In a way it was like a friend or someone you know had brought the monitor and i was asking them questions about the specs I've seen the monitor has. Props to you ser and take a like from me.
Nice one dude, this setup is sick! (Lots better than what I have) P.s. I still love the subnautica art you made for desktop screen, awesome how you made that
This monitor 32" size is arriving tomorrow for me. I'm excited to get my hands on it and play with it. It will be replacing a Benq ultrawide monitor i've been using for almost 5 years now. Did me a great service and will still continue to do so. I'm thinking i'm putting it on an arm and flipping it 90º and using it in portrait mode. Exciting times ahead.
Tbh there's absolutely amazing HDR in games... on consoles and with a good TV... just... not with 95% of all (even higher end) monitors and windows still doesn't always play ball ;p
When you say you went with a black one... The only white one I'm aware of is g9 which is ultrawide hdr 1000 and more expensive. I don't think the choice was yours unless you purchased a different model 🙂
This monitor was the behemoth of all monitors in 2020, especially when the COVID crisis was kicking in. Despite its excellent benefits, its build is somewhat awkward, and would be more suitable for business use over extreme gaming.
This guy did pretty good at predicting when this monitor would come into it's own. Flash forward to 2022 and this monitor is at the top of the charts with the 3000 series video cards.

I'm using Samsung LC27CHG70 27" 1440p 144hz 1ms QLED model and I have stucked between switching to G7 28" 4K144Hz or G7 27" 1440p240Hz. I'm both competitive player and story driven game player. When I last stucked between two choices like that, it was 1080p240hz or 1440p144hz, and I have selected 1440p144hz at that time. Now I was in that dilemma again. But this time I ordered G7 1440p240hz. But i still wonder how it would be if i chose 4k144hz version. What would be your advice?
@ I'm not a monitor expert by any stretch of the term, but I do my research (usually several days worth) before I throw down the kind of money it takes to get a quality item. It sounds like we are similar in what we enjoy with gaming. The monitor I replaced with the G7 has lasted me about 10yrs and it's still beautiful, but monitors don't appear to improve by leaps and bounds like other tech does. I was also torn on which to go with....1440p or 4k....and decided on the better performing option because this is a gaming computer for me and I don't use it to watch movies or cut video or anything that would take advantage of the better quality visuals the 4k gives you, but your games will take advantage of the faster refresh and latency from what I've researched. So it appears to come down to this question....Do you use the monitor for mainly gaming or do you also do other things that can take advantage of the higher quality picture?
I have a Samsung CFG 70 Gaming Monitor and I never payed attention to the wobble. I just checked because my G7 will be delivered tomorrow! I liked your video for clearly showing the box and product. I particularly like the design and light in the back. It's nice to have great looking equipment in your studio. My desk Not against the wall. It "feels" better.

For those having flickering issues.. is it easy to test? Or does it only happen in some games and not always? Just asking because if i were to get one, i would want to see the issue (if any) so i can return it rather than find out later after the return period has passed
What game are you playing at 11:00? Great video btw, I ordered this monitor a few days ago but it might be a while before I receive it due to covid delays :(
Several months have passed since the publication of this great review and I wanted to know what monitor configuration you make is the best for you. , can you write how you have this monitor configured now? I mean contrast, colors and the rest.greetings
Hi awesome review, I was wondering how much space this monitor takes up on the desk, it seems the curve takes more and i was also wondering if you can mount it or if thats not possible :D
Is this flickering issue random? I just ordered mine today and I wasn't aware that a lot of people were having this issue? Is turning off Adaptive Sync is the only way to make it disappear? I don't care about it that much tbh.
The wobble becomes distracting when gaming as it will do when using the mouse and keyboard. If you’ve ever bumped your desk really hard on accident then you’d know it could potentially topple a monitor that wobbles like this also.
@@1UpNerdcore Thanks! I just bought a G7 and it's not working. Displayport is plugged into the PC, it should be getting the signal, but the monitor screen is black. Any idea why this is happening?
Yup! Making a video on it this week to hopefully get some dialogue going with everyone in the comment section. I’ve tinkered with settings multiple times and it seems like certain things fix it but then later it’ll start again. Try turning off local dimming and turn g sync to full screen only
@@1UpNerdcore thank you! I literally went to work on zero sleep trying to fix this all night last night. I COULD get it to stop, but couldn't narrow it down to one single action. The stand this monitor comes with is sturdy, but it's a heavy monitor and screen shaking is pretty unavoidable. The solution is to get it off your desk. I mounted mine to the wall using a mount with an articulated arm. It's a world of difference. Wall mounts don't have to be expensive, but be sure you get one that can handle the load. Like I said, this is one heavy monitor.
Any brightness flickering with G-sync? It's a amazing monitor but I'm having mine replaced because of it. Totally unacceptable for a $800 G-sync certified monitor imo
So I’m having mine flicker some with adaptive sync turned on now. I noticed it in premier pro editing videos. I haven’t noticed it in any games but turned adaptive sync off and it went away. I’m gonna try again tomorrow and if it keeps happening I’ll have to return it. Doom eternal has some texture issues where the are in focus and then out of focus whether Gsync is on or off. I’m wondering if it’s the texture filtering and directional occlusion.
After messing with the settings the only way it'll go away is by turning g sync off. All my drivers are up to date and it doesn't matter if hdr is on or off.
Yup! That seems to have helped. I’m wondering if the local dimming is really just meant to be used with hdr and that’s what’s causing an issue when not in hdr. G sync set to full screen also helped
Sorry for my english im from slovakia :D I will buy this monitor. But i have a question. Is this monitor good for a horror gaming or dark scenes in the games? Or i have to buy another? Thanks for the answers :D
I gave the 1440P LG screen with G-SYNC and HDR 400 but I'm considering getting the oddyssey G5 due to the superior colors and HDR600. I am not an online gamer, solely play single player games... I think I'lll sell my current monitor.
Depends on what you want. For regular monitor I’d go with the 32 Acer I reviewed on the channel or the Samsung LC32JG56QQNXZA. For ultra wide I’d go with the asus or msi monitor. LG is nice but 900-1000 for their top tier ultra wide.
I’m planning to buy G6/7 but I’m unsure about the size. In terms of text clarity, which is most important for me (I sit 25” from screen) and general image clarity as well is 32” way worse than 27”? I’d love to hear back soon from you and thanks in advance!
my internet modem died so they sent a new one in mail it was busted up grrr so i received the new one today got it hooked up had issues routing it into my links router allso but they got it all working so now i have internet and wifi lol
I have two identical monitors every time i click alt f4 or alt tab it freezes both monitors for 3 seconds idk why. It could be because of all the settings the monitor comes with.
@Bony Fist / 死Death死 ... actually yes I would. I sold the G7 and grabbed a 32" Dell S3220DGF. It's more than fast enough for me and half the price of the Samsung.
Hey, I just found this G7 in 27" monitor for 357$ on amazon, would you say it's a steal and go for it ? Or do you recommend another model for under 400$ ?
@@1UpNerdcore I haven't just bought it since I did tests on it like 2 weeks after but I hope it would work to get a new one on warranty or something. I also ordered it online.
hey man, im looking fwd to buy this monitor. and i sit at ususal monitor distance. currently using 24" monitor. should i buy 32" or 27" monitor?? i usually play only fps games.
@@1UpNerdcore hey thx for reply. actually i do want a big screen but just worried if i get 32, it might be too big and will cause issues while sitting at normal monitor distance. Actually im from India, n in my city, there no shop that has a demo piece of this monitor. so i have to directly order it.. one more que, since its 32", pixel density is less than 27". did u experience any issues, like loosing image quality. N you are actually able to see pixels?
I’ve seen videos about the ‘bend’ in the middle of the screen, I know it’s curved but I’ve seen videos where the middle part (if you drag a notepad for example)it warps
apparently in first person shooters if you put a high fov (which i always do) the image gets distorted (warping) is there a way to fix this? or is it not really noticeable.this is probably the only reason im scared to get this monitor besides it coming with dead pixels
The complaints I read more then once was wobbly stand, dead pixels and flickering?? It looks like a standard 27 inch is taller? Cant do a tight stack with those lights on the bottom f you want two.
Thanks for the review, I'm looking at getting this monitor in the future when the price drops as Samsung's tend to do. I'll also need be looking towards the new graphics card to see if this monitor can get the 240hz at 1440p
Those are also expensive and I’ve different features depending on the model. I think the price point for what this offers is to high compared to others that are close but the big thing you’re paying for is a 240hz VA panel that most hardware can’t even get to with AAA titles.
@@1UpNerdcore QLED? 1000R? HDR1000 nit? 1ms? 240hz? 32" 16-9 1440P! if u can find the same match least half of them and let me know how much they cost compared to G7?
So that leaves 240hz and a 1000R curve as the biggest difference between this and other monitors. With a 2-4 hundred dollar higher price tag above other monitors the question becomes is it worth it? For enthusiasts maybe, for average gamers probably not.
I purchased this monitor, specifically (Samsung - 25" Odyssey G40B FHD IPS 240Hz 1ms G-Sync Gaming Monitor - Black Model: LS25BG402ENXGO) - I use Xbox Series S. I hooked it up last night & the timing on my buttons was much slower. I play NBA 2K & the shooting is based on timing.. So for example if my release timing for the shot was say 1.5 ms it was now almost double & the visual cue didn't match anymore.. Any idea why? I went back to my older Sony TV (4k) and it was back to normal timing. Any insight as to why this may be?
Totally necro'ing this video, but I noticed you set sharpness to 52 when it should be the neutral 56. Anything lower is blurry and any higher than 56 is too artificially sharp. As for contrast, at most, it should be at around 75.
That boils down the personal preference of course, I would also keep in mind I got this right after it launched so some setting me be altered now from firmware updates
Please look up the problem with this monitor before you buy it. I got one yesterday and returned it today. It's a great monitor with problems that I just couldn't deal with. The screen flicker and the screen goes black by itself and I had to turn off my pc and unplug the cord. Not trying to discredit this product, but I just want people to be aware before spending 700$. He also made a video about his experience with this problem.
flickering was fixed in a new firmware update, they added VRR which you should enable to get rid of flickering, how was the monitor in dark rooms tho? any backlight bleed or something annoying in dark games?
@@ravetix9853 I didn’t noticed any bleed or anything like that. If you don’t have HDR on while watching movies, Netflix etc then the monitor seem to turn off and the only way I know how to get it back on is to unplug in from the wall.
I want to change my Asus MG279Q to this G7. I have a great monitor, very pleased with it but there's a time to say goodbye to a dear friend (especially when you find a little spot that is brighter than should be). But I'm concerned. Doubt that i need 240hz monitor. I just want a good item with newer technology like Freesync 2, 144hz, 27-32" and a great color.
HDR600 Edge Lit in Samsung G7 is one of the best among displays in this category, so Gigabyte HDR400 was definitely worse, if Samsung G7 wasn't defective in the first place. By the way, a powerful gpu isn't needed to run HDR.
@@paulronan6770 The monitor is great, the Qled tech is beautiful. Just don't forget to update if you get it. Also the HDR so nice one you tweak the settings for it. Really fast monitor at 240. This is going to be my main monitor for a while.
I don't know if anyone can help me but i got my Samsung odyssey g7 which is an awesome monitor but I can't update it to the latest software, it says that it can't find any usb device and got me frustrated, does anybody knows why this is happening?

Yup! That seems to have helped. I’m wondering if the local dimming is really just meant to be used with hdr and that’s what’s causing an issue when not in hdr. G sync set to full screen also helped
Flickers like crazy with g-sync at 240hz in game menus..
does this have a VESA mount?
Yes
Sorry for my english im from slovakia :D I will buy this monitor. But i have a question. Is this monitor good for a horror gaming or dark scenes in the games? Or i have to buy another? Thanks for the answers :D
I would like to know the depth of the wood desk in this video. If you still have could you please measure the desk for me? Thank you!
2ft - 24inches
I gave the 1440P LG screen with G-SYNC and HDR 400 but I'm considering getting the oddyssey G5 due to the superior colors and HDR600. I am not an online gamer, solely play single player games... I think I'lll sell my current monitor.
what resolution did u use the monitor 2k or 1080p?
2k
Would you say this or the ASUS pg35vq
Asus if you can afford it
1 Up Nerdcore bet ya I can’t afford it lol what would you say is the best around 600$ price range in the market right now ?
Depends on what you want. For regular monitor I’d go with the 32 Acer I reviewed on the channel or the Samsung LC32JG56QQNXZA.
For ultra wide I’d go with the asus or msi monitor. LG is nice but 900-1000 for their top tier ultra wide.
Will it run 240 hz on the hdmi port ?
no only the display port supports 240 hz
I’m planning to buy G6/7 but I’m unsure about the size.
In terms of text clarity, which is most important for me (I sit 25” from screen) and general image clarity as well is 32” way worse than 27”?
I’d love to hear back soon from you and thanks in advance!
If text clarity is a concern then get 32inches at 4K not 1440p
@@1UpNerdcore I see. 4K isn’t practical for me so I’ll have to settle for the 27” variant ig
Do you have flickering with gsync
Yea, I did a video one it
How does the g-sync work because I heard they were problems
Yea it has major flickering issues with lots of them
my internet modem died so they sent a new one in mail it was busted up grrr so i received the new one today got it hooked up had issues routing it into my links router allso but they got it all working so now i have internet and wifi lol
Good deal!
i heard there's a update that fixed the flickering is that true?
not in most cases for 32 inch users
same monitor and speakers as me 👍
I have two identical monitors every time i click alt f4 or alt tab it freezes both monitors for 3 seconds idk why. It could be because of all the settings the monitor comes with.
Great video, for anyone who has this monitor. How do you find the curve of the screen?
Curve looks very noticeable.
In person with the 32 inch from my sitting distance it’s noticeable but not as much as I was thinking. The 49inch would definitely be.
I've just got the 27" version and it's very noticeable at first. After 2 days of playing, I don't really notice it anymore
For under it’s a really good monitor go for it 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore thanks a lot!
Recommend for Xbox series x ?
Not over a 4K tv but it’ll be decent for it
how is it the depth-width (cm) on your office?
My desk is 2ft deep
@@1UpNerdcore On cm?? how many cm?
Super Video:-)
I have some grey clouding aka DSE on my G7. I also got a dead pixel. Should or can I return that?
If you just bought it you should be able to return it and get it replaced. If it happens a second time I would move on to a different monitor.
@@1UpNerdcore Do you have slight DSE on yours? I have very much moving around a grey background looking at text.
@@1UpNerdcore I haven't just bought it since I did tests on it like 2 weeks after but I hope it would work to get a new one on warranty or something. I also ordered it online.
Is this 27 or 32' ?
32 inch
Can the lights still be used when its vesa mounted?
Yes 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore thank
You. I cant wait to buy this monitor
hey man, im looking fwd to buy this monitor. and i sit at ususal monitor distance. currently using 24" monitor. should i buy 32" or 27" monitor?? i usually play only fps games.
27inch would probably be best. I personally like 32 for the bigger size but it might be to much of you aren’t wanting something to big.
Hi love your content can you please give me your table dimensions Thanks!
6ft wide 2 deep and 1.25 inch thick
Just got mine yesterday, mine came with HDMI
Mine had display port
just bought this and loving it so far
No flickering issue?
@@1UpNerdcore not as of yet had it a week now
No osd software control ? damn ...
I got the flat screen, am I losing it. Or do they not have speakers?
Most of the Odyssey series monitors don’t have speakers
@@1UpNerdcore can you hook speakers up to them?
I know I'm very late on this video, but I have the same Acer monitor and thinking about upgrading to the Odyssey G7. Hope it was worth the upgrade!
It will be 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore awesome. Thanks man!
I’ve seen videos about the ‘bend’ in the middle of the screen, I know it’s curved but I’ve seen videos where the middle part (if you drag a notepad for example)it warps
cool monitor im finally back on line again geeesh lol
What happened?
I just ordered this same monitor in 32 inch with my 3080ti and 12th gen Intel
Any updates on the experience? I'm considering buying one in the next few days
apparently in first person shooters if you put a high fov (which i always do) the image gets distorted (warping) is there a way to fix this? or is it not really noticeable.this is probably the only reason im scared to get this monitor besides it coming with dead pixels
You’d have to mess with it to find the right balance. Outside of that I don’t know of anything to help with the image warping.
@@1UpNerdcore is it really that noticeable? like will it affect performance or nah
I got mine for £499. 32” one as well
@@jayden_2954 where
Dario B Currys. Pre ordered it
@@jayden_2954 £600 now & out of stock everywhere, I'm gutted..
what was the price then?
Wow ,, Great 😎 😍
expensives? so Asus ROG strix gold and LG ultra not expensives?
Those are also expensive and I’ve different features depending on the model. I think the price point for what this offers is to high compared to others that are close but the big thing you’re paying for is a 240hz VA panel that most hardware can’t even get to with AAA titles.
@@1UpNerdcore QLED? 1000R? HDR1000 nit? 1ms? 240hz? 32" 16-9 1440P! if u can find the same match least half of them and let me know how much they cost compared to G7?
This is hdr 600 not 1000 aka HDR10. The G9 is the HDR10. This also isn’t true G sync it’s just g sync compatible.
So that leaves 240hz and a 1000R curve as the biggest difference between this and other monitors. With a 2-4 hundred dollar higher price tag above other monitors the question becomes is it worth it? For enthusiasts maybe, for average gamers probably not.
I purchased this monitor, specifically (Samsung - 25" Odyssey G40B FHD IPS 240Hz 1ms G-Sync Gaming Monitor - Black
Model: LS25BG402ENXGO) - I use Xbox Series S.
Got one for 300 new off ebay
How'd that go?
I got a desk that's 60cm deep, will this monitor be too big for it?? :/
You’ll be able to set it on the desk but nothing in front of it like your keyboard
If you don’t have HDR on while watching movies, Netflix etc then the monitor seem to turn off and the only way I know how to get it back on is to unplug in from the wall.
gets to tire 32 inches?
Tire?
I want to change my Asus MG279Q to this G7. I have a great monitor, very pleased with it but there's a time to say goodbye to a dear friend (especially when you find a little spot that is brighter than should be). But I'm concerned. Doubt that i need 240hz monitor. I just want a good item with newer technology like Freesync 2, 144hz, 27-32" and a great color.

@@1UpNerdcore oh, thanks! That's looks promising.
Imaging using IPS panel when you have this option lol
HDR600 Edge Lit in Samsung G7 is one of the best among displays in this category, so Gigabyte HDR400 was definitely worse, if Samsung G7 wasn't defective in the first place. By the way, a powerful gpu isn't needed to run HDR.
still a better buy compare to the alienware competition lols
price wise
the future is flickery
Al it of issues with this monitor has been fixed with a recent update!
Should I buy it
