Someone posted here a while ago that the respect Ike gives to Zelgius is kind of sudden and out of place, referring to him as a teacher rather than his father's killer (he also mentioned that Soren's breakdown was rather last-minute and badly played). That and that the story as a whole was rushed and lacked necessary development. While I loved this game, I agree that the story felt kind of rushed and needed some more development, especially with the Stephan/Branded subplot. He could have either had an entire chapter dedicated to him or could have been a good final boss.
Ike's respect towards Zelgius made sense in my opinion. Zelgius gave him a goal, something to overcome and a reason to grow stronger. We see Ike ends up being shaped into a man who lives to improve his strength with every passing day. Moreover, Zelgius was taught by Greil and as such, even though Greil met an untimely end, Ike continued to learn his fighting style through his father's pupil. As seen by how his fighting style and form changes from PoR to RD (holding the blade upright near his head) to loosely and calmly pointed down, ready to deliver a powerful swing. You can hate a man whilst still respecting him.

Ike can defeat him in PoR, but he doesn't actually die. He's alive when you leave the castle, and apparently survives when it collapses after you get out (he either warps away, or he's just a beast).
When I fought him i realised that you couldn't heal Ike from behind the barrier. But support bonuses still work. I moved Ike to the back of the field and Soren to the space by Ike. It was easy. I think abilities like daunt work as well.

I don't mean physically, but I think the similarities are there. For one, the characters are very much alike. When you look at the way they interact with the other characters around them, I think they look pretty similar. Also, that "HYA" sound Ike makes when he attacks the Black Knight sounds to my ear a LOT like Ichigo.
the cover squares are the squares with a different pattern on them compared to the others. just move the cursor onto it and it should say cover or something like that.
If you put Ike all the way back to the barrier and have a character stand on the other side the support will work. But its too easy, i miss the B.K. challenge.
U have to meet some requirements: Use BK in final episode of part I Fight BK using Ike in episode 7 part III both must survive. If done right ull get this memory and Lehran will join your party in final duel against Goddes Ashera
DragonOver Cannon skill is only for accuracy. speed is to be elusive. str is damage from bows, swords, lances, and axes while magic is damage from magic tomes or magic weapons.
@Genecalypse There are four 'Cover' tiles, and if you're on one, you get 10 additional defense. You have to lure the BK off of the cover tile he starts on, and then if your Ike has capped stats, you'll win even if Ike isn't on a cover tile or not.
Support only takes effect when the characters are within 3 spaces, which wouldn't be the case. So you have to use just Ike alone, no support bonuses. You can't even attack the BK with ranged magic through his barrier.
Does the scene after the fight only occur after fulfilling some prerequisite? I've beaten the game a few times and I don't ever recall seeing that scene.
are they going to make another fire emblem game for the wii? i hope so. i loved the 3rd tier classes but i heard its not going to be on the new ds game :(

@lolperson80 no the fire emblem is the emblem where yune is trapped in lehran did this so yune doesn't have to die(ashera wanted her dead because of the flood she cause, it was an acident but ashera used this as a sign she was chaotic)
@tcsm61 I completly agree with your remark. The Black Knight in PoR was far more fearful and difficult to defeat. This battle is the final showdown between Ike and his rival and it's this easy...
You forgot that now the Nihil skill is added,so the Black Knight was weaken much more since he can't use Eclipse.Of cource,Ike can't use Aether, but he doesn't need it agaisnt him.
There are several cutscenes in this part of the game that only happen when certain requirements are met. Radiant Dawn in particular has a lot of things like that with very vague requirements. It's been many years since I played this, but I do remember a few things. One, you have to be in New Game Plus, and you have to fight the Black Knight as Ike in a certain chapter in part 3 and survive. You dont need to win, just see their interaction.
There are 3 reqs to Ike's memory scene (assuming you're on 2nd playthrough onward): 1. Spare Pelleas before p.3-13 2. Use Black Knight in p.1-End 3.Have Ike engage Black Knight in p.3-7 with BOTH surviving the chapter
@Genecalypse do you hit him near all the time cause it happens to me i hit him directly t hits 5 but when i hit indirectly i hit 15 and after i hit indirecty it doesn't matter if i hit him from near or far it always does 15
ike saw the whole thing that expains alot. how do u get that memory do u have to bring mist with you or do you have to beat him in a set amount of time some 1 tell me i have to know! poor elena
@OhMySong yeah but he even talked about "cutting mist down" too in por (not those exact words i dont think but something along those lines) idk seems pretty off to me =b
@Mocolashandaful Got that right. It was a bit lackluster though, because the BK had Nihil, and if Ike didn't either you'd get Eclipse'd. The first fight against him in PoR, was a lot less fair, but at least it felt more rewarding. =/
@NiggeliNG Remember, though: the BK armor is blessed by the goddess, so maybe it made it lighter on him. Also, his stats, notably his speed stat in both games backs that.
Got a question. My Ike only was doing 4 damage to BK. Let alone my Ike was not doubling like this one was in his video. What gives? I had my Ike at level 20/20 as well.
Um, question. If his armor is blessed by the goddess, wouldn't had been obvious that he was working with Benhgon the whole time? I mean, where else could you possibly get armor blessed by the goddess herself?
The memory scene occurs when you do the following: Beat the game at least once On your second playthrough, you must use the Black Knight in part 1 endgame On your second playthrough, you must have Ike fight the Black Knight in part 3, chapter 7 (you don't have to win, just survive the battle) On your second playthrough, the moment when Pellas is supposed to die, a third option will appear instead, giving him the chance to live. Pick that option. Not only will the memory cutscene happen, but the story and dialogue will change quite a bit. You will also receive a surprise recruitable character in this playthrough (no spoilers though :p)
@Genecalypse After your first attack you can deal more damage, and if you already took in damage from Zelgious you deal more damage. Using Ettard results in less damage on Zelgious but more critical attacks you can deal out, but risks taking in Zelgious's critical attacks. The other results is Ike avoiding more attacks and receiving less damage. Ike is good because his stats make him one of the best well rounded stat units.
@OhMySong Theres a better explanation. Some stuff I misunderstood, or just missed. That interpretation seems the most accurate, I should post that up on FE Wiki's Spoiler Section if not already there.
@Duncan33able Hmmm..I really don't know how to explain it. All characters have stats in HP, Strength, Magic Defense, Speed, Skill, and Resistance. Depending on those stats, you will get a specifice percentage that says what your chances are of hitting the enemy, how much damage you will do, the chance of getting a critical hit, and if you attack only once or twice. The game is turn based strategy. I guess the only way you'll really understand is by playing a Fire Emblem game.
It's a special cutscene, I don't remember how to get it other then in part three Ike and the black knight have to fight at least once (they also must both live), other things cause it also...
Sorry memory isn't the best but what problem did Tibarn have with Zelgius? If I remember rightly they meet on the battle field and had pretty high respect for each other warning each other of a threat approaching their friends. What am I forgetting here?
is there anyway to get back from Rebirth(3) to Rebirth(1) i picked the most crappy team and i cant rechoose, and whenever i play that team, i always lose, can any1 help? i dont wanna restart another 32 hrs
@NiggeliNG Sorry about that last comment's misinfo; I forgot the blessing is gone in RD. But, as for PoR's BK...weaker, Iknow, but still, he has the blessing,so...
umm.. sorry i am not TheCockCrew but i tink i know. In a replay game of this you must have a battlefield conversation with the black knight during Part 3 chapter 7.(the chapter where you get janaff and ulki as playable units) i am not totally sure if that is right but if it is not, then if you do what i just told you, after you defeat Sephrain on the final part he jions you.
For you idiots out there, i'll clear it up. In PoR, Ike witnessed the BK kill Gawain. This is why Ike hated him throught out PoR, and why he wanted to defeat him. However, the BK wanted to defeat Ike in RD because he had killled Gawain so effortlessly it brought him no satisfaction that he had defeated such an amazing swordsman. So he wanted to fight Gawain's son, Ike . (Who has now become a very formidable swordsman) There is no real sign of hate in this battle though.
Not sure he has any. All he wanted was to surpass Greil and since Griel weakened himself by cutting the tendons from his sword hand,he fought Ike who had the same skills.
Whoa in the cutscene Ike hit puberty already

@Genecalypse After your first attack you can deal more damage, and if you already took in damage from Zelgious you deal more damage. Using Ettard results in less damage on Zelgious but more critical attacks you can deal out, but risks taking in Zelgious's critical attacks. The other results is Ike avoiding more attacks and receiving less damage. Ike is good because his stats make him one of the best well rounded stat units.
how are u doin 15? my ike is maxed in str and i only do 5 twice :S only stats i dont have maxed are magic and res
Oh, I couldn't take it! Ike's yell. Defies all reasoning...but then again, it's fire emblem. :|
i also just noticed that i should be doin 15... he has 40 def and i do 55 is it because im on normal mode?
do u get to use da black knight in radiant dawn?
how did you get that cut scene???
Can you still fight him if you defeat him in Micaiah's stage
the Black knight is standing on a plus 10 defense square at fisrt so just have ike wait where he is or move up 1 space on your first turn.
It's a special cutscene, I don't remember how to get it other then in part three Ike and the black knight have to fight at least once (they also must both live), other things cause it also...
I didn't know the Black Knight could run that fast
Sorry memory isn't the best but what problem did Tibarn have with Zelgius? If I remember rightly they meet on the battle field and had pretty high respect for each other warning each other of a threat approaching their friends. What am I forgetting here?
I know this is 12 years late but Tibarn was mad that Zelgius shrugged off his attack and was itching for a rematch ever since
@@FlappyCat-ef6oq Might also have something to do with that one Hawk the Black Knight killed in Path of Radiance.
@@JotariThis is possible but he never mentions it in Radiant Dawn
it is a skill that prevents battle related skills froming taking effect
Man, Ike's Nihil never works for me and the Black Knight always gets eclipse when we fight. Any tips?
is there anyway to get back from Rebirth(3)
to Rebirth(1)
i picked the most crappy team and i cant rechoose, and whenever i play that team, i always lose, can any1 help?
i dont wanna restart another 32 hrs
@NiggeliNG Sorry about that last comment's misinfo; I forgot the blessing is gone in RD. But, as for PoR's BK...weaker, Iknow, but still, he has the blessing,so...
what chapter or final chapter part is this?
...Where did the voices come from?
umm.. sorry i am not TheCockCrew but i tink i know.
Woah, Zelgius is the Black Knight?? I never got to finish the game cuz my friend let me borrow it.
Which Is the cover square?
@XVanitas There was actually a woman named Altina that dual wielded them 780 years prior.
(Who has now become a very formidable swordsman)
There is no real sign of hate in this battle though.
Not sure he has any. All he wanted was to surpass Greil and since Griel weakened himself by cutting the tendons from his sword hand,he fought Ike who had the same skills.
Man everytime I get to this part of the game my Wii's disc lens goes crazy!!
