Unfortunately you're looking through a 'letterbox' as it just doesn't have the height of display, even with you sitting that close. I'll stick with my 48inch LG OLED. 120Hz VRR is all you need. Combine with TrackIR or Tobii and it's brilliant for gaming.
I just built my dream set up as well, and when I tell you it does feel like I’m walking into a portal. Especially on RPGs I played red dead over again just for the experience…. Hands down amazing
I love my G9 but this seems like the upgrade ive been waiting for. Cant go back to anything else now .. especially the immersion of the 1000r curve when gaming. Great review.
Thank you for productivity feedback. I don't care that much about the refresh, this is simply the only monitor with this kind of resolution, PPI and curve. No USB-C is asinine, but adapters can resolve it. To prospective buyers: The price will probably drop significantly in a few month like usual.
I have since bought this monitor and I'm very happy... Mostly. I thought there would be some type of KVM functionality but that doesn't seem to be a thing. I attached a USB-C dock and that works, but swichting is inelegant at best. So it works, but it's not very flexible and you need to use the OSD every time AFAIK.
Thanks for the great video and the information for mac users. May I ask have you met any other problem with using MacOS? Like many other monitors would have some flicker or waking up problem so I'm a little worried about it. I just bought a Mac Studio M2 to replace my iMac 27', I'm struggling in buying Odyssey G9 or 2x Studio Displays, do you have any suggestions?
Very welcome! It does have an issue with waking up - I have an M2 Studio now and if the mac goes to sleep it then doesn't come back when waking the screen back up. Fixed by disconnecting HDMI and then re-connecting from the back of the Mac. But it also sometimes messes with the resolution which needs a full restart to solve. So I tend to avoid it going to sleep where I can!
Great video man. The light leak though like at 13:27 would drive me nuts, OLED is much superior Dream Monitor for me = 21:9 Ultrawide 38 at 5120 x 2160 240HZ.Currently using the G9 OLED
It’s a fair point! But unless you’re playing a lot of dark games with piercing whites it’s not that noticeable. But agree, OLED is of course going to be better. I just want this in oled and with usb c! 😬
That's the camera, especially at an angle. I haven't been able to spot a single light leak during my testing. Even the classic white on black haloing is very very subtle.
Yep, can confirm@@Grammostola. You won't see any light leaks when sitting in front of the monitor. Zero. You can see some when sitting at an angle but that's normal.
Currently even a 4090 rig cannot drive that monitor at 240hz. Due to a NVidia not supporting the latest versions of DP. You would actually need to go with an AMD Card to unlock the higher refresh rate. (but it probably wont be able to actually push that many frames)
Well you usually buy a monitor to keep for many years anyway so next year the 50 series will come out with presumably the DP 2.1 port so this monitor will be unlocked to it’s fullest potential port wise
The more graphic-intensive games you play, the fewer fps you will get. When people talk about 240hz or 500hz, it doesn't mean much because every game will get a different number of FPS. In which game do you want to achieve 240hz and even if NVIDIA supports it, is your graphics card actually able to generate that many FPS?
Seems this could still work with a 4090 by using PBP and two cables. It should be possible to drive each side to 240hz (if the game isn't too demanding). Nvidia supports combining two monitors to make one virtual monitor so applications and games would treat it as a single monitor. I don't own one of these, so I might be wrong.
@@daphoosa unfortunately just like the g9 oled which I own the whole monitor can only do 240hz per display. So pbp is limited to 120hz via dp or hdmi2. 1 I've tried this on my 4090 but makes sense as having a controler on board a monitor capable of 580hz and all that bandwidth would be costly rnd
There’s a lot of misinformation in this video, but here are 2 big ones. 1. The 4080 does support HDMI 2.1, but Nvidia has issues with Display Stream Compression which is limiting it to 120Hz. You currently need an RX 7000 series GPU with DisplayPort 2.1 to run this at 240Hz. 2. A matte screen is the worst possible choice for this as we can measure a very large hit to clarity, contrast, and perceived vibrancy vs something like what they used on the OLED G9. It also doesn’t stop reflections, it diffuses them into larger areas of light.
Hey man, appreciate the comments. I wouldn't know re: 4080 - I've got a 2080! Hoping to upgrade to a 4090 or possibly the RX - currently figuring out which is best to build. 2. Honestly I prefer the matte screen over glaring reflections. It may diffuse it into larger areas of light, but when using the screen I can't see any form of reflections, diffused or not - so I'd call that a win :) Like I said in the video, I'm not one to benchmark and get into all the nitty gritty. But I am someone who uses this screen for a good 6-8 hours every day, and I've used every single version of the previous gen 49" G9 models - so hope that perspective is useful to people watching!
I bought the 49 inch one, it does not support display port connection. The graphics card is Ndivia 4080 super. I am trying to return it but Samsung is stalling me. Shopping from Samsung is a regret.
I just got the 49" NEO version and I love it! I hope to get this 57" version some day. When it happens I will probably get rid of all my smaller displays.
I've had this monitor for practically 10 days. I'm telling you this is the best monitor I've ever had. Beautiful black on screen, perfect curvature, amazing resolution. How I would rate only like this... 11/10
@@drunkhusband6257 It’s been out for a little while. The US launch is a bit later than a number of other countries. I’ve been following a lot of people on Reddit who have posted pictures of their setups with this monitor over the past few weeks.
I had mine for a couple of days now and I'm just glad that I seem to have won in the panel lottery. No DSE, great uniformity, no scanlines or dead pixels. If nothing breaks I'll keep this one until micro led arrives. Have fun with your monitors guys
@@PeteMatheson I'll be using the Yellowtec Mika system. It's what we use in our radio studios for mics and monitors, and the mounts say they support monitors up to 15kg. Fingers crossed that it works!
Hello something i wonder is , how much big is the stand coming with the screen from base to top ? i don't find anywhere people talking about. Great review by the way👍
FYI: The RTX 4090 is limited to DP 1.4 (like the RTX 4080). But they both have HDMI 2.1. So you should be able to push max resolution @240Hz via HDMI. Personal experience: The OLED G9 is hands down the best gaming monitor I currently own (and I have the original CRG9 from 2019 and another G9 Odyssey, but the OLED G9 just blows all the others into bits ^_^). Sure the OLED would have been a bit better with the 1000R curve, but even the 1800R curve is fine (or I just got used to it?) I don't really see a big difference when going to my other 1000R screen though :D
Its not just about OLED quality. You are missing the point that this screen has much more real estate for multitasking. Also has much higher PPI and the larger screen size is more immersive for gaming. A lot of people will compensate on pure image quality for these other benefits including no worries with screen burn.
@@LtCmdrAmbrose yes they do on everything this is because they are in cahoots with amd on this ever sammy i have had supports 240 over hdmi g9 neog9 neo g8 and oledg9 also
I just ordered the 49" g9 odyssey from Amazon for 899. Be here in 3 days. I've had triple monitor setup before, (3) 32" 1080p Samsung. I have a 40" 4k tv now and was hesitant on giving up 6 inches of vertical real estate, but we'll see. Plus, I'm going to mount the 40" above this for my movies.
Even a RTX 4090 doesn't support 2x 4K at 240Hz ! It has DP1.4 so no chance there, you'd have to use the HDMI 2.1 but even that one can't support that max resolution at 240Hz. The only way it will actually work full resolution at 240Hz is by enabling Display Stream Compression between the Nvidia 4090 and the screen but they're not compatible yet. We can just hope updated drivers will come to enable that.
@@PeteMatheson I'm on a RTX 4090 and plan to buy the 57 G9 this month. The screen has DSC in it, it's just a question of when the drivers will make both working together. I can't imagine that won't come soon.
Just got mine yesterday. I had the original G9 before this and the differences are significant. I finally have a monitor that I can't see the individual pixels on. There is a lot of blooming for some reason though. I'm still tinkering with settings though.
I think at this point they'd benefit from a multi-foot stand instead of the single arm. Like maybe 2 feet on the outer part and a single peg/foot in the center so that it can save some room (while also still having the normal monitor mounting socket)
Been pondering about getting this for a couple a weeks now. I was giving my mancave a much needed upgrade and recently purchased a maxed out MacBook Pro M3 Max (128GB RAM) and needed a new monitor to do it justice. I looked everywhere, high and low. This was the only monitor I could find with proper 4k resolution at 240hz but the price was too much (£2199)…until today when I found it online for £1500. That’s £700 cheaper! Needless to say I’m ecstatic. I may make a video on it once I have it hooked up to the MacBook. Just hope the graphics card does the monitor justice! Thanks for your cool vids bro, definitely helped me decide to get this monitor! 💪🏼
Can most PC games fit the 57" resolution? I fear I would experience the black borders on the sides of the screen with a lot of games if they can't support that screen size.
Hi Pete! Love your channel and videos. To the point, smart, funny. You doing a great job! May I ask for your advice? So at the end, is it worth to buy this 57-inch (connecting to Mac and Ps5) or 49 would work just as well? Gaming - not so much (and most likely I'll get laser projector soon anyway). Productivity - excel, charts. I was really happy with G9 Neo (49*). Sold it a while ago. Going to move soon and need a new monitor.
Question as a streamer: Can you run a game at 21:9 (not the 32:9) in the center while also using the excess space on the sides for programs like OBS or Chat?
I'm using the massive original stand for now, and I'm still waiting for the new ergotron arm. Thanks for letting me know they are making it. This stand is killing so much space on my desk
what KVM do you use to switch between all the different inputs? You have a PC, Mac, Xbox.. so does it require you to unplug everything and then replug each time you use a different system?
At 13:26 you have a game centered and what looks like your mac on the top right. Does the picture by picture option let you position the screens or is it just side by side? I'd like to run a racing game in the middle via XBOX but would like to also run my mac off to the side. BTW you've earned a new subscriber for the awesome and extremely well done reviews you do.
Hey Pete question for you. I'm wondering if you can play a game in the middle and have say a web page on either side if you didn't want to play in ultra wide. I would like to know if it can before I buy one. Thank you!
With the PBP there isn't an option to have one screen in the middle and a second machine to the left or right, so as long as the games you're playing have an option for Windowed that locks the mouse inside the window, then that should work fine :)
I also have the original g9 and neo and am intrigued by this model but want to know if I can run it at non native resolution and still use DLSS and HDR. I have a 4090 under water block but have done the math and 7680x2160 is 125% more pixels or double + 25% so in games with RT this will more than halve my performance. That and i would also need to wait for Ergotrons updated HD pivot. $2k is a lot of money to part with. I dont know, thinking of just sticking with my G9 Neo which has zero issues, especially factoring the panel lottery in as some 57" G9 owners have had to return theirs within a week or two.
I agree I have the 49 Neo g9 with a 3090 ti ftw3 ultra rig all around incredible parts and on AAA title games running at ultra graphics I am not getting over 120 fps so for this even the best graphics card you’re going to need a 6090 Ti to maximize this screen or multi gpu setup which is just a waste of money. I love my screen and I feel like these are going to be so buggy anyways and their QC is terrible
Hey @PeteMatheson, what desktop speakers and chair are you using. Nice video by the way, I'm buying this monitor when it's available in Australia. Tks.
Thanks so much for this, I’m really tempted to get this. Can i ask, i currently have a triple monitor setup, ie iMac with 2 4k displays. I use several desktops or spaces per screen, ie one for calendar, emails, things, then usually have studio, python, word, ever note and safari on the others. What is it like using multiple spaces ie virtual desktops on a ultrawide screen
Very welcome man! I find it works quite well - I generally use a space for personal stuff, one for work etc. I have the shortcut on my MX Mouse to be on my thumb so I can hold my thumb down and swipe left / right to switch spaces quickly.
no usb c is a weird omission, especially considering my 43" Samsung ultra wide (c43j89) came with one. Granted it is more of a work monitor rather than a gaming monitor, but at this price they really should put it in. Its great being able to connect a single USB C from my monitor to my surface or MacBook and have the screen extend, my keyboard and mouse connect and my laptop gets powered.
My only complaint is the cable length. The power cord is like 2 feet long and specifically says “do not use extension cord”. Better hope your desk has an outlet in the center.
I owned the Odyssey Neo G9 49" and I no longer believed it was possible for me to get excited about a change of monitor again. I've had the 57" for about 4 hours and I can't help but stay glued to it. The cm gained in height make the image finally perfect and after updating the firmware and setting the colors and HDR the result is incredible. Particular note should be made on black colours. Never seen such "black" black colors without OLED technology. In triple A games even my 4090 struggles in some cases to stay above 60-70 fps so I find the Diplay port 2.0 issue totally marginal at the moment given that I don't play competitively. While waiting for the 5090 to be able to make more use of this jewel, I can only recommend it without any doubt to all lovers of the 32:9 format. Given Samsung's well-known quality control problems, the monitor does not present any problems.
10:09 That's exactly what I want a super ultrawide for and I've been asking for if anyone can do it. I know you didn't do it intentionally(or maybe you did), I'd like to say THANK YOU!! Now I can finally safely pre-order it here. I've a 2080ti myself so getting a monitor like that with such a GPU seems silly right now, but I intend to wait for the RTX50 series that's coming in late 2024/ early 2025 so that I'll have full access to the DP 2.1 capabilities. Until then I'd most likely use it in a 16:9 in the middle with two horizontal screens at the side.
@@Adrian-ep4qm It is. But it's obvious that with the Neo G9, you're really future proofing a lot. It's a waste for now, but honestly my neck's killing me with how I keep turning to my 2nd monitor which also has a terrible panel, the NG9 will be a very luxurious upgrade that will improve my everyday use. And technically, I can still use the ultrawide feature. I personally think it's a weird time to spring for an upgrade to my PC right now, since the 50 series is just a little over a year away(give or take a few months), and it will most likely boast a 2.1 display port.
Hey man, I’m looking around to purchase a monitor and I seen this the one day you’re previewing I just have a question. Is it compatible or is it worth buying to connect to an Xbox series X?
In response to your “I’ll answer every question” statement, why don’t you give us a brief summary of why you prefer this over the 49 oled even though the oled has better colours? I’m also curious to know if the 4K helps bridge the image quality gap with the 1440p oled
Hey! 👋🏼 I use my screen 90% of the time for work. So having the extra resolution, combined with the bigger overall size means I can fit more on the screen, and it’s in higher quality with higher PPI. Definitely prefer the 4k resolution. But it’s definitely a choice between OLED colours and this. But I’d take the size, resolution & PPI over the oled.
@@PeteMatheson This is the review I was hoping for especially the 10 minute part about productivity, I like what you say "bigger and higher quality", I dare you to open up some old software that hasn't been updated for years ;D and see if it even appears on the screen or if it's a dot in the corner.. like something like "IP Camera 4" haha
Love the video! I'm so glad you talked about productivity as someone who games but also works from home. One question, I love your desk shelf and it seems like a great size for the monitor! Which desk shelf is it?
Hey Pete! I really love your channel! I am trying to decide between getting 2 32" G9, 4K monitors or this single 57" Beast!! Given that the pricing is just about the same for the 2 32" G9's or this single 57", which set up would you recommend and why?
Hey Pete thank you for the video I am using 49 inch OLED. I have been having issues connecting macbook pro 2019 to it. How did you connect yours to a mac? I am just swaping cables trial and error and going crazy sort of :)
So from th evideos I've seen, it looks like the scenery is """stretched""" quite a bit. I starting to look at upgrading for MSFS and wonder about 3 identical monitors to reduce the risk of that stretch. Appreciate your point of view
Im a Samsung 49" fan like you. Have worked through 3 versions. Have been on the fence on this monitor, but your video has helped me make the decision to buy. Thank-you!
@PeteMatheson ohhhh the plight of loving the shiny! There's always an upgrade just a short turn around the corner. Just wish my pockets were a little deeper! 😄
I'm currently running 3 27" monitors and just can't make myself go down to a screen this small. Yes that's a massive single screen but my setup now is a 81". My 4090 is getting well over 190fps in mist games with max setting. My resolution is 7810X1440 that's a little over 6k because I have the Nvidia surround set for bezel correction.
I got one yesterday. I do not play video games, just productivity and this screen is so much fun! I have have 3 computers running at the same time or just one. I just wish the switch could be faster.
This is absolutely insane! I been trying to wrap my head around how to actually separate my work and comfort because I'd like a simple minimalist MacBook Pro setup for my office, a mini itx powerhouse for the living room for a plex server media and gaming space but I don't know what to do with the master bedroom. I don't want or need something like this because holy moly it would take up like a massive space in my room 🤣 I would like some sort of desk like a corner desk kind of deal but something to just plug my MacBook into and watch Netflix or a frame tv maybe but dang this is crazy! I wouldn't have a clue what to do with something like this 😂
Hello, I'd like to ask a question. For productivity you've set this monitor up as two seperate side by side 32inch monitors but you mentioned you can almost treat it as a triple monitor because of how large it is. Is it possible to set up a central 32inch monitor with two side monitors? A triple virtual desktop with the centre screen with task bar at the bottom? I imagine the centre used for your main focused work or game, one sode for work chats and emails or discord and another side for a web browser or document or video, something like that? Thank you for your time.
The only card that supports 2.1 DisplayPort and HDMI is the new amd Radeon 7000 series like the 7900 xtx. The 4090 only supports HDMI 2.1 and has DisplayPort 1.4. Hoped this helped.
Thank you! Yes I do - I have the HX HD mount already. The pivot doesn't support the weight, but the rest of the arm does. I'm hoping they'll just bring out a new pivot rather than the whole arm
If you get a better GPU test if the Scanline-Issue with higher frequancies still exist!? And does it work to Switch inputs and picture modes with DDC/CI commands over DP?
I have MacBook Pro with Touch Bar from 2018, thunderbolt 3 ports. Can I connect my MacBook to Samsung Odyssey G9 and run it on max available resolution this monitor provides?
I have put my name on preorder list (in Australia - missed the first preorder ) to replace my nearly 10 year old 2x 27 inch Asus screens - wondering how this stacks up in comparison to the 49 inch OLED thats coming out as well - this still the better option ? ! I have a 7900 XTX but think I may need to upgrade from my 8700k to see the max anility of this screen
OLED generally looks better, but this is way bigger. Depending on what you want to do with it, this screen may last multiple times longer because it will never burn in.
Well thanks for this video I’m really tempted to buy it. With that monitor i can have 2 screens at 4k resolution...and to do video-editing in 4k and to use also ps5 in 4k not feasible with previous models G9 because they are in 1440 if you activated the function to split the screen.I’ll wait for the price to come down
What can we get out of this monitor if we set it up like this. Macbook M1 pro 16 2x thunderbolt to displayport 1.4 cable And the monitor set to display 2 source at once? İs Dual 4K @144hz without any bar in between is possible?
Ah thank you so much! Unless you have the best gaming PC then you won't be able to drive the full resolution, so you'll have to drop to a lower resolution. But even then, for the upgraded size and PPI I think it's worth it. Oled is great and would technically be nicer image quality, but again it's that curve that I love about these G9 models 👍🏼
Of course, it's noticeable, but not by that much, especially when compared to the jump from 81 PPI to 93 PPI (1080p to 1440p on a 32" screen). The G9 Neo 49" looks crisp enough; it's still hard to notice individual pixels from 60-80 cm. If you want to buy the 57" model for gaming, you'll need a very powerful GPU for AAA games. An RTX 4090 would be preferable.
@@socialreport999 I have a curved 32 inch monitor at the moment and not to be a snob but 1440p games look too blurry for me on it sometimes. I’m just wondering how crisp the oled G9 is as the ppi is not *that* much higher than 1440p on 32 inches although I am now wondering if I had dlss on when I was trying 1440p… I have a 3080 and play on that 32 inch 4K monitor but only 60Hz so upgrading to even 120hz would be amazing
Personally, hugely noticeable to me. As someone who sits at the desk a few hours each day! 49’s weren’t that bad, but I’ve been desperate for some extra vertical resolution for a while now.
@@PeteMatheson Agreed :) I saw 4K 32", the fonts are much better. In games/videos maybe it's less noticeable according to some independent tests, I had to precise that aspect.
@@PeteMatheson alrighty I’ll probably go for the 57inch when I get round to upgrading. I’ll make sure to use your affiliate too for your help. Cheers :)
I am also planning to buy this monitor. Have you tested it with your older Mac by connecting two cables to the monitor and using it in a dual monitor mode (PIP)? Would you then achieve the maximum resolution, equivalent to two 4K monitors? I have a Mac Mini M1 and I wonder if it would work.
hey man, please i need your advice. i have the g9 neo 49' . do you really recommend upgrading to the 57' ? i just got the 49' from best buy and i can return and get the 57' so what do you think
I also have an odyssey G9 but a 49 inch and I’ve also on a couple of other odyssey G9s. And I’ve noticed sometimes when just turning on the monitor, you’ll get these horizontal blurred outlines across the whole screen and way to fix it is to unplug the monitor and plug it back in or power the monitor down and then back on again or if leave it alone for about five minutes and it will disappear. Does this happen on the new 57 inch version of the odyssey G9.???? your videos is only eighth days old, so maybe it hasn’t happened yet or maybe they fix the issue, in any case I would like to know if this is happened?
Known issue that happened with earlier generations of the 49" G9 - I've not experience that on any of mine other than when I bought the original G9 a couple of years back
Dude you need to get the heavy adaptor for the arm, the one you have needs to be switched out, same brand as the arm. I have it on my G9 and it does not shrug forward anymore, I can angle it up :)
Hi Pete, great video and love the setup, and the fact you displayed Windows and Mac! I know you mentioned PIP/PBP for solving your issue with the Mac. I was wondering if you get the chance whether you could test / comment on the results you can achieve with a windows laptop? My work laptop can support 2 external UHD monitors at 60hz (5k@60hz via TB4 and 4k@60hz via a HDMI port) and I was wondering whether I could achieve a borderless desktop similar to the video experience we can see at 10:56 using 2 separate cables; DP-USBC and HDMI-HDMI. (I appreciate this would be limited to 60hz) Many thanks in advance!
Hey! Thanks for watching & leaving the comment 👍🏼 Yep absolutely you can do this with your windows laptop, as long as you have the right cables to do so! Window management in windows is a bit better too so it should be much better to use for multi-windows etc !
This review is everything I've wanted! Instant sub! Have the 1800 g9 right now, it's nice, but more size was what I thought I needed. So I bought the Ark when it was on sale, hated it (it would have been perfect if it did the same split like the g9 does, 4 zone split would have been cool)... But this 57 is seeming like the monitor I need!
I have the Neo G9 49”…. Please tell me this 57” is taller… Please tell me it is…? I hate the shallow vertical view and i need something with better screen ratio for better height when playing.
Is there any update on getting 240hz with nVidia cards? Will I have to connect it with 2 cables to get this refresh rate, but having two logical screens? No other workarounds like SLI-like dual DP connection?
at the moment this screen is only available on the Samsung website here in Australia - my question is when will it become available in retail stores ? I am really keen to replace my 2 x 10 year old 27 inch screens which so this ultrawide will be something of a new experience to go with my recently obtained 7900XTX- Not sure which country you from Pete ? UK ?
I believe the difference in color in the PBP can be adjusted, I am able to do so on Dell 49 under PBP option>Contrast. See if that is available on this beast and help you.
haha! Congrats on the new screen. This is actually just a kitchen worktop from IKEA, sat on 2 drawer units. Super cheap. My only issue is that it's quite shallow.
Theoretically, most modern GPUs have DSC, whivh stands for display stream compresion and even though nvidia is still stuck at HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 it should still have the necessary bandwidth to run 8k at 240hz. DSC has a ratio of 3.75:1 so id say it has to do with drivers and optimization rather than being a purely hardware limitation. Also a question for PETE, for gaming only (just from PC), and maybe some light YT watching would you still recommend this monitor over the oled g9?
@@PeteMatheson okay... I get the size part, but even at 1440p and lower PPI isn't OLED looking better? I mean isn't that contrast and extreme response time (0.003ms) making up for the downsides? I am genuinely asking because at least where I live I can't really see them on display to make a comparison side by side and stats are just numbers nothing compares to seeing them, let alone using them.
What do you think? Best monitor ever? Or are there better?

Thank you! Yep - likewise. The G9 has been my favourite screen - and now there's a 57"... insanely good!

Sometimes I'm baffled by how fast after a release of a product the price already drops significantly. Definitely worth to wait a bit.
I'm thinking of waiting for the Black Friday sales. Do you reckon it'll come down by then?
The light leak though like at 13:27 would drive me nuts, OLED is much superior
Dream Monitor for me = 21:9 Ultrawide 38 at 5120 x 2160 240HZ.Currently using the G9 OLED
It’s a fair point! But unless you’re playing a lot of dark games with piercing whites it’s not that noticeable.
But agree, OLED is of course going to be better. I just want this in oled and with usb c! 😬
Agree 100%
Agree 100%
Nvidia doesn't support it yet on 40 series? How bout 30 or 20?
It may diffuse it into larger areas of light, but when using the screen I can't see any form of reflections, diffused or not - so I'd call that a win :)
Like I said in the video, I'm not one to benchmark and get into all the nitty gritty. But I am someone who uses this screen for a good 6-8 hours every day, and I've used every single version of the previous gen 49" G9 models - so hope that perspective is useful to people watching!
@@PeteMatheson if you upgrade to a 4090 you will still capped at 120hz. you need a 5090(not released yet) or a RX 7000 series (7950 for that res...)

So it's not possible to have two computers side by side both at 240hz? Or 240hz and 60hz? That would be amazing for dual PC streaming.

Ok.. No, I don't believe I am actually. I am talking about image quality in gaming, not how many windows I can put on thw screen at the same time.
the reson oled does not need 1000r is that it is not a va panel hence why they need the 1800r curve on va panels

Just reading up on this - hopefully the update comes out soon, otherwise it looks like I'll be waiting for the 50 series! 😬

Awesome video! You got my sub
The Atdec AWMS-BT40 heavy duty mount supports this monitor.
Question as a streamer: Can you run a game at 21:9 (not the 32:9) in the center while also using the excess space on the sides for programs like OBS or Chat?
with extra programs. yes. you can do it with fancy zones. but its not perfect.

Are you able to hook up 2 separate devices and see both on screen? I want to have my work and personal computer on screen simultaneously. Thanks.
Yes you can use Picture by Picture for this!
"The first DUAL UHD Monitor that can show two 4k Resolution pictures side by side"
*cries in RTX 3060*
😂
what KVM do you use to switch between all the different inputs?
I love my screen and I feel like these are going to be so buggy anyways and their QC is terrible
more than happy to support - keep churning out them reviews ....
Hah! Appreciated man :) Thank you 🙏
Thank you for the review! Hoping to buy one of these or the 49" version for software engineering/gaming.

Hi Great Viv, I am Torn between the this G9 and the ARK. What do you think? I game lots :)
Personally I'd go with the G9 over the ark.
You'd be better going for an actual TV over the Ark - It's basically a TV in everything but nam already!
What's the office setup? Desk/chair/keyboard/etc/
Perhaps next year's version gets those features.
Can’t wait! I’ll pick it up this time next year 😂 should be half off of this price 😛

That's exactly what I want a super ultrawide for and I've been asking for if anyone can do it. Until then I'd most likely use it in a 16:9 in the middle with two horizontal screens at the side.
such a waste tbh
@@Adrian-ep4qm It is. But it's obvious that with the Neo G9, you're really future proofing a lot. It's a waste for now, but honestly my neck's killing me with how I keep turning to my 2nd monitor which also has a terrible panel, the NG9 will be a very luxurious upgrade that will improve my everyday use. And technically, I can still use the ultrawide feature. I personally think it's a weird time to spring for an upgrade to my PC right now, since the 50 series is just a little over a year away(give or take a few months), and it will most likely boast a 2.1 display port.
Haha! Very welcome! Can't quite work out what I intentionally or non intentionally did, but you're welcome! 😂
You can use DP 2.1 now with a Radeon RX 7000 series.
Hey! 👋🏼
I use my screen 90% of the time for work.

Unfortunately not unless you can do it with software.
I’m using Picture by Picture which allows 2 sources to be shown at most. You can’t do 3 sources.
Subbed! Question, did you notice if the PS5 can support VRR when using PIP mode with Fortnite on just one side of the monitor?
The only card that supports 2.1 DisplayPort and HDMI is the new amd Radeon 7000 series like the 7900 xtx. The 4090 only supports HDMI 2.1 and has DisplayPort 1.4. Hoped this helped.
Nice video!
Just to clarify. Do you have the heavy duty adapter for the Ergotron or not?
How is the heat output with this monitor? The G9 I have right now will melt your face off if used daily.
😂
It gets pretty warm! But hey, it keeps your room nice and toasty in the winter?
Question: Is it still worth grabbing the Samsung G9 Original that came out a couple years ago for like €800?
With that monitor i can have 2 screens at 4k resolution...and to do video-editing in 4k and to use also ps5 in 4k not feasible with previous models G9 because they are in 1440 if you activated the function to split the screen.I’ll wait for the price to come down
Yep you can indeed!
Hopefully there's some good deals to be had around black friday
What can we get out of this monitor if we set it up like this.
Macbook M1 pro 16
2x thunderbolt to displayport 1.4 cable
And the monitor set to display 2 source at once?
İs Dual 4K @144hz without any bar in between is possible?
are you using PBP for the dual monitor thing? and i guess you cant have 240hz then? same as on the g9 49 oled?
Awesome video. One of the best G9 57 videos thus far. Sub earned! For gaming purposes would you recommend the 57 over the G9 Oled?
Ah thank you so much!
Unless you have the best gaming PC then you won't be able to drive the full resolution, so you'll have to drop to a lower resolution.
But even then, for the upgraded size and PPI I think it's worth it.
Oled is great and would technically be nicer image quality, but again it's that curve that I love about these G9 models 👍🏼

So is the PPI bump from 108 to 140 really noticeable?
Were the 49inch G9s a little "screendoory"?
Of course, it's noticeable, but not by that much, especially when compared to the jump from 81 PPI to 93 PPI (1080p to 1440p on a 32" screen). The G9 Neo 49" looks crisp enough; it's still hard to notice individual pixels from 60-80 cm.

Any issues with using macbook pro m1, m2, m3?
And also does it do screen in screen so i could have two computers running same time?
(I appreciate this would be limited to 60hz)
Many thanks in advance!
Hey! Thanks for watching & leaving the comment 👍🏼
Yep absolutely you can do this with your windows laptop, as long as you have the right cables to do so! Window management in windows is a bit better too so it should be much better to use for multi-windows etc !
have one of the older 49" ultrawides connected to my mac mini m1. It's home working paradise. 2 virtual desktops open next to each other.
The newer Ark allows multiple screens from multiple HDMI sources on screen at once 👍
@@DuecePiece they could have easily done that on the first gen. It's just software. Loosing it with Samsung.
Thank you for show me how to set the height!
I have a M3 MacBook Pro. Can I use two cables and use this monitor as two different separate monitors?
Is this bigger than three 32” g7’s? I want to either but two extra g7’s or a g9 57”, dont care about the bezels in the three monitor setup.
If you had to choose between this one, and the 49" OLED, would it be this one?
Any recommendation where to sale or trade in a 49' G9?
Can you stack two of these on top of each other? Thanks.
Did Ergoton come up with better Monitor arm for this monitor?
I have the Neo G9 49”…. Please tell me this 57” is taller… Please tell me it is…?
I hate the shallow vertical view and i need something with better screen ratio for better height when playing.
it is taller! And so much better imo :)
UK ?
I believe it's out in the US in a couple of weeks time.
Surprised that we get it here in the UK before anyone else!?
Available to order now from the US!

Not sure about Aus though :(
I believe the difference in color in the PBP can be adjusted, I am able to do so on Dell 49 under PBP option>Contrast. See if that is available on this beast and help you.
0:29 Nice Spyderco!
hah! Thanks - good spot :)
Which desk do you have? Ordered this bad boy and am thinking I might need to upgrade my desk!
haha! Congrats on the new screen.
This is actually just a kitchen worktop from IKEA, sat on 2 drawer units. Super cheap. My only issue is that it's quite shallow.
Thanks for the reply! Also using a kitchen table. Might have to build my next one!
great editing, keep it up
🙌🏼 thank you!
I realllly prefer the 57" size. I'd take the size and resolution over OLED.
BUT - the OLED version of this would be epic.
