Though accuracy is linear, I tend to focus on load development at around 700 yards. Using a 1/2 MOA plate. Majority of PRS points are gathered at 350-700 yards. I believe it's crucial to know your rifles tendencies and spend the time learning what your load does at these distances. Often, loads develop that shoot extremely well at 100 yards, fall apart at distance. Is it BC deviation?. From your F Class expirence, I would be honored to hear your expirence pertaining to this
Agreed here Eagle Eye. True'ing ballistics is critical for PRS. I spend more time validating/true'ing (vertical POI) than I do "developing" a load. The 6mm variants are very forgiving as it relates PRS accuracy expectations (1/2 MOA and < 20 FPS ES). If you have high confidence in your vertical ballistic, then miss is a wind adjustment, effectively removing a (horizontal) dimension I need to think about while shooting a stage. True'ing: 1. verify zero at 100; 2. True velocity at 500; 3. True BC at 1000 (or something 800+). If you can get those three points confirmed, all the dots on the curve between 100 and 1000 will spot on elevation wise.
Any video that shows ways to do things differently is good, even if the concept is the same everyone will have a way to do theirs slightly different and you have more than enough merit to be worth a watch

Another video on 100 yrds would be interesting, because it comes closer to what I usually can do in Germany, where I'm forced to 100 m, where longer ranges are a bit rare. What I found in optimising my 6.5 CM loads was, that at a certain point the 100 m range will not reveal any difference, especially when targeting the seating depth, so I went up to 300 m for testing and came back with some solid results.

So I have been shooting PRS for about a year now and I can tell you most people are really slowing our bullets down. I have not really seen anyone running above 2900 on Dasher, most of us are at 2800-2850 for better spotting fo trace and impacts with less recoil. I find it interesting you are running your Dasher so fast and look forward to seeing you shooting a few matches and providing feedback afterwards. Appreciate what you don on your channel.

Yes the 100yd testing would be great to see. I'm not a good enough shooter to do my load work up at 600yd. It's also more opportunity to see how you interpret the groups. I would love to see how you would load for for “normal” guns like an AR10/AR15 in things like 6.5 creedmoor, 308 Winchester, 300 Blackout and 223 Remington at 100 yards as it is what I shoot a ton. Would love to hear what you think about progressive machines too like the Dillon Xl750 or the RL1100 as that is what I use. I have been reloading now for 4 years and am now getting curious about the accuracy side of it while still pumping out volume. Thanks for the content!

FWIW, I did "load development" at 1000 yards and called it quits, when I shot Full-bore. Pig hunting rifles were tested at 100 yards, which was about a maximum range.

Hello, I really like the way you approch the "best load" on PRS. How do you decide the bullet seating depth on the initial test (in Germany the saying goes: to be precise start off with 0.1mm back from the lands, and then go on for seating depth with the best load). What is your choise? Also I see 8 shots on each testing roung (you made 5 rounds with different loads?). You mention the loads 32.0 - 32.2 - 32.4 - 32.6 - 32.8 and 33.0 (which make 6 ). How does that fit tiogether? Or better What was in the load #1, #2 - #8? Or do I misinterpret that? Best regards, Jesper

When you do the powder charge test do you shoot one shot from each powder charge round robin style aiming at the same spot? Also I am shooting burger VLD hunting bullets. Would you start 15 in the lands while doing the powder charge test with these bullets? Thanks for your knowledge
I typically run VLDs 10 into the lands. Yes, at 600 yards, I do a round robin of powder charges and see where they land reference each other, but I do the entire series at least 3 times to see if the result is consistent from one series to the next.

I would back down to 850ms max. Low recoil and spotting misses/plate tilt is the name of the game. Unless you are Morgun, it really makes things easier.

Reloaddata recommend 39.4 grain max load, expirienced friend recommend 42 grain from quickload. Dont understand the difference. He says Reloaddata are way understated. I am insecure now where i shut Start and End with my powdercharge.
I'd like to see a video where you start with 50 pieces of brass, 100 (1 box) bullets and an appropriate powder, and develop a "hunting" load... say 2" 3 shot group at 200 yards and still have 20-25 bullets left to load for actual use ;) anything in the .308 family/ case size/ for deer sized game..

Most people run 6mm slow in PRS. Not uncommon to see people run between 2750-2850. I personally run 6mm between 2650-2750, generally 2700. Traveling often for PRS matches all over the country, it's safer to run slow to avoid pressure from heat, rain, and snow that you often encounter from matches all over the US.
I think what you meant is if one tuned their load to 2700 at 50 F the velocity wouldn't drop off much in the snow and you would have some headroom in the heat. If you tuned to 2700 at 70 F you might lose 40 fps in the snow and pick up 30 fps at 100 F. I see what you are saying. You could also look at the weather forecast where you are travelling and bump your load up or down a couple of tenths of a grain, depending on your cartrige size. Most of us don't think tuning nodes are 70-80 fps wide. That's the conundrum in my mind.

Testing at 100 is very important, as sometimes the wind can be too gusty for proper long range development.

For small cartridges, yes. I use 0.5% of the total charge as a step amount.
Yes, 100 yard testing. That's the only distance for testing that I have available.

Hey im still new to reloading and stuff and i got a question, why do you choose 32.4 and 32.6 when number 2 grouping is tighter?
Because 2 was isolated, leaving little room for error either side.

Adjacent charges did not group with it consistently and they also showed tendencies to make bigger overall groups.

#1 had 2 significant low impacts, and #3 had a high hit. Those are suggestive of an unstable condition.

Blown primers cost the #2 the win at the world championships, but man could that guy handle recoil like it was an air rifle.
