or even the bmw of the review. If you only ride on highways then one of these would be a good choice.
Clearly the guy likes the Harley brand. I would like the Harley if it was a better motorcycle with better components and more standard and option features. It’s just too much money for what it is.
I take that back someone at work just got a new Harley Davidson and it was leaking oil the next week with only 400 miles on it why would you buy a air cooled engine. the technology is the 1970s
your right at 1400 k the oil had 1384 parts of copper and Harley said they seen that before , at 5000 k i still had copper in the oil and at 9300 k i was going through oil like you cant believe dealer said 2 to 3 weeks to repair , 6 weeks later i got the bike back ,put on 1200 in 4 day's then it snowed , the 2013 road glide working great , it seem Harley Crop need to tell the dealer what to do ,then they take it apart , then the Corp needs picture and a engineer has a look when he has time ,then tills you to order the parts he tells you to order ,then you wait . i check with dealer in the USA and they get the same run a round , a dealer in the USA repaired a bike but did not get paid because he did not get the repair order number , sad Harley trained mechanic don't get the repair your bike until the Corp looks and give you the go ahead I THINK HARLEY IN TROUBLE when you don't trust you trained mechanic's and that poor Harley Service and this is the new way of business
the most disappointing thing is that you bought a new bike which engine failed before even you broke in!That I had only saw in aprilia v4 engines which continue to fail for different reasons after 8 years of constant developing the same bike!!!It seems there is no appropriate feedback between the factory and the service shops in both cases.
English is obviously a second language for both of you. Thanks for taking the time to post your opinions in English. I own a Harley here in the U.S. and I know how expensive they are here, but I was wondering what the Harley featured in your video would sell for in Europe? I imagine it's quite expensive.
The Harley rider has a nice voice and is pleasant to listen to. Moreover, he was very respective of the bmw. You should invite him more often. I think the beauty and the curse about Harleys is that, you can't really compare them to anything else. They are simply in a different world. You either want to live in that world and explore it or you don't. The more I look at the Harleys, the harder it is becoming to resist their appeal. To me, looks wise the Harley is superior. With all the technology that the bmw does have, I do believe that the majority of people will only explore 10% of it - so why bother. I'll take character and looks anytime and the Harley has it in spades.
BMW is not made to impress a Harley-Davidson owners, but to show them how thing should be done... 6 cilinders for perfectly smooth ride is not comparable with V2 and its vibrations, but comparing is not point at all because of specific american traffic rules, maybe just Grand America which is limited on 100 mph for american market is comparable... trully, HD with its interior design is good only for retired truckers, because of familiar working environment... they like slow driving and truck-a-like cockpit.
They are a nice bike. I almost got one in 2002. They released them a little late that year. I was told by a dealer that they redid the cooling system and it had cooling problems in Death Valley. It delayed the release date. I got a BMW RT 1150 instead. Good bike, had a rear end issues but got that straight. I put 140k on it, it served me well. I have no reason to believe the ST1300 would have done the same. That V-4 is nice, ride safe!
I like the BMW and I'm sure it's an awesome bike but I'm pretty sure the Honda Goldwing would be a better bike. All these years I could have easily purchased either one but every time I buy a new motorcycle I buy a Harley. It's just preference. I say purchase what you like, take care of it, and get out there and ride.
yes your right , the K1600GTL with out look like a great sport bike with a normal ride position , check out when you disable \the traction control it turn in to cat walk city .all the power to the wheel
The BMW for retired sportsbike riders, and the HD for touring and comfort? I think/know that the BMW is a hybrid for the one who can't choose between power/touring and a powerhouse with a lot of torque.
Had both. BMW would fly, when it wasn't at the dealership for electrical problems, 6 times. Harley, slow laid back, but dependable. Kept Harley got rid of BMW, tired of walking.
Back in the days, I used to enjoy my rides on Japanese bikes and really have fun when stopping at traffic lights looking at Harley Davidson bikes shaking watching the riders like having a vibration kind of a massage lol, after buying my K1600, Im enjoying every inch of my ride, never going back, will upgrade to a K1600 bagger after putting maybe 100K miles on this babe I have
I went from a 2nd gen Kawasaki KLR-650 to a 2018 K1600 GTL. Talk about going from a tractor to the ultimate riding machine! (Yes I kept the KLR, for offroad riding.)
I sold my bmw #3 because of not enough dealers close by and it took a few weeks and was typically very expensive. Now I'm on my second hd no issues yet great dealer network and numerous private shops who are former hd techs. Great parts availability and a excellent aftermarket selection. Stay away from corporate dealerships if possible, u have to spend time finding a good dealership. My favorite one is 100 miles away, but if neccessary i can use my hometown stealership, but overall i prefer hd, i luv guzzis, ducati triumphs bmw but not enough dealers and highly trained technicians 4 me. I'll stay hd...
8:58 how many full-face helmets can you fit on those bags again? I so much prefer a slower opening, but being able not to carry my proper helmet around...
I wasn't expecting this... this is a really great review. Being a Harley guy myself who also loves the speed and fun of sport touring bikes... I have one of them but want both. Price being a factor... the Yamaha FJR will have to suffice for the sport side.
I was thinking about the Harley Roadglide for past couple years ..... recently ( 3 weeks ago ) discovered the K 1600 B Bought one last night ! w/ 700 Fico score you can get 0 % A.P.R. / 5 yrs. !! ( limited time though , only on ‘18’s )
I would rather have that Road Glide!! Hands down!! Much more awesome looking. So what that it’s not as fast! I wouldn’t ride the Road Glide to be racing anybody. If I wanted to be riding super fast, I would use my Ducati StreetFighter V4S which will blow this BMW K1600 B away. The Road Glide is for very comfortable cruising cross country. It has plenty enough power.
Nice conversation between the guys....Obviously the BMW is a technically advanced motorcycle that does everything it was built for very well, the Harley is fine for cruising around on American roads but would be a major disappointment if you ever tried to cruise a German highway at 120+ not to mention flat ass dangerous :-)
Harley customers don't care about other bikes and they don't care about technical aspects of a Harley. They have the looks and the brand in their mind and this is what they want, nothing else. It is like a child referring to every sports car as a "Ferrari", even if it is a red Toyota MR2.
That's a silly thing to post. I ride a '17 Road King, but I'm *very* interested in the k 1600 b. I've not ridden the BMW, but I would expect it to be a more "athletic" bike and perform better than the RK in a sport sense. As a newer rider (4 years) who rides an HD, I pay attention to all makes and models. Every, and I mean every manufacturer makes something that I would be intrigued enough with to at least throw a leg over and try. I choose to ride an HD, but I am not brand loyal.
Who gives a flying fck about torque, its way an awesome harley,my 2016 roadglide is still my wet dreams at 26000kms. Unless you have spent some time on a harley you cant give an honest comparison on this bmw.
BMW will do everything better (except it won't feel like a beautiful classic characterful bike) and more efficiently while it works; Harley is Harley and if you buy that than you've convinced yourself that's what you want, as this guy clearly has. Both cruise well enough . I'd quite like both of them depending on my mood if money's no object, but it is, so Goldwing all the way! Reliable and good honda.
Wright walker you're right. I owned f6b loved it.Then bought 19 wing , meh.Sold it and bought the BMW 1600b ,love it like it's sport tourer .However I know doubt the wing more reliable .My wife liked the f6b as did I most underrated motorcycle ever in my opinion. Safe riding
What I find very strange is why you yourself didn't take the Harley for a ride review as you are best at providing unbiased reviews, than asking him what he thinks of his Harley!
The harley guy sounds like he has a lot of buyers remorse, but he is not openly admitting that the harley is like crap compared to the beamer. Who wants to throw that much dough on a bike, for vibrations?
Want technology Go for the BMW ,want a lifestyle n cult status go for HD, let's not compare a real function and performance company presenting a bike to a fashion era Star... there is nothing in common. Harley Davidson is not even bothering to share performance specific numbers.....
I have a Road Glide. Love it. I want a K1600B, but...that leg position kills me. Cant use the shift lever from the floorboards at least not on the one I sat on at the dealer.
It will be interesting to compare reliability. what will happen to them after 100,000 km. I bet that BMW will have a much lower residual value. BMW and Harley are two offspring of marketing. you need to add to this three Honda Goldwind
Which of these bikes will sell more? My guess is the Harley. I think most of the people cross shopping these two bikes are over 50 and are more interested in comfort than hp and speed. It would be a fun experiment to own both and see which one I put more miles on.
Harley Davidson does two things really really good their motorcycles look good sound good but from there on downhill they are for the weekend rider not a true motorcycle enthusiast that wants to get out and tear up a couple hundred milesAnd he doesn't care about riding with 50 other people and going from bar to bar
Comparing a K model BMW with a Harley Davidson Road Glide is akin to comparing a new Mercedes Benz AMG C 63 S Sedan with a pristine 69 Dodge Charger Daytona. If only we could still buy the 69 Dodge Charger! We can buy a 2021 114 ci Road Glide and/or Street Glide!
I have to call bullshit. that harley is not more comfortable than a beemer. I just sold my harley and bought a BMW and the quality of The Bmw is far better than any Harley
The BMW wipes the Harley off the map. I LOVE old tractors but don't want an old tractor engine in my bike.
can you compare an f-16 to a stearman cropduster ?

The side bags of the K1600B cannot store my helmet like my R1200RT but the HD will not either. I am not a big fan of the side bag opening on the BMW (R1200RT and K1600B) because you need to buy bag inserts to keep the contents from falling out of the bag. When you open the bag there is just an opening with a slick hard plastic surface and the contents can and will fall out. On my R1200RT I purchased a top case that opens from the top and it is my go to option for storage. I like the HD side bags better because the bag lids open from the top and not the side.

I'm not a big fan of side opening bags as well, for the reason you mentioned. However, the K1600 (not sure if K1600B is same) bags come off, so I think that's an exception. You can walk into the hotel like it's a suitcase, and lay it on its side, and not worry about anything falling out.

From the front the BMW looks like an owl or a praying Mantis. The HD looks like Bender from Futurama.

Having owned both multiple BMW and several Harley- I would pick the BMW everyday!!
Joseph Marton you going to use all that warranty with the Harley.
Until a 18k service was when i sold mine.

and? its not built to be a fast bike.

actually you are pretty wrong, even the stock 114 first pulls away from K1600B and the K1600B will pass the Road Glide at around 150-160kmh and will slowly walk away from Road Glide. But then again we are above legal speed limit in most countries anyway. And the M8 stage IV is showing the taillight to this BMW up to 200kmh. Its not a huge difference but its so. While people think that K1600 is insanely fast, its just the sound of the 6 cylinder that makes them think it is...
Hey look. Two wild and crazy guys.
Comparing the k1600gt with this harley is an insult to bmw
How is that? BMW is cheaper better built, requires less mods to ride, better tech, more power torque, heated seats & Grips. I could go on but I have to find someone to buy my 2011 Street glide fast
@@UncleFjester bmw deserves better bikes to go against
so true Harley keep them
I own a 2015 K1600 GT (orange) and a 2014 Road King CVO (also orange).
1 down?
I own the Honda Trail 90. It has automatic shifting, gets over 100MPG, and it's light enough to pick up. Chicks dig it, especially
with how big it makes me look while I'm on it.
I’d trade up in heartbeat.
you'd fit nice on this BMW.
You should check out the Yamaha Eluder 😃
K1600B Grand America or K1600GTL....
If you don't fit on a K1600 Grand America, then you seriously should consider your life habits. My dad 2,03 meter 120 kg fits like charm on that bike.
Never one problem other than ware and tare.
i have just googled the K1600GTL without bags, and it looks amazing!
i don't remember saying the Harley was a fast bike ,so whats your point ,if you don't like cruiser bikes
that's your problem . the great thing is people get to ride what they wish , have your self a great day
wear and tear
Go to the BMW forums and see what repair costs on those problematic bikes cost. The Bimmers always go up for sale right around when the warranty is about to be up or and extended one is added to help sale.
If I were to choose, it would be BMW all the way. I'm done with Harley.
Frank Malone ...bye Felica!
$400 for a headlight replacement.
You're doing parts wrong if youre paying that much
ttgk I personally have never had that experience. They do try to add on s*** you don't need there's no question but that's dealer pressure and that applies to most dealerships really
Agreed after the last experience I had with Harley I won't be buying from them ever
Simply personal preference. I love both bikes for different reasons. No reason imo to make it a competition.
as one who as owned many models of both i can tell you its the hd guys that make it a competition. i think they protest too much
This is no competition; BMW smokes the rattle-trap Harley.
I'm not sure why people insist on comparing these two? Obviously, if you're looking for a canyon carver, the BMW is the superior bike. If you prioritize style, comfort and utility in your touring, the HD is the pick. I think the owner said it best, "there's a place for both in my garage."
I'll take the R1200GSA
No comparison... I've owned both. The BMW is basically a Super Bike disguised as a American Bagger. Although I'm partial to the BMW because of it's superior performance. The HD is about character and I'm connected to it.
its a touring bike, not meant to be fast. numb nuts. Also, so what if it went back to single cam. its got 4 valve heads now.
and the M8 is very smooth running. It is not slow off the line either.
Good luck.
congrats, you ride a touring bike like a crotch rocket. no one cares.
Too bad you didn't have a 2018 Goldwing to add to the comparison - would have been interesting to hear your opinions.
Next year!
Caz Gerald I had a wing I hated it
Wally Fronzaglio
You wouldn’t hate the 2018 GoldWing. Guaranteed. See one and go Ride one and you will be amazed at it’s handling.
Road Glide your probably right I had a 95 wing I didn't like the riding position on it but it had superior quality to anything else
Caz Gerald I didn't like the balance and riding position especially with a passenger on the back !
Harley never quote horsepower for a reason.
"Grab the acceleration...with good vibration." Two wild and crazy guys!
I have a 2017 Stage IV Road Glide and a 2018 K1600B. I love riding both of them!
Why compare ? Two very different bikes ......
Nick Spong both baggers
Both are commonly cross shopped.
Seriously? This is like comparing a Ferrari with an Edsel.
If you only ride on highways then one of these would be a good choice.
abs, dtc... get a car then :)
Harleys are just to expensive and common
Yea I don't believe that for a second lol
your right at 1400 k the oil had 1384 parts of copper and Harley said they seen that before , at 5000 k i still had copper in
the oil and at 9300 k i was going through oil like you cant believe dealer said 2 to 3 weeks to repair , 6 weeks later
i got the bike back ,put on 1200 in 4 day's then it snowed , the 2013 road glide working great , it seem Harley Crop
need to tell the dealer what to do ,then they take it apart , then the Corp needs picture and a engineer has a look
when he has time ,then tills you to order the parts he tells you to order ,then you wait . i check with dealer in the USA
and they get the same run a round , a dealer in the USA repaired a bike but did not get paid because he did not
get the repair order number , sad Harley trained mechanic don't get the repair your bike until the Corp looks
and give you the go ahead I THINK HARLEY IN TROUBLE when you don't trust you trained mechanic's and that
poor Harley Service and this is the new way of business
the most disappointing thing is that you bought a new bike which engine failed before even you broke in!That I had only saw in aprilia v4 engines which continue to fail for different reasons after 8 years of constant developing the same bike!!!It seems there is no appropriate feedback between the factory and the service shops in both cases.
Former HD owner and now BMW K1600b owner. If you like spending over 24 grand for tractor and 1970 technology, HD is where it is at.
I have a third way: Honda ST1300, that I own. Ride safe, guys!
I'm grateful that we have so many choices in motorcycles!
yes your right , the K1600GTL with out look like a great sport bike with a normal ride position , check out when you disable \the traction control it turn in to cat walk city .all the power to the wheel
I’ll take my K1600 GT over both of them.
Love the way they review those bikes. Not biased
How can I get those handlebars for the 1600B
The BMW for retired sportsbike riders, and the HD for touring and comfort? I think/know that the BMW is a hybrid for the one who can't choose between power/touring and a powerhouse with a lot of torque.
Had both. BMW would fly, when it wasn't at the dealership for electrical problems, 6 times. Harley, slow laid back, but dependable. Kept Harley got rid of BMW, tired of walking.
So Goldwing is best of both worlds I think.
BMW all the way, Harley are a great brand but as a technical machine they are well behind the curve
On purpose
I use 2 say i ride a bmw because I can't afford a harley Davidson...
I so much prefer a slower opening, but being able not to carry my proper helmet around...
the helmet fits in the top bag just fine
Best final thought of any comparison video ever “magic carpet and broomstick!!”
Total disrespect
Great review as always😃
I wasn't expecting this... this is a really great review. Being a Harley guy myself who also loves the speed and fun of sport touring bikes... I have one of them but want both. Price being a factor... the Yamaha FJR will have to suffice for the sport side.
I was thinking about the Harley Roadglide for past couple years ..... recently ( 3 weeks ago ) discovered the K 1600 B
Bought one last night ! w/ 700 Fico score you can get 0 % A.P.R. / 5 yrs. !!
( limited time though , only on ‘18’s )
do they have an english version of this vid ?
Century XXI vs Century XX. Harley must update
Style = road glide
Comfort = bmw
Let's be honest, it's not even a competition for BMW. Harley just sells you the name
Great sensible review. Thank you
What's the fuel capacity of both and how many miles per gallon
The K 1600 is 7gal. @ 41mpg
I beleive the same but BMW is made like crotch rocket harley old man bike
If the average IQ is 100... how many people are below average? A lot. This is the HD customer.
No not a good comparison. But they both do what they do well....
If ur a big guy get a hd road glide limited, it rides awesome...
This Harley road glide has a maximum torque of111 FT-LB, and not 153 as the guy claims!
he stated torque in newton-meters which is the metric equivalent of foot-pounds. 153 newton-meters is accurate.
Who gives a flying fck about torque, its way an awesome harley,my 2016 roadglide is still my wet dreams at 26000kms.
Unless you have spent some time on a harley you cant give an honest comparison on this bmw.
Always good videos.
BMW all the way.
Ive got a Bmw and a harley. both I like. I do all mechanical repairs. Done about 200,000 on bmw. 85000 on harley. both are reliable as fuck.
Haha as soon as I heard HD's noise it was an instant nope for me even though I must say the HD looks amazing.
Great review but it would be better if they road each other's bikes then commented.
Its really a ford chevy thing, both good / bad, pros/cons, & go about things differently, variety is the spice of life...
I went from an 18 Utra to the Grand America. I have not missed the Ultra
Kinda like comparing a Cadillac Escalade to a McClarin lol 😂
Totally different
This k1600b is what i would call a sport cruiser
The harley guy sounds like he has a lot of buyers remorse, but he is not openly admitting that the harley is like crap compared to the beamer. Who wants to throw that much dough on a bike, for vibrations?
BMW bag is a deal killer. We want a can with a lid to cram more stuff in there. Sorry BMW , even Victory redid their bags
The commercial for the bike prior to the video is really really bad
Want technology Go for the BMW ,want a lifestyle n cult status go for HD, let's not compare a real function and performance company presenting a bike to a fashion era Star... there is nothing in common. Harley Davidson is not even bothering to share performance specific numbers.....
nice video
let's join us and get more information about motorcycle
Harley Davidson does two things really really good their motorcycles look good sound good but from there on downhill they are for the weekend rider not a true motorcycle enthusiast that wants to get out and tear up a couple hundred milesAnd he doesn't care about riding with 50 other people and going from bar to bar
what? the baggers are built specifically for eating up miles. bar hoppers ride dynas and sportsters.
Eh, I will take my Rocket GT over either bike by a large margin. But both are nice.
Motociclete super, voi sunteti simpatici si engleza voastra... Am ras de m-am stricat! Parca sunteti amandoi fii lui Iliescu LOL!
Ai pus punctul pe i, sa mor eu:))
The Germans vs the Cowboys... I choose the cowboy's , coz the Vtwin is never dies!!!!!! Absolutely nice sounds...
Apples and Oranges.... I like them both.
I am not a harley hater, but the BMW is in a different league.
I have to call bullshit. that harley is not more comfortable than a beemer. I just sold my harley and bought a BMW and the quality of The Bmw is far better than any Harley
Are you guys knowing Borat???
I think the goldwing would compare better to the Harley.
