"Nintendo games are made for children" should not be a hot take, but here we are.

I do not think because Mario games are made for children that they should be easy. Growing up, I was never discouraged from playing because of the difficulty of Mario Bros 1 through 3. The Lost Levels on All-Stars was definitely not easy. Losing and trying again to me is an important part of games. I am not saying "get good", but I do not think kids need as much hand holding and instant gratification that modern gaming seems is necessary. I really thought the Galaxy games were a perfect balance of accessibility and challenge.

lol, you grew up and you just got good at games, but Mario is for EVERYONE child, adult, old people, and that makes it a better game

Pokémon: my biggest complaint with Pokemon is the world. They make this big open world then randomly throw Pokemon all over the place and it doesn’t even make sense. Why not have Zubats sleeping in a cave at the top, maybe gave a heard of Tauros in a field, or a school of magicarp and really deep in the water is a Gyrados. Instead, they have all the Pokemon just brain dead floating around the area and it ruins the immersion for me and feels pointless and repetitive. Again I love Pokemon. I’ve played every entry and continue playing them but I’m really wanting GameFreak to step it up and make something that feels updated like Nintendo has done with Zelda and Mario

I can see this aspect. Sometimes they were in appropriate locations but a lot of time they were just kinda out there.
They could def build off the ecosystem and put more thought into it.

The peak of mario games was mario galaxy. I didnt finished odyssey because at some point its was rly boring for me. Btw when we talk about bad designed games, lets take Horizon Zero Dawn for example. Stunning art design, wonderful setting but a absolut horrible open world. So much money and in the end we got he same boring souless open world task like in any ubi soft game. collect this, clear 3 of that etc. It was rly disappointing. I agree with Zelda BOTW. It gave back adventure and exploring to the players. Since the ubi formula is standart open world bs today its was wonderful to see what nintendo did with hyrule.

Galaxy is so freaking good! A contender for my favorite 3D Mario Game of all time given whatever day you ask me.
I can see where some of the design choices of Odyssey being boring from time to time. I just had so much fun exploring and finding secrets, with a big grin on my face for most of the time too. Especially that level immediately after finishing the game.
It's funny, I loved Horizon Zero Dawn. The highlight there was the dual narrative and the beautiful world. It was def more of a check box open-world though...I haven't played a lot of those either

@@bitsoftimemedia i wanted to Love Horizon very hard but the gameplay choices they made didnt let me. I played through only because of the story and the setting.

The Point of Mario is to be accessible to anyone and everyone. There's a reason he's the most iconic video game character of all time, mainly due to how his games are easy to understand, easy to learn, and easy to play.

I haven't played Legends Arceus, but given that every time I entered the wild area in Sword I just baffled because a company with Gamefreak's standing could put out such a "Timothy's first Unity Project"-looking and feeling game, it's probably fair to assume that I would not have a good time looking at Legends Arceus (which I think looks considerably worse) for hours on end. From what I've seen in reviews the gameplay seems a bit lazy too, but that might still be fun. Given I'm not willing to give Gamefreak a single cent and I'm not interested enough in Legends Arceus to get it second hand, I'll never know.

    • @bitsoftimemedia

      That’s totally fair.
I enjoyed my time with it, but it’s not for everyone!
Also I’ve played so many retro games with bad frame rates or terrible graphics that I’m a bit more immune to it.

Well I see your point about the weapon durability. Maybe instead of having them completely break... Allow folks to use those pretty rocks that you collect from the mountains and other resources that you can collect from around the world to come together and bring them to a blacksmith and repair them. Or at the very least, be able to pour a considerable amount of resources into your favorite weapon to make it permanent. And it should be an obscene amount to still force you to explore the world and find other weapons. But at least that way when you find something that you really really like you would actually be able to keep it. I would love your take on tears of the Kingdom because I'm very very split on that one. I am not having as much fun and Tears of the Kingdom as I was in Breath of the Wild but I'm still playing it. There's a big part of me that wishes that we were in the past Hyrule that Zelda was in for us to explore and see the differences. Like imagine if the great plateau and Lost woods were switched back into their original positions and then you have the whole split mountain as one mountain and you could just do a lot of different things. I feel like it was a missed opportunity. And you could have still had the sky islands.

Or hell give them maybe double the health or more and then I wouldn't have a problem with it everything feels like it's made of glass to me

I like this happy medium approach. There is some repairable weapons in BotW but they are more “elite” weapons. So a more sampling of those types of weapons would be an interesting gameplay loop. I do wonder though, once again, if you find a set of weapons you really like. Would it make you explore less?
      Unsure.
I’ll add Tears of The Kingdom to the list of potential other games to look at with this video style in mind.
      Thank you for the suggestion!

I honestly loved the art style of legends arceus. I know the graphics wad a huge issue with people. Id personally want them to keep pokemon more cartoon like. The battle system i also love more than the original

I do like the cartoon style as well: I’d actually like for them to experiment with artstyle more. Go even more into the BotW feel with more watercolor like designs and feel

Saying it’s made for kids I would actually say is wrong. Nintendo games are made for everyone. The whole point of their model and the whole reason adults are watching this video right now is

    • @bitsoftimemedia
      @bitsoftimemedia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hmmm. I could see that point. I also think Odyssey proves that theory a bit. Kids can make it through most of the game without help. The end game moons/challenges are a significant jump.
