      Jaguar XJL is a rare car, compared to Mercedes, BMW, those cars are overpriced, overrated taxis now, jaguar stayed true to their purpose and styling cues as a true luxury sedan. Everytime I see one, it's rare beauty...everyone stares. I love those saloons.

    XJ was an absolute beauty, especially with those rear tail lights that made the german cars look dated.The XJR575 is a weapon and would want one over any rivaling luxury car today. It ousted the 7 Series and A8 by a landslide. If it was going to continue being the same crummy round lighted car for old grand dads, Jaguar will be dead today, and im glad Ian Callum updated and created a beautiful segment of cars when he did.
    Now, while this new guy has scapped the XJ because it was trying to rival BMW Merc and Audi, they have now said their competition for 2025 onwards is infact Porsche and Bentley in the EV sector. If they could barely rival Merc BMW and Audi at the present, they now want to go against the even bigger leagues. Stupid move? Potentially....

    I can bet a million you've never owned an XJ, or known anyone who has. You've never driven one - even for a Test drive at a Dealership or at the very least been inside one while it was moving.
    You can never compare that car to anything by BMW or Mercedes - and I have personally owned both the 7series and the S Class. One thing I can tell you for free though is - Mercedes Benz new designs are now copying the XJ look.
    The XJ is in a league of its own - that's why people who've owned an XJ always have a problem finding another sedan to upgrade to. Most of the time they just end up buying a newer model XJ, or SUV or just a 2 door drop-top.
    The real problem JAGUAR has with this car is that it's too good - for its own good.
    It's a known fact that most Car dealerships and manufacturers don't make money on the Front end - but rather make their money on the back end.
    However, when a Client buys an XJ - they won't be buying another car for the next 7-10yrs, they won't even have a need to upgrade. This makes it almost impossible to get that Customer back in the door to buy again - or make a repeat purchase.
    In this case, the only way the company can get a constant stream of revenue from the same client is to hike up the Prices for Parts, Repairs and Maintenance - which in turn not only leads to a high-levels of client dissatisfaction and a higher number of customer complaints, but also makes the Cost of Ownership insanely high - thereby making the XJ less attractive to potential new buyers, and less competitive in the market.
    If this was only about low Sales numbers then TRUST me - JAGUAR could easily higher a large pool of Marketing and Advertising agencies to solve that problem.

The car still looks modern despite inception in 2010. Has been utterly reliable to boot. Jaguar has lost me as a new car customer now as nothing in their current range I find appealing versus the XJ X351......what a shame they dropped the XJ all electric as I was looking to that as the next car.

    People didn't buy the XJ for all the tech stuff. They bought it based on the British elegance it exuded. The fact that it's not only luxurious , but a driver's car added to its appeal. People that like XJ's won't just turn around and think a BMW or Mercedes is automatically better. The XJ had its own special character, one that, in my opinion, makes the Mercedes look rather staid and boring. I still plan to get one. Used XJ's are such a bargain that it's just a no-brainer for me.

      @craig6t 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amritthind6654 Yes, Jaguar had a history of problems when they were owned by Ford from 1999 to 2008, when they were sold to Tata. Even with Ford was using a lot of plastic engine parts (go figure), they lost money. Tata continued to help Jag refine their cars, so they really got much better, I'd say, after 2012. This is when Jag brought in a lot of new features, like adaptive suspension, etc. Look for one with a service history and a return guarantee. Have a good mechanic check it out; you should be OK.

    I think Jaguar could end up back were they were a long time ago which is their competitors were selling thousands more cars than they were and they were loosing so much money. I'll be honest I'm not really sold on the whole battery cars are the future thing but I believe sometimes u may have to do what's selling not what u want to sell to survive, but I guess we will never know till it happens. Also ppl always JLR products are really unreliable and honestly they really aren't as bad as ppl make them out to be. I know friends who have like BMW and Mercedes and JLR vehicles and the german cars tend to have the problems where as the jaguars and land rovers have almost no problems, it's not what u drive its how u drive sometimes.

    Environmentally thinking across the globe is what causes this type of thinking. Since the 2013 version that offered a smaller engine to appease anti fossil fuel consumers, Jaguar has ran away from its heritage of being from the race track to the dealer showroom in style but still powerful. TaTa is looking at sales numbers over branding, Jaguar means elegants, exclusive, power and prestige, not seen on the road daily. When people see a Jag its always been a head turner. A shame I really liked this dynamic and cool CJ and it’s sporty mannerisms in its class. I’m not against SUVs (I’m perfectly alright with them being Daily drivers), but sometimes I feel the emphasis on them is destroying the character in the car market. When was the last time you saw a Mercedes SL with a sunset in the backdrop, or a sport couple carving through a mountain road that tests its abilities? Now it’s all just the same boxes on wheels, capable as sone of them are.

I am just discussing why it has been discontinued completely in late 2020. In regards to the sells, Jag still sold their units in 2020. Even if Jag XJ still had average production numbers in 2021, they would still have sold less then the F-Type.

    I owned a 2010 XJ L Supersport until it sadly died. If Jaguar doesn’t want to make supercharged V8s or even an XJ at all anymore, that’s fine by me… I’ll just spend my money elsewhere. With a lot of tears in my eyes, but I’ll have to.

    What? The design language 2009 for xj was a superb success. The exhaust note will not be there in electric as its a v8 note.

    The XJ really died at the end of 2009 when the x358 was replaced by the x351. (Tin Hat now on). The x358 was the evolution of a classic which was killed off in all but name when the x351 replaced it. The classic XJ design should have been continually evolved because that design is more beautiful now than its ever been.

    It's dead because people are morons and want a sports car with 4 doors and leather seats, not a luxury car. As a disabled person, getting in and out of an SUV, especially to drive it, is really difficult. Sedans work best for me. It's bad enough that luxury cars got rid of the fantastic velour seats in the early 90s and everything looks cheap now. But now every luxury car emphasizes handling and road feel and how fun it is to drive. It's not fun when you have rods in your back and have to take Tylenol every 6 hours because the "luxury" car rides like a Ferrari or Corvette. The XJ was one of the few cars out there with leather seats that was actually comfortable and had a nice ride. If you want a sports sedan, get a sports sedan. All I want is a really comfortable luxury car with a touch screen, soft seats and a smooth ride. They used to come with V6, V8 and V12 engines, not for power, but for overall smoothness. Now we've got the jerky acceleration of a V6 turbo, if that. The last Jag I saw had a 4 cylinder turbo engine and that's embarrassing. I don't mind electric engines so much as long as they're soft and smooth, but trying to find a true luxury car that isn't $200,000 is really frustrating. I bought an E-Class Mercedes and had to sell it because it was so stiff. A stiff Mercedes? What is going on here? Can we just please tell the 16 year old heirs and heiresses who mommy and daddy are buying a car for that the world doesn't revolve around them?

    I had the 2011 XJL beautiful car, but horribly engineered. The temperature sensor sits in coolant, if you have a coolant leak, guess what, your not getting a reading of the actual engine temp, this caused mine to overheat and blow. Head gasket. $12k-$16k repair. Ended up selling the car as is for $4k. Not worth the repair. Only had 70k miles. Never ever again will I buy a Jaguar.

    But, yet their cars are not too reliable! But the styling is SPOT ON! I considered getting a Jag, but everyone who I known who had one got rid of them in the warranty period cause it was in at the dealership more than they were actually driving their own car! They always had a loaner car!

  • @jameskassolos4652
    @jameskassolos4652 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    for starters the reason that the XJ is dead is because people are no longer buying luxury sedans because today everybody wants to drive a truck. The new Defender by the way is the most sought after car in the world at the moment and in the process of being copied by every other brand for their twenty twenty four twenty five model years so if I were you Ide maybe want to do a little more research before randomly making statements. Now back to Jaguar. Jaguar does not compete with BMW or Mercedes Benz these are off the shelf prestige brands Jaguar is a low volume bespoke brand BMW manufactures around 5 million cars per year and Mercedes is around 4.5 million Jaguar manufactures around two hundred thousand vehicles Jaguar I pace has won over seventy automotive awards including best car in Europe (not just electric car best overall car) The highest demand for Jaguar at the moment is the SUV market so recourses have been diverted to satisfy demand. Jaguar F Pace won most beautiful SUV in Europe two years running and E Pace hold the Guinness Word book of records for the longest Spiral Jump which it achieved on it release. Gerry McGovern has taken over from Ian Callum as head of design for Jaguar and is currently in the process of redesigning the entire model range to electric. Gerry is a wonderful designer and has come across as head of design for Land Rover we wish him all the best and hope he manages the capture the spirit of the brand. Jaguar is more than just a car, its a ideal encapsulating grace, style, elegance and effortless power and performance, it is a privilege to own a Jaguar not a right.

  • @TheRjk76

    Jaguar should never have made an SUV, leave the boring school run stuff to Land Rover. The last version of the XJ was ugly. Jags are supposed to be sleek, cat like. That look like a hippo.
