I will not joke around here. One time when I played PoR and I got to this fight. My big brother was watching me and he isn't usually impressed with things I do. I got two Aether in a row and he just gasped and asked me how did I do that. My answer: RNG
The Black Knight is the most badass swordsman in videogame history! I mean, the Black Knight is even more badass than Sephiroth. And this has to be one of the most epic fights in video-game history. Why is Fire Emblem so underrated?
The Terra Blade Oh that's what you meant. In your initial post you just said it was Japanese. Originally Fire Emblem was Japan exclusive until Fire Emblem 7. So I see what you mean now.
I honestly think many people just don't want to try out TRPGs. I was the same way before my first Fire Emblem game. Before that, they just looked boring. After playing Fire Emblem Awakening, I learned they were anything but. After I finished Awakening for the fifth time, I played Path of Radiance (my favorite) then Radiant Dawn, Blazing Sword, and now I trying to get an English rom to work of Thracia 776. I just wish more people would give Fire Emblem a chance. I'm glad Awakening boosted the popularity of the series though.
My first playthrough of this game, Ike did three Aethers in a row and knocked Black Knights ass off. I figured the game was just programmed to do that in this fight..
Path of Radiance Ike, the most broken FE lord in the series... Promotes as early as Chapter 17 (most lords promote around endgame) gets an 18 Mt, 2 range, +5 defense sword with unlimited uses, gets Aether, has absurd stat caps and incredible growth rates.
Its just TACHO inb4 i talk about Sigurd, the strongest FE character. he is the lord of Fire Emblem genealogy of the holy war. He is able to solo his entire generation which includes several strong enemies. Sigurd starts promoted as the Lord knight class being able to use swords and lances. In the prologue, Sigurd gets the silver sword, which has 50 uses and can be repaired basically making it have infinite uses. On the final chapter he's in, he gets the tyrfing one of the strongest weapons in the game with 30 mt +10 skl and spd +20 res and gives the skill miracle. Ike is not a bad lord by any means, he is sadly sword locked making him a pretty poor unit and his bases are pretty pathetic although, he is pretty easy to train and after his promotion and obtaining ragnell, he is able to solo the rest of the game but compared to Sigurd, he's not very good. Most people say Sigurd vs Seth but seth needs good growth gains and smart uses of the silver lance whilst Sigurd, can use his silver sword as many times as he wants and can quite easily solo his gen.
Just beat PoR today. RNG gave my Ike maxes out Speed and Skill. On the final level, I realized just how broken the combination of almost guaranteed doubling every enemy + having an absurdly high Aether rate was. Poor Ashnard didn’t even have a chance
Incorrect. As a ranger, Ike becomes easily one of your most powerful units, even if you get STR screwed in the first part of PoR, and in the second half, because his growths skyrocket as a Lord, he gets higher stat caps than Sigurd or Seliph. Only thing they really got going for them is HP and Tyrfing. You can give Ike Aether or Resolve, and he can kill Berserk Ashnard by himself. And that's just in his first iteration. In Radiant Dawn, when he gets to be Vanguard, he gets to use Swords and Axes, and if you so desired, you could skill him to SS for Urvan MT 22, on top of 37 STR. Before the uncapped nature of children units from Awakening and future Fire Emblems, Ike is the strongest human Lord unit.
@@SirVyre PoR Ike only really becomes super OP because people tend to dump a ton of bonus EXP and stat boosters into him so he can actually kill BK and the final boss. Before he gets Ragnell (aka the vast majority of the game), he's a sword-locked foot unit in a game where mounted units and 1-2 range reign supreme. He's way better than a lot of other bad lords out there, but people tend to ignore the fact he gets that way because of the massive investment people put into him. RD Ike though is just absurd, especially since he'll likely have transfers, but there's a ton of OP units in that game, so he doesnt always shine as much.
Hot tip, if you put a little time and effort into Mist (like strategic leveling in base) she is greatly useful here healing with good rods and ignoring the dudes
@ramireyes yes but only in radiant dawn.in PoR, if u dont really level up shinon early, he gets around 10 attack when u get him back in crimea marches. in RD, if u get the double bow blessed with shinon, look out.
Actually, that was Aether, the best move ever. Use the Occult scroll on Ike when he promotes to get it. It's awesome. It's a combo of Luna and Sol. One attack heals Ike for the amount of damage dealt and the other attack does double damage. It's awesome.
New fan to the series. For some reason I couldn’t get Ike to proc Aether enough to kill the Black Knight. I find it bullcrap that you have to fight the Black Knight in under a set amount of turns or else the castle collapses.
@Unrealplaya5656 Aether is the combination skill of Sol and Luna. Sol is the part where Ike recover his own HP by the amount of damage he dealt on the enemy then Luna is the part where he launch attack with his full power, ignoring the enemy defense.
@OverlordOfFlame Thanks for telling me that, I'd been wondering about it for a while. I usually just evade the BK until I get the Wishblade on my second turn, then face the black knight with a hammer and own his ass off. This'll make it a lot easier on my hard playthrough, thanks!
@Isredel11 so this whole time, i was seeing the scenes and not the whole thing? i mean i think i seen the battle option, i guess its like moving your character in a limited space and whenever the player is close or within range then you just pick different variety of attacks or something like that.
My Ike had capped Strength, Speed, Skill and Defense and almost capped Luck and HP after killing the Black Knight (when he turned lvl 20). Last time I fought him I remember getting Luna'd twice in a row, only to pull off two Aether's in Turn 4 and 5
u only saw a tiny fraction of this game so dont judge it yet unless uve seen the whole thing.beside this guy cut off a lot of stuff and only showed the parts with ike and black knight fighting
Not right after but after Greils death yes, Ike fought him when the black killed his father but fail then the second time they fought in Crimea and failed again because he figured out only the Rangell could pierce through his armor Leading to this last fight.
@NeoMasamune2 Two aethers at Ike's maxed stats in skill and strength are able to kill the black knight. That's what happened in my playthrough on turn one. (Normal Mode.)
This video truly demonstrates as to how superior the animation for "Aether" was in Path of Radiance, contrary to the lackluster display of the technique in Radiant Dawn.
@thereturnofflorence Well I don't doubt you. Because judging just by this video @1:07 The Black knight's Hp was at 36 and Aether was enough to finish him from that point. His maximum hp is 60 if i'm not mistaken so 2 would(or should) inflict up to 72 dmg total at least.
ok can someone please explain to me how this game works? i havent played fire emblem but i watched other fire emblem games, so can someone explain to me how marth or roy can kill the final boss in one hit so easy? and this fight sequence with the black knight and the other FE games, wheres the fight options? the whole thing looks like auto played.
@wulfen149 That's just regular Aether, look at Ike's final attack on Ashera from Radiant Dawn if you want to see something that could be called Great Aether.
Ike doesn't literally tell Zelgius that Greil Slashed his own tendons, but Zelgius witnessed the scene of when Ike's father went beserk by the medallion. Volke recounts this story to Ike after, I believe Chapter 18/19 in PoR
Actually, it's pretty possible for Ike to get 60 HP normally, though you either need to have Ike get HP on *every* single level up until 20 or use a Seraph Robe.
MageKnight404 my ike was at 59 HP, sadly only BC I used the seraph robe on him when he had 38 and forgot that he caps at 40 pre -promotion. Rip 5 Skills- Capped Ike
um did u train mist cuz since the black knight missed so many time i never knew if mist stayed and fought off the halberdier and the 2 bishops or if u ordered her to escape.
At least you beat him. I got really bad luck recently. On my second playthrough, I really wanted Nasir, because I got Ena on my first. I had Ike at 20/20, and I tried 4 times. In all that the black knight didn't miss once with around 70 hit percent. I got Aether once, but Mist somehow managed to miss one of the bishops in that one, so he healed the black knight. It was rediculously unlucky.
0:27- Ike doesn't tell him the details of why Greil was weaker- and yet when they fight the next time, Zelgius says he at this point found out about Greil slashing his own tendons, but Ike didn't tell him that - so... discrepancy? or what?
@elidodog a "turn" is when you and your enemy complete your actions. hence the turn counter in not only THIS game, but many others like it (shining force, ect). honestly, you can think what you will, but as soon as Ike got Aether nothing ever killed him. ever. i could have soloed with him the rest of the game. but regardless, yes, i did beat the black knight in one complete turn.
It took me like 5 tries to get Nasir on my first file without Mist. I'm trying it this time with Mist though. Remember, never do a rnaged attack on the Black Knight, because Ike's ability can't keep in.
Epic dialogue has a grammatical error! Shouldn't it be "hadn't"? "My father robbed himself of using his stronger arm. If he had, he would not have lost to the likes of you." "My father robbed himself of using his stronger arm. If he *HADN'T*, he would not have lost to the likes of you."

I agree for the most part, but it was sort of mandatory for them to take that direction. In PoR you didn't have to kill him, and in RD you did. It would probably frustrate a lot of novices if they were forced to beat the BK as hard as he was on PoR or harder.
The BK nearly owned me in my last NM run. It took me 3/3 turns, and nothing spectacular happened. It was on Enemy Phase T3, I finally activated Aether, but right before that, he hit me with Luna, putting me at about 10 HP or so. I was actually quite scared, but i won and got Nasir.
@cmsasuke17 The whole thing is more strategy based. This is just the animations they have when fighting, if you're looking for a Soul Caliber-like game, then you're looking in the wrong place.
As long as Ike has Aether (and you attack up close) then you only need 5 turns if Ike can activate Aether at least once. I still love seeing the Black Knight die. Is anyone sure of the Black Knight's true identity? I'm trying to figure it out.
How sad. I took me less that two turns. I attacked in close at first, and since my luck was so high, I managed to pull off an Aether. He attacked again, his Luna failed, which allowed another Aether pulled off. Done.
Nice editing. They should have made this fight arena-style, never ending. Although they have to rig the game a bit to make Ike win... It's impractical. So this is better I guess.
(Gets hit by Aether)
'Tis but a scratch.
+NEKROS A scratch? Your arm's off!
....mearly a flesh wound Have at you!!!
alright, we'll can it a draw.
I will not joke around here. One time when I played PoR and I got to this fight. My big brother was watching me and he isn't usually impressed with things I do. I got two Aether in a row and he just gasped and asked me how did I do that. My answer: RNG
Then the black knight clapped
1:10 Black knight: tis but a scratch
Ike: alright then we'll call it a draw
You either faced the Black Knight or The Burger King.
The Black Knight is the most badass swordsman in videogame history!
I mean, the Black Knight is even more badass than Sephiroth.
And this has to be one of the most epic fights in video-game history.
Why is Fire Emblem so underrated?
The Terra Blade Yeah but isn't Final Fantasy Japanese?
The Terra Blade Oh that's what you meant. In your initial post you just said it was Japanese.
Originally Fire Emblem was Japan exclusive until Fire Emblem 7. So I see what you mean now.
Raheem Plummer you can find english roms for them now though. it grew a ton in the u.s because of awakening, which is why this game is $67 again.
***** Yeah right now I am going through the English Rom of Fire Emblem Geneaology of the Holy War.
I honestly think many people just don't want to try out TRPGs. I was the same way before my first Fire Emblem game. Before that, they just looked boring. Old ass video came out before fe10 even did! me & my nephew are currently on this part
Aether looks so freaking awesome! I can't wait to get this game, I've wanted it for ages.
Radiant Dawn is the sequel to Path of Radiance, so Radiant Dawn follows and references events from Path of Radiance.
I remember fighting the Black Knight in Hard mode. I finished him in THREE turns by somehow pulling out three Aethers in a row. It was awesome!
My first playthrough of this game, Ike did three Aethers in a row and knocked Black Knights ass off. I figured the game was just programmed to do that in this fight..
I don't know. Maybe my luck was at its highest for only this fight. I still can't believe I got them three times in a row. xD
+Greil Mercenary Biorhythm has a lot to do with it. That's still pretty epic though :D
+Jeffrey Dupont I know it does.

ike: *aetehers*
BK: *dies*

nice vid. good to know someone still plays it.
1:07 "Run while you can!/Outta my way!/I won't let anyone die!/I will finish you!"
"hello! My name is enrico Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!"
*takes turns hitting each other*
MAN! He's gonna be in Brawl! I can't wait!!
So what were your thoughts on Brawl?

Ah yes IKEA Man vs Burger King Knight
This is for GameCube, the Wii one is called Radiant Dawn.
Except you get Resolve in this chapter (and therefore can't assign it to Ike yet). And there's no other Resolve scroll except that one I mentioned.
@Unrealplaya5656 Aether is the combination skill of Sol and Luna. Sol is the part where Ike recover his own HP by the amount of damage he dealt on the enemy then Luna is the part where he launch attack with his full power, ignoring the enemy defense.
Thank you for telling me on how to. This will help me beat the Black Knight now.
The Idea of Black Knight suplexing Ike into the pillars and Ike tackle him into them amuse's me. It's probably how the building fell.
@OverlordOfFlame Thanks for telling me that, I'd been wondering about it for a while. I usually just evade the

God I hate Nasir. I was one turn away from killing the black knight and he just comes in and cock blocks me. I was so pissed
@doplys Unfortunately it's extortion on Amazon. =/ I guess you could try Ebay.
My Ike had capped Strength, Speed, Skill and Defense and almost capped Luck and HP after killing the Black Knight (when he turned lvl 20). Last time I fought him I remember getting Luna'd twice in a row, only to pull off two Aether's in Turn 4 and 5

No, they just didnt show the status in battle for some reason. Theres no way to turn it on either.
@wulfen149
That's just regular Aether, look at Ike's final attack on Ashera from Radiant Dawn if you want to see something that could be called Great Aether.
I love this game, still have it =D Fire Emblem for life
badass orchestra music
*Batman is surely looking different.*
Ike doesn't literally tell Zelgius that Greil Slashed his own tendons, but Zelgius witnessed the scene of when Ike's father went beserk by the medallion. Volke recounts this story to Ike after, I believe Chapter 18/19 in PoR
Niice.
Did you use Mist?
Actually, it's pretty possible for Ike to get 60 HP normally, though you either need to have Ike get HP on *every* single level up until 20 or use a Seraph Robe.
MageKnight404 my ike was at 59 HP, sadly only BC I used the seraph robe on him when he had 38 and forgot that he caps at 40 pre -promotion. Rip 5 Skills- Capped Ike
you're right, because in another fire emblem video i saw, ashera (the goddess) missed on tanith once. and it was a 96 percent chance, and she missed!
um did u train mist cuz since the black knight missed so many time i never knew if mist stayed and fought off the halberdier and the 2 bishops or if u ordered her to escape.
At least you beat him. I got really bad luck recently.

I'd be nice if they did the little dances in the beginning of the battles like Radiant Dawn.
THIS MAN SPEAKS THE TRUTH
Hey, what does the Aether skill do?? What is Sol and Luna??
alright just got the game gonna play it tommorow!!! ty
you sure got lucky with all of those misses
Lucky lucky dude, no luna at all? XD 1 question though, why attack from Far 2 times then close?
I agree with you. Fire Emblem is my favorite game series.
0:27- Ike doesn't tell him the details of why Greil was weaker- and yet when they fight the next time, Zelgius says he at this point found out about Greil slashing his own tendons, but Ike didn't tell him that - so... discrepancy? or what?
does anyone else get the Sir Gawain and the Green Night reference?
you have to be at low health to activate those and theres always a chance he'll hit you and finish you off-
is there any way i can play this on my computer??
@elidodog a "turn" is when you and your enemy complete your actions. hence the turn counter in not only THIS game, but many others like it (shining force, ect). honestly, you can think what you will, but as soon as Ike got Aether nothing ever killed him. ever. i could have soloed with him the rest of the game. but regardless, yes, i did beat the black knight in one complete turn.
i was thinking you where playing the newer one so that was my bad
It took me like 5 tries to get Nasir on my first file without Mist. I'm trying it this time with Mist though. Remember, never do a rnaged attack on the Black Knight, because Ike's ability can't keep in.
there are only two things that raise his HP, and both of them are Seraph robes
yeah it would be awsome or maybe if he was in subspace emissary as a boss in the fire emblem area how awosme would it be if all that happened
Epic dialogue has a grammatical error! Shouldn't it be "hadn't"?
"My father robbed himself of using his stronger arm. If he had, he would not have lost to the likes of you."
"My father robbed himself of using his stronger arm. If he *HADN'T*, he would not have lost to the likes of you."
Maybe he's implying that if he had used his stronger arm, he wouldn't have lost.
EDIT: Both are grammatically correct.
Both are actually grammatically correct as the subject of the first sentence changes depending on whether "had" or
"hadn't" is used.
when mist becomes a valkirie shell be a mounted unit with the abitliy swordplay. leveling her up is worth it when you fight the black knight but u probably know that.
Is Ike in the fire emblem 4 wii?If so should i get?
@Jobbeybob
well technically he doesn't die here, so twas but a scratch!
and yes I know that was a Monty Python parody, but STILL!
But if the cousin get stolen and still have the game with him?
What a memorable fight.
When I played it, BK even hit Ike with 2 Lunas, not at the same turn of course. I had a pretty rough time with him, as Ike only did Aether in the last attack at the end of Turn 5. Mist needed to defend herself in the meantime.
But it surely was pretty epic.
This is a REAL duel. Energy swords slashes.
Are you sure? What is Ike's max agility? I didn't max out my Ike in every stat, so that may just be it in regards to why mine could only attack once per round.
Hmmm...you might want to think that through as well.
When one levels up, they only gain stats. They will only get completely healed when they promote. Last I checked, Ike doesn't promote this chapter.
He used Mist to heal Ike. Pure, clean, and simple. Though they don't show it, the author just skipped to the fight-scenes.
He never ECLIPSED?! Damn you are lucky!
What kind of abilities did you have on Ike?
@Raegh Thats cuz when you see Aether in FE, you noe something in front of ike is about to die. When you see aether in SSBB, ike is desperately trying to save himself.
Needs more In the air tonight.
I was actually quite scared, but i won and got Nasir.
can somebody tell me wich console is this game?
when do you get the Ragnell?
Also where do you get Aether?
is this game any good cuz i wanna now if it is i will buy it
lyn is in brawl but as an assist trophy, and she's quite handy when you get her
when you play radiant dawn, you see why he let him win, but it is kind of confusing
@cmsasuke17
The whole thing is more strategy based.
This is just the animations they have when fighting, if you're looking for a Soul Caliber-like game, then you're looking in the wrong place.
Eh I maxed out's Ike's hp but I still lost he doubled and normal then his super.-_-
What is aether?
what happens with nasir here???
but you get to use the Ragnell up until that point, right?
As long as Ike has Aether (and you attack up close) then you only need 5 turns if Ike can activate Aether at least once.
I still love seeing the Black Knight die.
Is anyone sure of the Black Knight's true identity? I'm trying to figure it out.
Old outdated comment, but I am responding anyway. Don't forget the Black Knight's sword (Alondite/Ettard depending on the version) gives +5 defense.
I have fought him on 3 playthroughs so far, and I have never got Nasir. Aether never works for me ;(
GREAT AETHUR!!!!
Anyway to win this if your mist is at lvl 1?
does he join the dawn brigade
How many times can i fight the black knight??
wat system is this for
