I needed this video. This is the only video that shows the 3 wires. I was fishing around u til I found the very skinny gray wires with a black stripes. Completely corroded and flaked away at the tips. Stripped back some of the rubber covering the copper, twisted all three together, tightly taped it with electrical tape, and BAMM!... windows worked. Also, for those scared to pull back the black plastic that covers the harness, I was too, you just need to keep pulling and it will eventually flex backward without breaking the plastic. Once that's done look for the bad wires toward the middle/front area of the passenger foot well, they will be at the bottom. If both windows don't work, that's the solution. Again, thanks for the video!

Man you are awesome, I fixed a 2006 Range Rover Sport, and the wires colored (3 blackYellow with 1 red/Yellow) were corroded because of leaking son of the roof lol. Once repaired the connection, both front windows came alive. Appreciate your effort.

Thought I’d add my experience. Just picked up a 2006 RR sport (10/05 build date). My passenger front window would not do anything at all. Not even try. No sounds or clicks or anything, just DEAD. So, after watching this video, I went about pulling back my carpet like he did, and I was met with a massive bundle of wires that had tape wrapped around it to hold them all together. I first had to cut the tape, and fish my fingers through the wires until I found the same wires as in this video. For me, it was slightly different. The 3 little wires were not grey and black as the OP had stated on his car. Mine were a light yellow and black. Also different, mine wasn’t held together by blue tape. Mine were all bound by a black rubber plug looking thing that was very permanent. Nothing appeared corroded at all and the wires were fully intact. No water or residue either. I said what the hell and cut the rubber thing off the end anyways, then stripped off the insulation of each of the 3 wires, and re-twisted them together. To my surprise, I lit the key in, pushed the window switch, and it WORKED!
THANK YOU for making this video!
If anyone else goes in there, make sure you look for either 3 black and grey, or 3 yellow and black wires. It is the only set that are bound together by either tape or the rubber thing mine had. You may have to dig into the wire harness to find it. There’s what appears to be 100 different wires in that harness, so keep digging!
Last note. I didn’t remove any of the trims, I only loosened them an pulled them back.

Thanks, Adrian! This H20 penetration zone on these and other LRRRs also cause lots of other faults, too. Thanks for the video that adds to the growing online/youtube knowledge base on this subject!

Thanks for the video, Mate. Same problem, and a quick splice to the grey/black wires and drivers window is working again. BTW, I flooded the area with a plugged a/c drain. No corrosion evident anywhere, but sure enough that connector did have just a little corrosion on the outside - enough to break the circuit. I soldered and shrink wrapped.
Incidentally my old RR L320 is still going strong at 350k. Aside from this my only electrical issue has been the reverse sensors. Told it was the wire harness which I haven’t bothered to fix…yet

Thanks so much!!!!! I have spent hours tearing apart the driver's door, replaced motor to no avail. This fixed it!

Hey Adrian, thanks for the video. I have a 2006 RRS and my drivers and passenger windows stopped working too. Long story short, I had some leaking in my car from the sunroof. The passenger side drain is not working correctly. Anyway, I was finally able to get to the wire tray beneath the passenger side floor. As you mentioned in the video, the windows are controlled by the black and grey wires. I found the three black and grey wires with the blue tape. Pulled off the blue tape and the wires were not even connected. I spliced all three wires back together and the windows work great. I was little scared too, messing with all these wires. I was afraid I would break something else. Your video was very helpful and I must have watched it five times to build the courage. It all worked out. Mark

Had the same issue and had replaced the driver and passenger window switches as well as the motor with no luck. I found that damn wire, cut/spliced and BOOM, both windows work perfectly again. Thank you!!!

Hey, im struggling to get the black plastic piece that is over the wires off without breaking it. Any suggestions?

    • @arkivezaj
      @arkivezaj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

You have to just keep pulling back with it. I thought mine would break but you need to pry back it will eventually flex backward without breaking.

Which window was not working was it the passenger or driver ? Mine. Is depositing heavy amounts of water in driver's side. And now drivers side won't go down. All other sides are working

    • @chefmyles6237

Hello Namibia thank you for visiting my page. Both sides at one point weren’t working however all the wires for both sides goes through the passenger side. When you remove the covering you will see all the wires and then you can do your repairs.

    Hey A
    Goodday to you.
Question should this method and those same wires apply to the both back windows left & right?
My front both sides work but not the back. They go in and out of power when it wants to .
    Thanks

Thanks for viewing the video. To my knowledge all the wires go through that same bank of wires. So the back window wires are in that pile as well. Share you discovery with us.

I have the same problem. But on the driver side. So do i need to look on the driver side floor or the passengers side ? Im a lil confuse. Plus in my case the only one not working is the driver side and also have a water leak.

I believe all the wires are through the passenger side of the vehicle.
