Berserk is a modern day masterpiece and will go down as one of the greatest pieces of graphic storytelling of all time. RIP Miura, you absolute legend.

It's a cult classic master piece, it's been around for almost 30 years BUT I get what you mean. I worry about modern fans trying to change it.

Berserk is litterrally my favorite work of fiction.
F for Miura. A true, hardworking, inspirational artist. I got into the series after those Dark Horse editions came out, and I'm happy Berserk came into my life when it did, "no matter what you choose, truth is, both regret and reluctance are going to follow you around." Shout out to the strugglers; thanks Miura for illustrating the beauty in the struggle!

I have tought of bying them but there is so many that I know I cannot stop myself when I start 😅 I have the first Hellsing deluxe, there is only 3 so it's much more compact to get them. I have over 500 dvd's, comic books and books and blabla and it takes space and goddamn it is a soab when moving.

1. BERSERK is NOT avail on Netflix for most (this was filmed prior to Dec 1st)
2. I’m wrong about the Berserk movies, they have some wonky scenes here and there but the animation isnt THAT BAD and it’s WAYYYY better than the 2016…which is ACTUALLY BAD. (I hadn’t watched a the 2016 stuff prior to filming, watched it afterward and while I appreciate that they stay pretty true to the comic and it covers new ground…big yikes on the animation)

I felt the same way about "House of the Dragon." 🐲 I was very surprised when this show was good. I completely agree with you about King Viserys. He was such a sad and tragic character. To struggles so hard to keep the peace and all along, he's settings and the necessary blocks for his family and kingdom to crumble.

YOOOOOO I never thought Danika would cover berserk of all things. It's genuinely my favorite work of all time. The continued content that Studio Gaga has put out is also pretty solid despite miura's untimely passing. I definitely feel his loss but it's pretty good considering.
I'm so glad to see you got around to Berserk. It really might be the greatest unfinished piece of medieval fiction there is.

Berserk is just my all time favourite Dark fantasy.
I love The Witcher, George RR Martins works on Westeros BUT, nothing has terrified and made me so fascinated then Berserk has..
The world is so deep and so unknown. Combinations of Lovecraft, Schopenhauer or Nietzsche.
Very deep and terrifying realities and with that, it all bends down to Trauma and not just from the horrible abominations but with real horrifying concepts that happen to humans and about pushing through and becoming much more and seeing these characters and Guts, change through out. So well done.
I just wanna thank Kentaro Miura for his work and sharing it with us, I’m still reading Berserk and haven’t finished all of it but I’m appreciating Miura more and more. What a Chad. 💪

Don’t get me wrong I do like House of the Dragon as I’ve always been a fan of the stories in Westeros and it is the best TV show out there right compared to the other crap in my opinion.

Had no idea how I was missing this type of videos. Phenomenal as always, Danika!
Got into Berserk back in the 90's when the original anime came out. Then started reading the manga through scanlations. Now that the manga is being released in Deluxe format I've been buying them all as the come out. Still volumes 12 and 13 to go and it looks like we may be getting a volume 14 now that the series has been taken over by the late Miura's friend, who is the only person Miura told how the series was going to end.
Yep...I didn't get to watch berserk until 1999. Love it. Never looked back. I have 3 versions of it.
Your editing and production skills just keep getting better every video. Of course your scripts are still stellar and you continue to deliver some kooky bits every video. Always enjoy your work👍🙌

to the people new to Berserk I strongly STRONGLY recommend the manga over the anime options. The 90s anime is good (iconic music imo) but it only covers maybe 1/5th of the story, and Kentaro Miura was well known to be a perfectionist with his art so you will be missing out on some of the most beautiful comic/manga panels you've ever seen. Maybe use the 90s anime to get you into it then read it after you're hooked!

You got me excited at Berserk. On one hand I wish more people were into it, but then again I've witnessed enough of my favourite things get butchered on the screen in the past half a decade or so to be careful for what I wish for.
This and ASOIAF are such big sources of catharsis for me, they're therapeutic in a way.

FINALLY someone talks about Criston Cole's lack of aging! As much as I love the actor in this role, it makes no sense to age up Rhaenyra and Alicent, and then later on their children, and he still looks the same! I just think of it as he must have REALLY good genes in order to try to make it make sense.

I found my way to Berserk through the Dark Souls games. The artwork is does it for me so, so much, it's so fucking good! So happy to see Danika into it and collecting those sweet as collected volumes!!

Nice glad you checking out Berserk. You will love it. Dark fantasy at its finest. If you want to read a crazy dark story with sorcerers and magic, amazing art and a really detailed gritty world, check out Dorohedoro. It is my second favorite Seinen manga after Berserk and I highly recommend it.

Berserk and its influences (Dark Souls n AoT) have literally saved my life. You might call their stories depressing but that darkness and fighting through it is what inspired me to keep living and now I love life! I truly believe I wouldnt be here today without Berserk. I never cry or feel bad about celebrity deaths, but I cried when Miura died.

What a treat of a video! I think the best thing that the modern anime did for Berserk was to give Susumu Hirasawa a reason to compose more music, seriously worth a listen while reading the manga! Signs, Blood and Guts, Forces, etc. Amazing stuff!
