There’s a lot of truth to this clip. I’ve had a near identical situation: back pain. The MD wanted to operate. I went to an osteopath, who said it was slight scoliosis. No surgery needed … just stretches and exercises. Don’t want to bash all doctors - but this “short” rang true to my experience.

As a podiatrist specialising in biomechanics this is so very true! 90% of presenting back, hip and knee problems can be helped WITHOUT surgery. In fact those that do have surgery, often end up back in my clinic for re habilitation for either the same problem or the issue has moved to a different location because only a symptom has been addressed and NOT the root cause of the issue. Loving your channel by the way….

Oh man this is EXACTLY my situation! I’ve had hip pain that has steadily increased over a year. Finally convinced my doc to send me to have an MRI. Tiny labral tear exacerbated by three bone spurs. So the bone spurs are what is causing the pain in the acetabulum. Been taking both 800mg ibuprofen 3-4x day and 500mg Tylenol for about 2 months. I’m scheduled for a full hip replacement 8/30. Did some research on my own on what might address the bone spurs and I’ve been applying Castor oil compresses to the area twice a day for the last 2 weeks. Today is day 6 with no anti-inflammatory or pain meds at all. Not even so much as a limp. Typically it was difficult to walk without holding into furniture or people so I wouldn’t fall on my face.
My husband is still pushing me to have the surgery but I don’t want to if I no longer need it. Thinking about postponing while I get a second opinion.

I went through this. All the muscles & tendons (TFL, periformis, iliotibial & gluteus medius) we’re inflamed. But, it was all caused by the a worn hip socket. Once that was addressed all the muscle pain was gone. Oddest damn thing. In my case they concentrated on the muscle/tendon issue first.

Not really the same problem but I was on birth control for ten years. TEN and I was so insanely depressed and didn’t know why. I mentioned to 7+ doctors I was on birth control and they all said it was impossible that was causing my depression. Later I get off birth control. My depression is cured and I’ve lost ten years of joy and happiness wondering what was wrong with me. I lost weight. I got my energy back and now I’m left with anger, resentment and a huge distrust in the medical community as a whole. What’s worse is that major depression was added as a side effect right as I was figuring this out on my own! 😡🤬😡

Three years ago, after sitting too much at a conference, I got drop foot in my left foot. I'd had it before, but never this bad. I went to my GP who sent me to a podiatrist. The podiatrist looked at my foot for less than five minutes (there was a clock on the wall) then handed me a business card. "Call this number and they'll set you up for surgery. We'll cut here and here." The man never once looked me in the eye, which was creepy. I told him I was uncomfortable with the idea of surgery,. I'd had an unsuccessful surgery on that foot already. He sighed and said he supposed I could try physical therapy. I got lucky and went to someone wonderful who was aghast at what the podiatrist had suggested. Long story short, I no longer have drop foot. At all. So disconcerting that someone who has trouble making eye contact and communicates poorly was going to sever tendons in my leg and ankle after barely glancing at my foot. Something is terribly wrong with our healthcare system.

I found this short today, and I am 100% in this situation. My doc told me I have a torn ACL, high grade, and sugeested I get surgery. After what my sister told me about an athlete who had surgery two years ago and is still limping, I said no to the surgery and went the nonsurgo route; just let you know, Grade 2 tear, can walk though. I know I'll be getting PT, but what I want is how do I fix my hips so that my knee problems are behind me. Not only with doctors, but a LOT of videos have these conflicting claims of what stretches and excercises work, don't work, it's doing more harm to me than good.

If my x-ray shows that the hip is jammed up a little bit and higher on the left side and it also shows in a little bit of curve around the L5 which is pinching the sciatica nerve then do you think it’s possible that the muscles are still creating those problems?
