I'm 39 years old, and this past weekend, I made a reference to the dancing guy in front of a bunch of kids in their early-mid 20's... not a single one of them knew who the heck I was talking about. 😕 I work on the tech team for a band, and they were joking about letting one of the lighting guys (who admittedly can't sing or play music) be in the band, and he said his part could be to just bounce around on the side of the stage. I said, "What, like the Mighty Mighty Bosstones? 😀" They all just stopped and looked at me like I had 3 eyes. He said, "The who?" I said, "You don't know who they are?" The lead guitar girl asked, "The Mighty what?" I said, "The Mighty Mighty Bosstones...??" She said, "I have no idea." And all the 20-something's concurred. And I felt really, really old for a while.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm 25 and enjoy the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. My best friend's in a ska band too and they're all between the ages of 17 and 25.
@@AlmostaFlipinSkater 17 year old here and I'm not in his/her ska band - however, I have my own ska band with people between 14 and 18 [well, soon 19]. Also, I love the Bosstones a lot; they're the first ska band I got into and the only one I consistently listen to every dy.
Artists often perform live in a lower key than when they record in a studio, because it's so hard to hit the high notes without any retakes. These guys are doing the same key, and he's just going an octave down at times, and not growling as much, and it works.

Love the fact that this band has my heart as a punk, also from Boston, and can we just mention the fact that Dickie with Sunglasses and a beard makes him look like Jack Nicholson when he did “The Departed” 😅 all jokes guys. But fr wish this band was still around and I’d have a chance to catch them live. Too good to miss ❤

I'll never get sick of realizing they're like the only band to have a dancer as an full member- and it's amazing. *ok I see your comments..and I will rephrase..the only band I know of that has a full time dancer.
@robr5786 I'm a youngin' and it's been pointed put several bands are known for this. Still rad..they only did it so they could sneak him unto shows when he was underage, love that
I've played rock and roll guitar my entire life since I was about 10 then just turn 62 but I got to tell you Ska band looks like a lot of fun It might not have the screamen guitars but they definitely got the energy thanks for having them Jimmy, these guys are cool

This video proves how awesome ska music is; in fact, I'm actually trying to get a ska band started at school. Sure, it won't be a new Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and definitely not even at the level of the Skatalites, but it's gonna be quite an experience.
@@ericthayer2409 Thanks so much! I was able to make it work out, but school got in the way, so we weren't able to do as much. Years back around 2017, drowning pool played free gig in Tempe,az, and let the kids from the audience come up on stage, was Kool, I'd tried but I was too old lol
Because there was no energy and adults don't dance to the same thing 10 year old kids are dancing to. This was fun for them I'm sure...but below average for the audience and what they hoped and expected.
When your dad has the coolest job in the world...and he lets you hang out while he's working.
Stay home
my dad was literally in the band😂
That’s awesome and he has merit in bringing a lot of joy to people.
I can’t help but feel like the crowd just doesn’t appreciate this banger of a jam as much as they should.
Why enjoy yourself and dance during an amazing performance when you could just record it to not watch later?
Well I mean, it's probably cuz there's 20 kids on the stage jumping around trying to dance. Kinda changes the entire vibe lol
@@danm2084 but still! I’d be singing a lot with him ! NEVER HAD TO KNOCK ON WOOD
It says a lot about these guys that they turned their hit song into a celebration of family. So many artists grow old and resent their “hits”.
