Was joker a self insert for seth green? The character feels so out of place in a universe where people are literallty engineered in a lab,entire species can be sterilized,A.I. is self aware,biotics can move objects with there mind and a rouge orginization can bring peiple back from he dead.... but your weak bones have no solution? Much less your in the military flying ships that have centiant A.I. computers whos capabilities far exceed any humans.
Weird take that shows little knowledge of the universe. Thane also has a chronic, terminal, disease. They haven't managed to fix everything. And no, the military ships did not have sentient AI, sentient AI is banned. EDI was developed by and installed on the Normandy by Cerberus who don't care about Council law. Not to mention in game, EDI and Joker work out it is more effictive for them to work together than either of them having sole control of the ship.
The fact there isn't a fix for him did put him super out of place. We could potentially fix that right now with some metal implants. They should have made him a body purist or something that denied the treatment and looped it back in with how his disability put him in the right place at the right time
He literally says at one point that he didn't do the cyborg thing because it screwed with his ability to fly properly. So in a way he IS a body purist. He doesn't need TOO much strength to fly as well as he does, but he does need 100% control of what he does.
@Bacxaber It was a side thing on the Citadel in ME1. The funny part is their roles flip in the later games where the mom is being a super fussy parent that is worried about everything, and the uncle is super chill and tells her he's doing just fine. It's standard to get genetic enhancement upon joining the military, they talk about it again on Novaria, and there are multiple you can get through ME2 and ME3. It isn't a guaranteed take, there is a range about how well they do, and you need recovery time between them and can only have so much. Shepard, being Shepard, breaks many of these rules, but even were they to have given Joker as extensive genetic modification as his body could take, no guarantee it would help to any noticeable degree. By ME2 he has also gotten a lot better. In ME1 he mentions that even with crutches it's hard for him to get around, in ME2 and later he can walk under his own power, just not run around and crap, and still needs to be careful. He directly says when you ask about his condition without the technology level they have he'd have died in infancy. That he is still alive shows just how much better things have gotten medically.
And yet for some reason I can't help but feel Joker was the one getting punched and not the one who wanted to do the punching.

Isn't genetic engineering optional (i.e. not everyone has it done)? I recall a couple in ME3 debating whether or not to do it to their child.
