Love nkuwan the way you show it! You really focus on showing off the watch. I don't think any other TH-camr can show off watches in as much detail as you.
very true on the 'spend time with it to know it' part. big brands should start a service where one could lend a watch for a certain amount of time to see if they truly like it or not
Really enjoying the videos, video ideas, I really enjoy when people do interviews with watch people about their collection, what they have and why? The memories around there collecting and why.
'I get excited about how powerful the watch is vs how pretty the watch is'.... I NEED TO PUT THIS UP ON MY WALL!! 🤙 Great episode, Adrian! Would love to hear your long-form opinions over a podcast. Miss the About Effing Time days
Investing in a high-end luxury watches such as a seamaster can be an exhilarating yet complex financial choice. While these watches may increase in value over time, they also come with maintenance expenses and potential depreciation factors that need careful consideration.
Absolutely, It's not just about owning a beautiful watch but also understanding the market trends. Consulting a watch investment specialist or a financial advisor with expertise in alternative investments can help navigate the complexities and ensure you make informed decisions.
Absolutely. And with the fear of not being able to retire comfortably, people might be tempted to make risky investments or neglect proper financial planning, which could spell trouble for their portfolios in the long run.
Absolutely, I share your sentiment entirely. Personally, I've been considering the Omega as a potential passion investment. Given my current financial situation, I'm weighing the pros and cons of such a decision. Do you have any guidance on how I should proceed with this choice?
It's crucial for individuals to diversify their portfolios, seek professional financial advice, and stay informed about market trends to navigate these challenges effectively.
Love the interview style and definitely video rather than podcast. But also really enjoy the 7-10min videos where you’re sharing your views in general. Would also be great to see a collection status update and what left etc.
My favorite videos of yours are the adventure videos: the Explorer II in Zermat, snowboarding at the Oris event, and your original Explorer I videos. I also would love to see conversation videos with a guest, like Harrison and Britt!
Thank you Adrian to talk about the price topic, I personally think that many watches are not reasonable to buy anymore. I completely lost interest about some brands. It's insane.
@barkandjack - I love your content and honest feedback on watches, Adrian! Please keep more of those videos coming brother!! Lastly I love the quality of B&J watch straps.. Now the summer is coming up in the US, I need to switch some of my watches to Nato straps lol
Smiths PRS-29A has sort of killed my desire for an expensive watch for now.... have owned omegas, iwc, rolex etc... but I'm getting bored by the hype and cost of it all... so i have the little 36mm hand wind on a nato, and watching from the side lines Edit - it basically is a micro brands made in Asia.... right... but... the watch is gorgeous, quality selita movement, great specs ... at this point i don't mind that the brand is not one of the top players
Regarding the £30k watch part, your point also makes sense for why to spend £30k on a Rolex and not a more fragile being from AP, PP etc. So I did and I don't baby the Rolex, nor does it feel like I should. A daily that carries real gravitas.
Great video, mate. I’ve had a change of heart around the new F1 and think your comments are actually pretty fair. I won’t be surprised if we see a similar release (without the Kith LE aspect) in the long-term.
My overall favorite vintage is the ref. 18038: 1. it's worn by so many important people. Presidents, athletes, actors and even dictators. 2. it's actually affordable at 13-15k 3. it's the perfect size for a dress watch 36mm.
I love fuji cameras, I think if I had the X100 (any of that series), I'd pretty much use it for the excellent film simulations 99% of the time. I think the size of the camera and the fixed lens really lends itself to just shoot and posting.
I once dropped my Aqua Terra onto the tiles from a height of five feet. I heard a big bang, checked my watch and nothing had happened. Then I looked at the floor fearing I had broken some tiles... I was probably lucky, but on that occasion the watch had proven to be super solid.
What's good to know is that if your Aqua Terra was under warranty and the glass had cracked and movement needed servicing Omega would have covered that under the warranty. I don't know if any other brands do that.
@@dudeymcduderson The watch is still under warranty, but that fall didn't cause anything. I was expecting at least some marks or a scratch but nothing.
I agree with the seamaster statement but the VC overseas is pretty tough and having 150m water resistance is more than enough! I wear my chrono 5500v everyday and no problems whatsoever.
Another excellent video 👍 Just to get ahead of the game before the next Q&A, what's your thoughts on the new CW Twelve X? Do you think it's worth it for the extra cost? Thanks
Would love to see you in a podcast with a good cohost. In terms of TH-cam, long form (which in my mind can be as short as 7 minutes) is great. Congratulations on Bark and Jack, I have several straps and they’re all fantastic. The sand seventy30 has been on my FXD black dial the last few days.
Great content Adrian, I prefer a longer pod / conversation, just you or with an another. More details and nuances, short vids seem rushed and lack the in depth info. Heading over to the website, looking for a new nato for my Murph, my fave everyday watch. I’m a big fan of Chris Nolan so it makes it extra special for me. Looking forward to the next one. X
Another thought after rewatching the video. I walked around a luxury shopping area and window shopped some watches. For the most part, the jewerly places keep the doors locked and they have to buzz you in. The general jewerly store that has GO, GS, Tudor, Omega, etc., buzzed me in when I was looking at display models. I asked if I can browse and they said "of course." I looked at GS White Birch and tried on a GO SeaQPanoramadate. My two top choices and seeing them in person confirmed it. Then I walked around some more. I tried to open the door to JLC boutique. No one buzzed me in. Maybe didn't see me but most likely no one is watching the door like other places. Next door was Cartier. Few people were standing outside. I asked the lady at the door if I can come in. "Our associates are busy, you will need to make an appointment and wait outside." Apparently, you need a sales person attached at the hip and can't just browse. So guess which two brands I'm never buying? Cartier and JLC, if you're spending money on market research which I hope you are and you're reading this, give people an option as to how they want to shop. The long lines outside your stores and locked doors are really off-putting. Your snobbery will come around to bite you. Your high prices are also making people like myself cross you off their list forever. I ordered a $60k car online without hassle. I won't allow myself to be treated like a begger when purchasing an expensive item. I walked into a few other high end clothing boutiques and as soon as you walk through the door, a salesperson follows you around and talks non-stop about things you're not even interested in. That's not the shopping experience I'm looking for.
Since you asked for content suggestions, if you and Andrew Morgan collaborated on a weekly podcast, that would be epic. You both bring something unique to the subject of watches, and IMO the response would be very positive.

I saw the price hike with the Seikos and Omega. I wasn't paying attention to JLC but they must all be in the same boat. Except Rolex, charge what they like, don't care about customrrs at all. They're selling a dream.

One of the things I like about your channel at the moment is that most of your videos are on the 'short' side, as far as watch content goes. I like that most of your videos come-in under 10 minutes. That's good for me. Shorter. Snappier. Focused. Still full of your personality, but talking about something specific. More of that would be good, but let's be honest.. I'd watch your content anyway 💁♂
Just for balance and to dispel some myths, I dropped a box of Patek's including grand comps from over 6ft and all was fine. I trod on 2 different submariners, all ok, but my wife's DJ was toast when she hit the crown on (well nothing if you ask her) and bent the stem so it wouldn't wind. A gold crown was a few hundred quid and a service, all was back to new.
My watch goal for 2024 is not to buy any watches.

An idea for you … why not go to Japan and visit all those Grand Seiko lakes and mountains … or take your Explorer around the world in 80 days.
Yes, y’all should come to Japan. Japanese Yen is depreciating, so I guess everything should feel pretty much cheap in Japan.
