OK, so, braided brake lines, uprated pads, replacement tyres.......... Total cost £500?? 2 grand saving! Bonus! ....aanndd, you don't need to replace the rear shock, which a lot of CRF owners have needed to do (apparently), as the original isn't up to scratch. Personally, I think it's a great bike, for the price. Well done Kate, unbiased, honest review. Top job!
Dear Kate. One of your true strengths as a reviewer is that you accept every bike as it is and simply have fun with that as a starting point. No high brow hoity toity (Also see my comment on the printed press).
The engine is based on the Kawasaki KLX 300 built under license, the fuel light comes on around 170 miles, not bad for 11 litres. Front pads do take a while to bed in so a bit weak to start with if the bike is very new. You should take it off road, you will be surprised how much fun it is.
Hi.Test rode the CRF and the Voge the same day.CRF knees on the ground,Voge feet on the ground. The extra,s on the Voge that come with it are great. To bring the CRF in line would be maybe another £3-5 hundred pounds add another shock and well the end price is very much something i took into account, plus I am not old enough for a Honda LOL.Bought my voge 4 months ago and will say it is a very honest bike,Would rather it came with a stainless exhaust or alloy or carbon,As i feel the exhaust will be the first thing to let me down i believe its mild steel or similar.Great vid and very well put together.
I only ever use the front brake on my Voge and it’s fine. People say they want a front brake with more bite but as I bought the Voge to be ridden mainly off-road the gentle front brake and great rear brake (with switchable ABS) as backup is a huge positive.
Hi l bought my Voge 300 rally last year from Bolton kawasaki September 2023, for £3,799 on the road, l live in Blackpool and have enjoyed riding the bike it makes me smile with the pops going through the country lanes etc, l bought a lovely sports exhaust for it last December being a R72 full exhaust system from Argentina under £200...and sounds or some, lve owned quite a few bikes over the past 40 years, l find this one a great stylish bike very comfortable to ride cheap to run l enjoy riding it, l find it a better bike than the Honda CRF as it looks and feels very cheap the suspension isn't as good or the frame, l don't like the rear tail light unit it's ugly the Honda doesn't look as good as my Voge as mine feels more solid with the chassis you get a lot of nice looking extras as crash bars, a lovely looking tail tidy, ABS, hand protectors a nice screen... Generally l find it a better stylish looking bike than the Crfs plus your saving £2,500, I'd recommend taking a voge 300 rally out for a test ride you won't be disappointed😅..
I'm always sat at my computer editing or out filming that I don't get to watch as many bike channels on YT in my spare time as i'd like 😫😫 but he is DEFO on the list as I hear so many good things about him 😁
Having ridden it, and having a friend with one, for the money it's a good machine, ground breaking infact. They got the balence just right for a 4k bike. Thanks Kate
Great review Kate I’ve owned mine for 4 months now and I love it. Fitted a set of Michelin trackers and it’s turned it into a superb TET bike. A good value capable trail bike that’s capable of taking a bit of luggage and doing a bit of touring . What’s not to like 👍
I've got mine for a couple of months now and it's a great bike, even not considering the price. The only "necessary" upgrade was a pair of aftermarket brake pads in the front. I don't think the head lights are sufficient though (2x 35 Chinese Watts), but I'll solve that later. The tyres are a surprise on road! Very confidence inspiring. Thicker and thinner seats are available (Uncle Wang's Shop). Got myself a thicker one. Works well enough.
Remember: This is a chinese bike BUT made by Loncin ( Voge is a subsidary name) that make/made BMW F800, new 900, Husqvana TR650. They make VERY good motorcycles and have for a while.
Freakin awesome little machine, for the price. It even has a better looking front end/headlight set up than my crf300 Rally. I just hope it turns out to be a true reliable machine in the long run. Good review. You look like me when I sit on an XR650L, lol..

Sure it doesn't have the refinement as the Honda but if your taking it off road and you are fairly new to off road riding the chances are your going to drop it sooner rather that later. The main issue I have with the Voge is the ignitions barrel. Its open. Some little scroat only has to pull the wires off the back and bypass the ignition and your bikes gone. I've never looked at a Honda CF but the newer bikes I have been looking at the quality has dropped from what it was 10-15 years ago and the same could be said about Chinese bike but the quality has gone the other way and got a lot better. The thing I've been considering is the dealer network and avalibitly of parts. Once this gets established by "word of mouth" I think the big brands will be in trouble. You are right in what you are saying.
Interesting you picked up on the brakes. I test rode one before Christmas and had to perform a almost emergency stop - and just didn’t. Hit the brakes at 30mph and just carried on. (I’m 20 stone so it’s a lot of combined mass to stop) The rest of it was great but I’d be wanting more oomph on that front brake…
Nice review. I've seen several riders preferring this over the CRF. For someone on a budget this seems like a good pick and decent value for the money. Haven't tried one but it looks like it's pretty fun to ride.
It would be interesting to compare it to the CRF. I actually still own a 2015 CRF250M which is absolutely sublime for city riding, very light and flickable with it’s 17” front. I do hope Honda gives us a 300cc version now, preferably using the engine off the CB300 which seems to make a bit more power. I also own a 2024 Triumph Street Triple RS which is so sweet handling and fast but I still love to go out on the CRF, especially when it’s raining and have the exploring mindset.
All right now. There Kate. It's Steve, here in New Hampshire. I'm nearly 70 years old. Way back in the day I had a 1956 Triumph. So now, here it is, 2024. You know about fb MP. Probably works the same way over there for the Brits? Not sure. A 1998 Suzuki Bandit 1200. Kate, it's so clean. (a ridiculously low price). Been tampered with, the odometer says 22 miles, digital. I don't care. No title Kate. This is a goldmine. Title exempt, Just needs a clean VIN. Got that. I am having a conniption fit here Kate. I actually own this. Paperwork all nice and neat. NH plate, Kate. OMG!
If it’s all for is taking out a few weekends a year for bouncing about on for fun in the dirt without huge cost/fear of damage etc, I’d say it looks like a bit of a winner… £4K, you can have a whole ‘bike or spend the same money on a full ‘system for your Ducati etc. pays ya money and takes ya choice. Nice one, Kate.
that is just what i need for my shopping trip to Aldi x ATB love this also i knocked all the houses down from your standing ! lol was a petrol staition i think lol accrington love it x phenix project back in the day and ETC Demolisions google maps street view still has my hard waer in view
Voge/lonchin make the 750/850/900 BMW engines so the engine should be pretty reliable. Voge are bringing a 900 out which looks very similar to the BMW 900GS so it wouldnt suprise me that they are either making the GS's as a whole package or will be making it in the not to distance future.
Some advice as I have been riding since 1982. Do not follow to close. Do not assume everything will be as it should. If the car in front of you should be required to slow dramatically or stop suddenly for an emergency situation you will be involved, and it may not be a good ending for you. Please give yourself some space as someday you certainly will need it.
Any easy front suspension adjustment on non adjustable front suspension is adding a length of pvc pipe as spacers, an inexpensive fix for an inexpensive bike.
Hey Kate! It looks like the front brake rotor is a bit on the small side too perhaps. How sturdy do the engine guards seem on it? And like you said, for that price point it’s probably quite a good little bike.
@@UsernameKate yeah that could very well be the issue with it’s brakes. It’s good that they put some decent engine guards on it though. I don’t believe the 300 Rally comes with any at all. I’m envious that you’re riding over there🤦♂️. We have a snowstorm happing here right now, and it’s not supposed to stop till early tomorrow morning. It’s 5:00pm here now.
I'd love to get my hands on one. I used to have a great time on my DT175 back in the 70s. But then big bikes became the norm for the next 40 years and mainly stand in the garage collecting dust 😢
I've driven both and I like the Voge better than the Honda. Not just because of the price, but also because it has more backbone. It offers a lot more in terms of standard equipment, which you have to pay a lot for with the Honda. Actual 2024 Model has already the Fuel indicator included on the dashboard wich was a pain in behind just with indication light.
Try the new Royal Enfield 450’Himalayan which is a totally new bike. The Honda CRF 300 Rally is high but its soft suspension sags quite a bit. You could easily handle the previous Himalayan which has a low seat and a modest 400cc motor. Enjoy the ride. This voge is not available in the states.
MCN always tell you to replace your OEM tyres straight away, so perhaps you could do the same and see it changes the overall feel, stability, cornering etc of the bike? Maybe upgrade the brakes too before Mike and yourself go for the next ride?
Hi Kate, I really like the way that bike looks, it’s so much better looking than a CRF. I love the way you’re not fazed by the seat height and also appreciate what great value for money it is in comparison to the competition. I wonder what it would ride like with some decent tyres on it, I’ll bet it will make all the difference both on and off road. Do you know if it’s supposed to have a new piston every 100 hours like my KTM EXCF 350, which is ridiculous! Look forward to seeing you get it muddy! x
The brakes look a bit concerning - wondering if it's just a case of the pads needing wearing in from new? What are the tyres like that come with it? Are they any good?
The brakes will get better over time as the bike didn't have a lot of miles on it. The other side of the coin is due to the bike being somewhat off road biased the braking is designed to be less urgent so to speak. Softer breaking benefits off road riding.
@@UsernameKate OK, I totally got that but all the science in the world proves that using both front and rear brakes with properly distributed dosing is always best practice. It’s all about the physics, dudette!
@@UsernameKate In other words: There is a false sense of security lurking in assuming ABS will take care of everything. Sorry for insisting but proper braking is a bit of a hobby horse of mine.
@@marcbrasse747It's a rally/off-road orientated bike so your theory goes out of the window, just using one brake (front or rear)is both normal and essential. Locking the front with max two fingers is industry standard.
My mates recently bought one after his honda crf300 got stolen, he says the suspension on the voge is much better than the hondas which is notoriously undersprung and weak. I do like the price of the voge, be interesting to see how it holds up with a crappy UK winter.
Hi there Kate, I'm thinking of buying one of these, so could you help me please? When going up through the 'box, what is your average change point ? 5000 rpm, 6, 7? How high do you need to go, to 'make progress'. How many miles on the bike you rode ? When I bought my Himalayan 411 (new) the engine was tight but now at 10,000+ kms she really has free'd off a lot.
I'd like to see a review of both bikes together, this vs the CRF300 - maybe get a friend to ride one, you ride the other & swap half-way, then compare notes?
@wylyecoyote Hi, I wondered where you are getting your information from about the Voge. After reading your comment I went through the manual carefully and can’t find any mention to the piston needing replacing every 100 hrs. There is a very detailed service list and this doesn’t appear on it and there is no reference any where else in the manual. Be great if you could back this claim up as this seems a really important point. Cheers.
Hey Matt, I think Coyote was just asking IF it needed to have a new piston every 100 hrs like the KTM. But the KTM is a competition bike and its usage based on hrs not miles. Not the same class of bike as the Voge which will work on normal service intervals like any other road going bike. I hope this helps :)
Thanks Kate, that makes more sense and really helpful that you got back to me. I keep coming back to this bike and hoping that I can get to see it at the Moto show in Lyon this week. I’m itching to get out on the TET in and around the Pyranees where I live. Thanks again, really enjoyed your review.
If it proves even half reliable at that price and doesn’t rot to dust before it’s first MOT I reckon the £4000 price tag might tempt a few people. From watching your review I’m not convinced it’s really any worse than the Honda CRF in terms of what it does (and the suspension may actually be better), it’s just a question of build quality. If one of the demo bikes really has done 7k without issue then things get interesting, especially given the cost of the Honda (and north of £6000 is a lot of money for a small single cylinder bike).
Kate Great review! The bike seems to have some nice features but if I wanted a bike like that I would go with one of the mainstream Japanese brands personally. I am Leary of anything Chinese for maintenance support. That would raise a big red flag for me. Here in the States that would be a "NOPE". I'm sure the bike will still be great with someone with budget restraints. Fantastic video as usual Lady! I love this channel. Ride SAFE and BE safe Lady! 👍👍
Nice lil loop on the stand makes it quite do able! That was my concern, thought I'd have to put the stand up and throw my leg over it whilst held upright but thankfully it was much easier than that 🤣
Thanks for the review! Nice one Any idea how durable are these? I am seriously considering buying this model but I am just a bit afraid it may get broken or 'ratty' after some years. I think I ve seen all the reviews on yt and none denied good quality as well as none confirmed it. What was the mileage of this unit? - I did not caught it. best regards
Great review Kate, but I think you have the cc wrong it's reads as 292 cc & not 229 as you state, having said that it's still a low capacity bike that needs working, however for the money, great value 👌, think I need to book a test ride 😄
ohh interested one, I already tried Honda CRF300 on standing then I forgot it due to its height matter, maybe I have to revalue it and learn that boom shuffle :)
Great review Kate! 👊 I was looing for a trail bike for Taffy and this could be it. Id imagine that 2nd hand theyre gonna be even cheaper than the CRF equivalent.
Back in the Trough again and isn't Chipping a beautiful place. I admire you trying so many different bikes but as Mike wasn't with you perhaps staying on the black stuff was very wise. Miles to tall for someone of my age that's for sure.
Hi Kate, I don't see the Honda as a direct competitor. The Honda, according to your price figures is 62.5% more money. That puts it into a very different class. Maybe a more fair competitor is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. Similar price, and also has off road possibilities. My feeling is that I wouldn't buy either. My legs are too short for the Voge. And the Himalayan 411 is lacking in power. I rather fancy the new Triumph Speed 400.For the moment though, I will stick with my 36 year old BMW K75.
Hei Ka what is your opinion on this motorcycles during Winter,Summer and Rainy season.I want to know Voge motorcycles refinement for all weather conditions equally or not
I'm afraid I don't have the answers as this was filmed in one day but hopefully there are owners of this bike on TH-cam that can help answer your questions 😊
Great video! Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's easy to speculate why MCN were way off the mark with their review- either Honda's UK marketing department paid them to write it or they never actually sat on one at all and wrote it from the office eating doughnuts 😂 The front brake does get better once it is bedded in but makes the most sense off road where it is progressive and friendly so you don't lock up. The tyres are actually really good wet or dry once you tweak the pressures and even for gravel riding off road. And will last a CRAZY long time (Nathan was predicting 12000+ miles I believe). But a set of Michelin Trackers makes it more capable for British mud., There are a few good ADV vids out there showing how to do rolling mounts from one side and even at 6', that's how I choose to get on and off the Voge now (because you look super cool at petrol stations 🤣) Looking forward to seeing you make more Voge Rally conent 😀
As far as the press goes a general remark: I read a lot of German motorcycle magazines. The trend seems to be that grumpy old men keep slagging off everything new. And I am then talking about people from my own generation! As far as the English press goes: Weren’t they laughing their heads off about the Japanese while the English motorcycle industry died? Industry embedded journalists often make for bad reading. …. And now back to the fun stuff!
I’m old enough to remember 1960s Japanese motorcycles and they had some pretty serious issues. Their handling, tyres and brakes were all weak but the motors seem bulletproof. In a very short period of time the manufacturers improved their bikes and adapted them for th3 European market. The rest is history. The Voge doesn’t resemble those early Japanese bikes at all, it’s already fit and ready for Europe.
@@davidmatthews3093 Hm, Handling, brakes, tires. Aren’t these aspects Kate is criticizing here as well? Still here tone is respectful. My comments are about the prevailing mindset of many a journalist. Does it make sense to make a 300 cc bike which will hardly ever be used off road so big? Hardly. But she is willing to see its good sides, particularly within the context of what the bike costs.
Since when has anything that MCN has to say borne any credibility? I gave up on that trash back in the 70's! Nice measured review Kate, I shall look forward to you trying it on a lane or two.
I watched the disparaging review first too, and it put me off until i came back and watched all the reviews. I think the first guy must not have wanted to upset Honda, in case they didn't lend him any more bikes.
Why can't MCN reviewers review the bikes with the same down to earth approach as you do Kate. It feels like every bike they review is being compared to a 1250GS or something. They were way too harsh on their review of this bike in my opinion. At £4k on the road, this is a bargain and with two years warranty!
I do understand it to a point. They ride sooo many bikes that I guess if riding a voge Rally 300, its gonna be low compared to say a 200+ bhp bike. Would be cool if they could be judged within their respective categories 😊
Your a good positive reviewer Kate. You enjoy all the bikes in the things they give. That would have been better than the Himalayan on the off road with Mike. And reaching the ground, l think Mr Darcy and the Bingley wheeler are copying you with inside leg and sitting on bike information now 😂 nice bike 😊
Pretty good Kate. Like your review. I think you gonna have to ride the crf. That front wheel is normal for that type of bike. As in the feel. It’s the same in the Africa twin with some tyres. But the suspension as you said. Could be better than the crf . The extras that come with the bike. And the foot pegs. So yeah I think the price is excellent for the bike. Or the bike is excellent for the price…. The Honda crf 300L I was more interested in. I only sat in that and thought what ???? 😳 So yes if you can.. please do review it 👍 Dave P
Thanks for the review Kate, you’re probably not used to trail bike brakes with the smaller disc up front, so a little more effort is needed. At least Voge put a fork spring in each fork leg, which is more than Honda give you for the extra £2.5k, you have to spend another £1500 on the crf300 suspension to make it competent. I’ll be off the KD’s for a try myself
My brain wanted to say it has a displacement of 292cc but my dyslexic mouth came out with 229cc. Just to clear that up 😊
🤣 Bless you Kate. You are forever forgiven!
It's one month down, still waiting for the offroading review 😊

Nobody takes MCN reviews seriously nowadays anyway. Unless it's a 200 bhp Ducati or Blade it's rubbish, which is why I stopped buying it years ago.

Engine guards seem very very sturdy! I think the pads just need a bit of bedding in I suspect 😊 it had barely done any miles that bike.
Hi Kate, what a great fun bike, and such value. I think it looks good also, plus good warranty and sounds good exhaust note.A good honest review 🇸🇪🏍👍
Loved this video... Gray
It's a nice looking bike!
Awesome video! Even though the bike is not my cup of tea the scenery was beautiful! Best!
Glad you enjoyed it!
MCN always tell you to replace your OEM tyres straight away, so perhaps you could do the same and see it changes the overall feel, stability, cornering etc of the bike? Maybe upgrade the brakes too before Mike and yourself go for the next ride?
Some light green laning would have been good on this bike. I love watching your off road stuff 👍
It's in the pipeline Paul! 😊
Look forward to seeing you get it muddy! x
Looks like a great fun bike, and looks pretty capable for the low price tag......
I think so too!
Defo don't want a strong bite for off roading 😊
Good braking always means to also use the rear brake, ABS or not! So as long as the combined braking power is sufficient….
Yes but many bikes front brake alone is sufficient enough to get you to a halt. This takes 2 business days unless you use it with rear brake 🤣
@@jimtitt3571 OK. I must confess I am not an off road specialist but I always assumed that for moderate off road work the same applies.
Good looking machine and so much cheaper than the CRF rally.
Great review.
Thanks 👍
“The Art of the Bum Shuffle”, sounds like a proper Country Western song title 😂.
Good sett of lads from Keith Dixon's. Top video as always Kate. Making me think of getting a bike for spring 🌼🌱👍
Thanks for the kind comments!
We're here when you're ready 👌
I want to buy that motorcycle. very good video. Greetings from Colombia.
Thank you!
Sweet change spot for me was 7k on these 😊
@@UsernameKate On my Himmie my change point is 5k so 7k is going to take some getting used to. Thanks for your reply, Dave.
Himmi defo feels more torquey that this but short gearing on this adds to that feeling 😊
Seems pretty good considering how it’s built on a budget and the price tag is good brakes would be decent after the brakes get bedded in
Went puddle splashing and they definitely felt better after they'd been drenched 🤣
I'd like to see a review of both bikes together, this vs the CRF300 - maybe get a friend to ride one, you ride the other & swap half-way, then compare notes?
Nathanthepostman has already done that. The friend who rode the other bike went straight out and bought a Voge.
I like this bike. + points for me are the height, I am a lanky lass. The 300CC engine and those mirrors. The only - point are the short gears.
Jealous of your lankyness ❤️
Kate
Great review!
Thanks Kate, another great review 👍. I've no idea how you managed to get the side stand up when it's 920mm 😂
Nice lil loop on the stand makes it quite do able! That was my concern, thought I'd have to put the stand up and throw my leg over it whilst held upright but thankfully it was much easier than that 🤣
@@UsernameKate Excellent, looks like they've thought that one through then!
Thanks for the review! Nice one
Any idea how durable are these? I am seriously considering buying this model but I am just a bit afraid it may get broken or 'ratty' after some years. I think I ve seen all the reviews on yt and none denied good quality as well as none confirmed it.
What was the mileage of this unit? - I did not caught it.
best regards
Have you had a shot of indain ftr 1200 I'm thinking of getting one ?
Great review Kate, but I think you have the cc wrong it's reads as 292 cc & not 229 as you state, having said that it's still a low capacity bike that needs working, however for the money, great value 👌, think I need to book a test ride 😄
Brain correct, dyslexic mouth let me down 🤣
ohh interested one, I already tried Honda CRF300 on standing then I forgot it due to its height matter, maybe I have to revalue it and learn that boom shuffle :)
Lil bum shuff 🤭
Great review Kate! 👊
I was looing for a trail bike for Taffy and this could be it. Id imagine that 2nd hand theyre gonna be even cheaper than the CRF equivalent.
Looks great fun
Another great vid, I like your honest style Kate.. keep doing what you do..
Thanks so much!
Back in the Trough again and isn't Chipping a beautiful place. I admire you trying so many different bikes but as Mike wasn't with you perhaps staying on the black stuff was very wise. Miles to tall for someone of my age that's for sure.
Good job & good bike 👍🏻
I’d give that a shot, razz about on some green lanes it looks a hoot
@@UsernameKate Thanks ka🌷
I’ve only ridden mine in winter conditions. I can’t wait to see if it’s equally competent on warm dry roads.
That being a trail bike would be nice to see how it does on trails not only on the road.
I do mention that is the plan 😊
I took one out yesterday and it was uncomfortably buzzy for me.
Great video! Glad you enjoyed it. I think it's easy to speculate why MCN were way off the mark with their review- either Honda's UK marketing department paid them to write it or they never actually sat on one at all and wrote it from the office eating doughnuts 😂
The front brake does get better once it is bedded in but makes the most sense off road where it is progressive and friendly so you don't lock up.
The tyres are actually really good wet or dry once you tweak the pressures and even for gravel riding off road. And will last a CRAZY long time (Nathan was predicting 12000+ miles I believe). But a set of Michelin Trackers makes it more capable for British mud.,
There are a few good ADV vids out there showing how to do rolling mounts from one side and even at 6', that's how I choose to get on and off the Voge now (because you look super cool at petrol stations 🤣)
Looking forward to seeing you make more Voge Rally conent 😀
A happy customer will tell their friends and family, an unhappy customer will tell anyone that will listen.
It looks nice not my thing but it sounds like value for money if the bits are easily available
For those tighter purse-strings like me, it'll be interesting to see what these go for after 1-2 yrs lightly used.
Since when has anything that MCN has to say borne any credibility? I gave up on that trash back in the 70's! Nice measured review Kate, I shall look forward to you trying it on a lane or two.
What a silly comment.
@@PDCRed Until you came here and trumped me...
I tested whether the speed on the odometer is same as the GPS speed anda Just 1 kmh difference at speeds faster than 110 kmh. Before that it is same
I watched the disparaging review first too, and it put me off until i came back and watched all the reviews.
😳
So yes if you can.. please do review it 👍
Dave P
I'd love to ride the Honda too! Like to form well rounded opinions 😊
That engine looks ALOT like the old kawi KLX unit.... Wonder if its the same unit but rebranded with a slight cosmetic change
Hope you coped with the altitude sickness on that seat 👍🏻
Thanks for the review Kate, you’re probably not used to trail bike brakes with the smaller disc up front, so a little more effort is needed.
At least Voge put a fork spring in each fork leg, which is more than Honda give you for the extra £2.5k, you have to spend another £1500 on the crf300 suspension to make it competent.
I’ll be off the KD’s for a try myself
Our demo is ready and waiting.
Drop us a line to get booked in 👌
What's not to like for that sort of money 🙄? As for the non adjustable levers, I'm shure that £30 or so would get you a pair of adjustable ones👍.
Oh exactly! Not a massive issue 😊
Lmao I thought you were talking about the weight for a second - FOUUR THOUSAND POUNDS!!
Thank you Kate 👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
