    Being cheap and being frugal are different. She use to be cheap, but is frugal now❣ 👏👏
    "Cheap people are driven by saving money regardless of the cost; frugal people are driven by maximizing total value, including the value of their time. ... Being cheap is about spending less; being frugal is about prioritizing your spending so that you can have more of the things you really care about."

    Choosing a partner who is likeminded in the financial sense also helps. As you stated, your boyfriend made a smart decision that eventually affected the both of you. This will help avoid future problems in that area and will help both parties reach goals faster.

    Consider keeping your emergency fund in a money market account (which is liquid and similar to a checking acct), it gives much better interest. Bottom line is: dont expect to make money off your emergency fund. Everything above 3-6 months expenses you can invest in 401k or roth IRA, or keep in money market account if you're saving for a house

    Love your channel. It’s taught me so much. I found myself in the store today grabbing things I “needed” and ended up putting them back because I really didn’t need them. I’m proud of myself 🤍 at some point, can you talk about advice for being a minimalist when you get an array of free things?

    Definitely some great tips!! I think some people get lost spending like they are actually receiving their gross pay vs their net pay, which can lead to overspending.

    You can check the oil level by yourself I suggest doing that frequently, it's easy you just pull the stick out and see if it's above normal levels. Never never drive a car without oil, oil here is maybe 15 $ but motor change is a lot lot more. 😄

    I recently ordered from a everything £5 store thinking I might be able to get some winter clothes without spending a lot, the quality was dreadful.. everything got sent back. Lesson learnt.
    Unlike me, as I’m a saver and only spend when I need to. I guess cutting corners doesnt always pay off.

    • @tiarasmith6174
      @tiarasmith6174 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I use to be the same way with clothes. Some items didn’t even last 3 months. I now focus on the quality more than the price. Also good quality doesn’t always have to be super expensive. I got a $23 denim jacket from Walmart still in good condition.

    • @Boudi-ca
      @Boudi-ca 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good system. What I’m now doing is buying a few quality items at a time and building it up over a period of time. Rather than buying a bulk of rubbish 😂

    I don't know if anyone's already said this, but I've called all the companies to whom I pay bills (utilities, gas, credit cards, etc.), and they are more than happy to change the billing due date. As long as you pay, they don't care. =) I'm a schoolteacher and therefore get paid the first of the month, and all my bills are paid by the 3rd. It's great, I don't forget to pay anything, and the best part is it's DONE!

    • @genj1184
      @genj1184 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for that! I had no idea. My mom is also a school teacher so she usually does everything bill related on that one specific pay day which happens to be at almost the end of the month.

    I'm addicted to that online shopping experience :( like I need to shop.... just putting stuff in my cart and seeing the package waiting for mdle at my porch gives me some type of happiness. How do you stop trying to find happiness with objects:/

    • @genj1184
      @genj1184 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you realize that the happiness you get from objects/material items is only temporary, it will change you. Focus your attention on the things & people around you that you can put your time and effort into rather than store bought goods. You can start by unsubscribing from store email promotions/sales. Stop watching people on TH-cam that do the opposite of your goals. Get rid of useless things. Find hobbies that build character. You can do it!

      The way I got better is I had to ask myself how is this gonna add value to my life. I did that a couple years ago when I bought a mk purse. I used it only a couple of times. After I had my son I started carrying a tote bag as it was more practical. Now All I use is a tote bag, a backpack, and a crossbody bag.

    • @Iman_el_ba
      @Iman_el_ba 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      헤정 our religion forbids us to earn from interests and we also shouldn’t pay interests. That means we should think twice before taking out a loan. Some of the reasons behind this is to remove sentiments of selfishness and self-centeredness. I don’t only speak about banks, also when you borrow money from a friend, he’s not allowed to ask for more than he gave you. Same thing with other material things, not only money. Hope I could answer your question.
