4:01 to 4:06 Fun fact: The actor was asked in a Comic Con what practical effects were used for the back scene and he replied that there are no effects, he was just contorting himself, the magic is in the zoom and sound to make it look more grotesque.
I've always hated the "dying villain who acts out of necessity or survival" trope. Especially in this film. This is because it makes him a victim, not a villain, and because it makes Peter, the hero, pathologically unsympathetic. He was willing to let his best friend die without even trying to save him when it was probably solely within his power to do so. There's just no excuse for that.
@@jonathonpolk3592 it's not a bad trope in general. Pretty good and solid reason to become a villain - to survive, plain and simple. But I agree that specifically here Peter just shown as a really strange dude who while being genius scientist and having the cure literally run through his veins, didn't even try to help his dying friend, just refused repeatedly "just because" and ignored him lol
I agree however….on Harry I disagree. Gwen had nothing to do with that shit. An he got her killed all to get back at Spider-Man…for what. An the ironic thing is even if Peter had given his blood to Harry it wouldn’t have cured him anyway. Because the spider venom could only work for someone who had Peter’s father DNA So even if Peter gave Harry his blood, it could have made Harry’s condition worse.
In every single universe harry Osborn is going through something. Him being sick, him hating Spider-Man for killing his dad, him thinking his father doesn’t love him, him trying to to get his father to see him and him trying to be the goblin. I’m just saying in every show, cartoon, movie or game he’s always going through something.
Well Norman sees Harry as a disappointment but saw more potential in Peter even before he became Spider-Man which made Harry envious of Peter and why their friendship is strained. And Norman is cold and calculating, he never told Harry he loved him or even said that he liked him. So, Harry tries to prove himself and win his father's approval
In the TASM universe the reason the Spider-Venom worked on Peter when the Spider bit him was because His father Richard made the Spiders as a potential cure to help Norman Osborn, but when he found out about the Dark Conspiracy Oscorp was going to use the Cross-Species genetics for that he and Doctor Connors worked on he destroyed all his research and tried to leave the country, The Spiders were the most promising cure but the reason they never worked on anyone else but Peter was because Richard sequenced the Genome to only work with the Parker DNA, hence Peter wasn't affected the way Harry was and gained the powers to be Spider-Man, the reason Oscorp couldn't re-code the Spider-Venom was because Richard destroyed all of his research so Oscorp couldn't use it for the Biological weapons that they had made a deal with for a foreign military power to fund Richard's research, and they killed Richard and Mary Parker for betraying them so the guy who created the Spider-Venom was gone. Yeah long winded explanation but that"s the way the lore was written for the TASM Universe
@@CAPEDCRUSADER3900if we think about it, why Peter's father don't lock it to Osborns DNA? Venom will be still not working on others but Osborns family, and Norman can be cured. I mean, Peter's father just as cruel to Osborns family as Peter later
@@darkpartizan Probably because Oscorp would've still found a way to weaponize it, even if it was restricted only to Norman's DNA. They'd still remove Richard from the picture and then keep experimenting with Norman or Harry to find a way to replicate it. Given that some mysterious 'foreign military organization' was funding the project, I doubt they'd even care about what happens to the Osborns as long as they get their weapons in the end.

There a bunch of explanations besides obvious filming process. At first, every villain (even if they had redemption in the original films) got transported to MCU before their moment of death. So maybe Harry still alive in TASM universe. And maybe he's not a villain anymore, just prisoner, who repented his actions on Peter. But well, we lost a interesting line, if when Osborn said "there is no even my son" or something like this, and then new Goblin comes around
@@darkpartizan it is entirely possible that he’s alive and repenting. We saw at the end of tasm 2 that the suit he wore had caused his disease to begin healing which I guess restored his sanity and normal body.So maybe with enough time to think it over he did in fact repent.

Defoe had a great perfomance to portrait a fully mentally unstable version of Goblin. Anyway, we still never got an Ultimate version, which looks similar to Abomination, by the way, big, green and ugly. I mean, original GG never was about physiology, it was about psychology
