I watched a few videos about cleaning dishwashers. This one is the most thorough and very helpful. It contains advice that the others don’t even mention. Thanks.
Thank you! You just helped me to fix my dishwasher. Tiny metal piece got stock in the umbrella, you won’t see it unless you drain the water and try to spin it, and it was only spinning one way, I asked why, then started examining it, and saw the small metal item, it was thin and sharp, once I pulled it out, the umbrella was spinning freely both ways, then I started the machine and it worked beautifully! Bingo! Thank you for your video!!!❤
The impeller check solved my E24 error. I did this once before maybe 2 years ago, but couldn't remember how to do it again. This worked perfectly. Thanks!
Nice video. Instead of using a sponge tor remove water from the drain (3:05), take advantage of the dishwasher's water draiinging feature that starts at the beginning of the risne (or anhy other) cycle. Just close the dishwasher, select a cycle, start the dishwasher, and open the door once you hear the water stop draining. Then turn the dishwasher off. Done! Also makes it easier to clean the drain of remaining sludge in the drain. You might also decide to drain, remove sludge, pour some more water in the drain, and repeat the drain cycle above.
This was such a good & clear & concise step-by-step (and humorous) video. Followed every step. Didn't solve my problem (not my drainage pipes either - those are all clear too), but who knew about that little propeller thingy stuck down at the back of the filter?! Now the blo*dy thing is showroom clean, it's gotta be a technical problem, and it's not even a year old! I hate high tech computery gadgets (Bosch Series 4) - somehow they all just end up blinking and passively swearing at me! Thank you so much for putting this together. Much appreciated. Will go check out some of your other videos a bit later.
@@LurgsHowToGuides I ended up dismantling & checking the micro-filter on the water supply hose too - the bit that attaches to my water supply. Both mini filters were squeaky clean too, so no blockage there either. However when I put everything back and plugged the machine back in after having turned the electricity off, the Bi*ch decided to work. I've run it twice now with both fingers and legs crossed. I'm wondering if it was a "computer glitch" and literally the ol' "turning it off, turning it on technique" (from the mains) solved the hang-up? It certainly wasn't dirt. (For anyone interested: My problem: 10 minutes into the rinse cycle after switching it on, the machine would stop, the digital time display would blink 00:00 and the red "tap" icon would light up, and the machine remained still with water in the bottom. If I switched off and tried again, the water would drain out, the rinse would start, and then stop at 10 minutes. So I knew the drainage worked, and water was flowing in to the machine, therefore pumps must be o.k. so it's all a complete mystery as to why - still! I can only think electronics.)

Thanks for the video. I decided to follow your instructions for my Bosch dishwasher. After using it for 18 months (and I don't know how it was maintained by previous owner), I was shocked that the filter had no debris on it. I filled the salt container at the same time. I didn't dare try other suggestions on your video just in case I broke something.
@@LurgsHowToGuides actually I never rinse anything. Guess I'm just lucky. But thanks to you, I now know how to check the filter which I will do regularly.
thanks i have watched several of your videos. just bought apt, very nice Bosch appliances. However, i think tenants who rented before i bought it never cleaned dishwasher and washer/dryer. Unfortunately they were left damp and closed up for ~ 3 months 😳😳😳😖. Thank you for showing me how to clean them up!! i gave a 👍🏻 and subbed. 🙏🏻🇺🇸
Thanks for your valuable video! I just got a second hand Bosch Series 2 dishwasher which didn't come with any maintenance instructions so I was very pleased to find your video. It helped confidently take it apart and clean it, although I used white vinegar instead of soap on a friend's recommendation.
I laughed out loud each time he mentioned the partners toothbrush! Imagine I was almost crying looking at my stinky dirty dish washer holding my phone in one hand the sponge on the other laughing 🤪🤪🤣🤣 exactly what I needed and I didn’t know I did!
9:13 when u run that cleaning liquid, u should wait for the pre rinse to finish off then open the dishwasher and put it in. Else it can get washed away within minutes with the pre rinse.
8:39 whats the difference between those two kind of inlet hoses? My old dishwasher had the bigger one at the right hand side while the latest one just has that simple thin hose at the left. What that big chunk supposed to do (one at the right) ?
@@LurgsHowToGuides mine came with a rly large separate filter like 3 inch big filter alone, that is connected with the ‘simple hose’. And i came to know that the larger one is a solenoid valve. It opens and closes water flow digitally controlled by dishwasher. In the models that come with just a simple hose, in those this is placed inside the dishwasher where the hose ends.
Take a shot every time he says “wife’s toothbrush” 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for this video! I’m cosidering a Bosch and this looks so easy to clean compared to what I had before
Thanks, I could not get filter and plate to sit properly and lock into place due to that white plastic part becoming unseated but thanks to your video i was able to reseat it and all is well.
Great vid. I have a Bosch. In the back right hand corner there is something metal that sticks up with what looks like a imprint in the metal of a hand. Any idea what it is?
Very helpful. Appreciate how you walked through to get to the impeller. Mine required removing a screw, not a clip, but just seeing what it is and how it works really helped. Found some very strange hard seeds in there.. perhaps the reason for the loud noise.
Yess I wanted to ask about this, I removed the clip but I can’t see what’s behind it as it’s hidden. I used a mirror to try to see but it’s further into the mechanism
You condensed all the other TH-cam videos I saw on cleaning the Bosch dishwasher plus more. We had a floor covered in suds and now we have nothing but clean dishes and a clean smelling dishwasher.
Plastic Fiter Screen Holder (5:48): There are couple of tabs that hold the plastic cylinder in place on the metal screen. Easy-squeezy for removal to make cleaning the flat metal screen and the plastic cylinder easier to clean (with your wife's toothbrush)
i had so much gunk in the spray arms that i had to tape up all but 1 of the little holes (leave the one closest to the outer edge of the arm open), then blasted an air compressor up the big opening. chunks of gunk came flying out of that little hole. once gunk stopped coming out of that hole, i taped that up and opened another hole and try again.
Concise and humorous, nicely done, but... When cleaning the spray arms, you (and I) are just knocking the food back into the inner spray arm and it will soon be blocking the holes again. Any way around that?
Dear Sir, Regarding the upper impeller. I have a Bosch Silence Plus 48 dBA the upper impeller is not freely spinning, it's almost as if the retaining screw is too forcing the impeller to be too close to the rack. Do you know what I'm supposed to do?

Hi, I have Bosch IQ300 built in dishwasher. Recently it has started giving problem. It start and stops 3 times with gurgling sound as it discharged the water and it then completely stops.when I open the door the top panel shows BRUSH sign. After resetting and starting again same thing happens again. However, if I put it in pans program, it works. So, it does not look like that there is any blockage in the drainage pipe. The filter is clear and we do run it with finish cleaner regularly. The dishwasher drainage pipe is connected to sink drainage section. Sink water runs fine. I don’t want to call the engineer and pay £120 plus parts as I would rather buy a new one with 5 years warranty for £500. Please advise what could be going wrong?
No as you can run it without Rinse Aid. Unfortunately it sounds like possibly a computer type fault. If it’s pretty old you will have to weigh up cost of possible repair and it could fail again or getting a new one
Thank you. The dishwasher is now 6 years old. if the control panel is faulty than part and Labour may cost more than half the cost of new. Also, another unrelated problem with parts will cost more again to repair. Therefore, it will make sense to buy new with 5 years guarantee. I would prefer DW which displays the ERROR CODE. any recommendations up to £600?
Our dishwasher has gotten like a red film covering the dishwasher, I'm assuming it's some Passata sauce or something but it's tinted all of the plastic red, is there anything that could be suggested to clean this? I've done a proper machine clean etc
When you remove the filter assembly there is a plastic sieve thing behind it held in place with a couple of tork screws. On my machine lots of debris accumulates below that. I removed the screws lifted it a bit and manually cleaned below it. The piece is held down by the spray duct. Can that be easily removed?
What's the point of a dishwasher cleaner if you are using detergent which cleans dishes inside of it? Wouldn't that same detergent clean your dishwasher? I mean I get that certain sized foot particles will clog things and that needs cleaning, but outside of that what does a dishwasher cleaner do that dishwasher detergent does not? If it's just about the smell wouldn't like throwing some lemon juice and hot water do the same thing or white vinegar or diluted bleach?
Just gives it a thorough clean through when it’s empty. Same reason we clean our houses with cleaning stuff, might look clean but is it really. We do ours every 3 months or so
My machine is the exact model. I've cleaned all you covered in this video EXCEPT that picture of a filter and I've run dish washer cleaner idk how many times now. The machine is still not cleaning and leaves "grit" and white film on my dishes. The worst is plastics. What else can I do ?
My Bosch silenceplus dishwasher isn't cleaning the top level very well at all... I've checked all the sprayer hole for blockages and everything looks really clean .... What could be the issue ? Thanks for anyone who can help
Follow the sprayer tube back and make sure it connects properly at the back and that it is clear of debris. Run a dishwasher cleaning programme with proper cleaner and empty th-cam.com/video/DEknDV_QW4s/w-d-xo.html
That's exactly the problem I have... I did all the video suggestions for cleaning but didn't help. My glasses and mugs are not clean at all, it seems the water is not getting up into the glasses/mugs very well at all, dried on stains inside.
Maybe poke those irritating pieces of debris with a needle so they get smaller and can be flushed out. Ridiculous that you can’t open up the sprayer arm.
Thank you- this was very helpful! The only problem left for me to figure out is where a crescent- shaped plastic black piece fits back near the filter (I think).

@@Gyanankurschool Thanks, glad you enjoyed 😎
Perfect. Thank you
Glad to help.😎
Take a shot every time he says “wife’s toothbrush” 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for this video! I’m cosidering a Bosch and this looks so easy to clean compared to what I had before
That's a fair few shots! Ours has been pretty good although to be honest there isn't much to them. As long as you keep the filter clean.
Great that worked so easily, thanks
Glad it worked 😎
Thanks, I could not get filter and plate to sit properly and lock into place due to that white plastic part becoming unseated but thanks to your video i was able to reseat it and all is well.
Great news. Glad to help. Merry Christmas 🎄😎
Brilliant video, thank you I've just subscribed
Glad to help and thank you for subscribing 😎
Thanks for a tips, especially the recommendation using partners brush 😂
Yeh they are very handy! 😎
Great vid. I have a Bosch. In the back right hand corner there is something metal that sticks up with what looks like a imprint in the metal of a hand. Any idea what it is?
Not got that on ours. No idea I'm afraid.
Very helpful. Appreciate how you walked through to get to the impeller. Mine required removing a screw, not a clip, but just seeing what it is and how it works really helped. Found some very strange hard seeds in there.. perhaps the reason for the loud noise.
Thanks for the info, not seen a screw on the impeller. Glad I could help. 😎
Yess I wanted to ask about this, I removed the clip but I can’t see what’s behind it as it’s hidden. I used a mirror to try to see but it’s further into the mechanism
Access is tricky. Try drying it out as much as you can then get a vacuum cleaner nozzle down it to see if it can suck out any debris
You condensed all the other TH-cam videos I saw on cleaning the Bosch dishwasher plus more. We had a floor covered in suds and now we have nothing but clean dishes and a clean smelling dishwasher.
Great news. Glad it's all clean and fresh. 😎
Plastic Fiter Screen Holder (5:48): There are couple of tabs that hold the plastic cylinder in place on the metal screen. Easy-squeezy for removal to make cleaning the flat metal screen and the plastic cylinder easier to clean (with your wife's toothbrush)
Great video, gonna clean ours today, thanks very much!
Thanks. 😎
Very well explained. Thank you kindly from 🇨🇦 😊
No problem, glad I could help out. 😎
Thank you! This was fun and useful 👌
Thanks, glad my video helped you out. 😎
Great sense of humour 😅
i had so much gunk in the spray arms that i had to tape up all but 1 of the little holes (leave the one closest to the outer edge of the arm open), then blasted an air compressor up the big opening. chunks of gunk came flying out of that little hole. once gunk stopped coming out of that hole, i taped that up and opened another hole and try again.
Unusual to get lot's of gunk in them. Hope it's all running nice and efficient again. 😎
Very informative Vedio.thank you.I have got same machine without power .Socket is fine.could you please advise me what needs doing.
First thing is check the fuse in the plug. If that’s all ok and no power then prob need a technician to have a look.
Concise and humorous, nicely done, but... When cleaning the spray arms, you (and I) are just knocking the food back into the inner spray arm and it will soon be blocking the holes again. Any way around that?
Really there shouldn’t be too much food in the spray arms. If you flush it well and maybe try to flush it back out the bigger central hole
Dear Sir, Regarding the upper impeller. I have a Bosch Silence Plus 48 dBA the upper impeller is not freely spinning, it's almost as if the retaining screw is too forcing the impeller to be too close to the rack. Do you know what I'm supposed to do?
It should spin very freely. Remove it and reinstall, the nut should lock easily and allow it to spin. Maybe it’s twisted
Be sure to use your WIFES or PARTNERS TOOTHBRUSH!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Followed the instructions and used my wife's toothbrush, she wasnt very happy and now I am doing the dishes by hand.
Glad to help and I can supply a marriage guidance counsellor 🤣
That's all good but what is the other tank to the left?
Apologies for the late reply. That is the salt reservoir.
How to add Salt to a Dishwasher if Dishwasher Salt Light is On or Dishwasher Salt Light is Flashing
th-cam.com/video/VOSavw1YIjY/w-d-xo.html
that nut that keeps the up wash arm on mine wash really clogged but it popped right for cleaning also
Hi, I have Bosch IQ300 built in dishwasher.
Just to add, if the rinse aid has run out, could it cause this issue?
No as you can run it without Rinse Aid. Unfortunately it sounds like possibly a computer type fault. If it’s pretty old you will have to weigh up cost of possible repair and it could fail again or getting a new one
Thank you. The dishwasher is now 6 years old. if the control panel is faulty than part and Labour may cost more than half the cost of new. Also, another unrelated problem with parts will cost more again to repair.
Therefore, it will make sense to buy new with 5 years guarantee.
I would prefer DW which displays the ERROR CODE. any recommendations up to £600?
Too cool, thanks very much !
Thanks, glad it helped 😎

You forgot to tell us the last step: put your partner's toothbrush back, otherwise she might find out what you did. 🤭
Oops 👍

Thank you for the lovely comment, appreciate it and glad the video was useful.😎
Thank You it was very helpful
@@JacekSeroka No problem, glad it helped you out.😎
I love that you used your partner’s toothbrush! 😂 I’m pretty sure I have that dishwasher at home.
Our dishwasher has gotten like a red film covering the dishwasher, I'm assuming it's some Passata sauce or something but it's tinted all of the plastic red, is there anything that could be suggested to clean this? I've done a proper machine clean etc
Wow that is unusual to stain like that. Not sure how you’d get that off. Hope you can get it sorted
Excellent Job Sir!!!! Thank you much

When you remove the filter assembly there is a plastic sieve thing behind it held in place with a couple of tork screws. On my machine lots of debris accumulates below that. I removed the screws lifted it a bit and manually cleaned below it. The piece is held down by the spray duct. Can that be easily removed?
Yours must be different to my Bosch model. Not sure I’m afraid.
@@LurgsHowToGuides It looked the same to me, at least the filter assembly and the bit immediately behind it (that's what I'm talking about).
@@bobjackson4720 Not sure, I’ve never taken that bit apart. Good luck
Brilliant thank you
No problem, glad I could help 😎
It's amazing how much your wife or partners toothbrush can clean stuff. I clean everything with one. Amazing.
Great video
Cheers. Glad my video helped you out. 😎
How often or after how many uses do you normally do this kind of deep cleaning?
After about 30-50 cycles.
@@LurgsHowToGuides Thats generally every month or so I suppose
thank you for this!!!!

Just pulled out our filter, it’s a horror story !
I left it for my wife to clean ( and hide my toothbrush :)
Cheers
Yes they do get very dirty! Glad to help.😎
The dishwashing soap dispenser doesn’t open. As a result the dishes are developing a white shadow. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem?
You'll need to get that fixed, a dishwasher without detergent isn't going to work properly.
great but my bosch dishwasher doesn't look like that inside ☹️
Oh dear.
Partner’s toothbrush 😂
Yes very useful
We do ours every 3 months or so
My condensation vent is dripping and filling the bottom of dishwasher
Thanks brother
Glad that I could help. 😎
outstanding
Thank you 😎
My machine is the exact model. I've cleaned all you covered in this video EXCEPT that picture of a filter and I've run dish washer cleaner idk how many times now. The machine is still not cleaning and leaves "grit" and white film on my dishes. The worst is plastics. What else can I do ?
Maybe it’s the salt dispenser mixing too much salt. You can adjust the salt (I’ve got a video how to adjust water hardness level on this Dishwasher).
Thank you!!
My pleasure 😎
What about the nozzle at the very top?
Which one is that? Can't see one on this model
@Lurgs How To Guides its a
Bosch plus 50 dba
Not sure I'm afraid.
Thank u so much

Thanks for this viedo
No problem, glad I could help out today. Have a very Merry Christmas. 🎄
Run a dishwasher cleaning programme with proper cleaner and empty
th-cam.com/video/DEknDV_QW4s/w-d-xo.html
That's exactly the problem I have... I did all the video suggestions for cleaning but didn't help. My glasses and mugs are not clean at all, it seems the water is not getting up into the glasses/mugs very well at all, dried on stains inside.
great tips
Glad they were useful. 😎
Thank You.
Glad my video helped 😎
Maybe poke those irritating pieces of debris with a needle so they get smaller and can be flushed out. Ridiculous that you can’t open up the sprayer arm.
thanks!!!
Great stuff. Glad I could help. Happy Easter. 😎🐣
Thank you- this was very helpful! The only problem left for me to figure out is where a crescent- shaped plastic black piece fits back near the filter (I think).
Oh, guessing it's slightly different to the one in this video then.
I use a designated turkey baster to suck the water out of the filter hole.
Great idea
